Starmer’s much lauded visit to China to thaw the ice age of relations and embrace Xi Jinping without managing to address China’s human rights abuses or fears of surveillance on UK territory has left analysts perplexed. Meagre gifts bestowed by Beijing were visa-free travel for visits of less than 30 days; stemming the flow of Chinese motors being used in the Channel; and tariffs on whisky halved, from 10 per cent to 5 per cent.
The relationship chart between Starmer and Xi Jinping may not mean much if Starmer goes soon – but it has an ominous Mars in early Cancer being undercut by tr Neptune in late April at the same time as tr Uranus squares the composite Pluto – so something will go up in the air.
That also shows up as a time of disappointment, uncertainty and upheaval on the China 1912/UK relationship chart with tr Neptune square the composite Saturn and opposition Jupiter as well as tr Uranus opposition the composite Uranus.
One sometimes wonders if Starmer knows what he is doing – he has a tin ear when it comes to political nous.

Ed’s father was ‘accused’ of being a Marxist because he was one and was quite open about it – nothing to do with the press, right wing or otherwise. Ed is possibly the most dangerous man in politics because he is a zealot with whatever subject takes his interest. The similarities in the charts of father and son explain Ed’s burning desire to ape his father, the factor that made him stab his own brother in the back. I would be interested to see Marjorie’s remarks on his chart because I am betting the Labour Party, having learned nothing from Ed’s last outing as Leader, will anoint him as PM when Starmer steps down which I think will certainly be this year.
It was the unions that made Ed Milliband leader.
Well, pardon me for forgetting the exact details.
Normally Prime Ministers start becoming obsessed with international jaunts when they tire of dealing with difficult domestic issues. It is something that usually crops up in second or third terms in office. Starmer seems have been obsessed with them since his first day in office. He has spent a huge amount of time foreign trips with over 38 visits to 28 countries in his first 18 months in office. By contrast seems to have a very limited focus on internal British issues apart from suppressing discussion of domestic issues be it online or expressed via the ballot box at local elections. This tends to reinforce the views of his critics who claim he has no interest in the country he leads. Again one wonders if this goes back to him seeing everything through the lens of his career as a lawyer specialising in international law.
Starmer’s Labour leadership chart has Pluto/Jupiter conjunct in the 7th House and his Premiership Chart has Jupiter in the 9th House sextile the North Node in the 7th House perhaps emphasising this overemphasis on international agreements, foreign affairs and trips overseas. One of the problems of Jupiter is it takes characteristics of whatever sign or house it occupies and just makes them bigger often at the expense of crowding out other things that should concern the individual. In his natal Chart Starmer has Sun/Pluto in Virgo opposite Jupiter/Chiron in Pisces. This reflects an almost overpowering link between his sense of his own personal identity and power and its emotional expression through his life in the law. The presence of Chiron indicates an underlying unresolved vulnerability in the area. This might explain some of Starmer’s behaviour which at times seems politically extremely naive. He may genuinely think all this trekking around the world on diplomatic missions is the best way he can serve his country but to many Britons it look as though these trips are self indulgent exercises producing little in the way of positive returns for the country he leads and are directing the government’s attention away from critical issues at home. The fact Starmer’s Neptune at 11 Scorpio is opposing the U.K. 1801 Mars 11 Taurus suggests his emotional needs are undermining the nations needs for action to maintain stability. Again the astrology suggests he is is the wrong man, in the wrong job, in the wrong country.
Interesting, Hugh. Starmer never fails to perplex me. Interesting too what you say about identity. His Sun/Pluto in Virgo opposite Jupiter/Chiron in Pisces also suggests a father wound and in fact his mother was a nurse who suffered from Still’s Disease, a form of arthritis that is thought to be autoummune or autoinflammatory. She periodically had to be cared for by his father, a conscientious, relentlessly hard-working toolmaker. He even stopped drinking alcohol so that he was always available and sober if his wife needed him. As a consequence, Starmer’s relationship with his father wasn’t as close and he must have felt shut out to an extent. This makes me think about his eagerness to impress world leaders, along with his people-pleasing, need-to-be-liked Libra Moon.
At home, as you say he is perceived as a poor father, neglecting the needs of the country and the British people themselves. Maybe it is the times we’re living through, but there is a paucity of leadership material on the front benches on all sides of the house. Yet another signature of our Aquarian era, no doubt.
Starmer’s father was Rod Starmer – I tracked down his date of birth, which according to genealogy sites is 25 December 1934, Surrey, UK. So if those details are correct his father is a hard-working Capricorn with his Moon in Leo and a Libra Mars which does not interface particularly well with his son’s Mars in Cancer, nor does his father’s Libra Mars look particularly comfortable conjunct Kier’s Libra Mercury. And his father also has a Sun quincunx Chiron in Gemini. That Gemini Chiron squares Kier Starmer’s Sun/Pluto in Virgo opposition Chiron/Jupiter in Pisces, making a mutable T-Square.
So with Trump for example, we see the same synastry in that Trump’s Mercury in Cancer conjuncts Starmer’s Mars. And if Rod Starmer’s Moon is in late Leo, then it may well link up with Trump’s Mars.
Very interesting. Starmer’s Mars is in Fall in Cancer so it is not an easy placement.
Starmer is a bit of enigma. He always reminds me of another PM Ted Heath who was also a rather wooden, plodding managerialist. There are some similarities in their manifesto policies and behaviour in government as well. Oddly Heath was a gifted musician and Starmer showed talent in that area as well. You have to wonder what propels these individuals to take up politics, a career for which both look ill suited.
Very interesting re Starmer’s father’s dob! Ed Milliband, 24th December 1969 – another Christmas Capricorn like his father – was most influential in persuading KS to enter politics in the first place, and instrumental in finding him his constituency in London.
Assuming KS’ father has Sun quincunx Chiron in Gemini, it is curious to see Ed Milliband’s Capricorn Sun square Chiron in Aries. They made a t-square with KS Mercury 4 Libra.
There’s a striking Jupiter (law and expansive optimism?) link – Starmer’s Jupiter conjunct Chiron in Pisces is conjunct Milliband’s Pisces Mars trine Jupiter in Scorpio. Milliband has Jupiter, 1 Scorpio, inconjunct Chiron, 2 Aries.
The two men are also linked by Saturn (father?) and Uranus. Starmer’s Saturn 5 Aquarius is inconjunct Uranus 1 Virgo. Milliband’s Saturn at 2 Taurus trines that Uranus, but squares KS Saturn. Milliband, like Starmer, has Saturn inconjunct Uranus, 8 Libra – which trines the KS Saturn.
So a complex web between these two, with perhaps familiar unconscious family/father issues somehow providing an important link between them?
Just to add – Ralph Miliband, Ed’s father, was another Capricorn, 7 January 1924. His Sun, 15 Capricorn, opposed Pluto 11 Cancer, forming a t-square with Chiron, 16 Aries. EM’s Moon is 11 Cancer. Starmer’s Sun/Pluto opposes Jupiter/Chiron which trine Ed’s Cancer Moon.
Thank you, Jane. I seem to remember that Ed’s father was accused of being a Marxist during his election campaign by some right-wing tabloids. Just as an aside, my brother-in-law is a Sun and Mars in Capricorn and is a committed Socialist, most conscientious, he is always involved in civic duties, a willing and very able volunteer. But Marxism and Socialism are not what one immediately connects with a conservative sign like Capricorn, yet it does seem to crop up in these charts. Capricorn is however connected with social order and the father/patriarch archetype in general. The Labour Party is yet to have a female leader and yet to have a leader from an ethnic minority, whereas the Tories have had both, which is interesting.
Just to say how much I agree with this, Hugh. And intriguing about Starmer’s musical talents too, particularly in view of Marjorie’s comment about his “tin ear” when it comes to politics!
For the law he has a strong Libra emphasis in his chart – the Moon, and Mercury conjunct mean BML in Libra. Which may also partly explain his endless u-turns. Virgo seeks order, Pisces is nebulous, boundary less, almost chaotic, no matter how much he tries to seeks order and control.
The same with Canada, when both countries should know better … all thanks to Trump, who has managed to help China by alienating American allies. But given how much he admires the likes of Putin and Xi, maybe he’s perfectly ok with that outcome.
I do tend to read whole sign, so apologies this is slightly different. This week’s visit coinciding with the ingress of Neptune into Aries, the UK’s 7th sign, feels like foggy relationships to me. Especially considering Mars, the ruler of Aries, is in the UK’s 8th house.
Interesting the week Neptune ingressed into Aries last year, Trump signed off on the Chagos Islands deal, and yet here we are.
Thank you for this Marjorie.
A strange time to visit China when there is so much going on at home I thought. And is it a wise move and will he regret it was my second thought. Perplexing.
