USA & Russia – not natural allies

Trump rampages on like a bull on the loose threatening to break up the EU, stop bolstering Europe’s defences, cosy up to Russia and withdraw from NATO. As with many of his wild demands there is a nugget of sense in a sliver of them. Europe does need to step up on the defence front. But there are indications he is not carrying the support of senior Republican lawmakers with him. The Republican-led House and Senate Armed Services Committees weighed confirmed a defense policy bill reaffirming U.S. support for Ukraine and NATO and restricting the Pentagon’s ability to reduce U.S. troop levels in Europe.

A former US ambassador said: “A large majority of Republicans … in the Senate and the House believe Russians are adversaries of the United States, that Moscow’s war on Ukraine is a Russian aggression that must not succeed.”

The relationship charts between the USA and the two Russia charts of 1917 and 1991 also suggest the US as a country is mistrustful of Russia with anxiety and setbacks across this winter. More so than with the EU – the USA/EU chart is fairly locked together.

The USA/NATO chart is more problematic with indications of growing challenges and tensions through 2026, more so in 2027 – though that also could involve other factors such as outside aggressors. One of Trump’s supporters politician  Thomas Massie recently said: ‘NATO is a Cold War relic. We should withdraw from NATO and use that money to defend our own country, not socialist countries.’

Massie, 13 January 1971, a Sun Capricorn trine Saturn in Taurus on one side and trine Pluto on the other looks blocked in February 2026 and upbeat though over hopeful by April. His relationship chart with Trump is locked together by a composite yod and heading for confusing, disappointing times in 2026/27.

The EU is under extreme pressure now and on for a few months with Solar Arc Pluto opposition the Moon and square Uranus but that should ease off through 2026; with a muddled-about-direction tr Neptune Saturn in late Pisces square the Midheaven till February 2026 and conjunct the Descendant causing havoc in neighbourly relations ahead.  There’ll be some discouragement in a face-reality 2026 with the Solar Arc Sun square Saturn and financial disappointment with tr Pluto square the Neptune; good news and a lucky break in 2028 with SA Jupiter conjunct the Sun but more significant challenges as tr Pluto squares the Moon and opposes the Uranus in 2029/30 hinting at forced changes of future plans. Ups and downs.

Trump will continue to hammer away at the EU through 2026/27 pushing for a split but it looks more confused than terminal.

Putin’s birth date is not confirmed but on the October 1952 date his relationship with Trump would seem to be powering ahead through 2026 with tr Pluto opposition the composite Jupiter – though that could also hint at a power play, as Putin pulls DT’s strings. With mayhem and tensions breaking out in May and after July 2026.

I am not sure how well they work but having sifted through a few earlier political global partnerships, the relationship chart between Trump’s Admin chart and Putin’s 5th Term look both overly confident as a pair and mired in confusion, evasion, deceit and excessive expectations. That chart will jolt and jangle through the winter and April 2026 looks fairly explosive.

  1. Chris-I was a Poli Sci major having had to read all of the founding documents. Also read de Tocqueville which is still relevant and helpful. IMO, most Americans only care about going into Walmart and being able to buy a $79 air fryer. Millions of Americans can recite complicated, layered sports stats but don’t know anything about civics. This doesn’t “feel” like Cancer sun, Aq moon to me. I don’t “get” the US chart at all. I’m thinking we are not a Cancer sun. America is about the freedom TO BUY what you want without caring about individual freedoms and democracy. I don’t know how this can ever change. Also, the urban/rural divide is so intense. I’m part of both worlds and the culture war is unfortunately, very real. Chop wood, carry water. And be involved locally. I think that’s all we can do.

  2. Trump is divisive naturally, with his Uranus close to his Sun. He is now trying to divide EU, while on the other side he is pushing for peace. And if you look at all his peace agreements, none of them has worked, Russia/Ukraine, Cambodia/Thailand, Israel/Gaza war. He is not the kind of person who can broker peace. Probably he must let other people or countries broker peace, he does not have those qualities. He is not really a friend of Russia, he is acting the way he acts on Russia because he owes them, he is being blackmailed by Putin. Russia is the one that is publishing his Epstein files, and Trump knows it too.

  3. A note on Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky — he’s one of the few to challenge and oppose Trump on many issues, though from the right. He’s angered Trump repeatedly and teamed with Dems to release the Epstein files. Trump is trying to recruit a candidate to primary him. They are NOT allies. Massie is more of a renegade whom Trump can’t buy or bully on many fronts.

    • Right, and this is exactly why Massie is one of the only members of Congress who truly represent the American people, along with MTG and Ro Khanna, as well as the handful of progressives who have formed Reject AIPAC.
Matt Gaetz was another real one, but the fact that he couldn’t be bought by AIPAC, as he did not accept donations from any lobbyists, made him a target for false allegations of sexual misconduct ( the real perpetrator in that case was finally prosecuted, tried, convicted, and sentenced to prison).
Regardless of what lamestream media is reporting, the American people are done with the war pigs in both parties who support imperialism and continue to fund the Endless Wars because they profit from the carnage created by the Military Industrial Complex.

I don’t know if there is anyway to discern this from astrology, but the truth is that Americans have entered the post- partisan era, where we have returned to behaving in keeping with our national character by rebelling against a corrupt government / elected officials. ( Result of the Pluto return ?) Many of us are now voting for populists like Bernie, Trump, and RFK Jr., and anyone else who is willing to cut off funding for corporations, all foreign wars / countries, NATO, end US imperialism, close most of our foreign military bases / bring the troops home, and generally speaking put American first.

      • Sorry, there is no way to “discern this from astrology”! That you said has nothing to do with astrology and is not the “truth” since that is yet to be determined in these uncertain times. Truth is a topic for analysts, historians and those who experience the events in real time, which evidently is not your role. It’s ok to have your opinion, but this isn’t a political blog and conjecture is not truth. Please stop.

        • I’m aware that this is an astrology blog: To be clear my comment was 1) a reply, agreeing with / expanding on information shared in a previous comment, 2) sharing the viewpoint that the current political situation both within the US, and as it relates to US foreign policy, is a manifestation of the Pluto return, and 3) wondering if there are other transits / aspects in play, the effects of which are beyond the depth of my knowledge of astrology.

As for the rest, my undergraduate major was history ( emphasis: comparative history / international relations and geopolitical studies), and as an American I am experiencing these events in real time. You don’t have to agree with my perspective, but as a practical matter, the subject of this post is about political alliances, along with the relevant astrological aspects.

          • Astrology backs you. Pluto in Aquarius.. aquarius which is ruled by uranus whose main purpose is to upturn things…Pluto in Capricorn whose ruler was saturn was stubborn and wealth obsessed and with Pluto, irrespective of means. Moreso since both r not opposite energy planets, the consequences of powerless comes now as Uranus which is also enemy of Saturn and prone to turn all upside down now ,turning all 20yrs behaviour overturned. Also,Neptune is out of delusional pisces into saturn with aries so new energy and controlled ,kept practical by saturn boundaries..uranus in gemini so another clever sudden behaviour beginning where goal matters more but beneficial

          • @ Raina,

I actually live in North Florida and Matt Gaetz is one of the most corrupt politicians in this state. There is nothing false or exaggerated about the allegations made against him.

  4. All this shows is that there are no adults at White House right now. Today, I read that White House is playing with an ideaof a “superallience” consisting of the US, Russia, China, India, and Japan. A friend of mine commented that what could go wrong here, with China having ongoing border disputes with Russia, Japan, and India.

These people at White House are so out of their depth it would be comical if there weren’t smaller countries suffering real consequences.

    • @ Solaia,

I agree with you. The U.S. is being run by complete idiots with a dangerous agenda. Most Americans a very ignorant when it comes to understanding geoeconomics, geopolitics, or international relations. They don’t realize (nor do they care) about the consequences of Trump’s precarious foreign policy ambitions.

I’m a history major and a cultural anthropology minor at University of Central Florida. It’s embarrassing to me when I meet other Americans who have no clue what’s going on right now.

And you’re right, many smaller countries are at risk because there are no adults in the White House right now.
