The Los Angeles riots against Trump’s draconian measures on immigration which put the country on a war footing are being seen as a seminal moment. He sent in the National Guard for the first time in decades to suppress citizens on domestic soil against the wishes of a state’s governor, using a rarely invoked anti-foreign invasion law. And Pete Hegseth, defence secretary, even threatened to send in the marines to quell the unrest over raids against suspected illegal migrants. Critics warn the administration is increasingly ruling in defiance of US Constitution and political norms.
One commentator wrote: “We are witnessing the first stages of a Trump police state. Now that Donald Trump’s tariffs have been halted, his big, beautiful bill has been stymied, and his multi-billionaire tech bro has turned on him, how does he demonstrate his power?”
“History shows that once an authoritarian ruler establishes the infrastructure of a police state, that same infrastructure can be turned on anyone.”
Other political analysts suggest “The most consequential political life at stake here is that of Donald Trump himself – whose ultra-adversarial, bully-like tactics have yet to be tested as they are right now in California. There has never been anything quite like the anti-ICE protests during either of Trump’s terms. The Women’s Marches and BLM protests of his first administration may have, at times, turned rowdy and chaotic – but their violence was never directed at the White House like it is right now. This moment is different. Very different.” “This is a level of pushback practically without precedent – risky and uncertain amid an atmosphere of anti-Trumpism whose long-anticipated #resistance has finally materialised.”
Since 2018, California has been a “sanctuary state” that limits official cooperation with federal immigration authorities. At present, there are more than 600 sanctuary states, counties and cities, including Oregon, Washington, Colorado, New York City, Atlanta and Washington DC.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, about a dozen states – including Texas, Florida and North Carolina – have laws prohibiting their cities from adopting sanctuary policies.
The Los Angeles 4 September 1781 chart has tr Neptune squaring the Uranus for a nerve-stretching few weeks starting exactly now running into July and repeating into 2026; plus its Virgo Sun will catch this autumn’s Pisces Lunar Eclipse for an unsettled crisis. With greater pressures and uncertainty through 2026/7 as tr Pluto makes its Pluto Return and tr Neptune tr Saturn square the Neptune and then Venus into 2027/28. The relationship with Trump which is ramped-up, power-struggling and hostile at the best of times is under serious pressure this year with high anxiety in 2026 and worse in 2027/8. There is a suspicious Saturn Neptune conjunction; a bitterly determined Mars Pluto Jupiter square Sun Mercury; and Algol conjunct the composite North Node. So LA could indeed be the eye of the storm. The Los Angeles Incorporated 4 April 1850 chart looks rattled now with the Solar Arc Uranus opposition the Aries Sun and the Solar Eclipses this year catching the Saturn in Aries.
The relationship with Trump is aggravated this year with tensions erupting in 2026.
Gavin Newsom, the California governor, 10 October 1967 5.13 am San Francisco, CA, a Sun Libra opposition Saturn; with a determined Mars in Sagittarius square Pluto Uranus in Virgo which latter clashes with Trump’s Gemini Sun and Sag Moon.
He has threatened to sue President for calling the National Guard into the state which he described as “illegal, immoral and unconstitutional”.
His relationship with Trump has a chained-together and resenting it composite Saturn square Pluto which is being tested to the limits at the moment with tr Uranus square the composite Pluto and moving to conjunct the composite Saturn from July onwards into 2026.
One theory is that Trump wants to damage Newsom’s chances of running in 2028. It’s unlikely that
Newsom will since there’s nothing cheerful on his chart then.
What is happening in Los Angeles is just the beginning of what is still to come, Trump is going to face resistance of his policies all over the US. We have seen it with Harvard University already and it will keep spreading. Pluto entered Aquarius in November 2024 and it will stay there until 2043, and it must still settle. Pluto in Aquarius is family oriented, humanitarian and very diverse. We know Trump is anti-diversity, he is divisive. In many years to come Pluto is going to transform the world, nations, countries and communities , people are going to live together in harmony and accept each other as they are. I see more if his billionaire friends also turning on him in future, we are already seeing it with the likes of Tim Cook, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and many others, they have publicly criticised his tarrifs and policies. And they are the ones who backed him to win. Trump’s policies are anti-Pluto in Aquarius, I am not sure how he is going to be relevant in future.
Sadly I see Gavin Newsom has his Saturn return now and until around 2028, even if he doesn’t win or survive Trump’s arrogance, the people have power, they are going to give him a tough time. US states are autonomous, as per the constitution Trump should have consulted or got a request from Gavin Newsom to deploy national guard, since he disrespects the law and constitution, he bypassed him.
Confusion with military sounds like Neptune in Aries, doesn’t it? As KG mentioned, the protests have been peaceful. In the past few hours, the WH has activated 700 Marines and an additional 2,000 National Guardsmen, for 4700+ soldiers. But, interestingly, the WH has not made arrangements for those that are already herecto have a cot, or even food. It’s a tishshow. I work in DTLA. People WFH in droves today. Restaurants were sending employees home because no one was there. The WH brinksmanship (if you want to use that word) is hurting businesses that are already on razor-thin profit margins.
I read through Marjorie’s past analyses on L.A. and that there is possibly an Aries sun chart, which she even favored. I think Neptune and Saturn both in Aries right now could speak to that but our official Virgo sun chart is impacted by the current nodal axis.
I live here. I love my city as many Angelenos do. Rolling tanks down Sunset Blvd. isnt who we are.
Just a point of clarification because that news quote doesn’t really describe the original protests–one in the city of L.A. and one in another city that is within L.A. county–that one is the Paramount protest. Both of those protests were small in terms of how many people were involved–about 100 people in Paramount. No grand crowd at the L.A. City site. Since those original protests, there have been much larger protests which have been overwhelmingly peaceful. Trump called in the National Guard when the number of protesters was at tops 1,000 people. I just need that to be out there. I know it’s not astrological, but it’s factual.
Marjorie, if you can give us updates on Steven Miller, Steve Bannon and Hegseth it might be worthwhile. This is Miller’s and Bannon’s thing–their constituency are white supremicists. They are the one’s promoting the “great replacement” and who are afraid of the whites becoming a minority in this country. As for Trump–I suspect he has gone completely nuts–like that cartoon Napoleon character on Looney Tunes. He keeps saying things like he’s in control of the country and the world, etc. etc. What he says are the words of a very sick person.
Burt: I have the same question for Marjorie. Trump’s chart or Newsom’s re 2028?
Is it Trump’s chart that doesn’t look cheerful in 2028? Or Newsom’s.
BTW, that “commentator” quoted about a Trump police state is not some random pundit. He’s Robert Reich, the former U.S. Secretary of Labor. I think knowing who issues this warning gives it more gravitas. Full Guardian column here: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/jun/09/trump-police-state-robert-reich
How does Trump’s chart relocated to Los Angeles look like? I have this impression that he was never successful there, and at one point I think he had a mansion in Palos Verdes. Have to look that story up somewhere.
He has a golf course in Palos Verdes. He didn’t win Emmy’s (TV awards) for his show. I’d read somewhere that he had wanted to attend USC and study film. When you think about the large number of Hollywood figures who are appalled by the man it seems reasonable to think he might want revenge BUT I suspect this has more to do with Steven Miller who is from L.A. and again, was shunned by peers because…he was strange. Again, I’m sorry I don’t have the astrological chops to contribute that type of info. One thing I remember Marjorie pointing out in her analysis of Bannon and Miller were aspects that indicated “mommy issues”–I guess a poor relationship with one’s mother for a man might lead to acting out against … everyone? I don’t know…
I’m so broken hearted about these raids that are reminiscent of what the Germans did to Jews–just terrorizing people, and in this case, to provoke a response to justify more police/military in cities that are cosmopolitan and liberal. Notice that the raids have not been in red states that have immigrants working on ranches and meat packing plants and in other businesses. Those places might not arose such protest.
It’s awful. I’m hoping that people stay home and stop shopping and working. I’m from L.A. and taught in L.A. Our schools have kids that speak over 200 languages. It’s wonderful! My most pleasant students were the immigrant children who were respectful and eager to learn. The families were lovely people. I am grateful for having had the experience of working with them.
