A joint US-Israel strike on Iran set off explosions in Teheran shortly after 9.30am, and other hits were reported across the country in several cities. Iran retaliated with attacks on US air bases across the Middle East in Kuwait, Bahrein, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The violent escalation took place with Mars in late Aquarius exactly conjunct the recent Solar Eclipse which located to Teheran had Pluto exactly on the Descendant on the cusp of the 7th house of allies and enemies. The eclipse chart also has Eris (= discord) conjunct Chiron on the midheaven hinting at old unhealed wounds.
The strike chart had a fight-for-control Pluto on the Midheaven; with Mars in an over-reactive and explosive square to Uranus and Algol. Mercury is retrograde. The Pisces Sun is conjunct the North Node. It is not as damaging as the Iraq Attack chart from 20 March 2003 which had the Pisces Sun square the war-mongering Saturn opposition Pluto. The Mars Uranus square might suggest a shorter-lived conflict but then again Pluto on the Midheaven will not give in easily.
According to one analyst “Iran could unleash hell on Strait of Hormuz – through which a quarter of the world’s oil travels.”
Although described by Israel as pre-emptive the evidence is that this is not a response to an imminent threat. ‘It is a war of choice with Israel and the USA calculating that the Islamic regime in Iran is vulnerable; dealing with a severe economic crisis, the fallout from the brutal crackdown on protesters at the start of the year and with defences still badly damaged by last summer’s war.’
Since Tehran is one of Moscow’s staunchest allies and has supported Russia’s war effort in Ukraine by supplying drones and missiles and buying Russian weaponry to strengthen their own defences, it puts Putin in a tight spot.
On the astrology it came a few days earlier than anticipated with the tr Uranus square the 10th house Mars on the Israel chart running from 12th March to 5th April which always looked to be a flash point, both recklessly aggressive and insecure. Tr Uranus is also square the Mars/Ascendant on Trump’s chart now which the recent eclipse spotlighted, putting him into an even more combative mood than usual and continuing until Uranus exits into Gemini in April.
The most illuminating chart for Iran is the 22 December 1501 chart, which has a tough, brutal Mars in Taurus opposition Pluto which is being triggered right through into April. Great risk and great instability. A fight to the death.
However there is not much visible sign on the astrology that the Islamic regime will collapse instantly which is what Trump seems to be demanding.
Ali Larijani, 3 June 1958, has been named as the successor should the Iranian Supreme Leader succumb though he is evidently not trusted by the hardliners. He is a Sun Gemini with a confident (maybe overly so) Jupiterian yod inconjunct Mercury sextile Mars. He has Pluto in final degree Leo being opposed by Solar Arc Saturn for this year and next and by tr Uranus square both in the next two months. So under maximum pressure, weighted down by war and unsettled by turbulence.
The Israel chart has tr Pluto exactly opposition the 10th house Moon now to mid March for a moment of national intensity and great pressure on the government. That stays around on and off till late 2027. Also around now is a ruthless and dangerous Solar Arc Mars square Pluto which could suggest a frustrating and risky phase of being trapped. Into and through 2027 the Solar Arc Midheaven will conjunct the 12th house Neptune for a country mired in confusion and indecision. 2028 looks agitated; and 2030 will see even more destructive and stuck situations with SA Sun square Pluto and SA Mars square Saturn. And on through the 2030s with grinding change from tr Pluto opposition their 10th house Pluto, then maybe another war with Saturn and finally even more jeopardy and mountainous obstacles from tr Pluto opposition the Mars into early 2040s. There is absolutely nothing to suggest that this escapade or any future one will bring peace to Israel.
It is difficult to see how this ends – the US public will not take kindly to being dragged into a foreign conflict having voted Trump in on a no-war ticket.
Where Trump is concerned given his recent over heated mood, it reminds me of one of Maggie Thatcher’s cabinet minister saying before the Falklands War that she was itching for a fight and did not much care who she had it with.
On the USA chart what is significant is the Solar Arc Sun exactly square the USA Mars which is a sign of a collision/shock/conflict/outburst of anger. On the Sibly USA chart tr Uranus is exactly square the late Aquarius Moon which was in the direct line of the recent Aquarius Solar Eclipse hinting at an emotionally upsetting moment which will test the USA’s internal sense of cohesion and security, as well as bring its public image under scrutiny. Tr Uranus will square the Solar Arc Mars this April for a phase of high insecurity.

Patritius’ commented that his Iranian friend wanted Iran to be free, but not by the Americans, this made me think about a totally unrelated UK news story this week about Ian Huntley being attacked. The guy responsible is also a seriously nasty piece of work and I’ve seen debate online this week re both topics around the lesser of two evils. Personally I am reflecting on how the current astrology relates to that debate.
During the Iraq and Afghan debacles, an Iranian acquaintance of mine said that of course he wanted Iran to be free, but not by the Americans. Perhaps, American policy makers should take that remark to heart
I have begun to think of Trump as a tool. He’s a bludgeon on Mexico, Venezuelan, Iran and probably will be for Cuba too. He’s a catalyst for change but what happens afterwards is what is going to matter bc Trump isn’t healthy enough to direct how everything he has just broken will play out. The people have to decide whether they take back their countr(ies) and what is to happen to them. As do Americans. So, all of these people and their leaders, will have to decide, bc Claudia could use this as a chance to dismantle the cartels under the cover of Trump, or she could choose to let it be a blip. In a weird way he’s giving a lot of people an opportunity if they decide to take it. In no way does he have the right to do any of this, but it’s done, America is over, and it’s all self inflicted, hopefully we choose to rebuild post trump with consideration of our communities, the climate, and with very different values at the center of what we build post Trump. Probably it will be a mix bag, but hopefully the arc is a bit stronger towards the good.

The widespread disruption to flights is perhaps described by Mercury Rx in Pisces? I don’t think Iran has many allies there, so that may also influence how events continue to unfold. I noticed ‘partnership’ asteroid Juno is at 27 Scorpio conjunct Pluto for Iran 1501, which might point to an extra intense response from any allies Iran does have? Not a happy thought when it comes to Russia.
With Pisces being associated with religion, it could be relevant that this is now the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which began about ten days ago. Many will be fasting from dawn until dusk each day across the Middle East. Traditionally, dying during this month is considered a “blessing”, as scholars say the gates of paradise are open, while those of hell are closed.
Personally, I sometimes feel as if current times are more in tune with Ariel’s line from the Tempest:
“Hell is empty and all the devils are here”.
I agree with you Marjorie, this attack on Iran does not look like it will produce what US/Israel are expecting. It won’t be easy to win as they thought. One analyst said “Obama signed a nuclear deal with Iran years ago go not to produce a nuclear weapon, Trump came and cancelled it, now they are in war with Iran not to produce a nuclear weapon”. Israel itself doesn’t look like it is getting a relief anytime soon, it still looks to be under panic mode for many years to come. Like you said before, Trump looks like he is trying to create some distraction from problems at home, it’s Epstein files and economic woes on the other. Voters are feeling completely betrayed from voting him in, he promised them a strong economy and no war, but he is doing the opposite now.

Reuters reported that Israel claims Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in the strikes.
I think this will just result in a power struggle and possibly a civil war in Iran. The country is going to become like Iraq.
One report cited this birth date for the Ayatollah: April 19, 1939.
Which certainly could reflect very powerful, driven, and perhaps harsh leadership (potential with his Aries Mercury, Moon, Saturn, and Sun ruled by a Capricorn Mars).

And Mercury Retrograde… Ancient leaders and many current cultures consult astrology for the most auspicious times for war and weddings. I’ve often thought our modern leaders (not just government, but any organization) should do likewise (Nancy Reagan did have an astrologer), but I suppose that even if one of them would, they’d be too embarassed to admit it, and more ‘rational’ advisers would prevail. Personally I only mention astrology to people with whom I feel safe in doing so, such as this site, and certain family members and friends.
