In a world filled with dread and suffering, the love life of Katy Perry seems a tawdry distraction. But the astrology is interesting as is her demonstrable lack of talent picking romantic partners, despite being one of Billboard’s greatest pop stars of the 21st century, having sold over 151 million records worldwide.

 Born 25 October 1984 7.58 am Santa Barbara, CA, she has an intense, determined and controlling Sun Pluto conjunct in Scorpio with her Mercury in Scorpio on her Ascendant and her Moon exactly conjunct Saturn also in Scorpio. Her parents evidently turned to strict religion after a ‘wild youth’ according to wiki so arguably not entirely stable. Her early childhood was disruptive, constantly on the move, with often not enough to eat.

 In addition to her resolute Scorpio stellium, she has three planets in adventurous Sagittarius with a Venus Uranus conjunction and Neptune there. Plus Jupiter conjunct Mars in Capricorn. An obsessively focused, single minded bundle chart, eastern hemisphere (left-handed) so not relationship oriented.  All that sits on the other side in her 7th house of one-to-one partnerships is her challenging North Node in Taurus conjunct the destructive Fixed stars Algol conjunct Chariklo – making it an area of her life she will struggle to fulfil.

 An early marriage to comedian (Gemini Sun Aries Moon) Russell Brand, 4 June 1975 12.07am Basildon, England, lasted barely a year. He has been diagnosed with ADHD and bipolar disorder, bulimia and pornography addiction so was  not an easy match.

 She – maybe – has moved onto Justin Trudeau, former Canadian PM, separated from his former wife since 2023, though there is some hint of it being a good photo opportunity rather than a long distance prospect.  Born 25 December 1971 9.27pm Ottawa, Canada, he has his Capricorn Sun conjunct Katy’s Jupiter for an upbeat connection; with his three Sagittarius planets including Jupiter sitting comfortably with her three. But he has no Scorpio planets so may find her intensity wearing. And his Saturn sits in her 7th house conjunct her Chariklo, Algol, North Node collection which hardly sounds like a recipe for harmony.

 Their relationship chart is equally replete with difficulties with a composite Mars opposition Saturn square Mercury which will be argumentative with communication blocks; and even less helpful would only work if one partner suppressed their needs and identity to make it work – which sounds unlikely on both sides. It will be rattled through the winter with tr Uranus opposing the composite Mercury; and an optimism-denting tr Saturn Neptune square the composite Jupiter.

 She does have her Progressed Moon just into her 7th house at the moment so will be yearning for a supportive partner. And his chart does have hints of a passionate moment or two through this year and next with tr Pluto conjunct his Venus in Aquarius but whether this one will last looks unlikely.

ADD ON:  Justin Trudeau’s parents – Prime Minister Pierre and ‘wild child’ Margaret had a 29 year age gap when they married, produced three children and divorced 13 years later. After their marriage disintegrated, she had affairs with Jack Nicholson, Ryan O’Neal, Lou Rawls, and a friendship with US Senator Ted Kennedy. She was also associated with members of the Rolling Stones, including Ronnie Wood, and Mick Jagger.

She subsequently married a real-estate developer and had two children with him.

 Pierre Trudeau was described as a “swinging young bachelor” when he became prime minister, reportedly dating Barbra Streisand. After his divorce from Justin’s mother he was  romantically involved with Margot Kidder (Lois Lane in Superman).

Pierre 18 October 1919 7.03am Outremont, PQ, Canada, had a Libra Sun on his Ascendant with a flashy (and showbizzy) Neptune, Jupiter, Moon in Leo in his 10th. His Moon opposed Uranus in his romantic 5th – so he would be inclined to play the field. His Venus in Virgo was conjunct Saturn which was conjunct Mars and sextile Pluto which would give him, in addition to a taste for hard work, an inclination for earthy encounters.

 Margaret Trudeau, 10 September 1948 1pm Vancouver, Canada, had a 10th house Virgo square square Jupiter Moon in Sagittarius so designed for a public lifestyle, enthusiastic and super-optimistic. Her Venus in Leo was in a ramped up square to Mars in Scorpio and she had a her 8th house Uranus opposition her Moon which would tend to make her act erratically especially in her emotional life.

 There is not much similar in Justin’s chart to either parent – except all three had Moon opposition Uranus. But obviously the effect of having two such parents would have an effect.

  3. Marjorie, thank you for looking at father Pierre’s chart, who had a much more powerful impact on Canadian history than his eldest son. Justin’s ten-year tenure can be seen as an extension of his father’s in some respects. He was certainly the guardian of his father’s major constitutiional legacy, which could not be reviewed while the son was in power. One striking thing about Carney is that he is weeding out Trudeau loyalists and signaling a more flexible and grown-up approach towards Québec, with less existential angst.

    Pierre Trudeau gave wife Margaret a black eye after her famous wild soiree with the Rolling Stones in Toronto. The tasteless joke on Saturday Night Live at the time was: « who hasn’t slept with Margaret Trudeau? » Due to her fragile emotional state, he got sole custody of their three sons while he was prime minister. The press mostly looked the other way. By all accounts, Pierre was a loving faher who shared with his sons his love of the great outdoors and skiing in the Rockies. He was an athletic prime minsiter. He sometimes took Justin, the princeling, on international state visits.

    Justin is adept at judo like his father, and on French-langauge television once showed how he could tumble down stairs harmlessly. He also became famous in a boxing match for charity as an aspiring politician, which as a lightweight he surprisingly won against a heavier but slower opponent. There were shades of his spectacular but driven father there. Justin of course has a Mars-Pluto opposotion.

    Pierre Trudeau was well-known in Québec before he became a household figure across Canada. He dated one of Québec theatre’s most beautiful and celebrated actresses. After his divorce, he had another child with a Toronto lawyer, so Justin has three half-siblings. Margaret was at his side when Pierre died.

    Justin took on his father’s showbizzy interests in diifierent ways. He was a theatre professor in British Columbia before entering poltiics. There was a photograph of him on stage weairing blackface. His state visit to India was an embarrassing disaster because he and his wife wore what they thought was traditional Indian garb as if they were play-acting. Justin also had a Sikh turban-wearing Defense minister. Canada’s relationship with India has not fully recovered to this day, but Carney is trying to repair it with a Foreign miniister of Indian origin, Anita Anand, who was seen a few days ago smiling in New Delhi and Beijing.

    Before entering politics, Justin also played the title role in a television series about a promising young man from another politiical dynasty who died in combat on Flanders field in WWI. When he became prime minister, Justin travelled to France in 2017 for the hundredth anniversary of the first significant victory of the Canadian Army overseas. He then stated that the Canadian nation was born on that battlefield, a curious statement meaning it was born a half-century after the country and iin France. That was a typically confused declaration from someone who now has both Saturn and Neptune transits in his 7th house, which not only ended his politiical career but also impaired his reputation.

    I think Canada’s Neptune in the first house in Aries also had something to do with him. Canada is undergoing its first Neptune return, which is brought in by the Saturn-Neptune conjunction. It may have to face painful realities, one of which is the unrealistic constitutional vision of the Trudeau father-and-son duo in the face of once-again rising Québec nationalism, which they made their central mission to defeat decisively but could only set back. In that sense, the Trudeaus, in my view, will increasingly be seen as historical failures who nonetheless achieved considerable liberal accomplishments, notably the Canadian Charter of Rights for the father and the extensive reinforcement of indigenous rights for the son.

    Pierre Trudeau was a Québec separatist and a contrarian in his youth who turned against his former friends. On that level, Justin was more consistent. The father, raised in a Jesuit private school, had brilliant intellectual pretensions and taught constitutional law in French at the University of Montreal. Justin was an undistinguished student at the English-language McGill Universoty in Montreal who made political connections there. Pierre was not only fluently bilingual, he was a highlly cultured master of both official languages who could quote Plato and T.S. Eliot, and comment on the best French wines. Justin’s French was imperfect and his interest in high culture almost absent. Pierre challenged De Gaulle and other French presidents’ relationships with Québec, but Justin got along well with Macron. A parallel between them is that they are the only two prime misnters to have invoked emergency legislation in peacetime, the father against Québec terrorists in 1970, the son against a MAGA-like uprisng in Ottawa.

    One final astrological note. Disaster in French is désastre. It means bad stars. I think they had good stars to a high degree but they were also fated. They were, and remain, Canada’s answer to the Kennedys.

    A few things jump out for me….. in addition to that interesting Moon/Uranus pattern!
    Both of Justin’s parents have a solid Leo signature… he has s. node in Leo.
    Pierre had Neptune on the MC, Justin on the IC.
    And Algol… which I am still learning about.. is strong with all three. Pierre’s conj s. node; Margaret conj Desc. and Justin conj. the MC.

  5. I had the same question as others on this topic–what makes Justin repeat his father’s life pattern, which can’t have been comfortable for him growing up? First he assumed his father’s job as prime minister. Now he’s swanning around with a music star, 13 years younger than himself. What is it in a chart that compels a person to repeat parents’ lives? Justin is drawn to both romance and marriage, 5th and 7th houses. Seems as though he’d really like something different than what he’s stepping into?

Uranus is one which gets shocking partners and 4 number born r said to have partners who look odd with them as couple yet I have seen 4 number which also represents uranus having partners who look in sync with them though unconventional aspects remain but nothing shocking or weird to look but in her case, north node Known as rahu the beheaded head of demon rahu who causes eclipse and hence has multiple partners due to demonic instability tendency n like eclipse it’s there for certain period as attraction n obsession particularly then like bubbles it all evaporates n back to search for another bubble.
    Venus is women and with uranus it’s changing as uranus is unstable.   7. Much like JFK with Marilyn and his father with Gloria Swanson, Justin is reliving his father’s fantasies. I remember seeing Barbra Streisand wearing white fur and clutching the arm of his father Pierre, while he was Canadian PM, at a political fete in Ottawa in 1970. It didn’t last and Justin was born 18 months later.

    I enjoyed Jimmy Kimmel’s joke on this short-lived passion: « Now we see Canada taking revenge for the tariff war. They not only take our women, they take our astronauts.»

    From a Canadian perspective, this would be typical of our starry-eyed and thankfully former prime minister.

    • Certainly heart break for many whose eye candy is Justin. Doesn’t seem so in pics but the effect on women around ensures he must be charming in person.
      Marjorie had done comparison with his father when he was having divorce. How things turn out similarly in generations ..choice or destiny ?

    • I am fascinated with these generational repetitive patterns and how exact they can be. A karmic? thread that MUST be explored and resolved in new ways it seems.

      One friend did everything she could to protect her daughter from sexual abuse, which my friend had experienced. And STILL, it happened. Another friend’s grandfather was severely injured forcing my friend’s father to quit school and work as a young teen. At 14, my friend’s father was severely injured at work and the same dynamic happened!… he had to become the responsible one in the family as a young teen.

      With Justin’s south node in Leo (royalty), Saturn on MC opp Neptune on IC (a position of authority but illusory… also that Neptune makes it easy for others to project what they will onto him)…. north node and Venus in the 5th (ahhh romance! hedonism!). We shall see how Justin navigates this repetitive theme!

      • At times I don’t know if I should apologise to my mom n mine or myself…saturn and large planets i have found r ones repeated in clans. Mercury kind also just move over another nearby house in next generation or offspring. But genders and sun sign make all the difference.
        We get placements from both parents as genes and the funny part is parents trying to teach their favorites their skills as they see themselves in them and suddenly those skills come out in not their favorite and not trained while the own trained one fails in them publicly.
        I have relatives who hated their parents yet today r living same life as their parents. I did all to not end up like my mom and yet, not just the face but now life too.
