Thousands turned out to line the streets for former boxer Ricky Hatton’’s funeral in Manchester Cathedral after his surprise death aged 47. During his glittering 15-year career, he won four world titles at both light-welterweight and welterweight. But after his retirement was open about his struggles with alcohol, drugs and depression including suicidal thoughts. He had always been a heavy drinker and his crash diets to get down to weight before fights, sometimes losing three stone in a matter of weeks, would not help his health. He had tempestuous relationships with his family and his girlfriend with whom he had two children, though they emphasised that he seemed “in a good place” in the period before his death.
He was born 6 October 1978, Stockport, England, no birth time, and had an intense Sun, Pluto, Mercury in Libra – Sun Pluto suggests a controlling father and subsequently a need to stay in control himself. Mercury Pluto would give him a tendency to look on the dark side. His volatile, turbulent Mars Uranus Venus stellium in Scorpio would need constant excitement and thrills so retiring from the ring would not be easy. His Saturn in hard-working Virgo was in an imaginative, though can-be-neurotic square to Neptune.
He may have had a Sagittarius Moon trine Jupiter in Leo – or a late Scorpio Moon.
When he died his Progressed Mars was moving to conjunct his Neptune which would have been debilitating.
When there is no verified birth time, midpoints can be helpful to pin down character traits. His Saturn sat on the midpoint of his Sun/Jupiter midpoint which would incline him to negative states of mind. His Uranus conjunct his Sun/Neptune midpoint would contribute to inner chaos and a highly strung temperament. His North Node conjunct his Sun/Saturn midpoint would contribute also to a tendency to seclusion and gloomy thoughts.
His North Node in late Virto was triggered by the recent Solar Eclipse prompting him to pull away from his dreamer Pisces South Node.
There is no clear explanation as to why he died though a combination of years of heavy drinking, cocaine usage and crash dieting would have taken their toll.

Pythagoras the Boxer
Pythagoras of Samos, a young man who won the men’s boxing event at the ancient Olympic Games, is often mistakenly identified as the philosopher Pythagoras. However, recent scholarship suggests that the boxer was the same person as the philosopher, Pythagoras of Samos, who was known to have trained other Olympic athletes. Pythagoras of Samos’s victory at the 48th Olympiad, despite being excluded from the boys’ boxing contest, highlights his exceptional skill and determination. His victory at the Olympic Games is a testament to his athletic prowess and is a significant part of his legacy as a boxer and philosopher
Richy Hatton had Pythagoras conj Uranus in his 1st House…..hightlighting his
exceptional boxing skills.
I rectiified his chart to 8:25 am. Mercury-Mars-Pluto on the Asc emphasize the strength
of his arms. Mythical Pythagoras was a boxer and he is in Rich’s Asc.
At death, trans Pluto was on his iC: trans Neptune, drugs, alcohol was conj his 6th cusp
of health, injury; trans Grave was square his 8th cusp; Solar Arc Pluto was trine his
6th cusp; SA Nemesis, death, was on his Asc; SA Neptune, drugs, etc, conj his IC;
SA Kronos, authorities, was on his MC, because they were investigating his death as mysterious, Neptune emphasized. Mid October they will annouse their findings, causse of death. Here is his rectified chart….enlarge with magnifier.

Thank you Marjorie, this really interesting to me. He was a much loved character in Manchester, despite his erratic behaviour. I thought Pluto would appear powerfully in his chart and conjunct Mercury and the Sun in cardinal sign Libra would indicate his ambition, overcoming a difficult background. And the intense Scorpio stellium with prominent Mars in its own sign emphasises the theme, with Chiron opposite the Mars suggesting so much powerful energy could overcome him as well as his boxing opponents. And Uranus at the midpoint between the Mercury Pluto conjunction and Neptune indicates the pull alcohol and drugs had and the unpredictable effect they would have on him.
