As old alliances are shattered, new ones are being cobbled together and not only in the Middle East. UK PM Keir Starmer is pursuing a “closer partnership” with the European Union, because of global volatility and economic pressures. He aims to strengthen ties on trade, security, and energy
The prospect will give Daily Telegraph readers a fit of the vapours and threaten to reopen the rancorous Brexit debate. While a full re-entry would almost certainly not be possible or even wanted (except by Sadiq Khan), it does come at a time when there is a significant shift on the UK/EU 1957 relationship chart. Tr Uranus will conjunct the composite Pluto in June and again late year into January 2027. Which suggests an upheaval and a turnaround.
At that point tr Uranus will also square the UK Pluto at 2 degrees Pisces so there will be a collapse of the older order and start of building anew. Interestingly the UK/USA chart relationship chart has tr Pluto opposition the composite Uranus exactly now till late this June and again on and off till late 2027 – which hints at the same kind of upheaval but in reverse. As one goes down (no doubt temporarily until post-Trump) another comes together.
When Brexit happened tr Pluto was square the UK’s 8th house Aries North Node – and by next year the Solar Arc Pluto will oppose the UK North Node. A 7th house Aries North Node is tricky since the need for relationships pulls against an equally strong need for independence.
With the EU there will be constant revisions and adjustments through 2027 with tr Uranus square the composite UK/EU Uranus – so it won’t be seamless or smooth, but there will be a change in the present status quo.
Relations with the USA will get fractious and explosively argumentative in the second half of May in particular with tr Uranus conjunct the composite Mars, and again in the first three months of 2027.

The U.K. 1801 Mars at 11 Taurus seems to be activated currently. The Aries Ingress for 2026 at London had this degree on the mid Heaven. It will be opposed by the Full Moon in Scorpio on 1st May 2026. This will fall in the 1st and 7th House axis of the Full Moon chart and on the 2nd and 8th House axis of the UK chart. This could indicate personal needs clashing with external pressures from partners which impact personal and shared finances. The UK 1801/US Sibley composite chart has Mars in the 7th House at 2 Gemini which will be activated when Uranus enters that sign at the end of April. It trines the U.K. 1801 Uranus in Libra. Intriguingly the UK 1801/EU 1958 composite chart has Pluto at 2 Gemini. Transiting Uranus will be squaring the Pluto at 2/3 Pisces both the British 1066 and 1801 charts.
The EU/UK composite chart has the Sun conjunct Chiron. Uranus transiting Pluto could mean the same old thorn/wound in the side emerging – which happens to be money and the use of with the EU. The U.K. has always remained free to pursue its own monetary needs. Preferring to use the old common market monetary system. I have a feeling the EU will make a monetary demands. Uranian is transiting Pluto with its Scorpio sign ruling the composite charts third house, “communication” ; which is where Mercury is, the ruler of Gemini where Pluto is. With Aquarius ruling the fifth house birth/ young people? Demands of money, for youth access paid in Euros? Along with discussions about joining the Euro for ease of dealing in commercial enterprises may emerge. Which could cost even more money for the U.K.? As Leo the ruler of the fifth house is on the cusp of the 11 th – house of groups – ruled by Aquarius in the fifth; with the Sun ruled by Leo in the fourth house conjunct that constant wound Chiron. With the above EU/UK chart nothing will be an easy flow. As ever thus!
As an American, I don’t blame the UK and the European Union for pulling away from the United States. The United States, Israel, and the Russian Federation have become 3 of the most evil countries on this planet (because of Trump, Netanyahu, and Putin).
Looking back at the two previous squares of Uranus to the UK Pluto, they do seem to represent major turning points for the country and its leadership. In 1982, the first hit of Uranus to Pluto coincided with the nadir of the Thatcher’s government’s popularity. The Falklands war followed shortly afterwards, Argentina was defeated and by the last hit of Uranus to the UK Pluto in October 1982, the Thatcher government had a 10-point poll lead. In 1942, the first pass of Uranus square to the UK Pluto coincided with the fall of Tobruk, the nadir of the British defence of Egypt. By the time Uranus passed the UK Pluto for the final time in May 1943, Axis forces had been swept out of North Africa by Operation Torch. The Uranus square to Pluto was also in operation in 1814-1815 at the conclusion of the Napoleonic war, and in 1644-1645 during the phase of the English Civil War which led to the destruction of the King’s army by the forces of Parliament.
