France’s European commissioner, Thierry Breton, has resigned, citing “questionable governance” at the EU executive led by Ursula von der Leyen. His hissy fit comes after she had asked Paris to withdraw his name for reasons unknown. None of which amounts to a hill of beans but the astrology is fun.
He was born 15 January 1955 8.45am Paris and has a Capricorn Sun exactly on his Ascendant opposition Uranus Jupiter in Cancer on his Descendant so he will be an upfront personality, confident and uncompromising, not good at cooperation Added to that he has Pluto on the cusp of his 8th sextile Neptune and inconjunct a focal point rip roaring Mars in Aries. Not a man to keep his comments to himself when riled. His Pluto is also in an unbudgeable square to Saturn.
Ursula von der Leyen’s Uranus Moon falls in his 7th and her Pluto in his 8th so she triggers all his hot buttons (and not in a good way); with her Mars falling in his 4th for additional underlying irritations.
Their relationship chart has a business-like but cool composite Sun Saturn Mercury conjunction. And a composite Mars opposition Neptune Venus square Uranus leading to ego-clashes, insensitive treatment and a determination to walk separate paths. Tr Pluto square the composite Neptune through last month would not help, returning in December and in an enraging square to Mars in January – and on. It would not a happy 2025 ahead if they were stuck in the same space.
It’s always interesting when a person in the news has a chart close to one’s own. This man was born four days after me. His Mars is in Aries, mine is in the last degrees of Pisces in a Water grand trine turned into a kite. He has a Cap ASC, mine is Sag. We have a similar yod.
I rather like Ursula von der Leyen. She is an effective leader and a strong supporter of Ukraine. Macron has not turned this into a conflict with France, which is what matters.
On another note, I read yesterday that economists are saying that the effects of Brexit are worsening, while Barnier, the EU negotiator of Brexit, has become the prime minister of France. He is a Gaullist, therefore does not like the UK, and if he has some success he may be a contender for the presidency in 2027.
Not always, I was born the same day as Liz Truss and I have witnessed her failure with increasing anxiety. Imagine constantly thinking, am I that dumb too?
As I understood it Von der Leyen wanted to present a balanced team of new Commisioners with an equal number of men and women so all countries were asked to put forward two candidates, one male and one female. However most countries ignored her request and presented the one candidate they wanted to have, usually male. So she turned to Macron and promised him a weighty portfolio in exchange for putting forward a female candidate instead of Breton who has been in the post for 5 years and indeed is not known for his tact. At his age you might think he would be considering retirement. But clearly he thinks his career has been sacrificed on the altar of wokeism. As you say Marjorie, a storm in a teacup.
What other than rules and regulations does Ursula VL do for the eu . She is incapable of thinking outside the box
