Same Sex unions – USA ponders a reversal

There are fears of a retreat away from a civilized stance on same sex marriage in the USA with a plea to the Supreme Court to overrule a 2015 landmark decision making it a fundamental right.

Kim Davis, a former Kentucky county clerk who was jailed for six days in 2015 after refusing to issue marriage licenses to a gay couple on religious grounds is on the legal war path seeking to overturn the Obergefell v Hodges ruling which extended marriage rights for same-sex couples under the 14th Amendment’s due process protections.

There have been various steps along the way of legalizing same sex marriages across all states in the USA since 2004. The most recent 26 June 2015 is showing signs of distress with the Mars Sun conjunction in early Cancer catching the tr Saturn Neptune square exactly now and into 2026; continuing into 2027. Plus over this winter tr Uranus opposition the Saturn in Scorpio pitting progressives against reactionaries.

Kim Davis, 17 September 1965 9.45pm Morehead, Kentucky,  belongs to a fundamentalist Christian movement, which favors a literal interpretation of the Bible. She has said she believes that “we are living in end times.” And reinforced her view that the Bible is infallible.

Despite her piety she has been married four times to three husbands with a variety of children, some born within wedlock, others not. Shortly after the same-sex marriage license controversy, she switched from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party.

She was born 6 days after Bashar Assad, the former Syrian dictator, and has Saturn in Pisces in her 10th opposition Uranus Pluto in Virgo conjunct Mercury in her 4th square a Gemini Moon on her Ascendant. Highly strung, emotionally reactive, scattered, erratic.  She also has Mars Neptune in vengeful Scorpio square her Midheaven and trine her Saturn.

Her Mercury conjunct Pluto echoes the USA’s dogmatic, intransigent Mercury opposition Pluto, making the country susceptible to rabble rousers with dinosaur brains.

Tr Saturn and Neptune are square her 1st house Jupiter across the winter denting her confidence. Further ahead she will face a life-changing series of devastating calamities in 2027/28 as her Solar Arc Uranus Pluto conjunct her Mars Neptune.

Although her plea to the Supreme Court seems outlandish and absurd, there are worrisome crossovers. Both she and SCOTUS, 24 September 1789, have Saturn in Pisces (= regretful about the past); both have Venus in early Scorpio; and her determined, publicity-seeking Mars Neptune is conjunct SCOTUS North Node and square its Pluto – though that could swing either way.

Her relationship chart with SCOTUS points to movement over the winter though not maybe in her favour but there looks to be continuing pressure for two/three years ahead. Given the justices who are “originalists”, sticking to the mandates issued 250 years ago, anything is possible.

Davis’ relationship chart with the USA looks deflated in 2026 but again is likely to be still causing ripples into 2027.

I know Cancer clings onto the past (tho’ I know several who are very forward looking) but I struggle to understand why the USA is so vulnerable to ??? – creationism for heaven’s sake; and other whacko religious zealots plus anti-government militias. All western countries have all these bizarros in odd pockets but nowhere near as visibly.

  1. According to Astrodatabank’s AA rating for Kim Davis….her ZONE of birth is
Eastern Standard Time +5, not CST +6,…giving her an Asc of 4Ge10’33”

  2. What’s happening in the US is really sad, I am not in politics or support any political party. What I am about to say is purely astrology and the truth. Since I started studying Astrology many years ago, I have never come across any birth chart that shows a person’s race, sexual orientation or religious beliefs, unless if I am inexperienced in that field, but I don’t think so because my fellow astrologers have never written anything about it. But research is continuing. All the economic and social integration gains that were made in the past years are now being reversed by the current administration, and the corrupt and captured SCOTUS. What we are seeing in the US now is pure dictatorship, not the electorate or people’s will. I think most Americans are not homophobic, sexist or racist. It is just a certain group or percentage that is pushing their own agenda. I have said before that Pluto In Aquarius for the next 20 years is going to transform the world and communities, people will accept each other as they are, regardless of their backgrounds, race, gender and others. Gay and Lesbian people (LGBTQI+) in general, will always be part of our society and lives whether we like it or not. The current US administration is trying to classify or discriminate people based on their beliefs, sexual orientation, race and more. And it is definitely not going to work.

  3. Reasons we seem to have so many right-wing and religious (often the same thing) nutcases:

    1) No national/state church tradition, unlike in most European countries and the UK; as a result, freedom of religion was one of several main reasons the first settlers from England and Europe arrived here in the first place. During the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, especially, this is where westerners with unpopular, nonconforming religious beliefs fled to and settled, thinning the ranks of zealots across the Pond and ensuring that said zealots reproduced here rather than there. Nature or nurture? Not sure. At any rate, you’re welcome.

    2) Radical freedom of speech and religion (don’t worry, King Donald is trying to eliminate those), which some have inevitably taken too far.

    3) Lots and lots of space, lots of habitable land, and relatively few people per square mile (especially in the early days), making it easier for communities of like-minded weirdos to form and isolate themselves from civilization and education. They also reproduced, and their descendants (maybe with a genetic tendency or longstanding cultural tradition?) are still among us.

    4) A cultural bias and history that have always given outsized emphasis to “independence.”

    5) Modern mass media and social media, with their “man bites dog” preference for the outlandish, ensuring that divergent voices are amplified over those of the majority (what Nixon famously called “the Silent Majority”–although Nixon was himself a Quaker).

    6) There are a lot of us (currently more than 340 million)–so even if the *proportion* of nuts to normies is roughly equal to that in other countries, the absolute numbers are larger. If it seems like we have a lot of these folks here, it’s because we do.

    • Great analysis, AI22!

Don’t forget the American passion for possessing multiple guns. Although recent statistics indicate that fewer American families currently own guns, those that do own far more guns than in the past.

  4. As an add-on, Marjorie, could I request you to see the charts for Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, the two oldest Republican appointed and most conservative justices, and look at the chances of their retirements while Trump is still President, so that Trump can appoint younger conservative justices?

It would be ironic if they will have learnt from RBG, who famously refused to stand down while Obama was President and the Senate in Democrat hands, and whose seat was filled by Trump.

    • Without consulting astrology my guess is that least Thomas will retire next year (summer) so that a Republican-controlled Senate will confirm his even though it is extremely unlikely that Democrats can pick up a met four seats to flip control of the Senate during the midterm elections.
