Greta Thunberg – charging into danger ++ Chris Packham + sister Beata

Greta Thunberg, the young Swedish climate change activist, now on a mission to bring aid and highlight the plight of Palestinians in Gaza, is sailing into what will be a confrontation with the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) today or tomorrow. She is travelling with 12 pro-Palestinian activists, including a French member of the European parliament of Palestinian descent. Some of the activists on board have been criticised for their past remarks against Israel.

The World Food Programme has said that Gaza is facing imminent famine as 2.3 million people are acutely malnourished and one in five Palestinians is on the brink of starvation.

She said in an interview: “We are willingly and knowingly taking those risks, because we believe that the bigger risk here is to be silent in the face of genocide, in the face of injustice and mass starvation of over two million people. I am so much more scared of the world’s silence and passivity — than anything that could happen to us on this boat.”

Thunberg who is autistic, started holding a “school strike” in Stockholm in 2018 when she was 15 to pressure the government into taking action on climate change. By the next year, she was leading the largest climate protest in history: four million people around the world took part in the climate strike on September 20, 2019. She has been nominated for the Nobel peace prize five times, and is Time Magazine’s youngest ever person of the year.

The plight of the people of Gaza has been picked up by Generation Z, many of whom first came to politics through the climate movement that she symbolised. A US poll showed only 16 per cent of adults under 30 supported the American government providing military aid for Israel, compared with 56 per cent of those aged 65 and older.

She was born 3 January 2003, Stockholm, Sweden, no birth time (though Starkman speculates on 3am). She has a Sun and Moon in Capricorn with a tough-minded Saturn in Gemini opposition Pluto plus a volatile, excitable, passionately enthusiastic and stubborn Venus Mars in Scorpio square Uranus on one side and square a super-confident Jupiter in flamboyant Leo on the other.

What is also significant is her Sun conjunct Chiron hinting at a struggle to find her own inner self but equally giving her a capacity to understand the needs of others. And her Gemini North Node which gives her a ‘bull in a china shop’ approach, with a tendency to rush helter skelter into action, an insistence on being a free spirit and a difficulty in understanding why others won’t listen.

She looks rattled from the 17th of this month till early July with tr Uranus square her Mars/Node midpoint which suggests upsets within her community. That repeats on and off into early 2026. There look to be more calamities and blockages in 2026 so her whirlwind approach will continue to rush into risky situations.

Her synastry with Israel is dreadful with her Sun (Moon) square the Israel Neptune; her reforming Uranus in a fractious opposition to the Israel Mars and square the Israel Taurus Sun; her Jupiter conjunct the Israel Pluto Saturn; her uncompromising Saturn is conjunct the Israel Uranus with her Pluto in opposition. And if a 3 am birth time is accurate then her Leo Midheaven will be conjunct the Israel Mars.  All at cross purposes.

Her relationship chart with Israel has a hostile power-struggling composite Mars Pluto conjunction and a tussle for the upper hand Jupiter conjunct Pluto – all opposition a destabilizing Uranus.

She is no better with Netanyahu with her Uranus opposition his Mars as well.

Her tendency to head straight into the eye of the storm must alarm her parents.

ADD ON:

Add On: Chris Packham, the UK TV Wildlife presenter and activist, 4 May 1961, who has been diagnosed with Aspergers, has the same slightly sanctimonious, harassing approach to his pet causes which can be off putting. Greta’s autism may result in similar.

Her family do seem to be strong personalities. Her sister has just emerged as a singer and actress, 3 November 2005, Stockholm.

  1. Greta joined the misinformed to create more disinformation. While presenting herself as a victim . Wander how that shows in her chart ? Probably the dramatic Jupiter creates drama . In her age , I will think that personal and sexual relationships is of great focus . How this part play in her life ?

  2. I think Greta is extremely brave.

there’s some interesting interpretations of Saturn in Gemini here – as a paid up member er of the Saturn in Gemini tribe, I’ll add the following interpretations – communicating complex issues is a lifelong journey and learning; and the ability to tackle tricky issues without the usual Gemini skimming over the surface.

With that Pluto opposition, Greta is certainly not afraid to cut through the crap and communicate where all others are making excuses and not owning up to the truth. Exactly what she has done with Gaza. Exactly what she has done with climate change, which for the record, is very real and factually correct, but inconvenient for many.

    • I agree Lisa, Greta is very brave. She walks the talk which I associate with her mercury placement in earth sign Capricorn – but also Saturn in Gem.
I feel with Greta, there’s a strong need to suffer. To accept suffering. This I associate with Capricorn. Greta also has natal Sun conjunct Chiron which would amplify this.
As an aside, one of my parents has Mercury in Capricorn. They nearly always embrace doing things – even everyday things, the hard way. Often needlessly so in my view e.g undertaking a domestic chore by hand when using an appliance would make life easier. A sort of compulsion , to hard graft.

      • Agree. She has a Scorpio Mars too. That’s a turbocharged determination and refusal to give in. There can also something of the crusader or even the martyr about it. I think that serves her well and you saw it in evidence when she gave DT the infamous Mars in Scorpio ‘death stare’ during his last presidency! That in combination with her Capricorn makes her very driven. It’s quite a powerful combination and not to be underestimated.

        • Certainly determined and I would say, compulsively driven. But I worry Greta is not a person at peace.
And if so, that’s extremely sad.

          • I don’t think activists and campaigners are ever at peace… that notion runs counter to campaigning for a better world. Unrest at injustice or wrongdoing is the motivator for action. It’s a challenging gift to have.

  3. Since the polar bears are in rather rude health and a great global greening is now taking place, how many others will also taking their leave of the climate doomsday cult?

Due to the theatrical pedigree of her family, might their synastry also be worth considering?

She does seem to come by her operatic methods quite honestly, that’s for sure.

  4. First time I’ve seen Saturn in Gemini described as ‘tough minded’ and it’s given me food for thought.
I think self critical of their own mercurial thinking is another way to describe this aspect.

    • I’m only just getting over my Saturn in Gemini need to keep learning. Always felt I didn’t know enough and there was more to learn – being in my 2nd house it played into a lack of self-esteem when I was younger but with Jupiter-Neptune across in the relationship houses, I always felt others knew more than me. Doesn’t help that it’s part of a t-square with Mercury in Virgo – so can be super critical, miss the point of conversations, want to fill them with facts to make up for insecurities about lacking the social skills – especially small talk.

      • I second all of that, even without those oppositions and Mercury in Virgo. I’m living with a Gemini Saturn in the third house, and it’s definitely a lifelong learning process. It keeps you mentally young, but as you mentioned, the challenges of low self-esteem and resulting perfectionism and criticism are very real. My other half also has Saturn in Gemini, opposing that Jupiter–Neptune conjunction, and he has a very dark, killer sense of humor, one that doesn’t shy away from making jokes about taboo subjects in a mischievously Mercurial way. Frankie Boyle, David Walliams, Matt Lucas, Dylan Moran, Jessica Hynes and Jimmy Carr are also part of that Saturn in Gemini generation.

        • Agreed. I struggle with confidence issues communicating and public speaking. It used to take me a while to craft an email to my complete satisfaction. At school, I’d whisper answers and ideas to my Aries friend who would effortlessly blurt out the answer. Saturn in Gem also in my 3rd house.
Issues with focus sometimes too: needing to re-read or watch again film a second time, as the monkey mind kicks in.
I believe it can be a marker for learning disability too.
Certain associated genetic disorders within the familial line or similar astro markers within the immediate family e.g. afflicted or retrograde mercury.
Negative thinking is often a marker… but so too is sardonic wit !

          • And others given credit for your previously expressed ideas. I’d think ‘I already said that’
Equally, not speaking up in meetings then someone breezilly asking the exact same thing you wanted (but were too self critical) to ask.

          • Sorry. Saturn in solar 5th house. Gem is the 3rd house.
I’m hoping Saturn in Gem isn’t linked to Dementia. Restriction and thinking processes and expression. Saturn in Gem came at a time when it opposed foggy Neptune in Sag.
I”m sorry for dwelling on negative interpretations of Saturn in Gem. Appreciate there are benefits to this aspect too.

          • Agreeing with just about all those things Caroline – although I was a loudmouth kid so would put my hand up if I knew the answer. But only if I knew it. Took me into my 40s to learn to ask questions – both academically and personally – questions are the hallmark of Gemini – Saturn doesn’t want to admit it doesn’t know everything.

Despite our comments, overall I think it’s probably one of the easier placements for Saturn – if there is such a thing!

          • “Despite our comments, overall I think it’s probably one of the easier placements for Saturn – if there is such a thing!”
Thanks GD. I’ll cling to that 🙂

      • Some of that stuff about learning to listen is also Leo eh! (Ref Liz Greene’s essay on Leo in ‘Relating’ – Parsifal) hope you’re doing well Gnarly Dude!

    • Oh really. What do you think the connection is? Jupiter at the 29th degree of Gem?

Greta is a fantastic example of ‘walking the talk’. Perhaps another Saturn in Gemini trait?

I hope Greta stays safe. She seems strongly led by her emotions.
