The EU is facing a troubled few years ahead with dashed hopes on the financial front, underhand secrets and dirty dealings exploding into the open, and severe perhaps existential challenges at the end of the decade.
On the 31 December 1957 11pm Brussels chart, tr Pluto will square the 2nd house Neptune through 2026/27 which will bring confusion, indecision and uncertainty – maybe even scandals since the EU Jupiter is conjunct the Neptune. In 2026 as well the Solar Arc Sun will square Saturn for a discouraging mood and setbacks.
Tr Uranus will start to square the 12th house Pluto from June 2026 on and off till April 2027 which will bring an upheaval and make obvious the necessity for radical change both in transparency issues, decision-making and in communication. Tr Uranus continues on in 2027 to oppose the 3rd house Mars in Sagittarius which will bring jolts, jangles, high insecurity, perhaps disruptions to communications and travel and the likelihood of impulsive over-reactions.
There will then be tremendous pressures financially and in terms of future direction by 2029/30 with tr Pluto opposition the 11th house Uranus and square the 8th house Moon. And an undermining tr Neptune square the Sun in 2029/30.
The Maastricht Treaty chart, 1 November 1993 12 am Brussels, with different aspects is not much smoother ahead with sudden changes of direction due to tr Uranus conjunct the Solar Arc Midheaven from July 2026 into 2027. The Solar Arc Uranus Neptune will square the Mars Pluto and Moon in 2028/29 which will be a life changing crisis. Plus tr Pluto square the Sun in 2028/29. If it holds together it will be an entirely different entity altogether by 2030.
The 2004 enlargement 1 May 2004, which brought in largely east European countries – the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia – and Cyprus, will be under heavy pressure late decade with tr Pluto square the 10 degree Taurus Sun following on from the panic and uncertain tr Neptune square the Saturn just before.
Both EU charts above show anxiety ahead vis a vis Nato with setbacks, dither and divisions this year on the Maastricht/Nato relationship chart with tr Saturn Neptune opposition the Sun Pluto and tr Uranus opposition the Saturn Neptune. The 1957 EU/Nato relationship will be under considerable pressure and challenges for change with tr Pluto square the Sun this year and next.
What is striking is that USA relations with both EU charts are in essence cemented together and though showing some strain increasing towards late decade, they will not be as bad as the EU/Trump chemistry. He will be displaying his standard histrionics towards Europe this year and on.
The Maastricht chart (1 Nov 1993) works really well. On the day of the Brexit ref (23 June 2016), tr Mars was at 23 Scorpio. It was conj the natal Mars-Pluto, opposite the natal Moon and square the natal Saturn. When polls opened that day tr Moon was at 22 Aquarius.
(The UK’s 1801 astrology chart has Saturn at 23 Leo, and Neptune at 18 Scorpio, so it forms a grand cross when combined with the Maastricht T-square. When that Neptune got activated, of course things dissolved).
The Ukraine war which so destabalised the EU’s economy, started (24 Feb 2022) when the malific south node was at 26 Scorpio, and tr Saturn was at 18 Aquarius (so it was close to the Maastricht saturn return).
So that natal T-square is key. Tr Saturn in Taurus in 2030 approaching the Moon, and tr Pluto in 2039 approaching the natal Saturn, will be the unpleasant bits.
Don’t recall if it was on your site or some other site, but I had read a prediction about the 2004 enlargement being undone, with the A8 countries/Eastern Europe leaving the EU, because they have now reached a level of prosperity where they have self-confidence and don’t feel reliant on the EU.
Any astrological sign of such a break between the two halves of the EU?

I think one thing to consider here is, again, the rate DJT is sundowning at. They have already had to change the scheduling of his public appearances due to this. The meeting with oil industry leadership was not supposed to be public, but since DJT was not seen in public for days after the attack to Venezuela, they needed to show signs of life, and we all know how that went. Looking at a loved one struggling with dementia, I see a very steep decline happening from here to 2027ish. It likely means that DJT won’t last till 2028 elections, and JD Vance might take over as POTUS soon.
Now, I feel that even if DJT and Vance share the MAGA thinking, their views on Europe are different. DJT is an undoubtable Anglophile due to his mother’s heritage and seems to have genuinely good relationships with many World Leaders. Vance, on the other hand, hates everybody. He may feel the necessity to ally with European Far Right, but likely hates them, too. And this is significant on HOW they approach these situation. DJT is far more likely to form alliances based on personal “gut feeling” and has been persuaded in the past. There isn’t similar playbook with Vance, and that is one of the reasons I am worried about him ever getting the true executive power.
How do you feel about Rubio? Because a Secret5 of State can take over. It doesn’t have to be the VP.
Vance has his natal Uranus conjunct belligerent Antares. This was an aspect shared by Otto Von Bismarck, another politician who upturned the long term established diplomatic order. Vance’s Saturn at 10 Scorpio and his Mars at 22 are conjunct the Maastricht Sun and Pluto/Mars. Plenty of room for trouble there.
Trumps chart has Mars square the Maastricht Sun so though he is an Anglophile he is no over of the EU.

All the EU Charts show the EU’s Sun either conjunct or sextile the U.K. 1801 Chart Sun or Moon. which is surprising. Also surprising is the original common market 1957 Chart has the EU Sun and Moon quite favourable to us. Probably at its best? The other interesting thing is all the EU’s Charts have an Earth Moon. What are the odds of that happening – it’s quite unique!
The England 1066 chart has Mars at 8 Aquarius square the EU 1957 nodes and the Maastricht Sun. This is getting activated by the Pluto/Saturn square in mid 2028. The EU 2004 enlargement chart has its Sun and North Node conjunct the UK 1801 awkward Mars at 11 Taurus. The Blair government was one of the most prominent advocates of EU expansion into Eastern Europe but its enthusiasm actually ran far ahead of the British population who were far more comfortable with the old European Community set up. I think immigration from eastern Europe and the resulting impact on UK workers earnings was one of the factors that led to the rise of UKIP and Brexit. Pluto and Saturn will be hitting that 2004 chart in 2028 to 2029. It is going to need a hefty astrological reset to overcome those influences.
Once the Berlin Wall came down, and East and West Germany were merged together, the EU construct was bound to happen. But yes, we were probably happier with with the EEC. Although at the time, we wouldn’t have known that. We’ll you can only be innocent once. Or so they say.
As to Trump being around longer than 2028, I sure hope not! But stresses between the UN and the US post-2028 is far more likely to the fact that the UN will distance themselves from the US because they can’t trust that another Trump or MAGA person won’t appear in the future. The US can’t be trusted now that we voted in a felon, an open racist, and a (likely) sexual predator, if his reactions about the Epstein files is any indication.
