Yes, deporting violent criminals is laudable; but this is only phase 1, with the plan to eventually round up and intimidate as many undocumented people as possible, without regard to their behavior while here or their contributions to American society. Most are economic refugees who work hard at the difficult but necessary jobs that native-born Americans tend to shun, and who, according to analysis, actually add more to the economy than they extract.
Bigotry is an explicit tenet of MAGA. So is ignorance–or maybe it’s wilful denial–about the immigrant history of the country, including the fact that the ancestors of the vast majority of the U.S. population (excepting those descended from Native Americans or from Africans kidnapped for the slave trade) would have been barred entry here if the same standards espoused by MAGA were applied today. With a very few exceptions, we are all descended from interlopers.
Furthermore, the U.S. farm and food-service sectors are very dependent on undocumented workers. ICE has a bad past history of arresting first and asking questions later when it comes to brown people, and already we’re seeing crops rotting in the fields, and people staying home from restaurant and factory jobs, due to fear of being rounded up. (Many citizens who are Hispanic or Hispanic-looking have started carrying their U.S. passports with them everywhere, fearful of ICE agents’ penchant for profiling, and we’ve already seen U.S. citizens and even citizen veterans unlawfully arrested in this latest push.)
High food prices were a big issue in the last election. Well, if this continues, food prices will only go up, and the impact will hit the low-information, red-state MAGA voters the hardest. It’s not just morally wrong; it’s also plain foolish. It’s generally a really bad idea to mistreat the people who prepare and serve your food.
Rather than terrorize the hardworking people who form the foundation of our economy, and traumatize their innocent children, a better policy would be to institute a Reagan-style amnesty and provide a path to citizenship or legal status. But this current crop of Republicans doesn’t have the wisdom or the decency to do so.
It’s especially worrying that all of this is playing directly into the hands of hostile foreign countries. I hate to break it to you, but “Belt and Road” has already made its way to Latin America, and this may accelerate that trend. Again, it would be interesting to see what’s in store astrologically for the BRICS in the next couple of years, especially in relation to the U.S. and Canada.

In a recent briefing, the presidential press secretary stated that 97% of the deportations ICE has made so far already had a final order of removal — meaning a judge ordered the illegal alien’s removal, but the Biden administration didn’t follow it.
The deportations, at the moment, seem to be the concluding unfinished business rather than anything else.

Given all of the actual houses destroyed in Hurricanes Helene and Milton and now the fires in California I wonder if Saturn moving through the 4th is responsible.
Also a lot of people in certain parts of LA mainly Altadena inherited their homes from their parents and grandparents and because they were paid off didn’t carry homeowners insurance which means that they won’t have the means to rebuild and will have to take whatever deal that land swindlers are offering them and take that money and leave the state in a lower cost of living area.

California doesn’t have that capability; we can’t issue visas. Congress has resised creating a new guest worker program.
We’re trying to protect our immigrants from illegal roundups but, in this case federal immigration law prevails. All we can do is take them to court.
What’s needed is a backlash from Trump supporters, including traditionally conservative farmers/growers who are losing their crops in the fields and MAGAts who are paying far more, not less, for food. Trump promised them cheaper prices for food. Instead they’re going to get scarcity from home-grown products, higher prices on imported food from Mexico and Canada and far higher construction costs for housing because of tariffs on building materials and lack of deported migrant construction workers.

We have a Reservation System here where it is their land. Hence, the tribes were able to block Noem from coming onto their land. Deporting illegals and criminals is not unusual, but I cannot understand why native Americans in their reservations would be a target, that sounds like discrimination, after all they have been there longer than anybody else. Anyway where would they be deported to?

The purpose for those countries in belonging to the OECD is to keep them developing within the west parameters as opposed to totalitarian regimes but they need a lot more investment to grow their industries, infrastructure et., this is coming from China.
