Hi Marjorie,
Al Jazeera is reporting (and showing video footage) of U.S. air strikes in Caracas, Venezuela. It looks like we (the U.S.) are now at war with Venezuela.
I despise Nicolas Maduro as much as I despise Donald Trump. Unfortunately, it’s the civilians who are going to be caught in the middle of this conflict.
Astrologically speaking, does it look like the Maduro regime will end quickly so innocent people won’t have to die…or does it appear like Venezuela will become Iraq 2.0?
@Chris Romero, Trump claims they’ve captured Maduro. I see videos with choppers flying 01.05 am Caracas time.
Full Moon hitting US Sun… One thing I know about nocturnal operations is that you usually DON’T plan these for happening during Full Moon. I think US has have help from Venezuelan Military, and this is essentially a coup.
Any chance to have January Heavenly Headlines.
Tomorrow. Schedule in a muddle.
Could you please look at the protests in Iran against the cruel, corrupt, incompetent rule of the mullahs? Iranians deserve so much better!
Could you look at the astrology for China and Xi Ping over the coming year as it appears to be the scene of a flare up over Taiwan. In addition, it appears to be undergoing a severe financial crisis that could impact the rest of the world
Can you look at an important event from the past? The Niʻihau incident
One of the Japanese pilots from the Pearl Harbour bombings crashed on a remote Hawaiian island. The Native Hawaiians gave him food and water, and then fetched a couple called Harada to interpret. Harada was born in the US to Japanese parents.
The Haradas then betrayed the Hawaiians. They tried to help the pilot destroy his papers and plane, and make contact with the Japanese military. The Hawaiians then overcame them.
This is the incident that prompted Roosevelt to intern Japanese people in the US.
It took place on 7th – 13th Dec 1941. The Sun was at 14 Sag, trine Mars at 15 Aries, opposite Jupiter at 16 Gemini. It worked out well for the Americans and ties in with the Sibley chart and it’s 13 Sag Ascendant.
But it was a disaster for the Japanese, making the Americans think “There is no such thing as a good Jap”, which is why they didn’t hesitate to bomb Hiroshima.
Can you look at the incident from the point of view of Japan’s astrology chart.
The Saturn-Neptune conjunction of 1917-18 collapsed many monarchies. The Ottoman sultanate, German monarchy, Austro-Hungarian monarchy, Bulgarian monarchy, Romanian monarchy, Portuguese monarchy, all gone. The most violent fall was the Russian monarchy in the Bolshevik revolution.
Saturn and Neptune were at 4 Leo, so it makes sense that the structure that collapsed was monarchy.
The 1952-53 Saturn-Neptune conjunction was in Libra. Stalin died, Khruschev ended Soviet support for continuing the Korean war, and by 1954, the US Senate put an end to the McCarthy hearings. So a crumbling of authoritarianism?
The Saturn-Neptune conjunction of 1989/90 was in Capricorn. The iron curtain fell, the Berlin wall fell, communism fell. Communism is a style of government, so perhaps that is the Capricorn element of it.
We’re in a Saturn-Neptune conjunction right now. Last degree of Pisces, and first degree of Aries. Could the religious revival be the Pisces element of it (atheism dissolving)? As for Aries, that indicates something to do with war.
A previously feared military machine crumbling (USA)? A previously passive country re-arming (Germany)?
I know everyone thinks this conjunction will affect Russia, but their chart doesn’t have anything that could be triggered by 29 Pisces/0 Aries.
The chart triggered is the 1066 England chart which has Moon at 29 Pisces. The 1801 UK chart has Jupiter at 1 Leo 51, which will catch a trine from the Sat-Nep conjunction in Aries. (That Jupiter probably protected the British monarchy from the 1917/18 Sat-Nep conjunction at 4 Leo).
Can anyone think of any other countries with sensitive spots at 29 Pisces/0 Aries?
Thanks Candy for the potted history of Saturn / Neptune conjunctions. I wonder if being an ‘out of sign’ conjunction is significant. The Feb 20th 2026 conjunction will sit at zero degree Aries – a critical degree. I anticipate themes of courage, impulsivity and war.
Hello Candy. Great post. I think this can affect Russia though. Their war has, in a sense, become a cult. Over 1 million soldiers dead, 500 billion dollars spent (over 4 years) and not much territory gained. Hoping Neptune leaving Pisces helps the Russian people to truly understand and realize what they’ve lost and what’s happened. Perhaps a mass awakening there.
Thanks for the comments, Candy, Caroling, Amelia! On Russia, I think not much territory gained is the key. Even if they get some, it won’t be much (or enough). Saturn being terra firma and Neptune being moisture and floods (and chemicals) that wash the land away or render it barren from pollution. Russia has been poisoning its own land for decades, outright and by not cleaning up old messes, radioactive and otherwise.
Not many people comment on the accumulated risks to Russia’s agricultural lands, which are scarce enough to begin with (Saturn coming to the fore; scarcity, hardship). A growing population needs more resources for industry and old fashioned food producing land. Ukraine used to be the breadbasket of the Soviet Union, along with parts of Georgia. Forests and rocks don’t grow wheat. Russia has lots of that, but not millions of acres of fertile fields. Which is one of the main reasons, apart from political dominance (which serves the same purpose in the end), that Putin is so persistent in (re-)gaining those fertile, water laden lands that Ukraine holds.
Ukraine gave up its nukes, supposedly for the sake of peace after the Soviet Union broke up. Ukraine has no defense and they didn’t think far enough ahead. Now there is a serious environmental crisis in Russia that is not much discussed. It is the same in other USSR satellite countries where negligence and corruption have been the norm for decades.
The reckoning is here in terms of climate, population and food sources via the focus of war. War is always about resources. Russia just plain refuses to make the most of what it has and has had. Russia clings to the imperialist notion that you can keep what you take by force, but that vision is crumbling. Only a revolution in thinking could change Russia, based on dire necessity, but that won’t happen under Putin. At this point, the Russians have killed off a significant part of their healthiest male population (and gene pool). And who knows what deprivation is really going on behind the iron curtain that remains after 30 years of upheaval.
Food does not grow in gilded palaces and water isn’t clean in polluted industrial lakes and rivers. There is a time bomb in terms of money and feasibility to repair the damage. It is ticking loudly and Putin and his cronies know it. Not saying they are desperate, but they look to Ukraine to get them over the hill, or desperation may be nearer than it appears on the outside. To deal with it the Russian government/oligarchs, whoever makes the decisions, need to change. History, however, says that will be very hard to do. Old thinking dies hard and in the long run reality spares no one. So, Neptune (water) and Saturn (earth) in Aries (fire) ought to be very interesting in Russia, as well as elsewhere.
America has similar problems as to what’s happening in agriculture in Russia. Slow poison environmentally and wilful disregard for the consequences of ill conceived policies. Trump is busily destroying the US agricultural economy and finding new farmers after the old ones go broke is going to be very, very difficult. Farmers, real ones, who actually grow stuff, are a very specialized bunch.
We urbanites and semi-urbanites who live among the parks and trees do not appreciate how very essential farmers and farmers’ lands are. Farming is not only a big business, it is also a fundamental skill for survival for society, and that skill is scarce. People don’t grow up knowing how to survive in the sense of farming to survive, so we depend enormously on the few people who know how it is done. And Trump is treating them very badly in a big way.
It’s a topic for another day, but I believe many Americans will be cursing Trump at their next Thanksgiving dinner in 2026. Rising food costs and scarcity of some foods not grown in the US are on the horizon if government does not wake up (Neptune, unfortunately is not big on waking up!). US farmers, even some of the huge corporate ones, are going bust at an alarming rate since the tariffs and other drastic measures have come in.
The US natal Sibly chart (Sagittarius rising) has Pluto, the planet of immense riches, well placed for land riches at 27 Capricorn Rx. However, US progressed Pluto is now about to switch signs into Aquarius, an air sign. Aquarius has a very unpredictable, quirky ruler, Uranus. If anything could force a common bond between people of opposite political faiths, it would be Aquarius, the sign of government and groups. There is a lesson in Aquarius that has nothing to do with mythical beasts or high tech. It has to do with cooperation out of necessity, which doesn’t bode well in a time of climate change. The US is a country that experiences extremes of temperature in the central and eastern states in the most balmy of years. What will happen to food sources (never mind politically) when unpredictable weather causes disruptions in growing food on a large scale. Air may bring water in Aquarius, but it also may not bring it. Anyway, enough said. There will be challenges in land resources in the US at the same time as in Russia and elsewhere. Whether it brings war, more or less, will depend on how much Aquarian cooperation people manage to roust up out of the problems that air brings. Just my opinion….
All the terrible fires with tragic consequences happening. I am supposing these are connected with the aspect pattern of Pluto sextile Saturn and Neptune trine Uranus. Poor people.
I was wondering the same. Re: horrific Swiss fire. A waxing Gemini moon quincunx a stellium building in Capricorn. A Gemini moon fits with a venue populated with young people and fast-paced fire (quick to change). Mercury (stressed?) at aneretic zero degree Capricorn.
Capricorn associated with Mountains and upscale resorts.
BBC website reports that many of those hospitalised are “very young… between 15-26” – and breathed “toxic smoke” into their lungs. Lungs associated with Gemini.
Your replies really helpful, thank you Caroline.
Thanks Claire. I think zero degree Capricorn in Gemini ruled mercury, is significant. Particularly as media speculation suggests sparklers could be a culprit. I’d associate Fireworks with mercurial, airy Gemini. Capricorn: discipline and Rules/Regs. Hard lessons being learned. A terrible thing to happen and avoidable.

Hi Marjorie,
Bangladesh’s first woman prime minister, Khaleda Zia, has died. Any astrological thoughts or insights regarding her?
I noticed that the transiting Uranus/Pluto midpoint hit 0 Aries in May. It will still be at 0 Aries when the Saturn/Neptune conjunction happens at 0 Aries in February on that tr midpoint. Does this add a revolutionary (maybe with tech or other Uranian themes) element to the conjunction? Uranus/Pluto might also suggest new forms of spying or surveillance technology? It seems significant somehow. Not sure what to make of it.
“Uranian” is an interesting choice of adjective, Jane.
In the late 19th century, when homosexuality was very frowned upon, so much so that there were no specific words to describe it (the term “homosexuality” itself came later), one word that was proposed for it was “Uranian” (“Urning” in German). That word is no longer in use in that sense now, but you would still come across it in books of the late 19th/early 20th century.
Pluto can mean death, but also power, possibly rape (such as the rape of Persephone by Pluto in Roman mythology). Each of them and the other planets can be interpreted in multiple ways.
Minnesota’s systemic fraud revelations have made the news lately.
Any thoughts on Governor Tim Walz?
Any astro comment on recently released Egyptian-British activist Alaa Abd El Fattah, Marjorie?
With slow-moving planets close to exiting compassionate and forgiving Pisces, I’m hopeful of ‘second chances’ all round. I much admired King Charles’ Christmas day speech this year, extolling those virtues.
‘I’m delighted that Alaa Abd el-Fattah is back in the UK,’ Starmer wrote on X.
“Abd el-Fattah is far from morally spotless. Old tweets from what appear to be his account are astonishing. ‘I’m a violent person who advocated the killing of all zionists, including civilians, so fuck of [sic],’ he said in one. ‘We need to kill more of them.’ He appeared to deny the Holocaust and advocated ‘killing police’. He said he didn’t like white people. People have been cancelled for far less than this. In Starmer’s Britain, people have been jailed for less.”
The Spectator, 28 December 2025
PC that’s repugnant. No question.
Hi Marjorie,
How much emphasis, if any, do you place on a person’s vertex? How do you interpret it if you do in fact consider it? Jupiter is currently cj my vertex….just wondering if I should keep my eyes open to help create some positivity from this dynamic or just let it pass. Tks
Barbara G. Walker passed about a week ago. She was a fascinating intellectual force writing several encyclopedias of women’s symbols, myths and stories that shaped feminist studies in the 1990s. At the same time, she was collecting and publishing encyclopedias of knitting patterns, launched the popularity of raglan knitting and invented a special decrease. Born July 2, 1930, Philadelphia, PA (according to wiki). She believed women should always learn, protect their knowledge and pass it down.
Oh I didn’t know! I have several of her books. May she travel well.
