They have been kept apart recently with her back-to-back filming and his touring schedules; with some speculation about her recent daring roles ‘with some of the kinkiest sex scenes of her career’ perhaps causing problems on home base.
Their wedding on 25 June 2006 was immediately followed by a stint for him in rehab with alcohol and cocaine problems so was hardly an auspicious start but it had seemed a surprisingly strong match thereafter until this.
She was born 20 June 1967 3.15 pm Honolulu (from memory) and he 26 October 1967 12.05 am (unverified) Whangarei, New Zealand.
She is a final degree Gemini Sun widely square Uranus (Pluto in Virgo) with a showy, charming Jupiter Venus in Leo in Sun; and a hard-edged Mars in Libras opposition Saturn in self-reliant Aries.
Born only four months apart they have the same outer planet placings; with his Scorpio Sun sitting on her Ascendant square her Jupiter for good feels and a good look for her; and his Cancer Moon trines her Neptune for an idealistic, sympathetic connection. His passionate Venus in Virgo conjunct Pluto is close to her Pluto which would also give a sizzle of attraction.
Their relationship chart has an affectionate composite Sun Venus conjunction though that has been upended by tr Uranus in square earlier this year and on into 2026. There is a cool, too-much-work Moon opposition Saturn; and a Jupiter square Neptune Mars = over hopeful and not always mutually supportive of each other’s career dreams.
Her personal chart hints at a career high ahead as transiting Jupiter heads for her midheaven in 2026 into 2027; and a confident push for success as tr Pluto opposes her Jupiter in 2026/27. But she also has a raft of tricky Solar Arcs in 2026/27 which hint at sadness and angst-ridden moments. If her birth time is accurate tr Pluto is heading to cross her IC into her 4th from 2027/28 onwards pointing to a reorganisation at home.
He looks relieved in a way with tr Uranus square his Jupiter now and into 2026 though there will be ups and downs with a pressured and challenging tr Pluto square his Sun continuing through 2026 as well as tr Neptune Saturn square his Mars in Capricorn. Plus a collision-type SA Sun conjunct his Mars in 2026 and a confused SA Pluto conjunct his Neptune in 2028 at the same time as SA Jupiter conjunct his Sun. It’ll be a long haul but may end well for him.
Their wedding chart from 25 June 2006 has a Cancer Sun opposition Pluto which has been under strain in the past two years and more so as the separation takes place through 2026; with emotional upsets from tr Uranus conjunct the Venus. There was also a destructive, self-defeating Mars Saturn conjunction then which was an omen of a one sided match to come.
Her previous marriage to Tom Cruise lasted ten years and perhaps her choice of partners can in part be attributed to her Sun/Moon midpoint being conjunct her Uranus attracting her to unconventional mates – though the first would be more restrictive than would sit comfortably with her free spirit.
I am not usually interested in the charts of movie stars, much less their love lives, but I find Kidman to be compelling. Now I see why. Her Neptune in Scorpio in the first house is conjunct my Saturn square Pluto-Moon. I don’t watch her sex scenes because they upset me. And her Moon is conjunct my Venus-Ascendant conjunction. I prefer her other roles and she is a romantic fantasy.
Seems telling that they each are undergoing significant outer transit squares to their Suns suggesting potential for a major life change. For Kidman, T Neptune is squaring her Sun (transition, dissolution, estrangement). For Urban, T Pluto is squaring his Sun (new perspective, breakdown, rupture).
Mars saturn conjunctions r toughest for those who have partner or married into such clans. Pluto n Jupiter do give the strength with Pluto easily taming mars saturn conjunct ones. I have never understood the Gemini-Scorpio attraction. In my experience, the Scorpio individual always has the upper hand while the Gemini is absolutely besotted. Then the Scorpio leaves. Sad story. I hope they both find what they’re looking for and move on.
Same, Kathy. One of the oddest and most unlikely pairings in the Zodiac. I’m not surprised that Kidman and Urban split, only that they actually made it 20 years. And the word seems to be that he’s moved on, and she didn’t want it to end.
I realize I’m speaking of just Sun signs here, and there are other factors to weigh in. But generally, most Scorpios in my experience are looking for a particular depth and consistency of the soul in relationships that Gemini just cannot come even close to, barring maybe a hard aspect from Pluto, or possibly “grounding” from Saturn as well. No judgement against Geminis. They just aren’t naturally wired that way.
Their Moons—Cancer for him, Sag for her—tell a similar story, as also do their Mars and Venus signs.

The chemistry is in his watery neediness desiring air/fire stability. Him wanting closeness, her putting up distance.
Ordinarily you’d expect his Cancer moon to be clinging on to the relationship and her Sag moon to have moved on. But, if as you say, it’s the opposite then that hints at what’s been going on.
He’s been clinging and clinging for years hoping to get her to be closer and more intimate and finally given in having exhausted his options. He’s realised it’s never going to happen and once that bubble bursts – water is done – especially where Scorpio or Neptune are concerned. She, on the other hand, has always felt securing knowing he was chasing her. Now he’s stopped, she’s feeling it.

People often long for something in someone else that can’t actually be fulfilled by that person, like a fantasy. Doesn’t stop them from longing—possibly for many years—to find it in them anyway. Some hold out for a lifetime. For others, a sobering transit can pop the bubble as you suggest, and bring them crashing down to face sobering reality. This indeed seems to have been the case for Urban.
Meanwhile, for Kidman, the fantasy was in his pursuit and desire for her—and her freedom to be distant and elusive from him as she chose to be, essentially sitting in the driver’s seat of the relationship. But he went “off script” in her eyes by essentially jumping out of the car and walking away, hence her recoil.
I have fallen foul of 1960s women with their Pluto in Virgo sextile Neptune in Scorpio thinking they can turn me into their perfect man to create their idealised relationship. Never lasted long because I don’t play that game. But I see most of that generation got divorced when the kids were grown up and quickly moved onto 2nd marriages – probably to repeat the same fixing game.
When you look at how the Urban-Kidman relationship started – it began with Nicole persuading him to go into rehab. There was something needed fixing and he needed someone to save him that helps the initial chemistry. Plus they both have Saturn in Aries – so a lack of self- belief / confidence / efficacy / assertion etc.

I see Mars Saturn conj in the wedding chart and Mars Neptune conj in the composite. I’m sure Pluto likes to play in the prosecution of a divorce, but I’m limited to scope it. The marshal part, e s p e c i a l l y amidst heartache and grief is what intrigues me. No doubt a wily attorney is ‘helping’ things along, but NK is a force. Reporters commented how rare it was for intimate detail to be revealed (in a public court filing – clearly meant as a shot for the media to unload ). Her possible 8th house Sun seems unlikely to do that – but in another way notes of vengeance fit, chiming perhaps w her

I have known two Gemini Sun (female)/Scorpio Sun (male) matches. Both seemed unlikely at the time but have been remarkably enduring. I think the peripatetic Gemini feels grounded by the more certain and passionate Scorpio. Nicole Kidman is being buffeted by Saturn and Neptune squaring her Sun as did the recent eclipse, so their turmoil makes sense.
There are plenty of exceptions to go around for what would seem to be the path of least resistance.
This is by no means scientific, but I honestly saw more Sun Inconjunct couples come through the office I used to work in than trine, sextile, oppositions or even squares between Suns (to say nothing of how the Moon or even Ascendant might have balanced things out). Taurus and Sagittarius. Aquarius and Cancer. Scorpio and Gemini. People so energetically different from each other that it’s a wonder how they even met.

Apologies for yet another post Marjorie but I believe Keith’s DoB is 26 October. His 15 degree Virgo Venus directly opposed the 15 degree 7 September Lunar eclipse. His 27 degree Uranus in Virgo was conjunct the 29′ September Solar eclipse for a unexpected (?) fresh start. All seems very fated. Astrologer Susan Miller (the timing of eclipses) webpages makes for an interesting (and spookily accurate) read.
It’s been a nodal cycle for them together and the wedding chart has its North Node at 29Pisces which is getting hammered by Saturn and Neptune but also last week’s eclipse landed on that degree of Virgo iirc

Re eclipses: given their many years together wouldnt it be likely their 29th degree got pinged well prior this ? I’m wondering which eclipse breaks the camels back? Transits feel more plastic and manageable (with an attitude adjustment). But eclipses seem

really this is a worry thing for me, as a recent eclipse had jumbo impact for me.i had a friend who always shuddered around eclipses, and it wasn’t something I wanted to embody.

Also, Nicole Kidman’s natal Chiron is at 29 Pisces (squaring her Sun), perhaps accentuating her highly sensitive, ‘healing’ bond with Urban in the wedding chart – a connection that might reflect her power to get him into rehab soon after their marriage. And now, with the Neptune transit, apparently the bond is broken. Perhaps reflecting an especially sensitive, painful time for Kidman and self-healing before a new chapter.
