USA bombs Iran – hoping for a quick fix

The USA joined Israel’s fight against Iran by sending in bombers to attack Iran’s nuclear sites. Happening around 3am Iran time, there were two yods of Sun Jupiter sextile Mars inconjunct Pluto – and Pluto sextile Saturn Neptune inconjunct Mars. A Plutonic yod can be coercive; a Martian yod rash and disruptive – and yods do suggest a game-changing phase.

Even MAGA supporters are split on Trump’s decision which could expose thousands of US military personnel across the Middle East to retaliation by Iran and its proxies in the region and goes against Trump’s campaign promises to avoid military entanglements. Conservative media personality Tucker Carlson said there was no justification for attacking Iran, with “zero credible intelligence” to suggest it was “anywhere near” building a nuclear bomb. Steve Bannon said Israel had “essentially forced President Trump’s hand” by starting a war with Iran, knowing it did not have the military capability to finish the job.

The Bombing chart also has the Sun just into Cancer conjunct Jupiter square Saturn Neptune = over hopeful and uncertain.

The Trump Term Inauguration chart has the Progressed Moon approaching a square to the Mars IC within weeks which does suggest heated debates and an aggravated electorate. What is notable are two midpoints – tr Uranus square the Sun/Neptune midpoint and tr Uranus square the Neptune/Pluto midpoint both exactly now – given the Neptune Pluto in particular is associated with nuclear issues; and Ebertin adds his  hints of gloom with ‘hyper-sensitive nerves’, obsessions, maybe losses, emotional crises. There will be upheavals and upsets, changes of plan through July/August with tr Uranus moving into Gemini squaring two other key Trump Term midpoints.

The Iran 22 December 1501 chart is certainly showing maximum stress and disappointment over coming months with tr Uranus opposition the Pluto and tr Neptune Saturn square the late Sagittarius Sun into mid 2026.

The Iran 1501/Israel relationship chart has the ‘disaster/nuclear?’ tr Uranus opposition the composite Neptune into mid 2026. The USA/Iran 1501 is less obvious with a tricky-to-interpret tr Uranus conjunct the Jupiter in this July which (being optimistic) could point to a negotiated  settlement and relief. Though tr Saturn square the Pluto into 2026 is blocked and heavy going.

Presumably the wager is that Iran and its proxies in the Middle East have been so weakened that the US intervention can be limited and successful, forcing Tehran to quickly seek a settlement rather than retaliating. But there is a risk of inflaming the Middle East further.

Brian Katulis, senior fellow at the Middle East Institute, a Washington think-tank said “It all depends on how the Iranian regime reacts — and it’s not clear what the regime’s capacities and will are at this point. [But] Iran’s network across the region remains operationally lethal, and it is able to sow more instability and terror if it chooses to do so.”

One hope would be that it might collapse the Iran Islamic Republic (the bearded mullahs) whom even the Iranians dislike. Founded 1 April 1979 3pm Teheran, there are signs of stress with the SA Pluto square Venus; SA Mars square the Midheaven; and SA Midheaven square Mars – an emotionally fraught time exactly now though not necessarily the end of the road.

Both the USA and Israel in relationship to the 1979 Iran Islamic Republic chart show continued bad feeling extending from this year and on for several years.

My own feeling (perhaps biased) is not so much that Netanyahu trapped Trump into taking action but more that Trump could not bear to be left on the sidelines (not centre of attention) when a major action was going down.

  We wait, watch and see.

Latest: The Iranian parliament has approved the closure of the Strait of Hormuz – a key passage through which 20 per cent of global oil and gas demand flows. It would cause a sharp spike in prices and could temporarily restrict the ability of US warships to exit the Persian Gulf. Major oil producers, including Saudi Arabia and the UAE, rely on the waterway to access the open sea. The Chinese also rely on the Strait of Hormuz for their oil.

Marco Rubio, US Secretary of State said: “It’s economic suicide for them if they do it. It would hurt other countries’ economies a lot more than ours.”

  1. Uranus is moving into Gemini in the next two weeks, it is causing to cause even more upsets inside MAGA. They are going to be even more divided, some might even challenge Trump. Another thing appearing in the US chart is disease outbreaks, since they now have a professional lying health secretary, Things are not looking good at all for the US in the coming months, I see a showdown. On the economic side I see a disaster, if Iran continues with the closure of Strait of Hormuz, oil prices are going to shoot up, they are already picking up. Inflation in the US and worldwide will go up, US economy is already going down because of tarrifs, now with inflation going up also, that is more trouble, The Fed won’t be able to cut interest rates, consumers are going to be hit hard. As consumers we must all be prepared to pay more for everything, if things stays the same as they are.

If we all still remember what happened back in 2001, during 9/11 attacks. Saturn was transiting Gemini and conjunct USA natal Uranus. This year we are having Uranus transiting Gemini( first 6th house of health and the 7th house of enemies) and will also conjunct USA natal Uranus at some point. Uranus always produces shocks and surprises. I fear the USA might experience another terrible attack soon, similar to 9/11, but this time it’s self inflicted as Trump likes attention and entered the war unnecessarily, without consulting congress which is the normal procedure.

  2. Thank you Clarence and SweetGrapes, your astrological interpretations provide some optimism for the near future. Trump has certainly created an endless s**t show that we’re having to endure at the moment but it’s not going to last forever.

I know many of the patrons here who are much more knowledgeable in political astrology than me (I’m more knowledgeable in Harmonic and Health astrology) have shared their interpretations too – which are helpful and informative.

However, I noticed many of the interpretations and comments here often perpetrate “apocalyptic” or “doomsday” scenarios which can be exasperating.

For example, 2025 has surprisingly been a very good year for me so far despite last year’s election not going my way. So, I as I continue studying Western Astrology, I have to constantly remind myself that the stars are always right but those of us who try to interpret them are rarely 100% accurate.

In other words, I try not to assume the worst case scenarios these days when attempting to study political astrology (mind you, I have a long way to go – my knowledge of political astrology is still rudimentary).

    • Political astrology says we are headed for tragic times within five years but you are saying it doesn’t matter because things are going well for you personally. Excuse me but that is not comforting. It is just an expression of human folly.

WWII ended with two nuclear strikes. This is where humanity picks up from 2028. Live on blissfully.

      • @ André,

your interpretation of political astrology says the world is headed for tragic times.

And it’s not just me who has been having a good year; I know many others who are doing just fine too.

I’ve noticed that most of the people who are experiencing the most setbacks in their lives right now are the very people who voted for Donald Trump. It’s called Karma.

Anyway, I don’t ever recall a time in world history when when everything has been hunky dory where everyone was holding hands and singing “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony).”

There have always been wars, genocide, environmental destruction, and political and social oppression taking place somewhere in the world.

The fact that many people here in the Global North are only now clutching their pearls and crying foul because our part of the world is currently getting a taste of the very challenges that the people of Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and Oceania have endured for decades (in some cases, centuries) speaks volumes about our society.

I’m not happy about the current political chaos and extreme far-right ideologues who are in charge here in the U.S. and in some other Western countries. And I used to be one of those people who viewed every gloval tragedy as a personal crisis. My psychiatrist and psychologist helped me to accept that we only have control overselves and we don’t have the capacity to resolve all of the world’s troubles.

I think about the people living in places like Afghanistan, Kurdistan, Palestine, Sudan, West Papua, and Yemen and I’m reminded that things could always be worse for us – much worse. So, I now try to be more appreciative of the good things that are still happening in the world.

Think of it this way: at least you don’t live here in the U.S. So, you’re more insulated from Donald Trump and his associates than we are.

        • @Chris, I know your intentions may have been good, but I want to point out that far more people are currently feeling the negative effects of global challenges than just Trump supporters or voters. We are living through a time of intense societal pressures, climate change, and growing geopolitical tensions that affect people across the spectrum. For example, my teenage child’s school is organizing information sessions for parents to help them understand and support young people dealing with very real existential fears. I’m also part of several astrological circles, where people not only interpret current celestial movements but also share and process their lived experiences. While some choose to focus on the potential growth opportunities in today’s difficult astrological constellations, and that perspective is valuable, none of them are claiming that life is smooth or that 2025 is an easy or wonderful year. Speaking personally, this year feels heavy. Many of my friends and relatives are struggling in various ways. I’m truly glad if things are going well for you, but I kindly ask that you don’t downplay the real hardship others are facing, or suggest that only or mostly Trump supporters are experiencing challenges as some kind of karmic retribution. That’s not only dismissive but also hurtful. Tomorrow brings an exact Chiron/Eris–Mercury square, a transit known for the potential to wound with words. This layered with the Saturn/Neptune and Sun/Jupiter squares, and the lingering tension of the Uranus–Mars square still shaking things up. These are not easy times. If you’re doing well, count your blessings, and please, extend compassion to those who aren’t.

  3. Switching around channels for info this morning I heard somebody (can’t recall if it was a news person or expert of some sort) actually remark that the Moon was waning in its cycle. Suggesting that less moonlight may have been one factor in the timing of this secret mission. Makes sense.

Did planning begin in earnest around the June 11 Full Moon at 21 Sagittarius (so significant in DT’s chart, lighting up his N Moon-Sun opposition and Nodes)?

  4. In Vedic electional astrology, Moon in the 11th house is one of the most desirable positions – but the Moon has to be alone. Another planet will impede and meddle with the development of the event. Here it is Venus. So maybe money.

Jupiter in the 1st (Vedic uses whole signs) removes a lot of the blemishes, but here it is combust. So weakened, I think.

    • El Aznar, good point you make about the money. Let’s not forget that the US Congress has not weighed in on the strike itself since Trump avoided his consitutional obligations and ignored the law. However, the money must flow via Congress and Trump can’t print it all by himself. The public and legal confrontation as to the budget and the big beautiful bill has yet to come, though it will probably be delayed to the fall now. Republicans will need a little time to paper over the MAGA split somehow. And then the battle for hearts and minds will play out, along with the budget dollars. End of September – just a guess (haven’t looked at the stars yet).

In the interim Uranus slips into Gemini and goes Rx in early September, Saturn and Neptune go Rx in July. So the world can take a powder as far as Trump is concerned because he got what he wanted (for that he’s fine with more than 2 weeks).

Pluto goes direct in mid-October while the other heavies are still Rx. There might be some news then as to what’s over the horizon. Lots of sorting out to do politically before spring 2026 when for a couple of months all planets are direct (Pluto going Rx again in early May 2026).

      • I then later thought Venus is also diplomacy, so could be that hinders the war too.

Thanks for the retrograde calendar roundup! Gives us a precise timeline.

  5. I’ve read an article yesterday or the day before about whether Israel has money to continue these wars. I think the bottom line was ‘yes’ – but if the wars end quickly. Then the economy would have the strength to recover.

I was also wondering with the latest ingresses, Neptune, upcoming Uranus, if Iran is sensitive to them.

  6. To me, closing the Strait of Hormuz is the only effective option that is left to Iran and the only dangerous one for the wider world. It could conceivably bring China in support, at least diplomatically, because it is the main buyer of Iranian oil. Also, the resulting spike in oil prices will benefit Putin, another Iranian ally.

All this is happening right on cue with the entrance of Uranus in Gemini, which has always brought existential wars to the US every 84 years, every Uranian cycle, since the American Revolution. So this is unlikely to go away soon. What is new this time, apart from the fact that US Mars is retrograde for the first time for most of the century which is why the US has not won a war since 1945, is that Israel is also entering its first Uranus return. The Israel Uranus 1948 placement is 24 Gemini, conjunct US Mars and Trump’s Sun-Uranus conjunction. In 2032, there will be a Saturn-Uranus conjunction at roughly 24 Gemini while Pluto opposes Israel’s natal Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Leo. What could possibly go wrong? That’s in 7 years. Trump would be 86 and I do not doubt for a moment that he could still be in power.

In the near term, the Mars-Uranus opposition in early November and the Mars-Pluto conjunction in February 2026 will be dates to watch.

In the intermediate term, China is likely to be emboldened to attack Taiwan in 2027 for the hundredth anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party (which has been hacking me on a Canadian political forum). By 2028, the war in Ukraine (if it continues after the Saturn-Neptune conjunction which could see off Putin), and those in the Middle East and the Pacific could be interlocking and feed off each other as one. Someone in the Pentagon (the no. 3 in charge of policy) noted that every US miltary resource taken out of the Pacific to confront Iran weakens the U in its confrontation with China. I believe that will turn out to be Israel’s greatest problem because ultimately the US may find that war with China is more important and it may not go very well, at least initially. It will desperately need India’s help to win it.

    • Andre, Trump won’t make it to 86. He’s on his way down now. I give him two years, tops. Even his aides and sycophants can’t prop him up and cover for him forever.

Let’s stop ascribing to him some kind of superhuman ability he doesn’t have and never will have. That’s a large part of how we got into this mess, by collectively buying into the myth of the man portraying him as some kind of larger-than-life character. But he’s in truth, a very small, weak, incompetent and pitiful man.

More to the point, what a truly sorry state of affairs for the U.S. that he is at the helm at this time. I don’t see how the country gets out of this one unscathed. They have been fortunate to have great leaders during times of crisis in the past under hard transits of Uranus and Neptune. Not this time at all, it seems.

      • Clarence & Andre: I’m inclined to think Trump won’t make it past the midterms. His health for one thing. His instability and wavering decisiveness for another. Yes, he made this decision, but what will he do next? What lie will he tell next, which makes it impossible for anybody to believe what he says, especially after he misled the world with his “two weeks to a decision” comments. Of course, he didn’t say he would definitely wait 2 weeks; he said ‘within’ 2 weeks or words to that effect. The strike came sooner than anybody expected, but surely nobody was fooled.

Astrologically speaking, it was a done-deal decision for Trump from the outset to bomb Iran (imo). What other decision could possibly satisfy his Mars/ Regulus ego on the Ascendant but to make a spectacular strike on Iran?

Now comes the denouement – Uranus goes into Gemini on July 8th, then retrogrades back into Taurus from November 9 to February 3, 2026, exactly squaring Trump’s Mars at 26 Taurus again. Taurus being the sign of real estate and money. Then Uranus goes direct to April 27, 2026 at which time it passes into Gemini, the twins, for good. Gemini being ruled by 2 stars, Castor and Pollux, that say you get the good with the bad.

The first exact square from Uranus in Taurus to Trump’s Mars at 26 Leo 47′ was May 9th. At the time Saturn was opposing his Ascendant at 29 Leo from Pisces (his 7th house of open enemies). The May 9 Uranus square, the first of a series of such squares, is conjunct fixed star, Algol, the star of losing one’s head. Then Neptune, the planet of illusions and lies, gets to 1 Aries for good on January 27, 2026 (having hit it the first time on March 31, 2025). Saturn joins Neptune at 1 Aries on March 1, 2026, a year from now, just having passed an exact trine to Trump’s 29 degree Ascendant. Trump’s illusions and delusions will be gung ho on more action with that applying trine. Reality of course, will follow as it always does.

This is a picture of teetering disaster over the next year or two. Also, transiting Pluto hovers over Trump’s 6th house cusp of health, 1 Aquarius, throughout this period, with Saturn joining that sensitive personal point in March 2026. So, we’ll see, but as the old Bette Davis movie puts it, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

        • To be more precise in my comments, please don’t think for a minute that Trump will expire! His chart is amazingly strong, but like Clarence says, he’s not superhuman. There are plenty of obstacles in his path and it’s still early days. He looks likely to remain President for his full term, but his effectiveness will be tested and curbed by hard aspects to angles and critical planets. It doesn’t look rosy, and then come the midterms.

      • Spaniards waited for Franco’s démise for 40 years. Also, the horoscope lives on after one’s death for things we have set in motion.

In 2032, Pluto will also square Israel’s Sun, and Neptune will be conjunct its Descendant. You cannot deny this is truly tragic astrology and it will coincide with the US Uranus return which has been apocalyptic in the past. It ended the last time with Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Maybe sime Americans should stop wishing this will all go away and face reality.

        • Andre, Franco was a much younger man and in far better shape when he became dictator of Spain. Trump is blessedly far closer to his end and was in poor health to begin with, facing down a family history of Alzheimer’s and a life’s legacy of poor dietary habits and no exercise, concerned with junk science like conserving his heart beats.

Granted, his vile deeds and influence will continue to reverberate across time and generations well beyond his final breaths, certainly beyond all of our lives and throughout time. And we will have to deal with them, but we won’t also be dealing with him at once.

What I find more concerning than Trump is the near-total collapse of the Democrats as the opposition party that ought to be hard countering the MAGA madness. Since Kamala Harris conceded, they have behaved like the crew of the Titanic, pointing fingers and rearranging chairs on the deck while the ship took on water. Their leaders either seem to craven and corrupt (e.g. Chuck Schumer) or inept and clueless (e.g. Hakeem Jeffries & Ken Martin). Maybe it’s Newsome or Pritzker that will rise to the occasion. But what are they waiting for?

Past Uranus Returns have always been a “rallying time” for the US, but those happened under Lincoln and FDR (and from the onset under Washington as General, if we count the natal founding period and the Revolutionary War), undisputably men of the hour of solid caliber, already in office, who rose to the occasion.

Well, during this period it seems like the leader(s) will have to come from some other, less obvious place, or perhaps maybe the U.S. has simply enjoyed good fortune up until now, and that luck has now run out. We will soon see.

  7. I heard on the news that the Iranians weren’t using electronic communications so they couldn’t be bugged and thus used against them. This also slows communications between the various top Iranian government officials that would be making decisions about what to do next.
