La France born on Pluto in Aquarius with an added splash of Uranus is grandstanding the downside of Fixed, egalitarian, Airy Aquarius. As one commentator pointed out, France has never developed a culture of compromise. An angry ideological push for ever more generous spending pledges, despite stark warnings about the national debt flies in the face of common sense.
Veteran journalist Eric Brunet said after viewing the fractious debate which toppled Prime Minister Barnier, “What we have just seen is jaw-droppingly French. No pragmatism. Just ideology. All the speeches were about values, about extremes. Our whole discourse is disconnected from reality. It is typically, singularly French.” Predictions are that this process will be repeated several times over before daylight sinks in. Which fits the previous post with tr Neptune opposing the France Virgo Sun until early 2026.
What makes France’s chart even more intransigent is the Uranus opposition Pluto in Aquarius square Mars in Scorpio which creates a determination to die at the barricades before surrender. Stirring stuff for movies, less helpful for balancing the economic books.
The EU’s two power horses are now both in trouble with Germany being elbowed into a snap general election in February after its bickering coalition government recently collapsed.
Key points from earlier posts. The EU 31 December 1957 chart has a deadlocked Solar Arc Pluto opposition its 8th house economic Moon and square its Uranus later in 2025. With an upending, disruptive tr Uranus square Pluto in 2026/27. Though the catastrophic perhaps terminal problems come later this decade as tr Pluto squares the EU Moon and opposes the Pluto. This is when the 2004 enlargement countries of Czechia, Estonia, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Slovenia and Slovakia may consider a breakaway as their entry chart also has a 10 degree Taurus Sun.
The Maastricht Treaty chart, 1 November 1993 12 am, is seriously rattled at the moment till April 2025 with tr Uranus conjunct the Taurus Moon, opposing the Mars Pluto in Scorpio and square Saturn which will see a considerable crisis. But again its moment of greatest jeopardy will be later in this decade.

Marjorie, the sudden, chilling and horrific death (Pluto) of a Healthcare boss in New York this week could be connected to health care insurance injustice, after bullet casings were reportedly found at the scene with the words: Delay, Deny, Defend. I am wondering if this could be the start of healthcare reform (Aquarius) in the USA.
On D-Day the story is the soldiers were saying, LaFayette I have returned. You would love the 4 Generals in LaFayette Park in front of the White House. Washington DC was designed by L’Enfant.
Great write up.
A most interesting post. France shares a Scorpio Ascendant with the US in my view, which accounts for ferocious French imperialism and the predatory nature of American capitalism, as well as the importance of the Eagle in each country’s symbolism. Napoleon’s son was called l’Aiglon (the Eaglet). George Washington would never have won his decisive battle against the British at Yorktown, Virginia, in 1781 (the year Uranus was discovered) without the help of the French, their artillery in particular. French cannons were the best in the world then, as they are now, judging by the quality of the current ones called Caesar much sought by Ukraine. Those cannons of 1781 would later make Napoleon’s fame all over Europe. When he received his officer’s commission signed by Louis XVI, Napoleon was an artillery captain. When Washington became President in 1789, he received from Lafayette, the man whose name is on the most American towns, the keys to the Bastille which had been stormed months earlier. The fates of France and the US are still intertwined. Louisville,Kentucky, bears Louis XVI’s name, Louisiana Louis XIV’s, and Saint Louis is the only French king who was sainted by the Catholic Church. The Spirit of Saint Louis united the US and France during Lindbergh’s flight and of course the Statue of Liberty is French.
The independence of the US was also France’s revenge for the loss of Canada twenty years earlier. The young and dashing Marquis de Lafayette, Washington’s deputy, right-hand man, liaison with the French government, providential aid and nearly adopted son, wanted to take Canada back. It didn’t happen because the British, learning from their mistakes, made just the right concessions to the French Canadians in the Quebec Act of 1774 to convince them they would not suffer the fate of the Irish and to remain neutral.
The charts of the US and France will join much more ominously in coming years. Pluto is now slowly wending its way to a conjunction with the US Moon while Uranus just as slowly will oppose it in less than twenty years. That is of course the configuration of the French Revolution. The actual opposition between them will not take place before Pluto and Uranus have reached the early degrees of Pisces and Virgo, but the explosive damage to the political system will be quite considerable. Fortunately, it will be in mutable signs which should make it less bloody. The presence of Uranus ensures it will be greatly surprising and a victory for the left after a likely extended period of far-right authoritarian rule.
Andre, your history lessons in invaluable additions to Marjorie’s! I especially appreciate your inclusion of Canada’s part in related history!
