For fun and games, 2025 Eurovision Song Contest edition was defying the statistic established in many ways. Both the jury and the televote were all around, leaving some of the heavy favourites by the odds and fan votes behind and making it a very plain playground. I wonder if there was something on Basel skies circa 21:00 CEE to cause this.
Had a look at the astrology and thought it maight be a little odd with that Sun/Uranus/Algol conjunction today, but that was some bizarre voting. Glad that Austria won.
RIP Duncan Campbell. A brilliant journalist back when journalist meant something.
So there’s this new memoir The New York Times is writing about, and I haven’t followed it all, in which Barry Diller reveals he is gay. He is, of course, married to Diane von Furstenberg. I was wondering what the synastry is like? And do we know of any such other gay man – straight woman affairs, marriages, and deals? So intriguing.
They are called “lavender marriages” and, at one time when homosexuality was either illegal or the end of one’s career even when legalised, was very common in Hollywood. You can google that term for whole lists of such marriages.
Women who went out with known gay men as their cover were called their “beards” (I think because they are hiding the man’s true face).
One of my aunts had a lavender marriage to a German Jewish art dealer, they later divorced. It was one way you could hide behind a veneer of respectability at a time when homosexuality was criminalised.
See, I knew that term, but totally forgot about it! But I didn’t know about “beard”!
Hi Marjorie
Could you look at Peru, please. They have a state of emergency due to high crime and gang violence. Their prime minister has just resigned meaning the President has to reappoint a new cabinet, something she has only just done. Your astro thoughts would be appreciated
Marjorie: a question re. Brexit after I read your posts on it. I see you treat the birth of Brexit as the referendum decision date, June 23, 2016. However, the implementation date was January 31, 2020, 23:00 GMT. Do you ever use the 2020 date for anything, and if so, for what purpose? And if not, why not? I ran a chart for Jan. 31/20 and was rather shocked to see the Sun has no aspects……? Would be interested to have your comments. Thanks.
The way I read it, Brexit started/was born on on referendum date.
The implementation of the Withdrawal Agreement started on January 31, 2020, 23:00 GMT.
So you’d use different charts depending on whether you are looking on Brexit as a whole (such as what people think about it now, etc) or its implementation (such as whether the EU & the UK could amend it on specific topics, its impact on Northern Ireland, etc).
Good point as to Brexit as a whole – the social and political impact of the decision to go ahead and do it. I agree that is the key initiating event. And I didn’t think about the implementation chart involving the counterparties like the EU, though of course that’s core too! So, is the implementation chart the legal side of it as to the ‘partners’, leaving the concept and social impact in Britain to the earlier chart? I’m confused as to which is really the birth that brought it into material existence (if you will), or does it need both? Like the US chart of the declaration of independence vs the US constitution chart, or even the chart for the US win at Yorktown (the battle that ended the war between the colonies and England)? And what does it mean that the implementation Sun has NO classic aspects at all? Mercury and all the other planets were direct on Jan31/20. Only the Sun seems to be non-existent relative to the other planets that have no aspects to it. Also, the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th houses are chockablock full of planets and the rest of the chart is pretty much blank (though of course the rulers are there). Seems weird. Interpretation?
If you want something off-beat for an astrology topic, Marjorie, could you have a look at the relationship between France and Algeria?
Algeria was, before independence, not a separate colony but an integral part of France and therefore of the EEC when founded. It was thus the first territory of a member-state to leave the EEC (Greenland was the next).
After independence, the relationship between the two has been affected by the perceptions of the pieds noir, white French citizens who had resided in Algeria for generations and had to flee back to France when Algeria became independent.
Right now, France and Algeria are expelling each others diplomats. France is upset about Algeria not taking back its citizens who are arriving illegally in France, while Algeria is trying to pressurise France on the issue of Western (formerly Spanish) Sahara (another potential topic for a light day). France recognises Morocco’s claim to the territory, while Algeria recognises a self-declared republic in that territory.
General astro question for anyone please – I look to the Sun (poss Saturn) for the father in a chart generally, Moon for mother. Any tips on looking for grandparents? Planets or houses, and any difference for maternal/paternal – or is it all still Sun and Moon? My maternal grandparents were such a different influence on my life than my parents (who fit well with my Sun/Moon sign/house placements), I was just curious.
Hi. Personally for me, my Sun was the sig factor for my relationship with my grandmother. Her sun was exactly opposite mine. We seemed to understand each other. She felt like more of a mother to me.
I use Pluto for grandparents and grandchildren. Cancer & Moon is mother. Scorpio & Pluto for grandmother. Pisces & Neptune for all-mother.
Grandparents 8th house gives intergenerational connections and influential grandparents show up as 8th house planets.
Thanks all, I will take all this!
So sorry Marjorie,
I love this forum and read it daily but I just need to go on another ‘rant’ here with a sprinkle of astrological query so delete me or not, whatever you feel is justified.
So people always talk about money is route/root of all evil. Really, I ask myself? Thought about it and no because it is only a tool that you use – waste it or use it to get to where you’re going in life…. etc.
You know what’s the route/root of all evil? Complacency!! Real talk.
Complacent in seeing what is happening or going on and pretending to have nothing to say – not wanting to join the collective voice. ‘Oh’ you say to yourself ‘It’s none of my business, I have enough problems …’ but if it touches your personal circle it then all of a sudden is your business. As if those people outside of the circle are not human beings like your circle, who don’t have a mother/father, children, have red blood like us, don’t feel pain, loss, hurt, etc. Basically everything we may feel.
Nazism, Facism and that whole nine yards rose, out of control and became greater than the whole because of people’s complacency, i.e countries, internationally, etc. Racism is also in the mix as one of the ‘Isms’ but not trying to create another conversation. Anyway …..
We debate about the this and that of the why and how, but how complacent are we when a government can say they are justified to do what they do because of a small group of people within millions (I mean hundreds of millions) of a population, and people ‘oh okay, it’s justified’ because they don’t think they will be touched personally?
So, what is the astrology to explain this mental capacity for complacency going on to the point that generations of people now coming up are seeing complacency as the ‘norm? Gaza, Ukraine, Trump Admin (ICE), are the top 3 in my book. I am perplexed so the astrology may say something?
What happened to the gumption of our previous generations who knew how to make the masses be heard (and I mean undeniable scale) where Western governments had to think twice? Please tell me what is causing this dry rot in mindset which is impacting critical thinking and actioning anything? Someone/Anyone? Thanks for whatever insight.
‘Rant’ over
It’s not complacency, at least not these days, it’s despair. And frustration that action seems futile. Oddly I’ve been involved in three conversations this week where all of us admitted that we don’t watch the news any more and only follow headlines. I get a Sunday paper because I’m interested in trends, moods and like the magazines. We’re not complacent, just appalled and feel helpless. One conversation was with someone who had also worked to stop a traffic plan. We sort of won in the sense that it didn’t go ahead because of lack of funds. Our protests over 2 years had caused delays. We learnt just how corrupt the system was not just in being dishonest but also by its complexities meaning that unless you have free barristers and solicitors on tap there’s no way you can win however much the authorities promote it as a democratic process. Every trick in the book was used. This is why people don’t get involved because it’s like bashing your head against a locked door without anyone acknowledging that you are doing it. In our case the plan was stopped but not formally jettisoned. When Ukraine was invaded people in the UK responded immediately in accepting Ukrainians into their homes. I don’t know anyone who is not involved in some kind of charity work or donations of money, food, clothes and other artefacts. People do what they can. Childcare, hospices, youth clubs all relay heavily on ordinary people’s time and money. Society would collapse if voluntary actions and work ceased. And that’s without the ordinary everyday spontaneous acts of kindness that make the world go round. So it’s not all gloomy. We all do what we can not that 24 hr media reflects that. Previous generations, including mine, did not live with a barrage of sensational global news minutiae, let alone a running commentary by keyboard warriors who increasingly influence our ‘leaders’. Our societies are less cohesive with divided loyalties. The world has changed but people haven’t. When in great despair once I was told to look after my own hearthstone ie concentrate on the small things. It helped.
Sorry no astrology just a response.
It’s a quote from the Bible “the love of money is the root of all evil”.
Root as in seed. Complacency isn’t the root. Weeds in your garden don’t grow from complacency, they grow from some kind of seed. Being complacent just means you didn’t take steps to remove them but it isn’t the root cause.
Hope that helps clarify your thinking.
Hi. Found some interesting astrology. I saw that someone with my exact birthday has something similar: an absent father. His father was in prison on this date and I was adopted —birthfather not in the picture at all, for me. Assuming, he and I were born at different times of day and have diff Moon/ASC (diff houses), what could explain this somewhat “shared” experience? Uranus? Saturn in Taurus, Venus in Scorpio. Pluto-Virgo—1969 Astro. Thanks all.
Sun sign?
Sorry, should have posted that. SAG.
Sagittarius Sun square Pluto – and Uranus in Virgo. The Sun is the father and square Pluto is the Plutonic father. This can be a controlling, dominating father but very often is the father out-with your control – not there, died young or otherwise off somewhere else.
Sun square Uranus also points to a disengaged father for whatever reason. He may be there but for reasons of temperament or circumstance you are left feeling separate from him. Or he may literally not be present.
Thank you but I had a typo-sorry. Uranus was in Libra. Appreciative.
Hi Amelia, is Saturn retrograde? Sometimes that’s a factor associated with an absent, disengaged, or weak father.
Don’t know. I’ll check -thanks!
Sorry, no astrology here and possibly a rant. Having worked in virology and cancer research for 43 years, I have to make a comment about the use of animals in medical research. We owe them everything. Our hip replacements, our treatments of childhood leukaemia’s, even birth control pills would not have happened without testing procedures and medications on animals first. We not only owe the countless animals, (who did not consent), we owe the people who first said yes to experimental treatments. Although much has changed and thank goodness for that, we continue to rely on mice, rats, rabbits, dogs and human beings to keep us living longer and happily today.
I would like Marjorie to look at Anthony Fauci’s chart. Finally the Trump administration National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director Jay Bhattacharya announced this week the agency is halting decades-long experiments where beagles were subjected to cruel scientific procedures under Director Fauci’s NAID.Taxpayer funded dog cruelty will stop.
Antonia, Your comments do veer irritatingly towards rants and I would be grateful if you would confine yourself to astrology and/or calm down.
The outcome to stop cruel beagle experiments is “new” and therefore relevant. And, doing a chart on Fauci’s -after many conflicting perspectives on the man-would be as interesting as charts of Springsteen’s to Trump’s-or any of the people chosen alongside a relational connection to Trump.
There is a bias here-and it only allows “rants “ against Trump.
I don’t understand how those that offer up other POV’s are deemed ranters-and their posts deleted.
Zita,Solana,Nicola,GB and Jennifer E:All permissible rants I guess ;
There’s yet another another attempt in Toronto to expunge the name of Dundas (this time from a subway stop) without public consultations.
It’s very curious considering that Henry Dundas literally ended slavery in Scotland.
His successful defence of a Black slave, Joseph Knight, caused Scotland’s top court to declare that no one could be a slave on Scottish soil.
Astro relevance and citations, please & thank you
Thanks for your response Beth.
Although I failed to ask Marjorie directly, I’d like to know what she might reveal re: the man Henry Dundas and or the current fashion in Toronto to discredit his admirable achievements.
The landmark decision in Knight v. Wedderburn declared that no person could be a slave on Scottish soil, effectively prohibiting both negro slavery and native serfdom in Scotland. This decision was instrumental in the abolition of slavery in Scotland.
He was a Sun Taurus opposition Pluto in Scorpio square Saturn in Leo; with Mars in Aries trine Saturn and square Uranus – it does not exactly scream bleeding-heart liberal or a sympathiser of the oppressed.
Hello Marjorie,
Would you consider to have a look on Jose Mujica, beloved former President of Uruguay? He has died of cancer. Nicknamed the « world’s poorest president », he was famous for his rustic lifestyle and passed a number of progressive laws during his presidency.
On his last interview, he said “Life is a beautiful adventure and a miracle,” “We are too focused on wealth and not on happiness. We are focused only on doing things and – before you know it – life has passed you by.”
Peter Sullivan was jailed for the murder of Diane Sindall, 21, in 1987, but today three senior judges quashed his conviction after the Court of Appeal heard DNA evidence showed the killer was someone else. He is 68 now and with learning difficulties. What is the astrology for this sort of heinous injustice.
No birth date for him. See Andrew Malkinson in Search for previous 2023 post. Another miscarriage.
Thank you yes that was bad too
It’s just the saddest thing. His learning disability made him such an easy target/scapegoat.
I think his release at 29 degrees Saturn in Pisces is significant, possibly karmic.
Fixed star scheat is 29 Pisces so currently conjunct transiting Saturn. Scheat is an unfortunate star and associated with imprisonment, amongst other bleak things.
Marjorie, noting your recent post on actress Halle Berry, she too has natal Saturn in Pisces, conjunct Sheat.
Thank you-another useful piece of puzzle.
Yes, awful. Shades of Stefan Kiszko, also intellectually disabled who was wrongfully jailed for the murder of 11 year old Lesley Molseed and spent 16 years behind bars before being released.
Hi Marjorie, can you look at the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency? It was formed on March 1, 2003 in Washington DC (no time, but presumably midnight as it’s listed as the day the agency would go into effect). The agency is running amok under the Trump administration, with military-clad masked agents pulling people off the streets without warrants. In one case in Massachusetts, they’re videotaped taking an axe to a car and pulling out people in what turned out to be mistaken identity. The terrified people in the car had called their immigration lawyer who told them to stay in the car until she could get there but the ICE agents wouldn’t wait. The case was since dismissed in court (helps to have a lawyer, and videotape the abuse).
Hi Majorie,
I am very curious about another Netflix Show: KAOS. it reminds me very much of Liz Greene’s archetype astrological analysis and how she speaks of the outer planets as Greek gods – who struggle with tasks, lessons & challenges, according to aspects or transits. It seemed very zeitgeisty to me … powerful rulers, drunk on power, trying to hold onto absolute control, self-destructing … the fates spinning the wheel of life. It is a delightful take on Greek mythology with a marvelous cast of many older actors in active and sexy roles. Would love your take on it! One of my favorite British Mini-Series.
Both me and my husband loved it and were gutted when it was cancelled.
I still cannot believe it either – how was this not a success?
I also enjoyed Kaos; a very fun, interesting, and, dare I say, educational show. Jeff Goldblum starred as Zeus. He also played the Wizard in this year’s wildly popular film adaptation of the musical Wicked. Maybe he had/has some some fantastical Neptune going on to attract these roles?
Jeff Goldblum was delightful … definitely going to watch Wizard now!
Hi Marjorie ….. Can you explain astrologically regards the 49 South African white Refugees that arrived in the USA today. President Trump made provision for these white minorities to take up residence there and now apparently other minorities may apply as well. Thank you.
Curious about this too…
Hi Marjorie, when you have a chance, it would be great if you can share some of your favourite (current and older) astrology books? Perhaps your top 5 recommendations to newbies and/or more advanced students?
Many thanks.
Hi Marjorie
Wondering what’s going on with Halle Berry astrologically these days? Seems to be displaying desperation seeking attention tendencies!
First recently wearing the half naked dress to Met Gala and reportedly this Mother’s Day announcing that she will be having sex. Like why oh why – Because she nearly sixty and still getting some? She should just be thankful and continue to enjoy herself. She stills looks good but she can now shine in other ways because this is not it.
The Starmer Govt term chart has the MC at 3 Cancer and Moon at 8 Cancer, both are conjunct Starmer’s natal Mars at 6 Cancer (quincunx Saturn in Aquarius). This suggests that there could be domestic strife, or even an attack of some kind. Certainly a challenging interface with the public. Today we hear of arson damage to two properties where Starmer has lived. There does appear to be widespread dismay and anger that a Labour government has chosen to go after the most vulnerable to ‘balance the books’. There are other options but Starmer would actually to have convictions that go beyond his personal ambition. The term chart does seem to be quite volatile.
Although at this stage we have no idea regarding motivation, or who could be behind it.
I keep in mind about what Marjorie has said about the turbulence the UK is going through in 2026 (i have a sense of major cyber attacks and power grid failures). I do wonder with Starmer digging his heels in on this approach (which looks set to fail) that the collective energy with pluto in aquarius and saturn/neptune in aries energises people to do whatever it takes to get their sense of ‘justice’ across – whatever their political side. Even astrologically, knowing there is some major winds of change across the world it seems foolish for this government to think they can do business as usual – this isn’t a 2010 ‘take your medicine’ electorate it’s a very tired and contracted one on all sides of the political spectrum.
“the collective energy with pluto in aquarius and saturn/neptune in aries energises people to do whatever it takes to get their sense of ‘justice’ across – whatever their political side.”
One needs to be careful with loaded words like “justice”.
The far-right’s idea of justice and fairness may not be to everyone’s liking, let alone progressives/liberals, but in their own minds, it is undeniably justice.
If interpretated that way, I would presume there would be race riots in the UK in 2026.
I agree with you on how loaded ‘justice’ can be. Right now there is not enough rhetoric bridging people together and if 2025 is meant to be a hint or setting off foundations to what comes in 2026/7 (as i’ve heard some mundane astrologers say) I am worried that political groups will take things to their version of ‘justice’ which could be extreme if unchecked or ungrounded. I’ve always thought about the monologue that began Patrick Kellier’s ‘1994’ documentary set through London and the 1992 election:
“Dirty Old Blighty. Undereducated. Economically backward. Bizarre. A catalogue of modern miseries. With its fake traditions, its Irish war, its militarism and secrecy, its silly old judges, its hatred of intellectuals, its ill-health and bad food, its sexual repression. Its hypocrisy and racism and its indolence. Its so exotic, so … homemade.”
Worth considering perhaps is Pluto in early Aquarius and Neptune moving between Pisces and Aries (like this year) back in 1534. The Act of Supremacy, passed on 3 November 1534, made Henry VIII Supreme Head of the Church of England. Saturn was established, 9 Leo, but in a fire sign like this year, while Uranus was 22 Cancer. The Nodes, representing direction and also the general population I think, were about to move from Leo to Cancer. Jupiter, for the King and legal or religious matters, would enter Aquarius by the end of that November.
Anyway, as you know, the English Reformation was a period of ongoing upheaval, destruction, and controversy. Protestants were happy, no doubt, but Catholics were not – and their lives were often in grave danger. Thousands were executed in the following years. The Dissolution of the Monasteries (and Nunneries) came next, beginning in 1536, when Jupiter and Neptune were conjunct in early Aries. Yes, there was a great deal of energy for change then, but change isn’t always a joyful or harmless thing.
It’s even possible the attack was meant for the tenants in the N London house. In an odd way, Mars in Cancer quincunx Saturn in Aquarius send a message of adjustments between people, home, the collective, ideaology and self-protection. Going after disability benefits upsets everyone. Raising income tax on higher salaries might have been a better plan? And doing something about benefit fraud, which has been rife for years, might help as well…..
There is planning for a 5 story block of flats in Dartmouth Park where Millibands and Cumberbatch type hypocrites live. The usual very liberal types but not in THEIR neighbourhood. Milliband’s wife, a human rights judge has opposed the plan. angela v Ed in public. Rocky, rocky.
Money not only talks, it also walks, often away.
Quite a few millionaires are leaving the UK, after changes to the non-dom rules.
The son of a personal friend, who is earning well in insurance, has sold his London house (which tells you how well he was earning that he could buy a house, not just a flat, in London) and moved to Dubai. According to him, it is cheaper to rent in Dubai and pay no tax, than live in London and pay higher tax.
It is not that easy to just tax the rich, because after they have left, the country is poorer as a whole.
Implementing wealth taxes will also have the same issue. Rich people can and will leave. And the immigrants coming here, even the highly skilled, can’t replace that wealth.

This is hardly a new story and not uncomplicated.

Zita,Solana,Nicola,GB and Jennifer E:All permissible rants I guess ;

Hmm, seems to be heavily conflicted evidence in this one.
