Canada – voting for an alpha fighter

Canada goes to the polls on the 28th one day after the tense, aggravated Mars opposition Pluto which will still be in effect. The run into polling will bring hostile debates and a heated mood with much at stake.

Pierre Poilievre should have been a shoe-in after Justin Trudeau’s limp performance but the Trump-effect with wild claims about annexing Canada have brought Mark Carney, Trudeau’s replacement, to the fore since he is seen as better equipped to handle the surreal situation.

There is only one birth time and nothing too obvious appears on any of the main charts; with the exception of a fortunate/confident tr Jupiter conjunct the Sun/Mars midpoint on Carney’s chart at the election which is minor. And equally minor Saturn transits to midpoints over the election and the days thereafter putting a damper on his mood. Carney, born 16 March 1965, 7.56am Fort Smith, NT, Canada, is a Sun, Venus, Saturn in Pisces with Uranus, Moon, Pluto, Mars in Virgo, so more volatile than he looks. Plus a high finance Jupiter in Taurus opposition Neptune.

His relationship with Canada indicates he is seen as being helpful in times of hardship. His relationship with Trump will be explosive from mid May onwards and on and off into early 2026; and if anything more infuriated and hostile through 2026/27.

Pierre Poilievre, the only other politician with a chance of forming a government, 3 June 1979, is a Sun Gemini square Neptune and square Saturn; with Venus Mars in Taurus opposition Uranus. He does have a yod of Pluto sextile Neptune inconjunct Venus, which has Solar Arc Jupiter square Neptune at the moment – hinting at a life-changing phase. Though Jupiter Neptune can go either way which is no help. His midpoints are blocked over the election and through May with a glimmering of luck from mid May onwards. Nothing conclusive.

His relationship with Trump hints at an ongoing struggle for the upper hand as an essential part of their chemistry with more stand offs in 2026/27 than immediately.

Jagmeet Singh, 2 January 1979, an intensely determined Sun Mars in Capricorn square Pluto has a lucky tr Uranus square his Jupiter/Node midpoint from late May through June and later into 2026. 2026/27 will seem him powering ahead with confidence with tr Pluto opposition his Jupiter.

His relationship with Canada is cool and workmanlike, rather than popular – and with Trump he looks increasingly up in arms into 2026 and onwards.

Yves-Francois Blanchet, 14 April 1965, is a charming Sun Venus in Aries with the over-hopeful Jupiter in Taurus opposition Neptune; and the volatile Mars Pluto Uranus in Virgo opposition Saturn.

He has tr Uranus conjunct his Jupiter late May into June which like Poilievre could go either way – since it was what collapsed Boris Johnson.  His relationship with Trump is hostile at best and more challenged than usual over the next two years.

All of which adds up to no clarity whatsoever on the election.

  1. From BBC.Com “https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cp3129z5kyko”

Elections Canada, the organisation which runs federal elections, said 7.3 million Canadians – about a quarter of eligible voters – had cast their ballots, marking a 25% increase from early votes in the previous 2021 election.

Mail-in voting is up as well, with over 754,000 returning their special ballots to the federal agency. That is more than the 660,000 that did so in 2021.

Latest polling suggests Liberals have a 5-point lead over the main opposition Conservative party, as campaigning enters its last stretch.

      • PC. When you offer a single sentence such as this it is very misleading. Of those 200,000+ ballots most were simply not sent back by the voters or the ballots were received after the election day and could not be counted.

In fact, Elections Canada cannot even open the envelope of a late entry vote and must file it away for 10 years.

As with any large undertaking, there were likely some errors and ballots that ought to have been counted were not. However, not even close to what you are implying.

I have worked for Elections Canada on voting day a few times and I am deeply impressed with the care and quality of all involved. It is an amazing undertaking and I considered it an honour to do it.

        • Thank you for the insight Sandra.

To me, that is a startlingly large number of ballots that were not counted, what ever the reasons may be.

Why is the mail in process so profoundly unreliable?

Were people just not bothered to vote, despite having requested a mail in ballot?

Is Canada Post not up to the task?

As an aside, my DL renewal took exactly one month to arrive from Victoria to the lower mainland, it took six weeks for a birthday card from the prairies.

Election integrity is hard won and easily lost, especially if we merely wish away such a remarkable percentage of votes going astray.

  2. Closing time for the polls (used 7 pm in Vancouver) puts the decision a Libra Ascendant ruled by the 29° Pisces Venus. That’s a pretty bad start. The degree that Wagner mutinied, that degree is notorious for its over before its even begun.

Venus is conjunct Neptune and Saturn. A brake and falling apart. The banger is still mostly on the road and in operation.

And wow, what an opposition, the Leo Mars on the Midheaven opposing the Aquarius Pluto. Watch what the opposition is saying. Aries Mercury. This is very important and gains importance over the term.

The progressed chart shows the Taurus Moon has already moved into Gemini (now ruled by what the opposition is saying) around August 1 this year. Average Canadians are moving on from where they were at the election. From my wealth to my neighbor. That would be a collapse from where we are now. 29° Pisces in action.

Carney’s Sun is conjunct the north node and near that Venus. That looks like the Liberals will win.

The progressed chart shows it doesn’t take long though and the opposition, probably the Conservatives, are going to be the major actor of the election in the role of Leo Mars on the Midheaven.

By January 1, 2027, the Gemini Moon has progressed to the Gemini Jupiter on the symbol of weaving a blanket. Something is coming together with a neighbor.

Then at the end of the term, the progressed Venus moves into Aries ruled by that same Leo Mars.

    29° Pisces strikes again.

  3. “[Carney’s] relationship with Canada indicates he is seen as being helpful in times of hardship. His relationship with Trump will be explosive from mid May onwards and on and off into early 2026; and if anything more infuriated and hostile through 2026/27.”

Might this be fallout from Carney’s supposed role in leading a sell-off of U.S. Treasury bonds by European nations and Japan in order to force the Trump Administration to back down with its imposition of tariffs on the nations of the world?

The next G-7 Summit runs June 615-17, 2025 in Kananaskis, Alberta. Trump is expected to seek relief on sanctions applied to Russia for the invasion of Ukraine and to badger for Russia’s readmission to the fold after the G-8 of the day expelled Russia in 2014 for invading Crimea and Russian-speaking regions in Ukraine.

One can also add negotiations for a revised trade deal to amend the USMCA deal which Trump signed in 2018 involving the U.S., Canada and Mexico to the list of irritants between Carney and Trump. The USMCA is subject to a review next year.

  4. Add-on: a new poll out this morning has support for Wexit (secession of the Canadian West) surging at 30% in each of the three Prairie provinces: Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. This will be alarming for Ontario and Ottawa, and will be exacerbated by another Liberal Central Canada win and likely Trump interference. Support for Wexit is now almost as high as for Québec sovereignty. Québec separatists have long wished for the West to go first.

British Columbia, which appears to be immune to the siren song of secession, would be isolated and may have no choice but to seek closer ties with California, Oregon and the state of Washington, all Democratic strongholds like Vermont, New York and Massachussetts bordering Québec.

The matter will crystallize over the issue of building a trans-Canada pipeline bringing Western oil and gas to the shore of the Atlantic for export to Europe. The difference between the Conservatives based in the West and the Liberals based in Ontario and Québec is that the former would impose this pipeline on a strongly resistant Québec while the latter would not. Separatist leader Blanchet has reiterated in the federal campaign Québec’s opposition to Alberta’s dirty oil. The main separatist party, the Parti Québécois, is expected to return to power in the provincial election in October 2026 on a similar platform based on Québec’s hydroelectric exports.

Carney’s main external challenge will be Trump. Internally, it will be Wexit and perhaps Québec.

    • British Columbia could choose to become a part of Cascadia, if the West Coast chooses to secede from the US. Or it could be forced to join the US, to give the US a a land bridge to Alaska.

  5. I think Carney’s Venus-Saturn-Neptune transits over his Sun at 26 Pisces will get him elected with a majority government, but the race appears to be tightening somewhat. Poilievre, a Gemini who is the Canadian Trump, is meeting strong resistance like the US President as transiting Jupiter in Gemini squares Saturn, but his base in Alberta, where the greatest percentage (20%) favor joining the US in the Texas of the North, could react strongly.

Singh and Blanchet are also-rans who will likely leave politics soon, but thank you for their charts.

    • No.Poilievre is campaigning on youth and hope and nationhood/resources and an easy open visage while Carney is shadier and has been part of the Liberal team which had stagnated growth, increased division amongst Canadian -overall a 10 year bleak performance. He is a WEF/Goldman Sacks,Banker -and doesn’t answer questions truthfully, holds three passports and dodges taxes in off shore accounts.
Not a good bet. Picean’s aren’t the most trustworthy.

      • Antonia, where is the astrological insight in your post? I appreciated Andre’s astrological insights. Merci Andre. They add to the conversation, the analysis.

        • Izzy, perhaps consider leaving the policing to Marjorie.

After all, it’s her site and insight that brings together so many intriguing viewpoints.

Antonias points are very similar to what was brought up by Carney’s opponents at the recent English leaders debate.

          Hardly the stuff of propaganda.

      • Poillievre, like any politician, is also able to work a campaign. Re: your comment on Pisceans not the most trustworthy. Poillievre has a Pisces S. Node and has Neptune opp his Sun/Merc conjunction… particularly a close opp. between Nep and Merc.
Soooooo…. an open visage? I very much doubt that.

One ought to remember the previous Conservative PM, Stephen Harper. (also natal Sun opp Neptune!) and what his legacy was. He figured out how to use and abuse his power as PM with numerous election scams, fraud and violations. The Conservative party passed new laws requiring voters to have more ID… these changes were challenged and cut back only after a major outcry. Harper was all about taking charge of the Conservative “image” by muzzling those that dissented (climate scientists for example) and rewarding those that supported him. He latched onto using omnibus bills to hide serious changes in laws with little time or discussion by the House of Commons. He, quite frankly, scared me as he KNOWS how to gain and use political power.

Harper has n. Jup at 29 Scorp square Pluto at 1 Virgo. n. Sun in Taurus squ. Uranus in Leo and Moon in Aqu. opp that Uranus. A very fixed chart. Don’t have his birth time, but I’ll bet he’s got a strong 8th house.

All to say, Stephen Harper has been Poillievre’s mentor and has recently come out publicly in full support of him. Harper is still very much involved with the federal Conservative party.

Poillievre is a career politician with no experience in the “real” world. He knows how to talk with talking points, how to instigate conflict and is well versed in using the language du jour of populism. Only after Mark Carney became the interim PM did Poillievre modify his delivery. Gone are many of his Trumpisms as the election campaign has changed.
He is another Gemini Sun/Merc ….opp Neptune no less!!!
As we have seen, this astrology signature hasn’t been very trustworthy either!

This is such an important election for Canada… and for the world, I think.
Re: Lumiere’s post on using a Vancouver, BC chart for April 28 at 7 pm to see the arc of the new government. I’m not sure about that…. for interests sake, I threw the chart for Ottawa at 10 pm, given that this is the seat of government.

This chart intrigues me…. Sag rising at 1 degree…. some hope?! S. node in Virgo in the 10th with N. Node, Saturn, Venus in Pisces and Neptune in Aries all conj in the 4th. So a BIG focus on domestic issues and even on our vision, our definition of “home” as a country. Pluto in the 2nd (a deep dive into our values and worth) opp Mars in the 8th (oooooh!)… with that opposition squaring the opp. of Sun in Taurus in 5th opp BML in the 11th. (I need to figure that out more!).
A grand cross…. the 4 numerology of structure, hard work, discipline.. of manifesting. THAT is interesting!

I think Canada is on the cusp of a very important maturation growth spurt! I simply cannot see Poillievre able to navigate this time. It seems that Mark Carney might stand a chance! I do appreciate that the NDP under the leadership of J. Singh has brought forward some terrific new social programs like dental care, child care, etc. I hope the NDP continues to be a presence for sure. Carney supports these changes, I doubt the Conservatives will keep them.

I am particularly interested in this “time” we are all in because my father, German born in Ukraine would regularly tell my sister and I that “I just want to live long enough to know that you can survive anything”.. and we knew that meant another “war”…. certainly a difficult time. Many, many meals started with, not a prayer, but with my dad saying, “well… eat for the hunger that is coming”. The War was ever present in our home.

So, weirdly, I’ve been expecting this all in a way.
My husband, born in Ohio, at Ohio State in 1972 riots…. he now says, “I don’t have to be cynical anymore… all that I could see in the USA political system is now out there.”

The whole world is in a growth spurt, I guess.
I’ve been reading the many posts and replies… meaning to write something.
        Hence the length.
all the best to each and every one of you.
Truly.. take care of your hearts.

        • @Sandra, I am fascinated by your perspective. Apologies for the personal question, but are you Canadian and are you and your husband living in Canada? Thanks! I always try to understand where people are coming from.

          • Yes, Nicole… I am Canadian!… first generation. My dad grew up under Stalin so he was quietly vocal of his deep appreciation of this country… and passed that on to me.

And, yes, we are living in Canada.
I tease my husband that he married me to get his Canadian citizenship!!
            All in jest!!

        • I never heard Pollievre utter “trumpisms”. Pollievre was an orphan and then adopted . There is no birth time . Though he has worked hard as a politician – which is also a “real” profession.
