Alex Hepburn – acting without consent

Alex Hepburn, an Australian born cricketer for an English club has been given a five year jail sentence for raping a sleeping woman. He had set up a What’s App ‘conquest’ game with Joe Clarke, another cricketer, to see how many women he could have sex with a week before the rape. The judge told him that he “demeaned women”. “You thought you were God’s gift to women,” he said. “You did see her at that moment as a piece of meat, not a woman entitled to respect.” The game the judge said was “foul sexism.” “It demeaned women and trivialised rape – a word you personally threw around lightly.”

Born 21 December 1995 in Subiaco, Australia, he’s a confident sporty Sun Jupiter in Sagittarius with a Sagittarius Moon perhaps in an emotionally blocked square to Saturn in Pisces. His Venus is conjunct Uranus Neptune in Capricorn making him highly strung and unpredictable when it came to romantic liaisons. It’s not a particularly nasty chart, though – generalising wildly – Fire sign men tend to be immature longer than most. Down in his midpoints there’s a great deal of Pluto activity with his Sun, Venus, Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune all in aspect to Pluto midpoints so control will be a major factor for him. And his Mars in Capricorn is semi-square his Pluto as well. With his Sun conjunct his Neptune/Pluto midpoint he may not be the most stable psychologically since it tends to be off-the-wall.

His mate for the night Joe Clarke, who had consensual sex with the woman in question beforehand, wasn’t charged since he had committed no offence. He was born 26 May 1996 and is a Sun Gemini opposition Pluto, with his Pluto sextile Uranus and trine Saturn – so he’s also heavily into power and control.

Years ago I met a women who had been given horse dope and gang raped which freaked me out since I’d never come across the phenomenon before. I scoured the literature to find out what psychological mechanisms lay behind the behaviour. There wasn’t much around written down in those days but what I found put it down as a homoerotic activity – boys showing off sexually to other boys/men. The woman was incidental or at least secondary. A kind of macabre game of pass-the-parcel. Though it also indicates a hatred of women in the desire to so totally delete  their agency and their identity.

  1. I’ve always noticed this homo-erotic flattery among misogynists myself. On a couple of ocassions I have called them out on it stating, ”when you sexually demean women, be it physically, sexually or verbally, and then brag about it to other men, you are actually cruising for male approval. And male sexual approval at that. So, why not remove the woman out of the equation and just have rough sex with each other?” I GUARANTEE you in EVERY single scenario this takes place with ‘men’ like this their response is a deeply homophobic one. They like to think feminism is the other side of the misogyny coin. It isn’t, homophobia is. These are the two fundamental root causes to toxic masculinity and the sooner this perversion of maleness is routed out of culture the better for ALL of us. Men would not be committing suicide in incredibly high numbers either once this ugly culture is burned to the ground. I really hope within the next 10 years we see a huge turnaround in the way men are expected to behave in society.

  2. Thanks for this.

This kind of crime is unfortunately all too frequent in the sports world, sportsmen within college campuses or any situation where male prowess and performance is given high value by a prevailing culture. I am thankful that this prosecution ended in a guilty verdict and that the perpetrator has been jailed as it hopefully sends a strong message. Maybe I am being overly optimistic, but I have noticed a small shift in the public response to the verdict, in that there appears to be slightly less victim-blaming in this particular case than is depressingly usual on internet forums. Interesting what you say, Marjorie – Lili Loofbourow recently wrote about ‘toxic homosociality’, in other words, men wooing other men over the degradation of a woman and the feelings of invincibility and perverse joy that it gives the perpetrators. Hauntingly, Christine Blasey-Ford said of her ordeal, “Indelible in the hippocampus is the laughter.”

Whilst you point out that Hepburn’s astrology is not particularly bad, I notice that Sagittarius Sun is conjunct Jupiter (potent in its own sign) and (correct me if I am wrong) is unaspected in the overall chart. I have often noticed that Sun-Jupiter aspects, though often lauded in astrological cookbooks as a beneficent combination can have the capacity for inflated egos and the tendency to “play God”. Zeus after all in myth was a habitual rapist. The Centaur can be playful, comedic, expansive, inspiring and generous, but the dark side can be predatory and overwhelming. Look at the Centaur in myth – Nessus, Pholus and other rampaging abductors. I can’t help but see these connections looking at that unbound, let-loose Solar energy.
