A by-election calamity for all three main parties as the Welsh dragon let fly may not be an accurate barometer for a UK-wide general election. But it will have shaken nerves considerably with Labour losing this particular seat for the first time in 100 years and only collecting 11% of the vote to come third; with the Tories on 2%. Even Reform which was the bookies’ favourite, under-achieved to come in second with 36%.
The Labour Party, 12 February 1906 chart registered the defeat clearly with a seriously stuck Solar Arc Sun conjunct Pluto this year. There will be some relief early in 2026 with tr Uranus conjunct the Jupiter but from mid 2026 onwards a tension-erupting phase with tr Uranus square the Saturn could see a split between the old guard and progressives running into 2027. Then a run of panicky failure aspects picks up in 2027 running to 2028 as tr Neptune undermines the Cardinal T square of Uranus opposition Neptune square Mars.
Keir Starmer’s relationship chart with the Labour Party will be into an even more turbulent phase with tr Pluto square the composite Uranus from early February 2026 and then rocking further on its axis from May 2026 if not parting company altogether with tr Uranus opposition the composite Sun.
The Tory Party, 9 May 1912, has a jolting, high tension Solar Arc Uranus conjunct the Taurus Sun this year, followed by upheavals and angst through 2026 with tr Pluto square Venus and conjunct Uranus. It faces a dead halt by 2028 as the Solar Arc Pluto squares Mars. Kemi Badenoch’s relationship with the party (minus birth times) will be under stress over this winter with tr Neptune Saturn square the composite Uranus.
The Reform Party, 23 November 2018, is on an unstable high for two years ahead with tr Uranus opposition the Sun Jupiter and then square the Mars – probably letting over confidence trip them up. With a panicky-failure Solar Arc Mars conjunct Neptune in 2027.
Nigel Farage, 3 April 1964 4.30pm Farnham, England, has a high-tension tr Uranus square his Saturn in 2026 plus a sinking-failure tr Neptune conjunct his Mars from June 2026 into 2027. Farage’s relationship chart with the UK has a composite yod of Uranus sextile Neptune inconjunct Mars and Chariklo which has the feel of an angry hornet in a jar.
A dog’s dinner as the old fault lines dissolve into a political mess.
ADD ON: Lucy Powell has been elected Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, 10 October 1974, who like Jess Phillips is heavily Libran, with her Sun conjunct Mars, Venus conjunct Pluto and Uranus all in Maggie Thatcher/Edwina Currie’s Sun sign. Her Mars may not be in Leo like Philips but it does square Saturn – so she will have a short-fuse.
She was the only Cabinet Minister ousted in Starmer’s September reshuffle. After this victory she said she felt that the government was not being “bold enough” in delivering the change it had promised. She though the government was too fixated in immigration as a problem. In May 2025, she described discussion of rape gangs as a “dog whistle”, which was condemned by survivors of the abuse.
Her relationship with Starmer will hit several bumps across the winter with tr Neptune and Saturn opposition their differing-agendas composite Sun Uranus conjunction now till February 2026; with explosive arguments January to mid March 2026. Not a recipe for cooperation.
Her own chart and midpoints are equally beleaguered over the winter with tr Saturn Neptune denting her self-confidence and raising her anxiety levels – and worse through 2026, across the May elections with calamities following in June/July 2026 and onwards.

I should also add Hugh’s 25th October comment:
“Saturn will be crossing the Pluto/Mars midpoint in the 1801 chart at 7 Aries in April and December 2026. Neptune will cross that degree in 2028 and 2029. The 7 Aries degree is also close to the UK 1801 Descendant.”
Oops! This was meant to go beneath my reply to UMM.
An online tweet suggested that we will see nationalist governments in all the devolved parliaments by mid-next year and possibly an English nationalist government in Westminster by the end of the decade..
And in my innocence, I thought nationalism was destroyed after Pluto-in-Capricorn. Plus ca change…
I can hear echoes of both the 1920s-30s, when the liberal Roaring 20s crashed into the horrors of the 30s, and the 1970s (which started with a Conservative government having issues with the trade unions, followed by Labour governments grappling with a difficult financial situation and Scottish nationalism first raised its head and there was a referendum on Scottish devolution).
There is a saying about history not repeating itself, but rhyming and I don’t like the upcoming notes.
Oh, how I miss the 1990s, which were mostly peaceful (I know that it was not universally so, Bosnian war, Rwandan genocide, etc, but it was broadly so globally and it was boom time economically, Cool Britannia and all that).
UMM – interesting you see echoes of the 1930’s. By some ‘coincidence’ today is the anniversary of the General Election that brought in a series of National Governments in the UK, which endured until the outbreak of the 2nd WW. These governments were, according to Wiki:
“The original idea was that the National Government would be free to draw upon the talents of members of all parties, so that it would represent the nation as a whole rather than being a coalition of parties like those which had existed between 1915 and 1922. However, as the main body of the Labour Party refused to co-operate, the government comprised members from MacDonald’s small group of National Labour supporters, the Conservative Party and the Liberal Party.”
That October election had the tense atmosphere of the tr Saturn, 17 Capricorn, opposing Pluto 22 Cancer, square Uranus 17 Aries. I notice that Reform have BML conjunct Pluto at 20 and 19 Capricorn, Chariklo 16 Capricorn, and a Venus 26 Libra opposing Uranus 29 Aries with the Nodes 28 Cancer/Capricorn – bringing those dynamic Cardinal energies and challenges that may, perhaps, resonate with the National Government election in 1931. Since the UK Moon, the public, is 19 Cancer, we are linked with these patterns one way or another. Some kind of coalition, or European style multi-party arrangement could be brewing. I feel, personally, that it is.
The Moon’s Nodes for October 1931 were 5 Aries/Libra. They connect with the Labour Party Mars, 5 Aries, Uranus 7 Capricorn, Neptune 7 Cancer. Tr Saturn will energise all that next Spring, along with tr Jupiter in Cancer aspecting October 1931’s Cardinal tensions, and heading for the UK Cancer Moon – all of us, potentially feeling a surge of emotion, and self-protective impulses. As Marjorie writes:
“A dog’s dinner as the old fault lines dissolve into a political mess.”
“Pluto crossed that degree in 1290-91, 1535-36 and 1781-82”
This triggered something in new to look up the history of Ireland, because the years all seem related to the history there.
A few years after the years mentioned above (so when Pluto has advanced a degree or two), the Irish Parliament was created (1297), changed from getting a local Council effectively to a national parliament (the Lordship of Ireland became the Kingdom of Ireland in 1542) and was abolished (1801).
Would Pluto at that degree predict Irish unification (necessitating a change of its Parliament)?
Would love to hear the thoughts of Hugh, Jane and Marjorie and of course all other contributors on this point.
Sorry, this was meant to be a response to Hugh Fowler’s post below on 25th October at 01:42AM
Anything on the uk going towards bankruptcy ?
Not sure that a country using its own currency can go bankrupt.
It can simply issue enough currency to pay off its debts. Doing that will of course reduce the value of all debts issued in that currency (in this case, the pound sterling). Keep in mind that debts are also assets for the holders of those debts and therefore that can cause turbulence in the markets.
But the country won’t go “bankrupt”.
It is also worth noting that Marjorie has predicted for some years now that 2026-27 will have global financial events affecting all major economics and central banks. It’s not just a UK event, but a global event.
I think we will come near to it in next few years . Pluto represents other people ‘s money and politics. It is still transiting the UK’s 4th house. The Cancer’s Sun/Pluto midpoint in the 4th house will be transited by Pluto in early 2027. We may see a build up to this throughout 2026? This midpoint opposes a Moon/Saturn midpoint in Leo in the 10th house, the house of Leadership, people’s land and property – homeland- threatened by Rulers? As Both major astrological lights are involved – the people (Moon) and their rulers (Sun) it will make an impact somewhere. Given it is Pluto which is transitioning a Sun/Pluto midpoint, it will make Pluto powerful – especially as Scorpio rules the 2nd house, our own money with Mars in the 8th house, political money in the 1801 Chart. Anger about political rulership over money? I see this as Politics and Money, becoming the problem, rather than the Royal Family.
Regarding the Labour Chart, it has Pluto transiting its Part of Fortune next year. Any thoughts on how this would work out? Or is the actual time of the Labour Party being formed unknown?
Thanks Marjorie I’m from the old lefty school and dislike Starmer intensely. Is the much vaunted defenestration after the likely hammering in May on his cards do you think?
Everything I see makes me believe Farage will step down in 2027. I don’t think he really wants the power of being PM as its not a popular role. What’s interesting is that all 3 leaders are showing similar patterns on their chart so it could be that Starmer, Farage and Kemi all go around the same period. The election is 2029 so I wonder what causes all 3 to go together..
Reading all the UK news headlines today and looking back to your post of 11 August on the potential for discontent with transit Uranus sq UK Pluto due next year, it seems we are on course for that. It all feels like such a bungling mess which the average Joe has no control over, so I’m not surprised turnout was high when there is a chance to have a say. I was bemoaning the lack of political comedy shows to a friend earlier, but perhaps it couldn’t even be funny in that context anymore.
Just noticing the Labour Party’s Pluto at 20Gemini was squared by transiting Neptune in spring 2020 – just as Starmer took over. And it really does feel like Starmer has been unable to decide the direction of his Labour Party and empower it.
By-election turnout (50%) higher than usual for Caerphilly where it’s normally 41-44% so that’s an interesting change from most of the recent by-elections where voters haven’t bothered.
87% of the vote going to Plaid Cymru and Reform. There are Welsh elections in 2026 which may well see PC taking over in which case each of the devolved nations will likely be governed by Nationalist parties. And that surely plays into the Pluto in Aquarius era given that the English monarchy represents (rules?) all of them. Maybe the predictions that William will be last King are slightly askew and he will be last King of the UK, left only with England.
I’ve been wondering a bit lately if the eventual Uranus transit through Leo in 2039 will show up as reparations from the UK and other colonial countries to their old territories, and that if so, that that could spell the end of the Commonwealth.
As Pluto moves into the last few degrees of the UK 1801 Chart’s fourth house, it is transforming/ breaking down our political established groups, ready to give birth to a new form of politics and political groups in the fifth house. 2026/7 will see Pluto approach and transit two very important midpoints Saturn/Moon in the tenth and Sun/Pluto in the fourth house. Britain is moving from its old political rulerships into a new era.
The Saturn/Pluto midpoints in the 1801 chart fall at about 6 Aquarius which is exactly the same degree it occurs in the 1066 chart. Pluto crossed that degree in 1290-91, 1535-36 and 1781-82.
Saturn will be crossing the Pluto/Mars midpoint in the 1801 chart at 7 Aries in April and December 2026. Neptune will cross that degree in 2028 and 2029. The 7 Aries degree is also close to the UK 1801 Descendant.
Hugh.
Christmas 2027 has both Pluto and Venus very near that midpoint with the North node very close. Any thoughts please.
