American downhill skier Lindsey Vonn was airlifted to hospital in Switzerland on Friday after crashing in the final World Cup race before the Games. Despite her ligament injury she is still “very hopeful” she can compete at the Winter Olympics in on Sunday. Her belief in herself is unshakable. In her early career she won four World Cup overall championships – one of only two female skiers to do so and became the most successful American ski racer in history. She made a stunning comeback in 2024 after six years in retirement following a partial replacement of her right knee
