Storm clouds over UK’s green and pleasant land

The UK ruling classes, political and Royal, have been holed below the waterline, in a moment that must be history changing with the King’s brother and the Labour Party/present government’s high mandarin both hauled in by the police. The left can’t call foul on the monarchy since they are equally in the frame.

Reading through Mandelson’s eye-curling wiki entry, the astonishment is he was ever let loose with not only dodgy financial associations leading to forced resignations but also connections to the ill-fated Millenium Dome and worse as a cheerleader for the Horizon IT system that caused so much misery to Post Office workers. He rose from failure to failure.

Andrew ditto, since all was well known from way back.

Mandelson’s birth time is not known but his previous resignations came with tr Uranus and then tr Neptune in first decan Aquarius and tr Pluto is also in early Aquarius at the moment. So one might reasonably assume his Midheaven is in early degrees of a Fixed sign. A Scorpio Midheaven will have tr Pluto square around now or in the next year or so which can bring a career meltdown.  Assuming a Scorpio midheaven he would have a full 9th house of international affairs – and more significantly Jupiter trine his Saturn, Sun, Neptune in Libra sextile an 8th house Pluto which make sense of the ‘prince of darkness’ – and international string-puller.

This is all guess work but his Progressed Mars is exactly conjunct his Progressed Saturn which would be sitting on his early Scorpio Midheaven at the moment and catching the tr Pluto square over the next two or three years.

What is incontrovertible is that Mandelson’s Pluto is conjunct the UK’s 11th house Saturn in Leo which represents the legislature. So his cold, dark hand was undoubtedly clamped round the political merry-go-round in ways that were clearly unhealthy.  His Uranus also falls in the UK 10th giving him the ability to shift the UK’s direction.

His relationship chart with the UK intriguingly has a composite Pluto at 28 Taurus square Uranus at 27 Leo which is catching the tr Uranus hard aspects at the moment. With more rifts ahead as tr Uranus opposes the composite Sun Mercury and devastation in terms of his public image in the UK come 2027/28.

Andrew’s yod apex Uranus in Leo rattles off two of the UK’s financial planets – Neptune in the financial 2nd and Venus in the speculative and playboy 5th. His Pisces Sun falls close to the UK Pluto which is approaching a turbulent tr Uranus square from this June onwards. So his fate may be intertwined with, or a catalyst for, the upheaval that will be coming.

Andrew’s relationship chart with the UK points to a three year phase ahead of unrelenting pressure as tr Pluto squares the composite Saturn and is conjunct the composite Sun, Venus with a volcanic tr Uranus opposition the composite Pluto along the way. He won’t be disappearing into the woodwork.

Two less than wonderful specimens of humanity who are of less interest in themselves than what their public disgrace means for the UK.

Maybe it is part of tr Uranus’s swansong before it exists the UK 8th, detonating secrets into the open – financial, sexual and otherwise. Tr Neptune Saturn is opposition the UK Uranus in the 12th at the moment for high uncertainty – and maybe just maybe Saturn Neptune’s better side emerging to push for improvements in a fairer society. Plus tr Uranus square the UK Pluto from June onwards and before then catching the UK Solar Arc ‘ruling classes’ Moon leading to much upset though with the possibility of a lesson-well-learnt bringing positive change – or not.  The UK Solar Arc Pluto conjunct the UK South Node in 2027 is difficult to interpret but sounds as if it could be a regressive step.

Stirring times. Not just Trump’s US that is in a mess.

One further Mandelson thought. His most notable Harmonic is the 20H with a Grand Cross of Sun, Pluto, Uranus, Jupiter.  The 10H is the wheel of fortune – fate throws high and then low. 20H is twice that. In the Tarot, the number 20 is the number of the Judgement card which says “What you reap, you sow.”   The German mystic, Jacob Boehme associated the number 20 with the Devil or in Jung’s terms the shadow self.

Anther interpretation of 20 is that it represents a major upheaval that leads to an awakening which changes the ambitions, ideals, goals or plans for one’s life. Considered good for spiritual development. Unlikely in this case I would have thought or in the case of Prince Andrew who also has a notable 20th harmonic chart with a Grand Cross linking Sun, Moon, Saturn and Venus.

  1. Whats Mandelson chart like with Keir Starmer ? It struck me at the time he was appointed that keir wanted anyone but Trumps favorite Nigel Farage. I also wondered who appointed Andrew to Trade envoy was it someone doing the queen a favour? In Norman Bakers first book I think he said the Queen hated signing off the chagos arrangements…was Charles of a similar view so perhaps Keir was looking to please him? Perhaps Harold Wilsons chart is still in play! Ai tells me he was famous for the first eu referendum in 75, equal pay and abortion laws. Top income tax 83%, high unemployment. I believe the BaZi for this year links back to 1966. Then 1906 etc.

    • It was Blair who appointed Andrew as Trade Envoy, on the supplication of Mandelson! Apparently, Charles actually tried to intervene, warning that Andrew was unsuitable and would seek to profit personally from the appointment but Blair ignored him! You really can see Mandelson in a Tudor drama, lurking in the shadows at court and sticking close to power.

  2. Last April Marjorie posted an article on the Capricorn triple conjunction, with a chart for the Uranus ingress of 15 February 1988. That conjunction of the late 1980’s and early 90’s is being activated now by tr Saturn and Neptune, and their conjunction this month at 0 Aries. Plus the UK Uranus in Libra is triggered, as Marjorie writes.

It’s interesting that the UK 1801 Uranus is in the 12th house of hidden enemies and self-undoing. I’m not sure how that works for a nation or other mundane chart, but it seems to be manifesting as we focus on events and structures that were forming or started at that time – including the New Labour project (Mandelson), and the heinous water companies. Even the marriage of AMW and Sarah Ferguson dates from that era – with a wedding in 1986, and separation in 1992.

Regarding the triple Capricorn generation, Marjorie says:

“The up and coming tr Neptune Saturn in Aries in 2026/27 and then tr Neptune beyond that for many years will impact in particular on the late 1980s/early 1990s triple conjunction generation.

Tr Neptune Saturn in Aries now and in 2026 is likely to ignite their hope for a better society since they have Saturn Neptune natally – with a focus on women and workers’ rights and advances in health care. Though it may also bring high tensions with tr Saturn Neptune square their natal Uranus with fixed and obsessive ideas, a difficulty facing reality, along with an upsurge of creativity. Uranus Neptune in the past has been connected in particular to religious art as well as mathematics.”

  3. Question for dear Hugh Fowler, Do you have your own website and blog? I always like reading your comments. They are a interesting answer on the articles of Marjorie
    .

    • No. I am just an amateur astrologer with an interest in how mundane astrology ties up with history. Marjorie and other contributors to this site are far better at reading personal horoscopes than I could hope to be.

  4. It has been said that people are like race horses and that if you want to know how they are likely to behave in the future then just look at how they have run in the past. Both Andrew and Mandelson had plenty of previous form in the book which should have made the risks of appointing them to public positions obvious. Despite this fact successive governments chose to ignore this information and kept giving them further opportunities to indulge their weaknesses and vices at the public expense. It is clear that with so many other British scandals that it is not only the individuals but the institutions in which they operate that are not fit for purpose.

    • And yet, how interesting that an even more obviously corrupt and self-interested bunch of shysters are currently presenting themselves as the alternative for government – if anything they are even worse, and that’s really saying something. Anyone who thinks voting for Reform is in any way acceptable needs their head examining.

      • I think the problem with British government goes way beyond political parties or the traditional squabbling between the left and right. It is the very structures of the institutions that is failing as has been seen from such incidents from the Post Office debacle through various MPs expenses scandals to the current crisis over Andrew/Mandelson. For example there are now calls for the monarchy to be reformed or abolished yet hardly any mention about getting rid of the ludicrously bloated House of Lords with its over 800 members most of whom have been appointed at the whim of different political administrations. There is no point in getting rid of the dysfunctional House of Windsor if one is going to allow people like Peter Mandelson to be simply appointed to the upper chamber of the legislature and then to exercise influence over how the country is governed.

        • Yes I agree Hugh. But my point still stands about Reform, and this relates directly to ‘structures of institutions’. Reform are on a very different scale to ‘squabbling between left and right’ – Essentially, if given power, they would preside over a very large exercise of ‘throwing baby out with bathwater,’ a wholesale scrapping of human rights protections, responsibility for state, freedoms for women, environmental legislation and social funding, whilst setting up restrictive new laws that support a racist authoritarian government and the super-rich – much the same model as Trump is doing in the US. They would be like Mandelson on steroids.

It is the flaws in the UK’s current system of governance (and I would include the media in this) that allow these charlatans to prey on downtrodden folk and convince them that they are the answer. They are clearly not.

The better alternative for the UK would be a review of our institutions and voting systems, and putting new improved models in place, so that our democracy could function in a way fit for purpose with all the correct checks and balances in place, and continue robust against the far right who are on the rise.

Sounds great, doesn’t it? It does all feel like the outer planets are being given a new lease of life. However they are not the ones who build the structures – Pluto, Neptune and Uranus are in the business of tearing structures down.

        • Excellent point. It is interesting to see how our Politicians have rushed in to debate or ask for reform. Yet they need reforming as well.

        • Just by looking at Andrew MW and the Uk’s composite you can see how basic astrology works. The very fact that the Sun/Leo is in the 5th/Aquarius depicts how explosive this is. A Son of a Royal dynasty embroiled in a massive sex scandal. Especially as transiting Pluto is now transiting this Sun. Couple this with Starmer’s natal chart Saturn at the same degree, as the composite Sun and we have both a Political ruler of the Party Mandelson served for decades and royals fighting to salvage something from this explosion. The UK midpoint between Sun/Pluto sits at 6 degrees of Aquarius, this is a momentous time for this country, as both the Establishment and Political realms are being brought into question – our ethics, political dealings and abuse of their power! Money, Power and Sex always lurk in the background in any scandal.

        • I cannot stop seeing in my mind’s eye the great and the good retiring with their port and cigars. Welcome, Pluto Aquarius, Uranus Gemini and Neptune Aries.

    • I wondered about the whole New Labour project in connection with all this. Tony Blair spoke about it on 4 October, 1994, when Venus, Jupiter, and the Nodes were conjunct, close to the UK Neptune in Scorpio. This was a Uranus conjunct Neptune in Capricorn era. Perhaps a time that was ready for new or revolutionary dreams?

The new Labour Government began on 2 May 1997, with the Sun conjunct the UK’s 8th house “financial” Mars in Taurus. The square between Venus 19 money-minded Taurus, and Jupiter in idealistic Aquarius (19) was just passed UK Neptune in Scorpio, 18, and Venus in Aquarius, 16. So plenty of Neptune, Venus and Jupiter creating the feel-good factor, the hopes, and the dreams. “Cool Brittania” being one of them…..

Saturn for 2 May 1997 was 14 Aries, so is having a return this year, beginning in June. Tr Saturn also conjoins the UK 1801 Nodes at 14 Aries then. Since Saturn enjoys a bit of history, and a bit of reap what you’ve sown, I’m curious to see what may still be waiting to emerge, and what might be tested this spring and summer.

      • that’s a really interesting perspective Jane, thank you. New Labour also continued and worsened the privatisation agenda, which is now coming back to bite with river quality worsening and fatcat water company bosses and shareholders making millions.

        • Thanks LisaV. Astonishing, really, to think that New Labour government began less than ten years after the Water Act, 1989. It would have been much easier to undo or at least address the privatisation damage back then. Marjorie’s post of 16 April 2024 is very interesting on this subject. The Great Stink of 1858 chart has Jupiter 29 Taurus conjunct Uranus – so being activated now. Neptune in Pisces, Nodes in Pisces – rather appropriate!

          • Yes. One of the main issues on water quality is the lack of enforcement of legal protection, which was made much worse by Brexit but could still have been enforced by government. River quality issues in Britain are basically 50% water company discharge, 50% farming, with a dash of other industry thrown in. Pisces and Taurus?

Your Jupiter-Uranus in Taurus is very apt! But could a lack of enforcement, ie a lack of regulation of water companies and farmers, also be something to do with Saturn (structure) and Neptune (water) in the UK chart? Perhaps this is too neat. It is precisely those ‘red tape’ aspect of the law which are being progressively torn down – by the Tories and now shamefully by Labour, (heaven forbid Reform getting in, they will rip up all environmental laws and our rivers really will die)

The Great Stink led to a big cleanup of pollution, basically the setting up of the sewerage systems in London and elsewhere. There might be hope….

  5. A program on tonight regarding the state of the rivers and the water companies shameful disregard for healthy waters. Quite an eye opener re the lack of accountability and “self monitoring” that they have relied on for years.

    • Did you see the sculpture, “The Fountain of Filth” (London, Feb 2026):

Apologies this is cut and pasted from google ai for speed. It describes:

‘A 10-metre wide installation at London’s South Bank featuring bronze-like figures of men, women, and children vomiting murky brown water. It was created to promote Channel 4’s drama Dirty Business and to highlight the human cost of UK water pollution. The installation also featured a statue of a suited executive with cash-stuffed pockets, symbolizing water company executives.’

Interestingly, Bazelgette’s Crossness Pumping Station is a former sewage pumping station designed by the architect Charles Henry Driver. It was built in 1865 and features spectacular ornamental cast ironwork, described by architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner as “a masterpiece of engineering – a Victorian cathedral of ironwork”.

You can visit it today, it has the most breathtakingly elaborate iron work, based on natural, organic forms. Neptune’s sojourn in Aries, ruled by Mars which in turn rules iron and Neptune’s artistic imagination combined produced some truly magnificent feats of engineering at the height of the Victorian period in the UK.

Much of the construction of Bazelgette’s pumping stations took place during the last cycle of Neptune in Aries.

  6. Thanks for such a comprehensive overview Marjorie.

Mandelson’s Pluto at 24 Leo opposes the Parliamentary Labour Party 1906 Sun/Venus at 22 Aquarius. In synastry that can equate to the power struggles, emotional obsession with the Venus partner being overwhelmed. Mandelson’s own Venus at 3 Libra is conjunct the Labour 1906 Moon so he and the Parliamentary party are bound together. Mandelson’s Venus squares the older 1900 Labour Saturn at 3 Capricorn which suggests the wider Labour membership and voters have an altogether chillier view of him.

The U.K. 1066 and 1801 Pluto are inconjunct Mandelson’s Venus. The 973 King Edgar Chart Sun/Mars at 25 Taurus is square his Pluto, its North Node in Libra is conjunct his Venus and its Jupiter in Virgo is conjunct his Mars.

Mandelson seems to trigger a lot of British charts both national, political and personal.

    • One institution rarely mentioned is the Civil Service, which rather like the Houses of Parliament, is yet another crumbling Victorian mausoleum

      • I’m actually not so sure about that – the civil service was hollowed out and de-funded for the last 14 years under the previous administration, but they are there effectively behind the scenes to run the country’s infrastructure. there are some very good civil servants and very good departments, running on a shoestring way beneath the level of funding they need to do their jobs. there is a lack of transparency there, but arguably they are controlled by Westminster / devolved administrations (depending on the issue)

        • LisaV, An accurate summary. It is also like a bridge between government and much of the public sector organisations, ie NHS, local government, etc

        • What you write, LisaV, can apply equally to the state of the US civil service, hollowed out and politicized under Trump, but still struggling to survive and function.

  7. Thanks Marjorie, a lot to think about here. I was struck by the progressed Mars/Saturn in Scorpio, which seem quite challenging. Curiously, they oppose alpha fixed star Hamal in Aries, now at 7 Taurus, which is said to have a Mars/Saturn influence.
With Mars: Violence, criminal tendencies, influential position but final disgrace and ruin. [Robson, p171.]

With Saturn: Cautious, thoughtful, critical, sarcastic, materialistic, interested in geology or agriculture, some domestic happiness, favorable for gain. [Robson, p171.]

The UK House of Commons chart, 1265, has Sun 8 Aquarius, Mercury 6 Aquarius opposing Neptune 9 Leo which may chime with this never-ending scandal, and Mandelson’s progressed Mars and Saturn. Coincidentally, the HoC also has a stubborn Saturn/Mars conjunction. Saturn 21 Taurus, Mars 23 Taurus. As you write:

“What is incontrovertible is that Mandelson’s Pluto is conjunct the UK’s 11th house Saturn in Leo which represents the legislature. So his cold, dark hand was undoubtedly clamped round the political merry-go-round in ways that were clearly unhealthy.”

So the House of Commons Saturn and Mars are at odds with the UK legislature’s Leo Saturn, and Mandelson’s natal Pluto. Something’s got to give! But with Keir Starmer talking about “the principle of transparency” rather than transparecy itself, I imagine a battle royal to even begin to sort out this appalling mess. It’s been brewing for a very long time.

  8. The King holds the title Supreme Governor of the Church of England – I suppose we could describe the Archbishop of Canterbury as the Chief Executive. Dame Sarah Mullally, the first woman to do so, holds that post (Born 26/3/62, Woking, Wikipedia). Given the troubled times we are in you would think we might be hearing something from her. I’m not aware of anything so far. I wonder if Majorie would be good enough to look at her chart. Are leadership qualities a feature?
