Arab separatism in Ahvaz Khuzestan (iran) seeks to establish an independent state, from what they define as “Iranian occupation”.
Khuzestan was an emirate known as “Arabistan” before 1924. It was occupied by Iranian Reza Shah in july 1925.
Ahvaz unrest, protests, riots in April 2005, 2011.
Will Khuzestan be independent someday?

(1724-1925).
The state was at high prosperity in 1737. Then went to wars against Iranians, Ottomans and English (1757-1768)
A treaty between England, Iran, Ottomans and Al-Ka’abiyah state in 1837.
Anglo-Persian War in 1856–1857. The English forces withdrew in 1857.
The last emir reigned from June 1897 to April 1925, when an agreement between Britain and Iran, which gave the right to Iranian forces to occupy Arabistan in July 1925.
