Jo Swinson & Lib Dems – not much instant cheer

In the febrile swamp of UK politics the Liberal Democrats are deemed to be in a better position than usual being the anti-Brexit Party and able to attract disaffected right and left votes. But there’s not much that’s cheerful in the immediate future on their astrology.

Jo Swinson, 5 February 1980, was elected as new leader on 22 July 2019 at 5.25 pm (I think) in London and is a Sun Aquarius trine Pluto with an idealistic Neptune on the focal point of a T Square to Venus in Pisces opposition a hard-working Saturn in Virgo. She has tr Neptune square her Sun/Pluto in 2019/2020 which is not supportive vocationally; and there’s worse in 2020/21 with tr Neptune opposition her Mars/Saturn midpoint. Although she will get some uplift from tr Uranus trine her Jupiter from May 2020, on and off into 2021. But she’s running into a further a setback from Solar Arc Sun opposition her Saturn in 2020/21. Where she gets her best chance of major success will be around 2023 when her Solar Arc Jupiter is conjunct her Pluto.

The Lib Dem chart, 3 March 1988, is devastated in 2021 with Solar Arc Neptune square Pluto; but it also flags up 2022/23 as hopeful years with tr Pluto square the Jupiter. However as a caveat there’s also a Solar Arc Mars square Pluto in 2023 which is very trapped. So some ups, alongside some downs.

PS Jo Swinson was born in Glasgow so there must be a birth time around. Grateful if anyone has it.

  1. Looking at the Lib Dem chart or party charts in general, how significant is the time of launch? I am pretty sure I am correct in recalling that Social and Liberal Democrats were launched at a press conference that day which began no later than 10am. I would have thought the ascendant would be quite important for political parties whose fortunes depend so much on how they are seen in the world. Interested to know what others think.

    • Thank you for the info. It’s an interesting idea to look at the ascendant, times leading up to 10am give an ascendant of 9-10 Gemini. This puts some major fixed stars on the asc/des axis; Aldebaran, “The Bulls Eye” and Antares, “The Heart of the Scorpion”. Significantly it would also tie in the Sun/Moon midpoint at 11 Gemini

The time you give also puts the Venus/Jupiter conjunction in late Aries in the 12th house – rash partnerships and overblown promises and commitments in the house of self-undoing? This is going to see some major transit activity again from Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter.

For party charts I would think that Mercury (the message and brand), the Moon and the Nodes would be important. Mercury is in rebellious Aquarius and in the 10th house with this time. The only major aspect it receives is a square from a very powerful Pluto in Scorpio. It could be the damage to the reputation from seeming ruthless in the pursuit of power? The Saturn/Uranus conjunction is right on the Mercury/Pluto midpoint and was under considerable transit stress about 9 or 10 years ago.

The Mercury/Moon midpoint at 28 Scorpio was touched by the 2016 Brexit referendum Mars station and will be hit again by the Oct 31 Mercury station.

That’s all for a quick glance. Many other factors including the party launching at the start of a lunar eclipse, major Neptune transit and Venus station coming to the NN. Thanks again

  2. I was going to ask if you knew any Scottish astrologers who might have found out her birth time. Yvette Cooper also, born in Inverness.

There’s enough activity from Neptune and the Venus station on the her chart and the Lib Dems to make me wonder about a coalition, merger or absorption of another faction or party. Things are looking more fluid on that side of the house.
