No 10 the revolving door – who next?

The day that we thought would never come – Theresa May’s departure is finally settled, amidst tears, a few compliments and more brickbats for a failed term as prime minister. The timeline for the leadership contest appears to be: kick off June 10 with handfuls of candidates who are whittled down by Tory parliamentary MP votes to two or four, who are then put forward to the membership, who should produce a winner before the summer recess so circa mid-July.

The only thing that is clear is that the initial in-house phase will be brutal with Mars in Cancer opposition Saturn on June 14th and then Mars opposition Pluto a few days later – high tension, aggravated tempers, ruthless ambition on display.  Then early in July the Cancer Solar Eclipse is conjunct the UK Sun for a mood of heightened tension and a sense of impending crisis.

A quick scan down the top hopefuls – with the usual caveats of nearly all having no birth time so missing information; and also to be remembered, some who appear cheerful/successful may be seeing their best buddy into No 10 and are therefore in line for a good job, rather than winning the poisoned chalice themselves.

Boris tops the public polls, though not amongst his Westminster colleagues who appear to seriously dislike him. Being a front runner isn’t always a good thing or a sign of first past the post. From July 10th onwards he has an exceptionally trapped and frustrated tr Pluto opposition his Mars/Pluto midpoint which doesn’t sound uplifting; with some jitter and jangle before that but nothing too noteworthy, except for tr Uranus trine his Solar Arc midheaven (birth time being accurate) which suggests a change of career direction.

The ones who have a sprinkling of Jupiter are:

Matt Hancock, Health Secretary, surprisingly, looks in bouncing form at the moment into early June, and again in July with transits to two Jupiter midpoints through till September. Seems unlikely but he’s feeling good whatever the result.

Jeremy Hunt has a fair amount of tension and panic but also one mild Pluto transit to a Jupiter midpoint from July 10th onwards plus emotional excitement and change – later in the year from mid August is less confidence-boosting.

Liz Truss has one boost in June.

Penny Mordaunt – had it come a month earlier she’d have been in with a real chance with strong Pluto transits to two Jupiter midpoints and although their shadow will be around, the exact aspect is gone until early next year.

Michael Gove has some lucky break Uranus aspects to two Jupiter midpoints though they are mild and may not balance out other aggravated and trapped influence running at the same time.

Others:

Sajid Javid: Not standing on solid ground, hopes dashed, a Neptunian dip.

Amber Rudd: undermined, confused, stuck.

Andrea Leadsom: overly intense, upset, blocked.

Dominic Raab: Nothing illuminating showing.

Rory Stewart: In general a swampy year and no hints of elevation.

  1. Boris Johnson just summoned to Court to face accusations of misconduct charges.
James Cleverly just announced born 4 September 1969 in Lewisham, London.
Rory Stewart making some waves born 3 January 1973 in Hong Kong.
Would you have any thoughts Marjorie?

  2. Thanks Marjorie. I agree about ruling out the others. Raab launched his bid on a VOC Moon and I’m not seeing anything much on this chart without a birth time. Leadsom does have both a natal Mercury Rx and it’s at 29 degrees, which seems to be the prevailing trend among leaders these days and Penny Mordaunt has a natal Mercury station at 28 pisces, but I don’t see anything significant transit wise at first glance on either chart. Stewart’s Sun is opposite the upcoming eclipse, but again, I don’t see much else.

Matt Hancock and Jeremy Hunt both have Jupiter at 3-4 Leo, which will receive the Mercury Rx station over the summer.

Liz Truss will receive the Mercury Rx station on her natal Sun and the Mercury station direct on her natal Mercury/Saturn. She looks stronger and more significant than I personally would have thought.

Esther McVey is a Sun Libra (29), with a natal Mercury retrograde (within 3 days of station). I don’t see much at first glance without a birth time.

Sajid Javid has Venus/Neptune at 29 Scorpio, which will be hit by the Mercury station later in the year, around the scheduled Brexit time, so perhaps he’ll have a role in that. Venus/Neptune certainly suggests the matter of dissolving partnerships and contracts, Scorpio is financial merging/seperation/remerging and 29 is literally the brink.

BoJo has a Gemini Sun, Venus Rx and Venus at late degree, all the rage for leaders these days. Saturn is also stationed at 5 pisces in his natal. Interestingly, his Venus Rx is at 28 Pisces just like Penny Mordaunt’s natal Mercury station. Whether that’s indicative of some sort of shared fate I don’t know, but I don’t see it being activated this year.

Michael Gove is another natal Venus Rx at 8 Virgo. Natal venus retrograde goes one of 3 ways from what I’ve seen. Firstly the classic marriage and remarriage a la Ulrika Jonsson, but often there is a long marriage where either the relationship has a duality and the spouse is a business partner or somehow key to the career. The other way it can go is that the spouse has to stall their career or otherwise check themselves in some way in order for the Venus Rx natal to progress, otherwise the partner can very easily stall the progress of the natal. Gove’s wife is a Daily Mail columnist who has tripped him up previously with the expenses scandal. As a potential Prime Minister this would need a lot of consideration.

  3. I absolutely understand that you have to be an MP if you want to subsequently become PM, Jane. I’m pointing out that if a GE is called he may stand for election, along with hundreds of his ilk. In fact since I posted latterly that’s exactly what he’s saying he will do now.

  4. Is Amber Rudd undergoing her nodal return?

At the same time, transiting retrograde Saturn is on her South Node, and retrograde Jupiter is on her Moon, activating her natal Saturn and Jupiter as well.

Secondary-progressed Sun is on her Mars.

    • She’s very likely to lose her seat if another general election comes along, her majority in Hastings is only about 300 votes.

      • Thank you, Tara. I was also trying to remember why she quit. I think it had to do with the Windrush scandal, no? I might have been wrong about the Moon, since we don’t have her exact time of birth and the Moon moves about 12° in a day, so I spoke too soon.

  5. Shirley – to become Prime Minister you have to first have a seat in Parliament. Nigel Farage is not an MP, and has never been an MP. The Brexit Party is indeed already creating chaos, but currently it doesn’t have any MPs. Farage is an Aries, with Mars in Aries – I suspect he prefers a fight to the onerous and detailed task of running the country. I’m sure Marjorie has his details somewhere on this site. 326 MPs are needed to form a majority government, and I don’t believe the Brexit Party is in any way ready to field a large number of candidates in a general election, particularly if one is called soon.

    • I think the best word to describe Farage and hisBrexit party is ‘disruptor’ – they brought about the referendum and are responsible for the chaos this week. They are a ‘one hit wonder’ and don’t have a manifesto other than ensuring that Brexit happens. Apologies for lack of astrological content

  6. In a guilty pleasure sort of way, I’m quite happy having a Joker as Prime Minister.

I look forward to exploding cigarettes and itching powder at Number 10 Downing Street….

  7. Marjorie, what about David Davis please? He fancied the leadership when David Cameron won.

So do you think he’d run again please?

    Thanks

  8. The solar eclipse in July at 10 Cancer is pretty close to BJ’s tenth house cusp. He would be an unmitigated disaster for the country imo, a mendacious, devious, lazy, sordid, rascist , sexist, divisive clown whose primary skill in life is climbing the greasy pole on the back of privilege and a born to rule Bullingdon Club mindset. A Latin speaking Trump fuelled by naked ambition and Columbia’s finest. The Tory party is fu***d is the cheerful news, but it’s death throes run the risk of dragging the country down with it..

    • The Times helpfully compiled a list of past Tory leadership elections and only once in recent memory did the favourite win – Michael Howard.
1965: Favourite: Reginald Maudling. Winner: Edward Heath
1975: Favourites: Heath/Willie Whitelaw. Winner: Margaret Thatcher
1990: Favourite: Michael Heseltine. Winner: John Major
1997: Favourite: Ken Clarke. Winner: William Hague
2001: Favourite: Michael Portillo. Winner: Iain Duncan Smith
2005: Favourite: David Davis. Winner: David Cameron
2016: Favourite: Boris Johnson. Winner: Theresa May

    • When there is a general election eventually, wouldn’t it be really funny if Boris lost his Uxbridge & South Ruislip seat? Labour are really targeting his seat & Ian Duncan Smith’s Chingford seat, which is very vulnerable.

    • Pluto in the UK 1927 constitution chart is at 13 Cancer Conjunct Johnson’s MC.

Johnson’s natal Saturn is Conjunct Pluto in both the UK 1801 and the England 1066 chart.

I know a few Brexit supporters who would not trust Johnson further than they could throw him so I think his motives are questioned right across the political spectrum.

With regard to the Tory Party election Johnson’s problem is getting through the process whereby Tory MPs whittle down the list to a final two as he has quite a few enemies in the Parliamentary Conservative party. He did not make the cut last time. If he gets into the final round I think the Party membership will elect him. Whether he succeeds as leader is another matter. He has more friends and allies than the luckless Theresa May but also more people who regard him as poison.

  9. If they don’t choose Boris – but some grey milquetoast non-entity, which seems to be the way with the Tories – then they are bloody fools, who will most likely lose the next election and herald a full-on Corbyn government.
The Tories’ only hope of survival is to own a full WTO Brexit as their own. Nigel won’t allow them to do anything less. Boris, who is the WTO Brexit man, is the only serious contender. But fools will be fools and be prepared for a milquetoast/wimp whom nobody has ever heard of.
