Catherine Zeta Jones has hastened to defend her husband Michael Douglas over allegations of sexual harassment thirty years ago. A former employee has claimed that he used sexual language in front of her, including openly discussing extra-marital affairs, while she was running the firm’s New York office, and commented about her body; and allegedly masturbated in front of her during a one-on-one script meeting in his apartment. The last is certainly way across the line; but the rest of it? For heaven’s sake, it was showbusiness. Sexual banter went on all the time and in both directions across the genders. My recollection is that he came out publicly years ago saying he suffered from ‘sex addiction’ and went into rehab to be treated for it.
Whatever Mr and Mrs are saying, they are both alarmed at this turn of events. Both are early Sun Libras with Michael having Sun Uranus in Libra and Catherine Sun Neptune square Mars in Capricorn. All of these planets are being assaulted by tr Saturn, causing a considerable setback at the moment. And Saturn will return from July to November to repeat the discouraging mood. He’s also got tr Uranus moving to oppose his Venus in Libra this March for an emotional upset; and tr Pluto will continue to square his Mars for major frustrations in Sept and October this year. Plus he has tr Saturn moving through his 2nd house, the nadir of his first quadrant, which is often a psychologically trying time and certainly less successful.
Catherine has tr Uranus about to conjunct her IC in April, moving into her domestic 4th house for an unsettled few years ahead. It will put a strain on their relationship with tr Saturn square the composite Sun now and tr Uranus in a disruptive trine to the composite Pluto from July onwards. They did split a few years back for a brief time but came back together, since it’s a strong relationship with a composite Sun, Venus, Jupiter in an enduring trine to Saturn; and a tied-together Saturn square Pluto. Though there are volatile sides to their connection which will be triggered by this – especially with careers at stake.
I agree with Marjorie that these women who make false allegations, and it can be proved, should be named, shamed, and imprisoned. I also think there should be some kind of privacy clause within the media not to name and shame the accused until it absolutely needs to be out there. But, perhaps in cases like Weinstein maybe not. There are over 50 women accusing him and ALL have shockingly similar stories that allude to his kind of kink and disgusting behaviour – Without those stories and privacy, the #metoo movement wouldn’t have happened and I’m sure his money would have helped cover it up.
I do think there are women out there complaining about a situation they’ve had between a man that is not worthy of the #metoo cause and it’s infuriating. However, I do believe the vast majority of the cause is telling the truth about shocking violations, not just including rape. As mentioned in a previous post the stats in the USA alone is 1 in 6 women are raped/attempted rape, 1 in 32 (roughly) men are raped/attempted rape (and those are the ones that get reported), in US prisons male rape is higher than the female stats. Then there are the child sex abuse stats; 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys. From these stats we have more pedos walking around and raising families (the usual case) than rapists violating adults. In 99% of the cases the perpetrator is male. If those stats are the worst crime it’s not outside the realms of possibility that there are men doing things that are disturbingly inappropriate. The #metoo movement is exposing a lot of that. But those who have never been subjected to such things and are just jumping on the bandwagon for their desperate 5 minutes of narcissistic attention really need to be dealt with and made an example of – It’s bad enough women don’t get believed for the most part without these muppets making a mockery of the situation!
If MD was being offensive to the employee in the office, why did she go to his apartment? And why complain about it 30 years later?
Here here Marjorie! My heart goes out to all those (famous and otherwise) who are victims of sexual abuse and more; likewise I think that there will be countless other victims those who are wrongly accused and whose lives and careers will be ruined just because people are crying me too!
I am starting to think it is these powerful people who really did sexually assault and abuse others, who are drowning this #metoo whatever it is (movement?) with the most ridiculous stories of people claiming to be sexual assault and rape victims when they are not, or not even anywhere near like in this case.
I can only see this adding insult to injury of real victims of rape who are almost never actually heard on time, or who have to fight (despite of how dead they may feel on the inside) to be taken seriously, or to try and prove they are not attention seekers making up victimhood stories, thanks to all these sick in the head people claiming they are victims of something so vile, when they are not.
I can only imagine the struggle this ‘movement’ is now causing genuine rape victims in other professions in life who may have considered speaking up, but now won’t, due to how ridiculous this thing has gone…Aziz Ansari’s so called victim of a “bad date night and low self esteem really” is another of these stories…
Over 30 yrs ago? Even police don’t trust (or hadn’t traditionally placed much trust) in testimonies older than 24 hrs because of how the brain stores & retrieves memories. But someone here obviously has an axe to grind and bills to pay. IMO, the #metoo movement is taking on a life beyond what it should. Next we’ll be dealing with nose-pickers in high school from decades ago. “He was grosing me out!”
I recall a therapist I was having sessions with in the early 90’s lose everything and go to jail because his daughter was firmly convinced she was sexually abused by him…HER therapist was playing on her insecurities and planting false memories and conclusions. Eventually my therapist was cleared…but the damage was permanent. FWIW.
Agree Larry some of the #metoo claims are a touch snowflakey. But it would have to be pointed out, since I was in the middle of the whole hasty toxic Memory Wars of the 1990s, that many of those accused of child abuse used ‘false memory’ as a way of ducking allegations. The whole area is a swamp. Frankly I’d imprison those making false allegations of rape or abuse, if it could be so proved categorically. They do damage not just to the person they falsely accuse but to many others.
