August Solar Eclipse – prospect of relief

A ray of sunshine breaking through the dark clouds will come with this coming August’s Total Solar Eclipse at 20 degrees Leo. [Sorry not tomorrow.]

   The 10 South Saros series  points to a time of breaking out of a negative situation which has seemed hopeless into a more positive space with more options available. Worries will clear. Solutions will appear and need to be grasped.

 The new-era planets will be aligned with an Air Grand Trine of Pluto in Aquarius trine Uranus in Gemini trine Venus in Libra with Venus opposition Neptune (Saturn) in Aries. And Neptune Saturn will be trine Mercury Jupiter in Leo. There is admittedly an errant Mars in Cancer square Neptune and inconjunct Pluto – but by and large it should be an Air Fire feste – inspiration and bright ideas.

  1. Mars hits the eclipse degree in November and the following March/April. Jupiter hits it in October and in Feb/ May/June of the following year.

  4. I read on another site that on August 10, there will be a rare aspect called the Mystic Triangle. I have never heard of such a thing before. I wonder if Marjorie’s post is related to that.

    My birthday is the day before the eclipse. I remember there was an eclipse in 1999 on my birthday. My whole life changed drastically (for the better) within 6 months of that ecplise. I wonder if this is in the same series as that eclipse -sorry for all my wondering:)

  5. My daughter is expecting a baby girl around Aug. 13, with a scheduled c-section. Shouldn’t do this, but have to ask the question–will there be positive influences before the eclipse? We can’t look at the stars, and plan a baby’s arrival accordingly. Some things are out of our hands, and should be. Good to know there will be a burst of positivity right after she joins the world.

    • I’m a Leo baby born a few hours after a solar eclipse. If the moon is a few hours to a day old, then it’s a positive thing I would say – all potential. I hope it goes well with mother and the little one.

  6. The eclipse chart contains a RIGHTEOUSNESS TRIANGLE, pinned by 4 planets.
    Venus trine Pluto sextle Neptune trine Mercuryc-Jupiter.
    This is a red/blue figure with a fixed motivation. The blue trine/sextiles give an
    impression of calm, serenity & harmony. In contrast, the tension created by the
    red oppositions is concealed within the contained space. If it were possible to step
    inside it would feel like being caught in the crossfire between two opposing factions.
    Some people with figure deny that there are such things as problems because
    they do not want to look inside and resolve their own. Others, are willing to do

  8. Sorry to be a wet blanket, but I thought that in Mundane astrology aspects like the trine and sextile (considered benefic in a natal horoscope) act differently on the world stage, and can be as troublesome as the opposition and square.

    • M not even being a wet blanket, how can I when it’s my bday but then I rather be prepared for worst even if accused of being naysayer…2024 india had Jupiter on its mc line yet I whispered under my breathe as Marjorie predicted profits,that in tyranny it means nothing for people as India also has Leo Sun Sign like me n worst phase began, it was so bad economically that govt had to take back it’s decade old taxes so it can make people buy n it gets some taxes..as all froze since people went completely bankrupt- all in Jupiter mid heaven line 2024.
      Eclipse doesn’t let plants get sunlight to survive.
      Again, 2026 ,Jupiter enters Leo but useless for people though it represents people n Aquarius as partners and being Uranus with Pluto too in same sign -foreign allies and Feb 17th eclipse is showing signs of completely becoming colony from democracy..back to colonization .for indians.

      Yet, praying these words of breakthrough bring relief.

    • Exactly conjunct my Pluto, as well as transit Uranus conjunct Mars! rather worrying. I feel solar eclipse on your Uranus could bring a stroke of luck.

    • Exactly conjunct my Venus-Uranus midpoint (not the best for stable relationships, except it seems, with Aquarians), my Desc and North Node. As it happens, huge life changes being planned – retiring, moving to another country – but since much is out of my hands (eg foreign authorities), I have to count on good fortune… which I also hope this will bring.

  11. I wish I knew how to read these charts. My own birth chart is a mess, because I am a Leo with Leo rising and a total of three other planets in Leo, with my moon sign in Libra as well as two other planets.
    What does that mean? No clue.
    I look like a typical Leo with a large mane of hair and am an attorney (libra influence perhaps?) But beyond that, I don’t know what these planets mean.
    Is there a book or class out there that can help those like me who are ignorant of astrology and want to learn the basics?
    Sorry for getting off topic, but I am truly curious and would appreciate any suggestions. Also, I admit to some curiosity about how eclipses affect signs, especially since I have one coming up.

    • The Astrologer’s Universe by Cornelius and Hyde that was reviewed here on 25 January is a good place to start. Eclipses only activate a planet in your natal chart when they occur within a degree or two, and then only according to the planet’s nature. Briefly, they can augur change and/or reveal what has been hidden. Eclipses are a big topic!

  13. Thanks Marjorie. It reminds me of the Grand Sextile of 1944 with Uranus in Gemini, Pluto in Leo and Neptune in Libra which could perhaps be seen as the light at the end of the tunnel of WWII. The solar eclipse on 25th January of that year was at 4 Aquarius and formed an opposition with Pluto in Leo, part of an Air Grand Trine with Uranus and Neptune, the whole configuration forming a Grand Kite with Pluto as the focal point. We are so in need of such an uplift in our own times.

    • In 2014, the renowned French astrologer with a good track record Andre Barbault wrote:
      “The ( Saturn Neptune) conjunction of 2026 is the most benefic configuration of the century and its interplanetary partnership will work for the best in a splendid re-launch of civilization.
      It contains a harmonious relationship between primordial polar opposites, the coming together of the external and internal, rational and spiritual mind and soul and human beings surpassing themselves while experiencing life on a higher level.”

      Hmm, we wait, we hope.
