New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, a vocal supporter of the #MeToo movement against sexual harassment and a fierce opponent of President Donald Trump, has resigned following allegations of assault by four women, which he “strongly contests”. In a statement, he said “In the privacy of intimate relationships, I have engaged in role-playing and other consensual sexual activity. I have never engaged in non-consensual sex.” As New York state’s chief prosecutor, he recently brought legal action against Harvey Weinstein; sued on behalf of 600 students over a Trump real estate investment school which the students said offered no real education. A $25m (£18m) settlement was reached.

One treads warily in these delicate matters but I’m not sure I’d count a clumsy pass as sexual assault. Or get rattled about misogynistic abuse. Manys a time I’ve made disparaging comments about the male of the species to their faces. It’s difficult to assess without hearing what was actually said or done. My worry would be that collapsing all allegations together – crass comments and misread flirtations along with serious predatory behaviour will undermine the long overdue attempt to stop abuse of women.

As for allegations, I also really worry that one day there might be a false one, either to discredit the man or the movement.
That said, I do believe what the women say about Diaz, and I think the reason it’s a bigger deal than those actions might
suggest is that he currently presents
himself as not only a feminist, but one
championing women of color in particular – the very ones he had
previously mistreated. Of course often people hurt those closest to them
The questions are – has he indeed changed with therapy ? (I think to some extent, but not completely rid of certain male prerogatives) and why has he not issued a more direct apology and explanation to his accusers, such as,” I am truly sorry I was such a boor and hurt you, I didn’t know better etc … and I am now a feminist to make amends and tell others not to be like I was.” (I’d suspected his characters were semi-autobiographical, and now we know they are) instead of that political platform-sounding statement he issued
In Schneiderman’s case, it’s all there on his chart. Capricorn Sun keeps the facade, Pisces Moon likely conjunct Mars just lacks bounderies. Tremendous mostly surpressed anger there.
Also, the Schneiderman story was broken by Ronan Farrow again, which makes it even more reliable. People who would have otherwise remained silent in fear of repercussion now talk to him.
I think you have used an incorrect year of birth for Eric Schneiderman. You’ve listed him as born in 1964. Google reports 1954, making him 63 years old.
