Mojtaba Khamenei has been named successor in Iran despite him having little theological background and reservations about the Leadership being handed down the family line.
Born 8 September 1969 Teheran (wiki), if accurate, makes him a Sun Virgo conjunct Pluto square Mars in Sagittarius – not dissimilar to Hassan Nasrullah, the former Hezbollah chief, assassinated in 2024, born 31 August 1960.
On this data he looks undermined late March to late April and at considerable risk late April to mid May. Bu there is no birth time and I would not necessarily trust wiki birth dates.
The survival of Iran and continued resistance in some form with strongmen still in charge will depend on the IRGC (Revolutionary Guard) 5 May 1979. While under stress there is nothing much to suggest a total collapse, nor indeed does the Iran Islamic Republic chart from 1979 look like overturning in the near future.
Trump’s relationship with the new Iranian leader Mojtaba Khamenei (assuming data and his continued existence) does not look half as stressful as Trump’s with Starmer or Pedro Sanchez. Trump also seems more relaxed with the IRGC, a touch more distrustful but he has a penchant for dictators and bullies.

Trump and Putin have a relationship based on control which together can make them influential but if it turns inward can set up a real tussle. There is a sense of a possible one-up-manship battle through this year, more visibly August to late December with tr Pluto opposition the Jupiter. Plus the August Solar Eclipse will conjunct their composite Sun Pluto conjunction which will certainly stress test it in the extreme. There are serious tensions showing on the midpoints before then from now onwards with panic and upheavals right through and worsening mid year onwards especially August. Whether Putin spills any Kompromat it does not say and Putin will be fighting for his own survival in trying economic times. But they will not be singing off the same page for sure.
The Trump Organization, 27 July 1999, with hotels and golf courses in various global locales could be under threat from terrorist activity amongst other pressures. Pictures of DJT at a Christian ‘prayer breakfast’ were in the papers a couple of days ago, while there are reports of US military commanders referencing Jesus when exhorting their troops. Not sure about religious themes in Israel, but I believe some welcome the idea of some kind of religious apocalypse. Neptune entering Aries might symbolise a religious warrior, plus Neptune rules oil, and is connected to shipping.
Looking at Pope Urban’s call for the First Crusade in 27 November 1095 is interesting. It was called to reclaim the Holy Land, ie Palestine, from Muslim control. The Crusade then departed to fight on 15 August, 1096. There are numerous astrological resonances with current times, not least the subtle link with November 1095’s Nodes in early ‘religious or sacrificial’ Pisces, and Chiron in Aries. Then the recent Lunar Eclipse, for example, 12 Virgo, aligns with Saturn in Virgo for both the November and August Crusade dates, and the IRGC’s Virgo Nodes.

Uranus was 21 Aries (JC) in November 1095, square a religious Jupiter at 22 Capricorn. Curious then to see the IRGC warrior Mars at 21 Aries opposing Pluto 17 Libra, and the Trump/Putin Nodes 20 Aries. The Crusades August date has Mars at 18 Libra, opposing Chiron 18 Aries. Well observed, Jane. I was just last night reading about the disastrous’Children’s Crusade’ of the early 13th century. It’s extraordinary to our science-based worldview, in terms of the firm belief, zeal and absolute certainty of the 40,000 people who joined the First Crusade of 1096, that the Apocalypse was imminent and that the crusades were ordained by God, to kill Muslims in Jesus’s name. Fuelled by millenarianism, they believed that by conquering Jerusalem, Christ would return to earth and rule over a thousand year period. These fantasies have never gone away and are currently alive and well in some of the more extreme American Evangelical movements.
Minister of War, Pete Hegseth is covered in tattoos referencing the Crusades of the European Middle Ages. In fact, as you say he used such ‘holy war’ rhetoric when addressing the military last week, which is unhinged and the military have raised concerns about this address. Interesting then that the recent lunar eclipse you mentioned which was at 12 Virgo was on the same degree as that of Hegseth’s Mars.
Hegseth also has Saturn in Virgo conjunct his Mars.

I’ve also been musing on the symbolism of the lion and the Sun, since it connects Iranian history and this August’s Leo Solar Eclipse, which Marjorie writes will ‘stress test’ Trump and Putin’s composite Sun/Pluto. There’s an interesting Wiki called Lion and Sun on the long history of the symbol. It includes:

Albumasar was a great Persian astrologer, based in Baghdad.

Just to add – August’s Solar Eclipse is 20 Leo. Hegseth’s Nodes are 22 Leo. Trump and Hegseth’s composite, which Marjorie posted last year, has Saturn 22 Leo. 1096’s Jupiter is 21 Aquarius. 1095’s Mars is 23 Leo.
The Trump/Hegseth composite Pluto is 14 Virgo, aligning with Hegseth’s natal Mars 12 Virgo, and that Lunar Eclipse in February. 1096’s Saturn is 12 Virgo. These square the 10 Sagittarius Sun for Pope Urban’s November 1095 call for a Crusade, which happens to be Hegseth’s natal Ascendant.
And on it goes. The historical resonances are there, the fantasies appear to be blooming on all sides. I can only hope someone, somewhere, learns something this time around. Nobody involved appears to have evolved or matured since the Middle Ages!!
It made sense to the people in 1095 who were all Catholics at that time, living in Christ countries. It was their duty to serve God. Beliefs at the time of the Crusades was that Jesus had been around since the beginning of time, O- AD – a thousand years or more. Given many thought the Earth was flat and life really did begin then. Their thinking was that Jesus was the Son of God and it was their duty to defend him. In their view they found any new Messiah a sworn enemy!
Indeed and of course the Church was everything to the people of the European Middle Ages. It provided everything, welfare, relief for the poor, care for the sick. It was the people’s Mother Church and they were heavily invested in defending it. Plus the arrival of the year 1000 meant that many were awaiting Christ’s return.
Initially the Crusades’s aim was to provide safe passage for pilgrims travelling to Jerusalem from attacks by the Turks and others. I believe the Catholic Church has condemned the 4th crusade of the early 13th century not least for the sacking of Zara and Constantinople, the looting of Christian churches there and attacks on fellow Christians. When the Pope learned of this, he was incensed, accusing the Crusaders of “preferring earthly to heavenly riches”. Moreover these atrocities created a schism between the Eastern Orthodox and the Western Catholic Churches.
As with all these historical events, there is nuance on all sides. It’s hard to judge the people of the Middle ages by our own, modern experience. We can only use our imagination and empathy to even attempt to understand the mindset of those times.
My sleepy eyes misread Minister of War for Monster of War

Thank you, very informative Debbie. He puts it much better than I can but yes, extreme eschatological fantasies exist within all three sides of this conflict. When ISIS were on the rise in the 2000s, you saw a similar trajectory of young people who, fuelled by online extremist promises of an Islamic-ruled golden age and encouraged to feel alienated and rootless in their adopted nations were drawn to a similar end-of-times scenario, a glorious Caliphate which would restore pure Islamic rule and justice.
These chiliastic Christian movements believe that only when every one of the Jewish diaspora has returned to Jerusalem (Kibbutz Galuyot) will the Messiah return, thus they are ardent supporters of the ‘Law of Return’ and the settler policy. In these fantasies, a Messiah descended from the House of David rules over the golden, Messianic Age, the Temple is rebuilt, the dead resurrected and judged. Christian eschatology feeds into this narrative, but tells us that ultimately-every Jewish citizen will be converted to Christianity. Biblical prophets such as Isaiah, Ezekiel as well as the Book of Daniel are the sources for these predictions.
Norman Cohn in his ‘Pursuit of the Millennium’ explored the history of these movements in Europe and proposes the idea that these prophetic movements tend to emerge during periods of immense change, social upheaval such as famine or plague and thrive among the rootless poor, desperately hoping and longing for better times.

Nor did I realise, when looking at the recent Lunar Eclipse and the astrology of the Crusades, how much a total lunar eclipse falling on significant dates is part of the whole idealogical religious narrative. I knew that February’s Solar Eclipse fell at the start of both Lent and Ramadan – both religious dates calculated using the phases of the Moon. With the total March Lunar Eclipse visible in Israel and across the Middle East, it gains added significance in a symbolic way for those who follow beliefs about the ‘Blood Moon’, various Bible verses, and so on.

A deep partial, but near total, Lunar Eclipse at 4-5 Pisces, opposing Mercury and square Uranus in Gemini happens on 28 August this year. It is again visible across the Middle East. Just checking the charts Marjorie has posted here, I notice it will energise Trump/Putin, the IRGC/Trump charts amongst others. As the US approaches its Uranus in Gemini return next year, that eclipse could be setting the scene or sowing seeds in some way.
Thanks Jane, I must have missed your post. Magical thinking seems to increase when times are uncertain. On a lighter note – remember the Millennium bug? The rumours and speculation reached quite bizarre proportions, even a kind of end times mentality as the press did their part in whipping up public anxiety.
Interesting that today the Pope has issued a forceful condemnation of the war, with a rebuke to Hegseth and his Crusade rhetoric:
“Some even go so far as to invoke the name of God to justify these choices of death, but God cannot be enlisted by darkness. Rather, He always comes to bring light, hope and peace to humanity.”
Looking at Motjaba birth chart, he has some interesting aspects though without a birth time it is not easy to predict his actual destiny. He has Jupiter, Uranus and Part of Fortune in Libra suggesting he is a lucky person, but with transiting Saturn in Aries he must watch his back. He also has Neptune in Scorpio meaning you can’t fool him easily, he is very insightful. He also has his Moon and Venus in Leo of fame, though some media outlets say he is secretive and has never taken any interview, but his Leo stars suggest he will be famous at some point in his life. Jupiter will move in Leo from July 30 this year, suggesting more confidence and happiness in his life, that’s if he survives Israel and US attacks by then. Transiting Pluto is still early in Aquarius meaning that US and Israel might find it difficult to eliminate him, that remains to be seen.
In my experience of astrology, looking at his late father’s birth chart, he probably has his ascendant in Aries or Pisces, but without a birth time it is not easy to say. On Trump’s side, this war was a mistake, oil prices are rising uncontrollably and he doesn’t even know how he is he going to stop this war. Higher oil prices mean high inflation and it will result it the Fed being forced to increase interest rates, which is something he doesn’t want. I was watching his news conference last night, he was contradicting himself, he looked confused. Trump didn’t think of the consequences of this war, he and Netanyahu underestimated it. Russia is also helping Iran with intelligence, who knows maybe with weapons. On the other side Russia is benefiting from higher oil prices, Trump is actually giving Russia an ammunition to attack Ukraine even more, because now Russia is making money. Everything in Trump’s Presidency is a mess. All his actions always boomerang and hit him, just like his global tariffs.
According to reports, IRGC says they will decide when this war ends, not Trump. Their main reason of attacking neighbours oil installations is actually to put more pressure on US economy. The Trump administration is panicking with higher gas prices, and with midterms around the corner. Virgo people are good at solving problems and difficult situations, Motjaba with his Neptune in Scorpio might be able to resolve this tension with neighbours and the US, but I doubt Trump will listen, he doesn’t listen to anyone he is always right, his viewpoint stands.
Looks like Trump has already given in by declaring his version of ‘mission accomplished’, after having just demanded ‘unconditional surrender’. One of the few realities which can force him to back down is the market, esp oil prices. And that tankers don’t want to risk their crew and cargo in the middle of a war zone.
“I think the war is very complete, pretty much. They have no navy, no communications, they’ve got no Air Force.” If that’s what it takes for him to save face and leave the world alone, let’s hope that’s the worst of it.
Of course this could change by tomorrow.

It’s getting harder for Russia to export their oil with Ukraine attacking critical nodes of the Druzhba oil pipeline network. It caught fire at a key Transneft oil hub. There’s been similar strikes in Bryansk and Tambov.
The oil that would have been sent to Hungary and Slovakia. Hungary has retailed by seizing two Ukrainian cash transport vehicles with $40M, $35M euros, and 9KG gold and detain seven Oshchadbank staff. They were transporting the money and gold between banks in Ukraine and Austria.
Orban’s party MP submits bill to keep seized Oshchadbank cash and valuables under arrest. The Oshchadbank employees have been released.
Now Slovakian Prime Minister Fico has said that he will take over the block the €90 Billion in loans from the European Union if oil supplies from the Druzhba pipeline are not restored.
We definitely live in interesting times.
