He has Saturn on the cusp of his 8th with Pluto at the far end of his 8th – so much goes on below the surface.
He’s a very different personality type to her – more out there and changeable, though both are obstinate. Both have their respective Moons in hard aspect to Uranus so will be drawn to an unconventional domestic life.
His Taurus Moon is conjunct her Mars and her Aries Moon is opposition his Pluto – so it will always have been a volatile and intense relationship.
Their composite chart has an affectionate Sun Venus conjunction though it is in an over hopeful square to Neptune which can suggest disappointments when reality creeps in. Plus a composite Mars square Saturn hinting at underlying resentment since one partner has to submerge their needs and personality to make togetherness work. Plus a power-couple though changeable Jupiter square Pluto Uranus.
Their bond has hit a bumpy patch recently with an unsettling and separating tr Uranus square the composite Sun through late April to mid May (continuing on from last year); and an impatient/irritable tr Saturn square the composite Mars until a few days back – so tempers will have been simmering. They will continue to flounder and snap with tr Saturn Neptune undermining their composite Mars till early 2026. They also have an unaspected composite Moon at 2 degrees Taurus which will be under pressure from tr Pluto square until the end of this year.
He has tr Saturn moving through his 2nd house at the nadir of his First Quadrant, so not a successful time – and on when unresolved psychological issues can surface.
She has tr Saturn moving through her 7th and now into her 8th which can be a time of feeling separated from close partners.
Life in the goldfish bowl can be unkind. But it comes with the territory.
Interesting to look at what was going on in their charts when they first met in 1993.
Transiting Saturn was moving into Pisces where it would have conjuncted her Descendant. Notably his Saturn at 0Virgo would therefore also have been opposed.
Pluto was transiting Brigitte’s IC is at 26Scorpio. But her time of birth is 3pm so that’s almost certainly been rounded so it wouldn’t be difficult for it to be a degree or two earlier and therefore Pluto would have been upsetting her home life.
Somehow despite their different Asc-Desc axis (him late Cap-Can, her Virgo-Pisces) they manage to have MC-ICs which are polar opposites and very close in degree. So he was being affected by the Pluto transit too albeit that may have come in the form of his home (IC) changing as he was sent to finish high school in Paris.
And now transiting Uranus is now upsetting those degrees. Revealing what they were perhaps unable to see when the relationship began.

I noticed that the Solar Eclipse of February, 2026 aligns with the Macrons’ 27 Aquarius Composite MC, and composite Juno, the partnership asteroid. The eclipse is at 28 Aquarius square tr Uranus 27 Taurus so potentially energises the France 1792 Mars/MC at 25 and 26 Scorpio. Brigitte’s natal MC is 26 Taurus (with powerhouse fixed star Algol), Macron’s is 29 Scorpio. Tr Mars in Aquarius triggers the eclipse degree again by the end of February, and again in June from Taurus, and November, from Leo. Tr Jupiter in Leo reaches 27 degrees in December.
Jupiter in Leo has a rather ‘royal’ vibe I think, perhaps describing a leader like Macron? He has been nicknamed ‘Jupiter’, ‘king’ of the Olympian gods, as well as ‘Napoleon’ – a Leo emperor. King Louis XVI, who was executed during the French Revolution, had Sun 29 Leo, conjunct Jupiter, 29 Leo. I’d hazard a guess that the Aquarian Eclipse is a significant one for France itself, as well as the Macrons.

Marjorie, are there any astrological similarities between Emmanuel/Brigitte Macron and Napoléon I/Josephine? In both cases, the wives were older to their husbands and it was a second marriage for the wives. And of course, Emmanuel Macron is often portrayed as having a Napoleon complex.

Jupiter currently transiting the composite Mars exactly square the composite Saturn, turning the volume up. An odd little Saturn newly in to Aries moment perhaps, I seemed to notice a few consequential losses of temper/composure over the weekend. Not something that I think of with Saturn generally though. Frustration fuelled bursts.

I think spot on with the Saturn in Aries. She is the older partner and clearly she was making sure that he knew she didn’t want to hear whatever it was he had been saying. Today, there was a Gemini Moon which was transitting her 10h near her Ceres and in his 4h. Spending maybe? Many designer outfits changes on the day that France’s audit is warning of a potential liquidity crises and default on payments for the social security system. Maybe a let them eat cake kind of horsing around?
There is a big double standard as well. If he had done the same to her the hue and cry would be unbelievable. A woman of over 70 should have more class and smooth it over herself. Pretty contempuous action. Hard to love someone who treats you like that.

I agree Lumiere. I appreciate that long flights – and probably alcohol in the mix – can increase irritability, but you never saw the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip behaving like this, and they travelled well into their 90s.
Brigitte has the ongoing Pluto sextile Neptune aspect creating a Yod right onto her Ascendant, 4 degrees Virgo, at the moment, in which case its possible she may be suffering health problems, causing her discomfort and pain and making her irritable. Mars is approaching her Ascendant by transit as well.
Saturn’s in there too conjunct the Neptune.

Though I still am startled at how aggressive she was, how submissive he seems to be behind the scenes, it seemed to me, and just a whole lot of darkness and black holes now exploded to fuel the flames of theories.
