Giorgia Meloni – Mars in full flight ++ Francesca Albanese

Giorgia Meloni, the Italian Prime Minister, known as the enfant terrible of the European Right and ‘Mussolini in high heels’, much feted by Donald Trump, has managed against all expectations to stay in power for three years. No mean feat given her country’s carnival politics – 69 governments in power over the past 79 years.

An English translation of her  memoir ‘I Am Giorgia’ runs through her early life relating the tale of her mother amidst money worries and a failing marriage, planning to abort her but changing her mind outside the clinic. She maintains she was an outsider from a young age with a father who abandoned her when she was a year old and a grandmother scarred by wartime food shortages, overfed her, making her a target for bullies at school who nicknamed her “Fatso”.  Her father, a communist-sympathising tax official is credited by her with instilling her  combative spirit and steeliness of nature because of his lack of love.

Her unlikely rise in popularity from the fringe hard-right was helped along the way as two DJs released a satirical dance video intended to poke fun at politicians which featured her railing against identity politics. “They want to call us parent 1, parent 2, gender LGBT, citizen X, with code numbers. But I am Giorgia. I am a woman. I am a mother. I am Italian. I am Christian!” Suddenly she was an unexpected pop phenomenon.

Once seen as the unacceptable face of the Right she is now charming European leaders with a mix of humour and bluntness and has a good working relationship with Ursula von der Leyen. Her successful immigration clampdown on Mediterranean trafficking boats won praise from Keir Starmer. And she’s regarded as one of Europe’s top Trump Whisperers.

Born 15 January 1977 6.30pm Rome, Italy, she has a hard-working 6th house Capricorn Sun trine a lucky, successful Jupiter in Taurus in her 10th. But what is most noticeable is a heavily aspected Mars in Capricorn in her entertaining 5th house conjunct Mercury which sits midway between a Venus in Pisces trine Uranus, and is thus sextile both, square Pluto and inconjunct Saturn in Leo on her Ascendant. So she is not  short on dynamic drive, direct speaking and ruthlessness.

She also has a yod of Saturn sextile Pluto inconjunct an 8th house Venus in Pisces which fits with her start in life feeling out of place in ordinary situations but giving her ultimately the ability to push forward with a singular goal affecting society.

Her Term chart 22 October 2022 9.30am Rome, has an equally strong Mars (in the 8th) square a Libra Sun Venus, inconjunct Pluto and square Neptune Jupiter – so a pro-active administration.

What intrigues me are the father relationships of other female world leaders. All of the below have emphasised Mars giving them courage and drive.

Indira Gandhi to a degree like Meloni had an unhappy childhood with her politician father Nehru often away or in prison. Her Mars in Virgo was on the focal point of a Mutable T Square to a Jupiter opposition Mercury, with her Mars also trine Venus and sextile Pluto.

Golda Meir had a scary childhood in Ukraine with a pogrom brewing and the family moved to the US when she was 3. Her Mars was trine Saturn, sextile Pluto Venus.

Maggie Thatcher idolized her father and perhaps tried to emulate his domineering tactics with her Mars in Libra on the focal point of a Cardinal T square to Jupiter opposition Pluto.

Ursula von der Leyen had a European civil servant father and her chart has (like Meloni and Thatcher) a Mars square Pluto with her Mars also trine Venus and inconjunct Neptune Jupiter in Scorpio. Ultra-determined, charming, over hopeful.

Meloni and Trump have an odd relationship chart with a composite Jupiter Saturn conjunction which will be under pressure from tr Pluto in opposition in 2026/27. In itself it can be the sign of a steady bond that lasts over time. But transformational Pluto bearing down won’t make it easy. Even before then from November through to April 2026 tr Uranus will square the composite Uranus for upheavals and turmoil; plus tr Pluto will continue to square the composite Mars through 2025/2026 for frustrations and possibly diverging objectives.

ADD ON: Francesca Albanese, 30 March 1977 Italy, the fiery UN rapporteur for the Palestinian territories is a controversial and divisive figure. The USA has sanctioned her for her anti-Israel stance while she is a leading light in an upcoming Colombia conference which includes Qatar, Spain and China which aims to progress the implementation of a UN general assembly motion demanding an end to the occupation of Palestine.

She has been accused of anti-Semitism and support for Hamas but is feted by Left-wingers.  On October 7, the day of the Hamas attacks in Israel, she tweeted: “Today’s violence must be put in context.” A year earlier she said that “Palestinians have no other room for dissent than violence”.

She has a pro-active Aries Sun in an intense and controlling opposition to Pluto. More significantly she has a tough-minded Saturn in wannabe-important Leo (and Moon) sextile Pluto inconjunct Mars in Pisces. A yod apex Mars, even in softer Pisces, is headstrong, overly assertive, can be self-defeating, rash, disruptive and courageous. Her Mars is also in a publicity-attracting square to Neptune and an excitable trine to Uranus. A force to be reckoned with.

  1. Francesca Albanese’s fashion style which is bold and dramatic fits very well with her fiery chart. She does appear to be a fearless fighter so the fire emphasis is not surprising and the focal Mars in Pisces could indicate a willingness to fight for the oppressed and vulnerable.

Her chart really intersects with Israel’s chart: mean BML conjunct a final degree Jupiter (justice, ethics, law) in Taurus which picks up Israel’s Sun in Taurus square Mars in Leo. Her nodes conjunct Israel’s Libra Asc / Aries Des. Her Moon Saturn in Leo picks up Israel’s Moon Pluto Saturn. And she’s not backing down.

  2. Some say that Mussolini was charming too. It didn’t spare him or his mistress from becoming town square ornaments in the end, once his regime was toppled.

A bit tired of these right wing zealots. Seems we would have learned our lesson once before, but most of those who lived through the first half of the 20th century are now dead or dying. It seems the world is again flirting with disastrous old ideas, and people like Meloni who wish to make them fashionable again.

    • Funny.I’m really tired of left wing zealots and their quest for undermining institutions, pushing gender affirmation surgeries writ large-insane trans ideology, destroying women’s and girls rights.Drag queens in fetish gear everywhere one turns-at zoo’s,libraries, schools sanctioned by BBC and labour .Hard-line attacks on freedom of speech.Allowing gang rapes of Uk’s girls and women for decades and protecting the perps.
      Niether “side” is great.

      • Are you making assumptions, Antonia? Please note that I never said which side I was on.

I don’t care for extremists or their ideologies on either far end of the political spectrum. I believe in a far more pragmatic, grounded approach forward, which is probably consistent with the heavy earth emphasis in my natal chart, though I am not mindlessly “conservative” by any means, nor do I consider myself a liberal.

And for the record, it was far right fascism that nearly brought the world to its knees in WWII. Anyone like Meloni, or the sycophants who have propped up Trump in the hopes of sane washing that horrific, ghastly legacy that laid waste to an entire continent and buried millions needs to get a grip on reality.

        • I don’t believe I assigned a position of you being on the left.
Though ,I was commenting on zealotry on the left.
It gets tiring hearing posters(and media and the public ) having a bias and wide -berth criticism exclusively against the “right-wing” when the left is equally disturbed.

  3. Another controversial and unbudging Italian – I’m not sure if you wrote about her – is the former war-crimes prosecutor in The Hague, Carla del Ponte.

  4. Thanks Marjorie if you get the chance please look at the equally formidable and brilliant Italian woman Francesca Albanese 30.3.77

  5. Saturn RETROGRADE gives absent or missing father. Both Gandhi and Meloni have
Saturn RETROGRADE. Forumites, look at your own chart…..was Saturn retrograde?

    • I have Saturn retrograde and an absent father. I have no memories whatsoever of my father or any photos of me with him even though he was with my mum until I was 4. I remember other people from that period of my life but not him!

    • Direct as in lineage…me only female gender changed nothing as my mother yesterday reiterated family lineage. My grandfather’s both sides had father departed as soon as they could grow out of toddler life and so did their fathers. My father had an absent or father who disliked him due to complexion out of lineage which he did to me out of hatred for his father whose pet I was …can’t say if absent is better than present but hating but as leo tolstoy said,” an orphan is luckier than a child whose parents ignore him whole life openly

    • interesting … Mine wasn’t absent in my youth, but due to circumstances became increasingly distant with time. My Saturn Rx is conjunct a Jupiter Rx, don’t know if that changes anything.

  6. Meloni is a fascinating character indeed, and perhaps that Venus in Pisces square Neptune is able to charm almost anyone? Photos of her with various leaders have amused me, seeing how they all seem to melt a little in her presence, and laugh at her jokes!

I noticed her Neptune in Sagittarius aligns with Ras Algethi, the alpha star of Hercules. Of interest:

“The head of the kneeling Hercules”, possesses a character of Mars-Venus with a slight blend of Mercury. If in good aspect, it is supposed to give much enjoyment and favors from women. However, if unconnected with helpful planets, it is said to cause much irritation, especially in connection with the female sex. But, by its very Mars nature, Ras Algethi corresponds to boldness and a drive to gain power. [Fixed Stars and Their Interpretation, Elsbeth Ebertin, 1928, p.72.]

Possibly someone so apparently sure of her beliefs is also attractive to both voters and political associates? Not always a good thing of course, naming no names, but in a world of changeable politicians it may add to her charisma?
