Boris’s chameleon cabinet – more of the same ** updated

The Boris Cabinet reshuffle has brought in even more malleable, jitterbug Mutable types. Like attracts like. From the Latin mutabilis “changeable,” from mutare “to change. Of which Boris is the walking example with a Sun Venus Mercury in Gemini and a T square to Uranus Pluto in Virgo opposition Saturn in Pisces square Mars in Gemini. Such an imbalance leads to extreme restlessness, an inconsistent and unmethodical approach, poor concentration, indecision, nervous strain. A focal point Mutable Mars is even more so – scattered, disorganised, easily bored, overly impulsive, taking no heed of consequences.

[Mutable signs are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces. As opposed to Fixed Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius. And Cardinal (initiative) Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn.]

Boris’s Rasputin sidekick Dominic Cummings is a Sun Neptune in Sagittarius opposition Saturn square Mars (Moon) in Pisces – and he appears to thrive on destructive chaos for its own sake. What anchors him is a fanatical ideologue’s Air Grand Trine of Pluto trine Saturn trine Node.

Michael Gove is a Sun, Mercury, Venus in Virgo with Uranus Pluto also in Virgo.

Priti Patel, Secretary of State is a Mars Saturn in Gemini opposition Neptune, with her Aries Sun in a Cardinal T Square.

Dominic Raab, Foreign Secretary, is a Sun Mercury in Pisces square Neptune.

And last but not least is the new Chancellor of the Exchequer, Risha Sunak, 12 May 1980, of the billionaire father-in-law, who stepped into the effectively downgraded Treasury job when Sajid Javid refused to bow the knee to Cummings. He has Jupiter Mars in Virgo with a Mutable T Square of Neptune opposition Venus square Saturn in Virgo plus a stalwart and steadier Taurus Sun opposition Uranus.

He looks uncertain, discontented and panicked from late April onwards, on and off till late 2021 with tr Neptune opposition his Saturn with exceptionally tricky relationships with both Boris and Cummings, so conflict between No 10 and No 11 may not have been resolved with a change of cast.

It just seems strange to have so many chameleon, ‘windmill in a storm’ Mutable types in charge of a Fixed UK. Though what they all home into since their Mutable planets tend to be in early degrees is the UK Pluto at 2 Pisces which was elbowed by tr Uranus sextile as Brexit got underway in earnest this last New Year. The Mutable ‘going with the flow’ can be helpful in times of rapid change but is not helpful for building strong, stable foundations once the transition is accomplished.

It’s perhaps also indicative of their over adaptability and susceptibility to being pushed around by a strong figure, which the unelected PM adviser Dominic Cummings appears to be. He’s a man on a mission to turn everything on its head no matter how much he has to lie and deceive to achieve his aims. His Pluto (on one leg of his wedded-to-a-cause, true believer Air Grand Trine) sits on the UK Uranus and his Uranus squares the UK Moon opposition Sun and opposes the UK Node. Change for change’s sake appears to be his motto – which is the negative face of Uranus. Collapse the old structure with no ability to put better in its place.

Add on: A quick scan round another nine Cabinet members, some old and some new. Some like Robert Buckland, Grant Shapps and Brandon Lewis have five or six Mutable planets – the first two in Virgo, Lewis mainly Gemini. Ben Wallace and Stephen Barclay have Venus Mars in Gemini square Pluto in Virgo. Barclay, Lewis and Matt Hancock also have Saturn in hard aspect to Neptune in Mutables. Suella Braverman, the new Attorney General for England and Wales, 3 April 1980, has a Mutable T Square of Saturn in Virgo opposition Mercury square Neptune in Sagittarius.

Open the Cabinet doors and windows to let in a Force Nine Gale and they’d scatter to the four winds.

  1. Oh well the tweets have disappeared. Seems that someone doesn’t want us to know what’s actually going on with Braverman, Elliott, Cummings et al.

  2. As I mentioned on an earlier thread here Cummings has the chart of a revolutionary not a conservative .There is no Earth in his chart so he is not a materialist. Trashing the old order one way or another is the theme of the Saturn Pluto Conjunction in Capricorn and Pluto levels before it rebuilds. That is not going to happen under politicians with fixed charts is it ?

  3. I can’t believe Cummings’ chart, even without a reliable time. Sun/Nep square Moon (trust me? I don’t think so!) opposite Saturn, no earth at all and Moon/Mars in water, square……ooh, a short lived tenure for sure. Uranus is his vocational indicator square Mars (weak in Pisces) square Jup/Sat/Neptune ….excuse moi, have to lie down in a darkened room to wonder how this chart has Power? I don’t have an opinion on the man but in the government…..ooooh, and combined with Boris…..pass the gin and the loaded gun.

    • Thanks Hugh and Maggy,

Uranus is also Trump’s vocational indicator – can be a reformer and innovative or a wrecker. Being ornery and against the status quo just to stand out from the crowd. Quite agree I can’t see where his power comes from. Will do a post when I get my feet out of the mire.

    • Well I wonder if I accidentally touched upon earlier with my tongue-in-cheek comment about WiFi availability being the only weakness; – in the Digital Age, perhaps these are the new power brokers?

  4. Thanks once again Marjorie for your look at the new cabinet. It seems to concentrate Cummings’ power. Have we ever seen such a powerful adviser before? Sometimes it feels like Thomas Cromwell has risen from the grave and is seeking vengeance! Who’s head will end on a pike this time? What astrologically speaking will make Johnson and Cummings move against one another?

    • Yes, Thomas Cromwell does spring to mind. Pity we don’t have a date of birth. And another essential figure hovering about is the clever and sinister Cardinal Wolsey, born in March 1473 – again no date. If this year is correct the the all-powerful Cardinal had Pluto in Virgo, Saturn in Gemini, Jupiter in Sagittarius, Mercury in Pisces, Mars in Pisces, and probably the Sun in Pisces (1st – 12th March). These are all Julian Calendar. Henry VIII was a crabby Cancer (28 June 1491), but had Venus in Gemini, Mars in Virgo, Jupiter in Gemini, Neptune in Sagittarius, and most probably a Virgo ascendant.

Here’s a quote about Cardinal Wolsey:

“Wolsey’s position in power relied solely on maintaining good relations with Henry. He grew increasingly suspicious of the “minions” – young, influential members of the Privy chamber – particularly after infiltrating one of his own men into the group. He attempted many times to disperse them from court, giving them jobs that took them to the Continent and far from the King. After the Amicable Grant failed, the minions began to undermine him once again. Consequently, Wolsey devised a grand plan of administrative reforms, incorporating the notorious Eltham Ordinances of 1526. This reduced the members of the Privy Council from twelve to six, removing Henry’s friends such as Sir William Compton and Nicholas Carew.” (Wikipedia)

  5. Fiddle playing is still in my mind, as it has been since 2016. The fact that nothing has changed, at least ostensibly, since the vote to leave Europe proves my point, but still floors me.
I believe the Conservative party is restructuring itself as well as the institutions, in order to remain the world rulers, schemers or pot stirrers.
Hanging onto the established institutions was one of the major things that differentiated the Tories from the Whigs. But now, when it comes to the old structures, to maintain its power the party has to bend a little.
There’s no better way to evidence of this than to have a load of Gemini influences running the show.

  6. You know how I feel about Brexit in general and Boris in particular. That said, this is still just mildly crazy compared to what’s going on with Trump’s Worst Collection of Gemini Ever Administration (disclaimer, some of the people I like the best IRL are Gemini, and I work the best, professionally, with Gemini and Sadgittarius heavy people, so I’m shocked they’ve found all the worst of this sign). I think there was a news report on phonecall with Trump just cutting Boris, who tried to be the voice of reason, short.

  7. The appointment of Suella Braverman as Attorney General is worrying. She is unreserved in her criticism of the judiciary- citing the challenges on prorogation and Gina Miller’s A50 challenge as reasons that “the courts have to much power”. She’s already parroting the “take back control” line. And lo and behold, she has Neptune, Saturn, Mercury and Jupiter in mutable signs. (Dob, 3/4/1980).

  8. I’ve always found mutable energy every bit as stubborn as fixed. The key difference being that rather than standing their ground and refusing to budge, it’s more of a stubborn avoidance. Not so much refusing to move from the path, but refusing to go down the path at all. I wonder how this is going to work out

      • Devious and deceptive fits as well – and I speak as a highly Mutable type myself. I’m adept at ducking and diving when it suits me.

        • On the theme of political cunning and deviousness, I looked up the natal chart of Niccolò Machiavelli, 3/5/1469 (quite an uncanny physical resemblance to Cummings!). Not only did he have a mutable T-Square, focal point Mercury in Gemini square Mars in Pisces opposition Pluto in Virgo, but Mercury was also the focal point of a Yod, quincunxing Neptune in Scorpio (Neptune conjunction this MC) and his Ascendant in Capricorn. Mercury in Gemini is also part of an Air Grand Trine.

      • And “stubborn avoidance” also describes our dear friends, the horses of this world. I’ve many Sagittarians in my life, and many Geminis. The best way to approach a horse is from the side, calmly. I have to say this might be simplistic, but it works quite well with Sagittarians too. As for Geminis…..mostly, I just let them get on with whirling about until they are bored. But realise this probably isn’t the best strategy.

        • Thanks Jane, I wonder if it works on 13 year olds? I have one with 5x mutable and the homework battles are epic Threat of WiFi loss seems to be my only effective tactic so far

          • Good luck with that! My beloved Sagittarian brother is also a multiple mutable. Nobody is more stubborn than he can be. Still, once inspired by something he really gives it everything – see Mr Cummings for example of this mode. The battles with his Sagittarian son re homework etc are hilarious from a distance…..peas in a pod, neither can see this. All I know is go sideways, chuck in some kind of inspirational dream, and have the patience of a saint, a rock, or some other endlessly patient thing…..

  9. Thanks Marjorie – much to ponder! I’m curious to know what you think about the links between Dominic Cummings’ natal chart and the 1066 chart for England. There are some interesting connections – Cummings’ Sun-Neptune opposition Saturn makes a t square with 1066 Pluto at 3 Pisces. It could be a grand cross if you add Jupiter from 1066, at 7 Virgo. His Moon’s node in Aquarius (7) is conjunct 1066 Mars at 8 Aquarius – fighting the people? Cummings Jupiter in Sagittarius is square the 1066 Saturn in Virgo – very descriptive of legislative details and tensions, visions versus details. There’s more I think, too. I haven’t looked at any other UK charts, am supposed to be working!
