Numerology and Astrology – insight in digits

“Numerology is the ancient esoteric belief that numbers carry energetic vibrations and represent a mystical connection between digits and metaphysical phenomena or human life. It is primarily used for self-discovery, understanding your life’s purpose, and mapping out the major cycles of your life.”

Different paths can lead to one goal though it is not always easy or possible to merge one belief system on top of the other. I have known biorhythms even solar flares coincide with astrological aspects so they came to the same conclusion from different routes. But they are separate disciplines.

Where numerology is helpful is with harmonic charts, which are drawn up to make less obvious aspects visible.  The creative 5th harmonic of the builder relates to the 360 degree zodiac wheel divided by 5 giving 72 degree aspects. The creative 7th harmonic can be spiritual. Like all astrology there are pluses and minuses. The 9th harmonic can be humanitarian or money-grabbing (Bernie Madoff etc).

The below is a list that Vendla, a numerologist, gave me years ago which is helpful. Number 12 does fit with Pisces and/or 12th house. Number 8 fits Scorpio. Number 11could describe some Aquarian traits. Number 3 which house is Gemini’s natural home also. But the others not so much in terms of signs’ zodiac order.

The zodiac runs from Number 1 Aries, 2 Taurus, 3 Gemini, 4 Cancer, 5 Leo, 6 Virgo, 7 Libra, 8 Scorpio, 9 Sagittarius, 10 Capricorn, 11 Aquarius, 12 Pisces.

Numerology meanings:

1: The pioneer; Originality, innovation, ambition, determination. Also loneliness, egotistical, vain, dominating.
2: Cooperation, sensitivity, kindness, harmony. An entertainer at heart or at least artistically oriented (painting, music, writing). Also: Irresolute, deceitful, gossiping.
3: Charm, ambition, determination, artistic and verbal skills. Also cold, can be deceitful.
4: A fated number. Forever contradicting and in opposition to authorities. May have to start over and over again. Practical skills, organisation, strength, courage and perseverance. Also: Intolerance, dogmatism, ruthlessness.
5: Always on-the-go. Inventive, freedom-lover, fast-thinking, “sexy”. Also: Lack of concentration, irresponsibility, sensationalistic, self-indulgent, deceitful, “the player”.
6: “The Cancer number”; Sweetness, parenting, protecting home and family. The flipside is conventionality, stubbornness, unyielding, want of domination.
7: Seven is traditionally regarded as a spiritual number, endowed with a different kind of imagination, often artistic skills. Need peace. Perfectionism. A seeking soul. Also: too sceptical, too critical, sarcastic, cold, self-centred, attracted to alcohol/ drugs and occultism.
8: A fated number. “Karmic debt”. Soul wounds, bad luck or loss may follow this number, which also gives an abundance of strength and stubbornness in the face of difficulties. The road to success is often bumpy and hard, and if it comes easy, or at all, it will not necessarily bring happiness.
9: Strength, determination, the humanitarian. A philanthropic or artistic attitude to life is required, because if lacking, the number will “fail” to work constructively and could bring forward aspects such as frivolousness, immorality and irresponsibility.
10: “The wheel of Fortune”. Contains the innovation and creativity of the number 1, but even if 10 stands for prosperity and abundance, it also contains the seed of both rise and fall, of the good and the bad.
11: So called Master Number, which means that it is a difficult number to live up to. The positive aspect of number 11 is idealistic and inspired imagination. The negative aspects are fanatism and also dishonesty, greed, self-indulgency and even perversion. From a different position, 11 warns against hidden trials, disloyalty and betrayal from others.
12: The sacrifice. Being sacrificed or becoming a victim to other persons’ (or entities’) plans, ambitions or intrigues. 12 warns against being a victim of circumstances or dragged into other people’s affairs where you will be the one suffering the consequences. 12 may also make a conscious sacrifice. Also: Creativity, writers.

  1. Napoleon had a deep interest in numerology, he was quite obsessed with it and he regularly consulted the famous Parisian fortune teller, Marie Anne Lenormand, but became disillusioned with her after she predicted his Russian campaign would be a disaster. Napoleon was a life path 1, according to some numerologists. He did feel the pull of his destiny that’s for sure.

  2. Astrology is inseparable from a type of numerology. The classical aspects are all based on sections of a circle, the circle being the ecliptic. The opposition is based on bisection, the trine on trisection, and so forth. The zodiacal signs make no sense if we are not willing to attribute a special significance to division by 12, and so forth and so on.

  3. Life path numbers. 1 very determined to be themselves.
    2. Need a partner and feel incomplete without .
    3. Lucky person who gets what they need easily.
    4. The square of 4 corners. Locked in own beliefs, difficult to sway.
    5. Always wanting freedom to do their thing no 5 gets on with everyone but no.4.
    6. Dreamy and can be hypochondriac.
    7. Lucky often unjustified, spiritual pursuits attracts.
    8. The eternal loop and never let’s go. Selfish and obsessed with acquiring money and possessions. Neither admits or deny.
    9. The last number is the hardest worker and often works to old age and with a 9 day ie 9th /18th/27th of month can mean hardship with the will to keep going.

I have often found these basics to be true.

    • LC, I believe you are right. I can absolutely say 3, 4, 5 and 8 are spot on, as well as 18th day of the month, for those who are of those life paths/birth days.

I do know a Leo 8 who does admit to his obsession though.

      Extremely fascinating….

    • Thanks LC. Rings true for those people I know. Interesting both ‘7’ descriptions are associated with ‘spirituality’: December 25 (Julian) equals January 7 (Gregorian) for the birth of Jesus Christ. Both 7 numbers.
Famous address (10 Downing Street) matches the ’10’ energy Marjorie describes (rise & fall).

    • I’m a 5 and on here usually freaking out about losing my own and others freedoms due to tech overreach . But I do usually get on with everyone.

One brother who I get on with is a 6 and quite hypochondriac, but I’m glad he’s hyper aware because he’s had some serious health issues. He’s not like a lot of guys by ignoring it all.

My other brother is a 4 and I have no relationship with him. He’s very rigid in his thinking and has some very unpleasant views that I do not resonate with. He just refuses to see other views and always thinks he’s right.

My mother is an 8 and deeply materialistic and self absorbed. She’s always spending her money on stuff she doesn’t need and then resents others who have money saved. It’s bizarre.

      So bang on, id say

  4. Marjorie, thanks. It is very interesting.

But I have some question, how to people add up the birth date number. I have seen Martha ‘s example below. There is also some other example online where you reduced the year to single number, month to single number and day to single number before adding them up. For ky own case whichever method I used I end up in the same path. For someone I checked method 1 and 2 yield different life path number.

  5. Marjorie, is the yellow highlight at #7 a specific note? Or am I seeing something arbitrary? Please edify. Thank you

  6. Way back when I was a teenager I read Cheiro’s Book of Numbers, the ancient Chaldean system. I found it quite insightful. He talked about the Master numbers: 11, 22, and 33 which are not reduced to single digits. It’s interesting/fascinating how certain numbers recur in our lives.

  7. Thank you Marjory. I can see the astro numerology parallels.
My ‘Life Path’ number (birth month, day, and full year combined then reduced to a single digit) somewhat chimes with the energy you describe.
Based on recent internet digging, I have come to associate ‘5’ energy with Mercurial vibes (but Gem Air, not Virgo Earth) but interesting to see you partially describe a Uranian/Aqua type energy too.
I don’t understand anything about Harmonics, I think because I do not know my time of birth and imagine that’s integral. But I also ‘tune it out’ because it appears mathematical & complicated but I appreciate your summary of its calculation Marjory.

    • Just to add, I would probably say the ‘5’ energy you describe actually does fit with (shadow) Leo (astrology 5th house) : ‘sensationalistic’ & ‘ self-indulgent’ , but that could be me projecting my personal views / observations of my interactions with Leo moon natives.

      • Sorry Marjorie for your name mispell above. I didn’t think it looked right!
        – I’m trying to instinctually respond without double checking my ‘writings’ all the time which is exhausting (Saturn in Gem) but it backfired 🙂

  8. For me Marjorie 4 always crops up in one way or another at key stages in my life – also curiously at school always favouring Thursdays (4th day in the week) And then though it sounds stupid always liked the look and shape of 4. : “A fated number. Forever contradicting and in opposition to authorities. May have to start over and over again”. That and the perseverance makes sense but the negatives for 4 didn’t. I Wonder if dates for events that turn out definitive stay in your mind – for me 4, there we go again, and 10. Astrology is fundamentally about numbers and language – try removing either and what is really left ?

    • So interesting Anton. I too always favoured Thursdays at school – but I associate Thursday with the day of Jupiter and not a number. Uranus is supposedly associated with number 4 which fits your description.

        • Not heard that one Virginia. Perhaps due to its Jupitarian (religious?) connotations. That, or its ability to give respite from the daily (weekday) grind. I do see Thursday as a lucky and pleasing day.
I have always disliked Tuesdays. Esp at school. Tuesday is ruled by Mars.
Monday the Moon: usually a day I don’t look forward to, but once Monday gets underway, I realise its not as bad as I’d feared.

  9. Continue reducing. At age 57. Ponzi scheme, reduces to 5 plus 7 gives 12, he
victimizes others at this age. Reduce 12 gives 1 plus 2 equals 3. Direct his
age 57 three more years giving 60 the age of his imprisonment.
At birth, all the events of our lives are predetermined using numerology.
As the bible says….”All the hairs on our head are numbered.”

  10. Birth numbers identify potentally significant years. eFor example, for me, my
    significant numbers are 7. 9, 18, 25, 43, 48,52, 70 etc. For each of these
significant ages i can identify an event such as death of parent, graduation,
start a job, got married, first child. move to a new location, etc
I used reduced numbers frequently and added them to other date. Try on your ow.

  11. In the last post we calculated Madoff’s single digit total as 36. Next, we add
to this number the year of his birth, i.e, 36 plus 1938…36 plus 1 plus 9
plus 3 plus 8 giving a total of 57. ..This is his Double Digit Number..So this number reveals an important event in his life. At his age of 57 he stared his Pnnzi Scheme on his birthday, April. 1995.

  12. Using numerology we add Bernie’s Day, Month, and Y ear of Birth:.
    29 April +, 1938….2 + 9 + 4 + 1 + 9 + 3 + 8 = 36 which reduces to 3+6 = 9
,the 9th Harmonic. His birth resonates to the 9th Harmonic characteristics
    both positive and negative traits.
