Crypto heaven – risks and rewards

The value of the global cryptocurrency market has reached $4tn for the first time after the passage of the US digital asset legislation – the so-called Genius Act. It marks “one of the most significant moves” towards mainstream adoption of crypto. It is a huge turnaround since 2022, when its value fell to about $800bn following the failure of crypto exchange FTX.

Trump who received hundreds of millions of dollars in campaign funding from crypto executives has been behind support for a renewed push which investors predict will pave the way for Wall Street banks, money managers and other companies to invest in digital assets or create their own tokens. He is also preparing to sign an executive order to open up the $9tn US retirement market to crypto and other alternative investments.

Critics warn that tying crypto closer to traditional finance poses grave risks in the event of another market crash. Democrat senator Elizabeth Warren said that the Genius Act “lacks the basic safeguards necessary to ensure that stablecoins don’t blow up our entire financial system”.

She also argued that the issuance of stablecoins by private companies risked “concentrating too much economic power in the hands of a few”.

The crypto industry — including groups such as Coinbase, Binance and Crypto.com — faced a series of lawsuits under former president Joe Biden’s administration. During the second Trump presidency, those cases have all been dropped.

The ‘Genius’ Act was signed into existence on 18 July 2025, which puts the Saturn Neptune conjunction in Aries in the 5th house of speculation in an over hopeful, stop-start square to Jupiter in the 8th house of business finances, along with Venus in Gemini.  An ambitious Mars in Virgo sits beside the South Node which could suggests a tendency to build castles in the air rather than ensuring the foundations are well-established.

Alphard sits on the Midheaven which is in the Hydra constellation, the single star in the neck of the Water Snake. It has also been called the heart of the snake. On the positive side it can give wisdom, musical and artistic appreciation but in negative mode can lead to turbulence, lack of self-control, immorality, revolting deeds and self-destruction. ‘The danger is marked if either Sun, Moon, Mars, Neptune, Ascendant or MC are linked up with this star.’ (Astrology King.)

The Cancer Sun is also exactly conjunct Procyon bringing a promise of wealth, fame, and good fortune but with the warning that any enterprise created in haste will not last. There is a tendency to a hot temper and impudence. Rise and success are found with it, but a later fall from high position is also indicated. (Astrology King) Fixed star Scheat is also in the speculative 5th house close to Saturn Neptune which in its negative mode is associated with shipwrecks.

The Part of Fortune is also conjunct the Midheaven which promises luck and success. My sense would be (but don’t bet on it!) that some will do well and others will be ruined.

PS. I really cannot get my head round crypto so more knowledgeable types do feel free to comment.

PPS. I adore Scrat from the movie cartoon Ice Age who is endlessly hunting a runaway acorn. Seems fitting.

  1. Crypto isn’t illegal, but listening to the Law Enforcement, you could be forgiven for thinking it is. I’ve been watching Crypto for years, investing in it, being scammed for it, and generally finding it entertaining. The movement of Crypto seems to be linked to Astrology – I always knew when to buy, when to sell based on astrology.

  2. My 2¢.
Yesterday was listening to a podcast on how people made money from crypto.
    1 stage: Mining
2nd Stage: Trading. And that was the rise in crypto exchanges. And Biden Administration started scrutinising on them.
3rd Stage: Your own Meme Coins. Start trading.
4th Stage:Turn your meme coins into stable coins (via the guideline of the Bill) We are going to see a massive influx of new coins.
5th Stage: Ipo your coin company.
At this point I laughed. Iykyk. The podcast ended here. Those who are smart and have seen enough will know the 6th stage.

Now stable coin will be a very useful for transaction. And it might just reached a point outside of the USA where all payments will be paid via scanning qr code. Tourists are noticing street vendors in Bangkok doing it and they have no means to pay thus can only walk away. I have walk out of shops that only accept visa/ mastercard payment. (I am only using them for large purchases to prevent fraud). The issue now is banks are not reissuing cards as they tend to do in the past. If reported as fraud they just freeze and investigate. I have other forms of non cash payment methods sadly the shop only chose 1. Which is very bad and very weird. Most shops have up to 7 to 8 locally (eg, Apple pay, Google pay, bank transfer etc)

  3. It seems to me that crypto currency is literally based on “no thing” – not the gold standard or government backed banking. I’m reminded of the King Lear tragedy, when Cordelia is asked by her father what she has to say following her sisters’ lavish (and insincere) praise of him she replies “Nothing” he responds “Nothing will come of nothing”. She is disinherited and it all ends in tears. An analogy?

    • But even if you take a look at ‘normal’, plain money – what is it backed by? Not by gold. But economists will tell you by the value of goods and services a country emitting the currency is producing. Which is so nebulous and Neptunian and prone to wild imaginings. Money has value because we assign it to it and believe in it. That is also something that could, theoretically, crumble.

      • I forgot to add a true cautionary tale non UK readers may not be aware of: a few years ago a man living in Wales asked his girlfriend to take some rubbish to the local recycling centre. A bag containing the hard drive from an old computer was accidentally included. He took his local council to court in his efforts to gain access for a thorough search of the site, he lost his case. His current holding of crypto currency has been estimated at hundreds of millions of pounds sterling, possibly one billion …..but he can’t access it! His birthchart would be interesting to see!

  4. The law chart has Juno Moneta on the Ascendant. When the Greenback dollar was introduced (17 July 1861 2:35 pm, Washington DC) to fund the America Civil War, the Taurus Juno Moneta was conjunct Pluto with a Scorpio Ascendant and Uranus in the 7h. The Genius law chart is about the same exact time and date as that chart.

The Greenback debt based currency and newly introduced income tax to pay for the debt was needed because the tariffs that funded the government at the time were drastically reduced when the importing South left the Union and they couldn’t collect tariffs. It strikes me that this chart could be related to the tariffs returning. The 1861 Taurus Juno with 21° Scorpio Ascendant is now the Scorpio Juno with 18° Scorpio Ascendant. Has she returned to undo “the full faith and credit” backed American dollar currency and replace it with a crypto backed currency funded by tariffs?

The value of the world’s GDP is estimated to be $105 trillion per year. The US is $27.7 trillion of that, China $18.2, the EU $20 trillion. Japan $4.5, India $3.6, UK $3.3 and Canada and Brazil both at $2.1 with Russia at $2.

All the money is $80 trillion. All the gold is $10 trillion. (In 1971, Nixon had to end the convertibility of dollars to gold when the world’s GDP was $1.8 trillion and the US was $1.1 trillion of that. Gold got too small.) Global crypto $3.8 trillion. It isn’t properly sized to replace money. It isn’t properly sized to replace gold but with a larger footprint it could. It could be the return of gold backed or gold currency of a larger and different type.

In colonial Virginia, there was a currency shortage and so everyone had to conduct business in tobacco warehouse receipts. If the government is considering rebacking the currency with something other than the US military/economy what would they choose next? Like gold in 1971, has the US economy become too small for the world’s needs? Stablecoins will be backed one-to-one with US dollars but has the option for other backed assets. That means they could be bigger than the US economy.

All of this is starting to make a lot more sense now. This is why the US is reindustrializing now. We are trying to grow our economy enough to give everyone the time to transition to the next thing that is needed for growth. Assets have been ballooning in nominal price hitting young people and cratering birth rates, because the US economy hasn’t been able to keep up with global growth. Essentially we need to go back to using other things like tobacco warehouse receipts, we’ll just throw that into the stablecoin asset backing. Stablecoin will be based on the best assets of all the economies of the world. It is genius.

    • Do you have any data as to how much money actually exists in the world and circulates? Physical money. I wonder if someone reported on how much money was there in the eurozone back when euro was introduced, because that included clear conversion of the old currency into the new one, and that had to be counted precisely.

  5. Crypto wants freedom from government.
Fiat currency is hardly free from corruption, graft, destruction, war, unethical investment.Think of banks/governments urging you to buy RRSP’s-in Canada- to save on tax-that invest in fracking, poverty stricken countries resources etc.
Digital currency will be government’s next shackle of choice-emulating China’s Social Credit System.Your spending choices will be tracked and traced-your freedom curtailed based on your political choices and affiliations. You go to fill up your car with gas and lo and behold -your shut out-as you made a “wrong choice” -a donation to a cause deemed unacceptable.
To think that crypto has unusually sinister potential or motives is Pollyanna.

  6. Cryptp was invented during Uranus in Taurus, the sign of money. It is a Uranian concept. It wiil no doubt flourish under Uranus in Gemini, which will enhance the digital age, but may lose some appeal during Uranus in Cancer, which will slowly square Neptune in Aries. The exact square will be completed when Uranus reaches the first degrees of Leo square Neptune in early Taurus. When Uranus in late Leo reaches the MC of the Crypto Act in the 2040s, it will oppose transiting Pluto and the US Moon. That will be a revoltutionary time that could see the end of it. Maybe the even greater obscene wealth created by crypto will unleash the second American Revolution. Uranus in late Leo will be conjunct Trump’s Mars-Ascendant. He will be gone but the Revolution could be all about his legacy, including the Crypto Act.

    • 2042-43 looks like a patch of time where there will be a very significant reordering of the political and financial order, probably driven by a debt crisis. By then, Saturn will be in the middle degrees of Scorpio, where it will square Uranus in Leo and oppose Neptune in Taurus. A t-square configuration involving the outer planets, and moving to aspect the US Moon. By then Pluto will be readying to ingress into Pisces.

Definitely looks volatile during that period, with a lot of entrenched positions and inflexible, egoistical, dogmatic leaders in power. We could see then a could see a clash between entrenched elites (Leo/Scorpio) and collective demands (Pluto in Aquarius/Pisces), possibly fueled by wealth inequality or tech-driven disparities. The crypto/digital currency order collapses and is replaced by something more collective.

    • But created during pluto in scorpio era…coming from darkness. It’s liked by wealthy since it is an asset which can’t be frozen by govts in times of war or being chased by law. With pluto in Capricorn wealth hoarding unscrupulous era, it’s obvious as Aquarius people’s rebellion era begins that they r having jitters and doing all to safety vault their hoardings.
It’s cons since it’s can’t be tracked: neither source nor flow. Pros is yes with Chinese social credit system coming with socialism where assets n rights r taken away of anyone whom govt decrees traitor..it’s supports for survival and escape and release too.
It’s natural that as joblosses ascend globally due to AI, such will be ways to survive.

  7. Crypto was always going to dominate now and in many years to come. With Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius, things are looking good for crypto, I can still remember an article that Marjorie wrote a few years ago about Bitcoin. I mentioned in my comments that crypto will replace traditional currencies, some people here argued that no that will never happen since crypto is a scam, it is definitely not a scam. Pluto in Capricorn birthed crypto and Pluto in Aquarius is implementing and enhancing it, I am one of the crypto investors and invested some years ago. And I know the first ‘Trillionare’ is going to come from crypto. In the near future I see Larry Ellison becoming the richest person in the world, but not a trillionaire yet. His wealth will be boosted by AI. Crypto is the future of money, I see Ethereum which was born on 1 August 2015 leading the pack, it might overtake Bitcoin in coming years. I am not a financial adviser but I will advise any person on earth now to invest more into crypto, that is where good returns are going to be.

    • Nice to know your investments but anything which isn’t transparent isn’t accepted by world. Masses eventually throw it out whether it’s monarchies or currencies. And that’s how things remain ethical and acceptable to all.

      • It will be accepted by almost all nations around the world. Most people around the world are still not exposed and know how crypto works. Crypto is on par with Pluto in Aquarius, it is going to reduce poverty around the world as more countries adopts it, and people become more literate. Crypto works better than the traditional currencies like your dollars, yen, rupees, yuan, Australian dollars and others, they are unequal. If you are anywhere in the world and you have yen, rupee, yuan or any, and someone with USA dollar for example, you don’t have the same buying power. USA dollar or the British pound is always stronger than your currency, but with crypto it’s different. If you are in Asia, Middle East, South America or anywhere in the world, and someone is in USA and you own crypto, you have the same buying power. For example in I have 1 BTC and I am in Japan and you are in USA and you also have 1 BTC, we have the same amount of money, and the same buying power. That’s some of the benefits of crypto.

    • the british chancellor loves crypto…in fact she is about to seize 5bn worth! Crypto is like heaven for cash strapped governments.

  8. The danger of ‘crypto’ per se is the development of the surveillance state in the form of Central Bank Digital Currencies that can be manipulated to hide the debt generated by countries particularly in wars. (Trump’s big beautiful bill includes $2.5 billion for building digital surveillance). A programmable currency could allow government to control who, what and why certain people receive or spend money. It is the extension of a fiat currency system that has been building for x450 years since Henry VIII repealed the Usury laws. If we want to end poverty, we need to re-establish the integrity of money that was destroyed when gold was removed from circulation by Winston Churchill in 1925 and FDR in 1933.

  9. We have Neptune just arriving in Aries and crypto getting a boost. Bretton Woods which was the international agreement to back currency with gold was created during July 1944 when Neptune had first moved into Libra. Nixon then abandoned it in 1971 when Neptune had first moved into Sag. Many countries also abandoned the gold standard (at least temporarily) in1914 due to WWI – Neptune first moved into Leo in 1915. We also have the deregulation of banking in 1999 when Neptune was just into Aquarius and this is said to be a factor in the GFC

  10. I’m not sure whether the astrology bears this out, but Crypto is primarily concerned with cover up: where money comes from and where it goes to. It is not surprising, therefore, that it is beloved by criminals, drug dealers, certain sorts of businessmen and particular politicians and even world leaders.

    • The Mars/Pluto midpoint (assoc with criminals) is exactly opposition Algol – and the Mars conjunct South Node – both look somewhat iffy. Not very obvious but lurking in the undergrowth

  11. Mercury was retrograde in Leo – does this suggest that this law will fail to live up to its promises?

As for crypto, I understand just enough to know that, like most currency (or, say, stock), its value is only based on what others deem it to be worth. But worse is that it’s not backed by anything remotely tangible, which is why just about any organization can create its own crypto currency, while it consumes enormous energy resources for ‘mining’.
