Ukraine – a superpower carve up?

Zelensky backed by European leaders is due to meet Donald Trump at 1pm EST after his Alaskan two-step with Putin which was consummately finessed by the Russian leader.

The Sun at 26 Leo exactly conjunct Trump’s blowhard Mars suggests he’ll be on his typical blustering and grandstanding form. The Sun is also in a wide-ish yod inconjunct Pluto sextile Saturn Neptune which suggests indecision and discouragement.

Trump and Zelensky do not get on with Zelensky’s Saturn in Leo conjunct DT’s Mars and Ascendant; and Zel’s Sun Venus in Aquarius opposition DT’s 12th house Pluto. Zel’s Uranus is also square DT’s Pluto and widely his Mars.  Not a recipe for cooperation. This translates on their relationship chart to a toxic-dislike composite Saturn Mars North Node square Neptune.

There is nothing much in the astrology to suggest a sudden or happy end to the illegal Russian invasion –  see previous Ukraine posts. Starmer who is supposed to be a Trump-whisperer looks frustrated in the extreme with DT as he leaves the White House meet. And Zelensky’s Saturn at 28 degrees Leo will be sagging in the days to come and agitated over the winter.

But pondering gloomily about the impasse and the bad guys winning, a thought crossed my mind which may be clutching at straws —– but there has been a curious tie-in between DT and Putin since 2016 and before. Sometimes with these political duos, even ones which are at odds, when one goes so does the other.

Putin’s 5th Term, 7 May 2024, is limping through 2026 and in a panic about failure by 2027. His original Presidency chart, 31 December 1999,  which did lurch badly two years back, has a potentially destabilising  Solar Arc Uranus square the Pluto from late this year through 2026; with massive confusion in 2026 and dead halt by 2027.

Trump’s Inauguration chart hints at increased unpopularity as the Solar Arc Saturn is conjunct the Venus from mid this October into mid and later 2026. The Progressed Moon moves to square the Sun by February 2026 and square the Pluto a month later. With an uncertain tr Saturn conjunct the Neptune and North Node through this winter.

His own chart is swimming even deeper into Neptunian swamps with his SA Neptune conjunct his Moon now and opposition his Sun in 2026; with tr Pluto into his 6th house of health; and his tr Neptune into his 8th house of joint (business) finances and cooperation.

Not to suggest that Trump will exit stage left anytime soon but his screw up of Ukraine, Gaza and the economy will be what pulls the rug out from under his feet. And if Putin by some miracle did depart Trump would be sitting in an exceedingly draughty spot all by himself contemplating his failings.

  1. Just to add –
Abdication of the Czar, March 15, 1917: Pluto 2 Cancer, Neptune 2 Leo
August 19th 1991 Russian Coup (Yeltsin): Saturn 1 Aquarius, MC 2 Leo
Putin Presidency, 1999: Neptune 3 Aquarius, Nodes 4 Leo/Aquarius – tr Pluto arrives January-February 2026, Saturn conjunct Neptune 20th February, 0 Aries, a World Point.
US Inauguration 2025: Pluto 1 Aquarius (S Node 29 Virgo receives September Solar Eclipse)

    • And more to anticipate with the approaching Eclipse (7th and 21st September) season –

“The main event in 2025 is the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80), which opens on September 9, 2025. The high-level General Debate will take place from September 23-27, with a concluding session on September 29. Additionally, the UN will be celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2025.”

Plus the Trump visit to the UK, 17th – 19th September, falling between the eclipses. The UN has Moon 22 Gemini, Uranus 17 Gemini, connecting it with DJT’s natal Sun and Uranus, and all the rest I mentioned in an earlier post.

  2. Russia has more people, has a populace who bears wars of attrition, has one of Ukraine’s best friends, Europe, buying it’s fossil fuels at a greater amount than Europe supports Ukraine. Ukraine has made the most of what they had but they needed to win early. Ukraine lost long before Trump won. Europe could pressure Putin to end the war by ending the purchase of all of its fossil fuels. Giving Ukraine the weapons to shut in its arctic fuel would be the ultimate sanction and take at least a decade to restore. Ukrainian blood isn’t moving Russia an inch off its territory but it did allow Europe time to prepare. Last year though, Europe only reduced it’s Russian fuel purchases by 1%.

It’s bad. Watching Ukraine lose is painful, dying for nothing is much, much worse. What comes next will be harder to bear. We had the Saros 149 eclipse this year. That series began over Russia and is associated with the Russian annexation of the left bank of modern Ukraine, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth who had some military success but had to accept a truce due to economic damages. The period of time was called The Deluge. And is associated with Russian territorial expansion.

Trump warned Europe years ago to stop buying Russian gas and become energy independent of Russia. Stop their gas, stop their expansion. Buy their gas, spend blood. They are linked.

  3. Marjorie, your comment about Mr. T’s Neptunian swamps just hit me upon re-reading your post, for which thank you.

It feels right on the mark, as to Neptune, as truly (for the first time?) Trump can’t seem to make up his mind what to do. He looks to be floundering, and he doesn’t have handy targets to deflect the issuess he’s facing either. Also, thinking of Clarence’s and Jane’s comments re. the Czar in Russia, that fits because Romanoff Nicholas could not make a decision to save himself and his family despite the obvious danger.

Neptune in modern astrology rules Pisces together with Jupiter, which is retrograde. Pisces is the most watery of the water signs, symbolized by confused fish heading in opposite directions. Pluto is often taken as the focus ot trouble because he is so hard and inevitable, but perhaps, here, Neptune is the more apt planetary influence with regard to Ukraine. It does look like everyone is playing a game of deception and Neptune drowns you in overwhelming circumstances. It’s not a situation for swimming, but being under water, disoriented. The progressed Moon is in a water sign. Saturn and Venus are in water with Neptune being strongest planet of all in the sign it rules. And the planets in Aquarius, while an air sign, are the bearers of water. It all points (astrologically) to thinking the Ukraine situation is going to take awhile longer before any clear direction comes about. We’ll see…..in a while.

    • Not meaning to steal anyone’s thunder, but Neptune Cafe has also put up an in-depth commentary on Trump and his dilemma that is worth a read. https:…….//www.neptunecafe.com/newsscope. It seems everyone is puzzling over what comes next for Mr. T and the troubles he brings (and can’t solve).

  4. “but there has been a curious tie-in between DT and Putin since 2016 and before. Sometimes with these political duos, even ones which are at odds, when one goes so does the other.”

Thanks Marjorie – such a nerve-wracking time, such nerve-wracking individuals! I was curious about Trump and Russia, since his links there go back to (at least) 4th July 1987 when he and Ivana flew to Moscow for the first time. What a symbolic date for a flight from the USA to Russia. And several years before the collapse of the USSR too.

Looking at the Romanoff Dynasty, 3 March 1613 (Campion) it’s interesting to see Uranus 22 Gemini conjunct Mars 19 Gemini square Jupiter 22 Virgo and Neptune 23 Virgo. And there’s DJT with his 22 Gemini Sun, 17 Gemini Uranus, 21 Sagittarius Moon, and 20 Gemini/Sagittarius Nodes. On the day he flew out to Russia, he was having a Saturn in Sagittarius transit to Uranus, and Uranus in Sagittarius opposed his Gemini planets that year. Tr Chiron at 23 Gemini adds a note of what? A catalyst? A warning? The Romanoff Dynasty chart has this September’s Lunar Eclipse conjunct its Pisces Sun and Neptune.

The oldest chart for Russia, 862, also has Jupiter 20 Gemini on Trump’s North Node. It is trine Neptune, 21 Aquarius. Pluto in military Aries opposes Trump’s leader/king/general Jupiter in Libra. Dreams of power? Legal matters? The ancient Russian Sun and Saturn at 1 Libra will be energised by September’s awkward Virgo Solar Eclipse, plus Saturn and Neptune transits. The Inauguration chart’s Nodes and Neptune are also triggered.

So I’d guess that something is stirring, since Trump appears to have some ‘fateful’ links with Russia that attracted him to the country at a deep level. Yes, there was money to be made, potentially, but that applies to numerous locations he might have chosen. Can’t help wondering what lies beneath, if anything.

  5. If you look at Trump’s chart and his health, as well as info regarding Trump and his connection with Epstein (which will come out despite all his and the Republicans efforts to block them), I would be greatly surprised if he is still President by 2027. I also don’t think Vance will be effective if the Dems win Congress (probably by a small margin) and I admit wishful thinking here – the Senate as well in the 2026 midterms.

  6. It doesn’t matter what happens to Trump or Putin in the long run (in the long run we’re all dead). What matters is the damage they are doing in the short run. Zelensky can’t wait a whole lot longer or his day is done too.

The inauguration natal Sun is at 0 degrees Aquarius, and 0 is a critical degree in a fixed sign. Rather like a baby, needing a lot of support, not enough kick yet on its own. The progressed Sun has moved ahead by a degree, but needs at least 2, preferably 3 degrees, to get into the groove of a new sign, Aquarius. The ruler of Aquarius is Uranus in the 1st. So, who is the boss here?

Following up behind is the progressed MC, which should be showing movement as MCs don’t go Rx. The progressed MC is at 27 Capricorn – not all out of gas yet, but no major moves left either. It’s got at least 4 degrees to go until it shows some new initiative. In the meantime Capricorn is cautious and bossy.

Progressed Pluto in Aquarius is conjunct inauguration Pluto at 1 degree. No motion there. Immovable. I’d say this is Putin.

Delusionary Neptune in Pisces, the sign that can’t make up its mind, is moving even slower than Pluto in the 11th of groups (NATO, Congress or whomever). Uranus the supposed radical is dragging backward through Taurus Rx (the love of luxury and money, and never letting go) in the first house of big egos (pick any of them, they all have one, but this must be Mr. T).

The progressed Moon in Scorpio (debt, taxes and the partner’s or enemy’s money) is not feeling well at 0 degrees in the 6th. The 6th is the house of illness, servants and soldiers and this is only the beginning. Thus, poor old Moon has a bad case of bowel obstruction, being square the MC and exactly square the natal Sun, but the pressure is on because it has a whole 30 degrees ahead to slog its way through.

Progressed Mars and Jupiter are retrograde. Neither is going to break through with brilliant new ideas or do something useful when Rx. And progressed Saturn is conjunct Venus in Pisces, an intercepted sign, spoiling her fun, and not getting much expression. Venus has made it past Saturn, but it is headed for a collision with Neptune. Even the Nodes are temporarily direct, indicating that they will change their joint mind about something soon.

The progressed Moon’s next aspect will be an exact square to Pluto, which looks like a dead halt (maybe one of them will, literally, but that is beyond astrology to determine – there are greater forces in the universe, I’m sure). Only Mercury is direct and moving in the 9th house in Capricorn, having passed an exact sextile to Venus. More legal matters.

Imho, nobody is going to do nuthin but go home and sulk.

  7. At this point, to me any speculation about Trump’s demise is wishful thinking since he has magically survived overwhelming odds more than once. No other American president has overcome such legal and personal obstacles. He is clearly on this planet in this life for a purpose, which is the deconstruction of an old, outdated era synbolized by Biden’s worship of FDR.

Putin, on the other hand, is obviously nearing the end of his political, and probably physical, life. I doubt that he will meet a natural end. It will be interesting to see how Trump will cope with the loss of his evil twin.

Trump is unlikely to end the war in Ukraine. Perhaps Putin’s successor will.

    • Andre, as I said below, Trump is closer to his end than it may seem. He’s 79 and in poor health by all accounts, saving his own. Just go and watch footage of his speeches from 2016 and look at him today. He is not the same person. Mental and physical decline have set in and Alzheimer’s claimed both of his parents. It’s only further downhill for him from here.

Sure, he could last another 10 years, but we are also nearing the doorstep of an inflection point in the U.S. 1776 founding chart that make his ultimate fate irrelevant, even if he does live through his eighties. If MAGA/Project 2025 has become the “status quo” then the Uranus Return in 2027-28 will bring about a fundamental break from it. The how and where to is still yet unknown, but departure from this insufferable period is a certainty.

I get it though. We all have watched this man get away with far more horrific and despicable things without consequence than any one person should ever be allowed in a given lifetime. He does seem to represent some deep karmic issues for the U.S., but even karma has an end, and so does he.

      • Clarence,

        You are spot on regarding
        Trump’s physical and
        mental decline.

I once worked in a care
home, and I can see the
        same characteristics
        of that awful disease
        now manifest in
        Trump.

        The role of POTUS
        extracts a terrible
        mental toll, and
        Trump will be no exception
        in its’ destructive path.

      • I looked at Rubio’s chart yesterday. Although his time of birth is unknown, his Sun is at 6 Gemini opposite a Jupiter-Neptune conjunction sextile Uranus and Pluto. I would say he is a man of the times, notably the coming US Uranus return, and a more likely and stronger successor to Trump than Vance. His Moon, if in early Leo, is currently in the spotlight. His Air Grand trine makes him easily persuasive and rather close-minded. Definitely someone to watch who could surprise many people.

      • @Clarence and others, thanks for giving me a little hope that Trump’s vile “reign” will come to an end before too long.

I grew up on the edge of the south and witnessed a taste of the worst the US has inflicted on it people. I say “a taste” because I was protected by being White and coming from a middle class family that instilled in me a strong sense of justice. I certainly hope I’ll live long enough to see the perpetrators of Trump’s crimes and Project 2025 brought to justice and the US government and institutions reformed to benefit the people, not just the billionaires and oligarchs.

  8. Putin is also being stalked by Russia’s history of disruptive Saturn-Neptune conjunctions, which going back to the Bolshevik Revolution and toppling of the Czar has consistently brought about major regime changes in Russia. The last one coincided with the attempted coup against Gorbachev and the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

Seems like his regime and version of Russia is due for a reckoning.

As for Trump, the U.S. has its own cycle of upheaval to contend with in the near future, notably the Uranus Return cycle, the third one of which happens in 2027-28, just after the U.S. congressional midterm elections in 2026 and in the run-up period to the 2028 presidential elections.

Not sure if Trump will even be around for it, but he’s clearly on his downward arc, which would be made even more apparent by the Neptune opposition natal Neptune, Pluto opposition natal Pluto, and his own Uranus Return transits hitting in the years immediately following the end of his second term.

Hopefully within a few years, we can all be speaking of these two troublemakers in the past tense.
