Artificial Intelligence – let the games begin

The AI stock panic is receding after the launch of China’s DeepSeek, a less capital-intensive artificial intelligence model, resulted in a one day rout. Nvidia and Oracle Stocks have rebounded.

DeepSeek was launched sometime in May 2023 (wiki) which would give it a Taurus Sun conjunct Uranus and Mars in Cancer opposition Pluto (at zero degrees Aquarius) square Jupiter – well-suited to the tech innovation market and a confident, lucky bulldozer of an energy.

The Nasdaq, 8 February 1971 9am New York, was always due a significant jolt this year with the Solar Arc Sun opposition the Uranus. Its over-hopeful (prone to crashes) Jupiter Neptune conjunction which had moved to conjunct the Midheaven by Solar Arc at the 2000 dotcom bubble bust, is due for a shake up in 2026/27 when tr Uranus will oppose the Neptune Jupiter. In 2000 as well there was a tr Jupiter square tr Neptune – which is back this year in June just after several of the main players’ charts are being shaken up the previous month. The Nasdaq’s Pluto in final degree Virgo is also being spotlighted by the eclipses through 2025.

One of the main US AI players Sam Altman, 22 April 1985 5am Chicago (memory) has been complimentary about DeepSeek but is not having a great year with his Moon Mars in Taurus opposition Saturn in Scorpio being upended by tr Uranus hard aspects in May 2025 and again over late year into 2026. Plus a challenging, heavily pressured tr Pluto square his Taurus Sun opposition Pluto through 2025/26. Into 2027 he has a deflating SA Neptune conjunct his Jupiter.

Nvidia, 5 April 1993, has a tough-minded Saturn in 27 Aquarius square Pluto in 25 Scorpio which is in a state of tumultuous upheaval all this year with tr Uranus hard aspects starting in April/May and again late year.

The CEO Jensen Huang, 17 February 1963, Taipei, is also showing stress in May 2025 and again later in the year as tr Uranus is square his Sun in Aquarius.

Larry Ellison of Oracle, 17 August 1944, a Sun Leo with a Virgo stellium square Uranus looks jolted in March/April this year but is heading for a confident 2026.

Mark Zuckerburg, 14 May 1984 2.39pm NY, also jolted and jangled this March/April with tr Uranus conjunct his Taurus Sun; and is not too enchanted with tr Saturn square his Neptune mid year onwards. He’s heading for a downer in 2027 with SA Mars conjunct his Neptune but thereafter is reinventing himself with a surge of confidence a year later.

[I would have to confess not ever having got my head round AI and its implications.  But obviously a Pluto in Aquarius innovation which will stay.]

  1. It seems to me that the people who say AI is an inevitable part of our future are the people who either own AI companies or are AI designers and engineers. Others don’t really use it properly – ie they expect it to act like an extension of their own brains or they trust it completely as if it was a sort of spiritual guru. Most of my job is fact checking, rewriting and fixing AI generated material that looks completely plausible at first glance – speedily generated, fluent and prolific – but is in fact the total opposite – a muddle of misunderstandings, fiction and hyperbole. If speed and simplicity of use is its sp, surely that’s completely negated by all the levels of scrutiny and checking needed afterwards? Will Neptune’s move into Aries bring some clarity to this situation and will people abandon it in disgust?

  2. I admit to negativity around AI, mainly concerning how it learns and how that can be manipulated to push a certain world view depending on who creates the algorithms, after all algorithms on social media have not exactly worked well for society. I am surprised I feel this way considering I am fairly Uranian, but I watched over Covid as the world became addicted to TikToc and it occured to me, with Tictok being Chinese is it possible that users interactions were the training ground for this new AI?

From the BBC; When the BBC asked the app what happened at Tiananmen Square on 4 June 1989, DeepSeek did not give any details about the massacre, a taboo topic in China. It replied: “I am sorry, I cannot answer that question. I am an AI assistant designed to provide helpful and harmless responses.”

In theory an open source approach is good for humanity and it shakes up monopolies, seems like a good use of Pluto in Aquarius, but it’s China who does nothing if it won’t contribute to their long terms plans of being a dominant force, I just can’t work out how this advances them beyond of course controlling the narrative of ‘facts’ if they have the most used AI and people rely on AI more.

    • AI not able to think and generate, it will always be at the mercies of whomever programmes it unless of course it evolves (like some futuristic movies imply). That’s the bottom line. A machine cannot think so therefore has no ideas, rationale or reasoning. Therefore what you need to be worried about is who is behind it?!!! You can’t believe in a machine. However, all the persons who are shady and outcasts out there could produce AI content and target people who will believe. How have they decided to mitigate that? What is in place to protect people, esp children and vulnerable? They didn’t listen when it was internet and here we are today. This world is becoming scary for real.

      • @Jennifer E, the fact being there fortunately isn’t a single narrative in the US, private companies holding too much power on what we see and hear is bad, too. This was, however, always a thing with mass media, too.

I am actually confident one thing Pluto in Aquarius, Neptune in Aries, Uranus in Gemini will bring is a rise of counterculture. I live with a Generation Alpha preteen, and it’s fascinating to watch how her generation, at least where I live, is super localized and individualized in their content consumption. Also, ironic. My daughter has been “ironically watching” family tubers for years, fully knowing what they portray isn’t real, but also very aware of any hint of child abuse (she is a Cancer Moon with a major “oldest daughter” energy she can’t unfortunately direct to siblings). Her besties seem to be into very different things, though, which is very different from the hive mind we, the Pluto in Libra, had when I grew up.

      • No, that is not what I meant at all. I clearly mentioned that open AI in theory is good and that AI monopolies ( which are almost all US) are bad, no idea how you come away with that. Im bothered about the current popular AI whoever made it, because as I pointed out – it’s open to abuse which my BBC quote explains?

  3. AI basically makes the human mind a ‘super mind’. Which would be great if all minds were kind and benevolent. Unfortunately, in this world, that is not the case and in addition it appears to be all the dysfunctional minds that have grabbed the money in order to fund these projects. The growth of AI disturbs me under these circumstances and I find all of these developments quite worrying. I am hoping that the empathy and instincts that humans posesss with be enough to overcome the ‘super mind’ that is AI, because the current circumstances are definitely worrying.

  4. AI might be good for astrology, I know one Vedic astrologer and software author said, because now you will be able to check many astrological hypotheses much more quickly. He was talking about electional, but it can probably be said about natal as well. Or any other kind.

  5. I can’t get my head around the massive amount of energy and new infrastructure that will be needed to enable AI to do away with many people’s jobs and completely control our lives …. in a world where unregulated cryptocurrency billionaires make the decisions. It’s also worrying that a recent opinion poll in the UK tells us the majority of generation z (born 1997 -2012?) reject democracy in favour of “a strong leader”. Marjorie does a great job in explaining the trends and joining up the dots – can we yet tell if the pluses of AI e.g. early diagnosis of illness – are likely to outweigh the downside of loss of control?

    • Worth remembering the poll about Gen Z rejecting democracy was first highlighted in 2022. That was when Gen Z were seeing the corruption of an elected leader Boris Johnson vs the stability and quiet leadership given by unelected Queen Elizabeth II.

Gen Z with their Pluto in Sag / Uranus-Neptunes in Aqua step back and see the bigger picture and see what is wrong with the system in place. It’s natural for them to reject the elected version of democracy which they can see isn’t working.

And, to an extent, it makes sense. Elected politicians have no interest in longterm projects which may bear fruit for their opponents when they have left office. They have no interest in an unpopular measure like increasing taxes. So things have to hit rock bottom before they actually change. An unelected leader can impose those things which is great if they are sane and believe in the greater good. Trouble is power tends to corrupt

      • Lord Acton’s famous dictum

“Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority; still more when you superadd the tendency of the certainty of corruption by authority.”

In a country like the U.K. the problem is that the governmental system is not truly democratic which is why parties can wield power with under 35% of the popular vote. Too many MPs in the House of Commons are party apparatchiks with little interest in their constituents and the second chamber is full of unelected place men, time servers and friends of former Prime Ministers. In addition ultimate sovereignty lies in a hereditary monarch whose ability to do the job depends in part on the pot luck of family genetics. Little wonder people tend to hanker after some sort of Oliver Cromwell figure to sweep the whole lot away.

  6. Hi Marjorie, completely off subject, so apologies in advance.

Dale Vince the “green warrior” seems an interesting character. Sun Virgo but many are suspicious of his motives.

Perhaps you would consider looking at his chart? I’ve a feeling there maybe something a little sinister.

    • He’s a year before Keir Starmer and has a Sun Pluto conjunction in Virgo sextile Neptune – and Jupiter Saturn in Virgo inconjunct Uranus. No birth time so tricky to see how it all works out – but could be off centre where practicalities are concerned.

  7. Honestly I was not surprised by DeepSeek, the Chinese have invested a lot in AI in the past years. I finished my studies in AI five years ago, though at that time it was not popular like it is today, I must admit I was helped by Astrology. I have always been passionate about Astrology and I saw it years ago that AI is going to dominate, I am also one of the AI Engineers and I also own my AI company. I have worked with AI companies in Hong Kong, they pay well, they have the highest AI salaries in the world. Looking ahead astrologically, I think the Chinese AI is going to dominate as it more affordable, they are using cheap resources to produce it. Most emerging economies are reliant on China, they are going to adopt Chinese technology even more as it is affordable.I also see Larry Ellison (Oracle) becoming very rich over the coming years, through AI. He might even become the richest man in the world. AI is here to stay, it is going to be like electricity. It is going to be every where. It is going to be an essential, part of our daily lives. Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus in Gemini are surely going to boost it eve more.

    • As you are an expert can you just clarify some points-there is already open source ai on github is deepseek different or?
-presumably now anyone in an ai startup will be challenged on running costs and exit price. Don’t the 7 bros now get to pick up fresh IP quite cheaply as they have deep pockets plus 500bn from Trump thus consolidating their position?

      • Yes, there are lots and lots of open source AI projects on GitHub, but the software or code is different, but the results are the same depending on what you want to achieve. DeepSeek is open source itself, unlike other models which are not. What DeepSeek has shown the world is that you can build or develop a model using less money than billions that other companies are investing, they used less energy for instance, cheap hardware, smarter reinforcement training, used less memory and they didn’t train everything. They were cost effective while training their models. Training is continuous, models need to be fine tuned often. Also AI will never replace human beings/skilled labour or even astrology. Models are taught by human beings to know what they know. Same as Astrology, AI will never replace Astrology. AI needs human feedback in order to predict, it is only going to make Astrologers work much easier. Some careers are going to be obsolete but in the process there is going to be new jobs. Careers like Astrology, Science, Software Development, and Cryptocurrency exchange business are going to thrive over the coming years. There is going to be a demand.

What is known as ‘Magnificent 7’ will have to review their budgets now, they were probably using to much money unnecessarily. I am sure you have seen that has affected the US stock markets on Monday after DeepSeek announcement.

        • also new uses for AI in healthcare for sure. A friend received some comprehensive blood panels 1 hr after her doctor visit…incredible! they used AI. Thanks Tshele to be continued and certainly big job losses in bigger firms quite likely-or the threat of to keep costs down.

  8. Here is a ChatGPT Gemini horoscope written in 10 seconds:

Here’s your updated Gemini horoscope for today, Wednesday, January 29:

Today brings a chance to connect the dots and spark meaningful conversations. Your quick thinking and charm make you a natural at solving problems and building bridges. Keep an eye out for new opportunities—they might come from unexpected places. Be cautious about overcommitting; balance your enthusiasm with focus. A little flexibility will help you adapt to changes smoothly. Stay curious but grounded, and the day should unfold in your favor.

      • So far, DeepSeek doesn’t appear to know much about Chinese astrology! From the BBC News website:

“Fiona Zhou, a tech worker in the southern city of Shenzhen, says her social media feed “was suddenly flooded with DeepSeek-related posts yesterday”.

“People call it ‘the glory of made-in-China’, and say it shocked Silicon Valley, so I downloaded it to see how good it is.”

She asked it for “four pillars of [her] destiny”, or ba-zi – like a personalised horoscope that is based on the date and time of birth.

But to her disappointment, DeepSeek was wrong. While she was given a thorough explanation about its “thinking process”, it was not the “four pillars” from her real ba-zi.”

  9. “[I would have to confess not ever having got my head round AI and its implications. But obviously a Pluto in Aquarius innovation which will stay.]”

If only the World leaders had the same self awareness! I can wrap my head around certain parts of it, but then again, using the products by the companies lead by people deemed “visionary AI gurus”, I feel completely fooled. For instance, I have been using Oracle at work (that I enjoy) for the past 8 months. It is now cloud based, but the user interface and the user experience are from almost 30 years ago. You can press a wrong button and be sucked into a loop for several minutes. There also isn’t an intuitive way to keep two queries open at the same time. This is used to keep a global business, worth billions, going. The integration to a separate CRM system is rudimentary. And my work is supposed to be taken by the AI in 5 years? I just feel like the whole IT ecosystem used by ANY company is a Monster of Frankenstein built from 58 separate parts, with different owners, and if one falls, all collapses. Kudos BTW to Bill Gates’ company to build one WORKABLE package. No the best in anything, but working.

BTW, also can’t quite contain my Schadenfreude for Nvidia. I did interview with them for an administrative role I was more than qualified for years ago. The personality interview with the team was was pleasant enough. But something didn’t quite click, which is understandable. However, their HR Department, sitting in another country, made it an absolute horror to me announcing I wasn’t a match on Friday afternoon -already questionable-, and what happens to be the biggest “carnival” type celebration in Finland. I was in tears trying to serve my then English system 1st grader her weiners and potato salad. Zero cultural empathy and understanding, and the fact I’ve had better rounds with consulting companies is really telling…

  10. What about Google DeepMind and Demis Hassabis?

Mustafa Suleyman, ex Deep Mind, is Microsoft AI.

And there is a French guy, ex DeepMind, who now has his own firm.

I think it will take about 2043 for us to figure it out what to do with this.
