Volodymyr Zelenskyy passing through London says he believes the Russian invasion is slowly turning in Ukraine’s favour. “We can’t say Russia is losing this war. But we can say they are losing the initiative.”
Ukrainian drones have been crippling vital supply roads in Crimea, attacking St Petersburg and setting fire to oil terminals, causing severe fuel shortages in certain areas. On the eastern battlefield, Russia’s grinding advance has come to a near halt, losing more than 30,000 soldiers a month. Though it has not stopped Russia striking back and using cluster munitions in built-up areas inside Ukraine.
But Putin is also losing allies with Orban’s defeat in Hungary, and pro-Kremlin candidates failing in Moldova and Armenia; are isolated in Europe and increasingly in the USA. And the Russian economy is in trouble.
Looking at the Invasion Declaration chart of 23 February 2022 9pm Moscow, it is not at all clear when the end point will be. It started on a ruthless Mars Pluto conjunction which is not closing by Solar Arc until mid 2027, which looks ominously far away. Though this year tr Uranus will oppose the Moon and square the Sun from this June onwards, running into mid 2027, which may begin to upset Putin’s best laid plans.
Zelensky’s Term chart, 20 May 2019 10am Kiev looks highly unsettled this year and through 2027 with tr Pluto square the Uranus and Venus; with an undermining tr Neptune square Mars late September to early November this year.
His own personal chart has tr Pluto conjunct his Sun Venus which will be pressured, challenging and emotionally intense now and through 2027. His Progressed Moon has another 18 months of so wending through his hidden 12th house and it will be New Year into 2028 before it emerges into his 1st for a new beginning.
Neither Ukraine 1918 or 1991 charts is illuminating and even after hostilities finish as they must at some point, there will still be extreme dislike between the two countries.
I wondered if the Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan might throw up a few astrological pointers. The Soviet Afghan War started on 25 December 1979 and withdrawal was completed by 15 February 1989 with a teeth-gritting Mars opposition Pluto. At that point tr Uranus was conjunct the war-start Sun, with tr Neptune Saturn conjunct the Solar Arc Sun. Tr Uranus was conjunct the Solar Arc Midheaven; and the Solar Arc Neptune was into the 10th as failure became obvious. So relatively clear.
The US Afghan War started 7 October 2011 and finished with withdrawal 30 August 2021. At the end tr Saturn was conjunct the Solar Arc Mars which was conjunct the start Neptune for a resounding failure. Tr Neptune was conjunct the Solar Arc Midheaven. Again clear cut.
On the Ukraine invasion chart there is this year tr Uranus square the start Sun which might be a hopeful indicator; but otherwise it could be the end of the decade before tr Neptune will square the Moscow midheaven. However relocating the Declaration chart to Kiev puts a 3 degree Cancer Midheaven which tr Neptune is squaring this year. So there may be glimmerings of hope of an earlier cessation.
Renee, very perceptive comments and that would fit in with my early forecast of an early 2027 resolution – but do you really think Putin would risk tactical nuclear weapons with unpredictable Trump still a year or more from his inevitable secession. Trump is happy playing ball with Putin as with Netanyahu there comes a point when he can get quite assertive and I think that would really be a red line even though he spends every day switching.
Zelensky’s life was clearly pre-ordained, it’s no coincidence that in his acting days he appeared in a TV show depicting his character becoming the President of Ukraine. His Leo Stellium has no doubt helped him on the Global Platform. It’s tragic that so many people are suspicious of his motives, particularly as he has mentioned his unwavering big-hearted love for his people.

The signs from the arena are extremely promising for the first time since northern Kherson was recovered. Ignoring the headline campaign against oil refineries, naval hubs and production in Russian cities, Ukraine’s undertaken a systematic DEAD campaign to clear the way for the free strikes in the rear that have been in the news the last 6 weeks. Russian logistics in the south are severely constrained with no obvious countermeasures available, certainly not in any timeframe near enough to stave off some sort of collapse later this summer. It’s reminiscent of the summer campaign in 2022 after the first HIMARS deliveries, when Ukraine struck ammo dumps and command and control locations across the south on a daily basis, until Russia’s front lines collapsed and forced a retreat. Russia’s own frontline drone capability will slow any Ukrainian advances this time. But barring the development of countermeasures soon, I fully expect by October, Ukraine to have made significant inroads into what is currently occupied territory. Equally, because Putin genuinely seems to be on the hop this year, I won’t be surprised either if he resorts to tactical nuclear weapons as a last desperate means of breaking Ukrainian morale.
