USA – giddy Fortune’s furious fickle wheel (Shakespeare)

In the febrile and chaotic atmosphere after Trump’s inauguration with hysteria mounting (just the way he likes it) it’s all too easy to be drawn into apocalyptic fears of the fascism of the 1930s returning. That came on the back of the Great Depression of 1929/30 with Pluto in Cancer opposition Saturn square Uranus; and Hitler came to power in 1933 when Uranus in Aries was square Pluto. That certainly upset the status quo but not in the libertarian sense that we saw with the Uranus Pluto conjunction in the 1960s or the recent square which oversaw the Arab Spring and an Obama Presidency.

More than anything what drove fascism in Europe was the temperaments of the leaders involved. Hitler as well as being a sadistic thug, had the megalomaniac Neptune Pluto conjunction in Gemini, which historically has been associated with Attila the Hun and Tamerlane The Great, both vengeful empire builders; and Neptune Pluto spawned the great nasties of the 20th Century – Stalin, Mao Tse Tung. Hitler, Mussolini, all born towards the end of the 19th Century, who either had it exact in their chart or spent their formative years under its influence. Mercifully we’ve been spared that. Though Bannon does have the fanatical Uranus Neptune hard aspect, which he shares with Lenin and Joseph McCarthy.

It’s more likely that the convulsions ripping the USA apart at the moment are more connected to the tr Uranus square the USA Mercury opposition Pluto this year, plus the Leo Solar Eclipse this August [see post ‘USA 2017’, Dec 26th 2016.]

Richard Nixon came to power on the back of the Uranus Pluto conjunction of the 1960s, signed treaties with China and the USSR, pushed through desegregation, ended the Vietnam War and established the EPA. So he wasn’t all bad though his time in office was tarnished by his VP Spiro Agnew’s resignation over financial corruption and Watergate – both Nixon’s and Agnew’s resignations happened on the tr Uranus square the USA Mercury opposition Pluto. Nixon was followed by Gerald Ford (more power to Congress, less to the President) and then Jimmy Carter.

The approaching Saturn in Capricorn (from 2018) conjunct Pluto in 2019/2020 will certainly be repressive economically – and emotionally downbeat – with the likelihood of a more major war than usual. (In addition to the normal endless squabbles going on somewhere at any given time.) Saturn Pluto tends also to be suppressive when religious beliefs are concerned.

Not a brilliant year ahead for the USA but it’s a high- stakes game astrologically from the Leo Eclipse and Uranus on Mercury Pluto, so the fall out could be considerable.

What will be interesting is to see how some of the ‘big beasts’ that Trump has nominated cope with his self- ( and Bannon) generated mayhem. Mattis and Tillerson especially are not men who will appreciate being hauled into their private game of anarchic pandemonium.

    • Ragnar, thank you for replying. I don’t know if it was “false news” being reported here, but she was “the 8-year-old daughter of Anwar al-Awlaki, the New Mexico-born al Qaeda leader who himself was killed in a U.S. strike five years ago. It was not immediately clear where she was born, but having an American father would have given her automatic dual citizenship in the US and the country of her birth.” Her 16 yr. old brother (half brother?) was killed two weeks after Al-Awlaki.

Interesting you point out similarities between Bannon and Lenin astrologically. Look at this.

“I’m a Leninist,” Bannon proudly proclaimed to the writer Ronald Radosh at a party at his Capitol Hill townhouse last summer. “Lenin,” he said of the Russian revolutionary, “wanted to destroy the state, and that’s my goal too. I want to bring everything crashing down, and destroy all of today’s establishment.”

    • And he intends to replace the establishment with…Gulags? Concentration camps? Who guards the guards?

In the late 80’s, there were photos floating about of Russian-marked diesel locomotives parked at side switches along railways in Washington and Oregon. Chain link fenced holding areas…topped with barbed wire, leaning inwards.

With time, UFOs and black unmarked helicopters will appear again 😉

    • Lenin from recent biography: “He battered opponents into submission with the deliberate use of violent language which he acknowledged was ‘calculated to evoke hatred, aversion, contempt . . . not to convince . . . not to correct the mistakes of the opponent, but to destroy him, to wipe him and his organisation off the face of the earth’.”

  2. I’m wondering about the role of my generation, “late” Gen X’ers born in from 1975 to 1979. Many of us are reaching the point in our career where we are becoming truly influencial, also in politics. And we have some pretty interesting Outer Planet interaction – not as single minded as that we saw in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. I’ve always thought Pluto in Libra generation is here to mend some diplomatic ties that have been severed, and now have an inkling what they will be.

  3. Thanks Marjorie 🙂 I shall rest back and have a cup of tea. What on earth compells these men to be so ugly and brutal that they actually believe that kind of power is magnetic and seductive to the masses that we will all look up to them like some special annointed king? They are like the putrid afterbirth trying to pass themselves off as ‘real’ men. Only, they are just a parody of what they think a real man should be.

Defintely agree that Trump is a pathological narcissist; Crowing on to the Aussie/NZ (?)) Prime Minister about the millions who voted for him and then cutting the call short because it basically bored him no doubt, and the prime mi ister was talking all about trump. When asked about Black History Month he ends up talking about himself, how he still has MLK bust in his office and it was all just fake news about him. Well, he may as well talk about himself there because I’m quite sure this pantomime orange wouldnt even know what to say about Black History Month. In the wise words of JK Rowling, if you took this mans money and power away ‘he would be just another blow-hard at the bar trying to grope waitresses.’ Bannon on the other hand, I believe, is a vicious sociopathic thug, as often seen in the male members of the white supremist movement. What ugly, loathsome role models they both are as men.

    • You’ve got it, Jo. Some of his foolery was meant to take the news cycle away from the failed raid in Yemen that killed a Navy Seal and a little American girl. Al Qaida said they knew they were coming. Trump’s brilliant battle “plan” was an old one that Obama wouldn’t authorize.
