Malala, the youngest Nobel Prize laureate in history, who was shot by the Taliban aged 15 for campaigning to support women’s education in Pakistan in 2012 where it had been banned, has a new memoir out Finding My Way. After recovering in the UK, she and her family settled in Birmingham and she has grown her advocacy into an international movement at the same time as taking an Oxford University degree and recently getting married. She now has 3.4 million followers on Instagram; her birthday is a day at the UN and she has a Scotland Yard protection team. The Malala Fund supports girls’ education projects in six countries.
She is critical of world leaders who were happy to be photographed with her at the time but ghosted her when she wanted their support later on.
Born 12 July 1997 in Mingaora, Pakistan, birth time daybreak perhaps 5.11 am, and is a Sun Cancer on the focal point of a wide T square to Saturn in forced-to-be-self-reliant in Aries opposition Mars Moon in Libra. Mars Saturn implies both courage and life experiences which are destructive or cruel and that is focused onto a caring and ego-centric Sun. She is well designed to lead a woman-supportive movement. If her birth time is reasonably accurate then she also has an imposing 5th house Pluto making her a personality of substance out on the social scene. Her Saturn in the 10th makes her a good organiser.
A lucky 8th house Jupiter opposition Venus in Leo in the 2nd will protect her, as well as bringing an interest in fashion and the high life.
Her Chariklo is conjunct her Mercury which makes sense of the caregiver and campaigner; and her Chiron in late Libra is tied into a Cardinal Grand Square opposition Saturn square Sun conjunct Juno (protector of women) opposition Neptune.
When she was shot in 2012 her Progressed Mars was square her Sun and opposition her Saturn. And tr Pluto square tr Uranus may have been impacting on her Libra Moon as well.

An inspiring woman indeed. Malala’s wonderful work is much needed in this world. I notice her Sun and ascendant are aligned with the fixed star Castor, 20 Cancer, and alpha star of the constellation Gemini. Here’s Ebertin and Robson’s thoughts on this star, they seem to be pretty accurate:
“Castor is influenced by Mercury and has a blend of Jupiter in it. Linked with the Moon or Mercury, it has the effect of such people being blessed with a good nature and fine morals. It is also supposed to convey refined manners. A conjunction with the Sun or Mars will make for energetic characteristics and a certain tendency for satire and cynicism, depending on the position of Mercury or Mars in the chart as a whole.” [Fixed Stars and Their Interpretation, Elsbeth Ebertin, 1928, p.40.]
“If Rising: Blindness, bad eyes, injuries to the face, disgrace, stabs, wounds, imprisonment (operations can be substituted for blows, stabs, wounds).” [Robson, p.155.]
Robson’s remarks are chilling really, since Malala was shot in the head, causing terrible damage. Her survival and subsequent flourishing seems miraculous and heartwarming.
Thank you Marjorie. Such an inspiring woman!
There is also a mutual reception by rulership/exaltation with saturn aries/mars libra, sun cancer/moon aries
The chart also had a yod of Saturn sextile Jupiter inconjunct the North Node.
Makes me wonder if there was a an aspect of destiny and of great malevolence and benevolence, perhaps from a past life involved in the events of her life.
I applaud Malala and I am proud of her, she is one of a kind. I hope more and more girls around the world follow in her steps, there nothing better than having education now. Having education is the best tool or weapon one can have to defeat poverty. With Saturn in her 9th sector of education currently and heading to her Midheaven, she will see a great success over the coming years.
I remember when she was offered a scholarship by the elite Atlantic College in Wales and she asked if they would instead offer places to her two friends from the bus who were still stuck at home in Pakistan. She preferred to remain in Birmingham. To their credit they did. Her nodes in the 3rd and 9th reflecting her life path.
Can I request you to expand on your last sentence, Susan H?
I too have my Nodes in the 3rd and 9th, though they are in the earlier degrees of Pisces, not the latter degree of Aquarius.
What I find interesting is her Sun being so dead conjunct (within a minute) of her Ascendant, suggesting she was born as the Sun arose on the eastern horizon. That must have been seen as a very auspicious event.
My brother was born just before sunrise, putting the Sun in his first house. And my uncle, a Vedic astrologer, predicted a great future for him based on just that.
Imagine how Malala’s chart, with the Sun precisely on the Ascendant, would be seen in that context.
Hi UM, it is my understanding that the nodes reflect the soul’s chosen path. The South is where we have come from and already mastered and the North is where we’re headed. The rulers and aspects show how that can be achieved. I think her chart shows that very well. In my own chart too, SN Gem 12thH and NN Sag 6thH with the 12thH ruler part of my Leo stellium in 3rd, so I use/have used my natural communication skills in the service (6thH) of foreign employers and clients (Sag), which I have done now for 40+ years! I would guess that with your nodes being in Pisces and Virgo your path may be related to writing, education or teaching related to health and healing. It also depends on the rest of the chart, of course.
I am also glad, Marjorie, that you are using Chariklo in astrological analysis. This asteroid may be a key to understanding our times.
One of my heroes. I hope she has an increasing impact over time. The world needs her and people like her.
A decent human being – I wish her a good and fulfilling life.
