The first eclipse of the year is a Total Lunar Eclipse on 14 March at 23 degrees Virgo/Pisces with the Sun conjunct Saturn and Neptune which suggests a fair amount of anxiety and illusory thinking from Saturn Neptune. With a harder-edged, explosive, perhaps military, Sun Saturn trine Mars sextile Uranus.
On the astrocartography, the generally unfavourable Pluto MC line runs through Ukraine and all points south which does not look hopeful.
The Partial Solar Eclipse of 29 March at 8 degrees Aries, also has the potentially high-risk Saturn trine Mars sextile Uranus. It is in a 9 New North Saros series which according to Bernadette Brady is physically expressive, so accidents, great effort or even violent events may accompany it. It can be positive in terms of constructive physical activity as long as a watchful eye is kept on safety.
It was around previously in this Saros Series in 2007, 1989, 1971, 1953, 1935, 1917
Ukraine has Chiron on the Midheaven which might suggest difficulties deciding on a path ahead; and the New Moon MC runs through Poland. Brazil and Australia look less than thrilled.
The Total Lunar Eclipse of 7 September at 15 degrees Pisces/Virgo is the first eclipse to bear the signature of the new era with Pluto in Aquarius trine Uranus in Gemini sextile Neptune in Aries and Saturn in final degree Pisces. There may be a more upbeat mood with the Full Moon trine/sextile Jupiter and Jupiter in an enthusiastic square to Mars.
Though the Saros series of 9 New South is associated with worries about loved ones, health and paperwork. Bernadette Brady remarks: “Any news will have a sense of destiny or fatedness about it.” It was around previously in this series in 2007, 1989, 1971, 1953, 1935, 1917.
On the astrocartography the Pluto MC is through Moscow and the Middle East which may not augur well for those regions; with a more comforting Jupiter IC through Ukraine.
It will be visible from parts of Europe, North America, Greenland, and Russia with the greatest eclipse depth over Greenland and far-eastern Canada.
The Partial Solar Eclipse of 21 September 2025 at 29 degrees Virgo is in a downbeat opposition to Saturn and Neptune, though Saturn is trine Jupiter which in turn is square Mars in final degree Libra which may take the edge of the Saturnine gloom. Plus the Pluto trine Uranus sextile Neptune (Saturn) of the new era is in place.
The Pluto MC line is through Norway and central Europe.
It will be visible from parts of Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica, and the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.
The EU chart with its Ascendant at 29 degrees Virgo will be affected by the September Solar Eclipse especially – and also by tr Neptune Saturn moving across its Ascendant as they head for Aries in the EU 1st house cutting down high hopes and bringing confusion about identity.
ADD ON: Starbucks is cutting back on its corporate staff and some items on the menu to counter falling sales in the US. With a 9 degree Aries Sun opposition Uranus; and Pluto at 28 degrees Virgo, it is catching almost all of this year’s eclipses, forcing it into changes.
Th other eclipse sensitive chart is the relationship chart between Emmanuel Macron and Trump which has a composite Sun at 26 degrees Pisces and Venus at 8 Libra – which is equally being tested to the limits throughout this year. [The mutual dislike in this instance is every bit as strong as between Zelensky and Trump with a similar composite Saturn Mars square Neptune – suspicion and hostility.]
ADD ON 2: Another eclipse-jangled chart is the original Act setting up Washington, DC, 16 July 1790, which has a Cancer Sun square Neptune; and more significantly for 2025 a yod of the Sun sextile Mars at 27 Virgo inconjunct Pluto. So the Virgo/Pisces eclipses all year will rattle up the combative Mars. Plus there is a frustrating, trapped, infuriated Solar Arc Mars square the Washington yod focal point Pluto as well. A tricky year.
The Sun at 23 Pisces and Saturn at 22 Pisces at the time of the March Lunar Eclipse are within orb of Markab “ The Star of Sorrows” associated with honours and riches but also misfortune, cuts, stabs, fire and violent death. Neptune will be conjunct Scheat for both Lunar and Solar Eclipses in March so neither is particularly well starred.
Noticed that many of the Saros cycle dates are all significant for Russian history—1917 Revolution, 1953 Stalin death, 1971 Khrushchev death, 1989 Berlin Wall fell. Brings up questions for Russia and Putin this year.
Wow, I have just reminded myself of the prolonged stay of Venus in Aries and Mars in Cancer, and I wonder what it all means… Any theories appreciated!
Venus and Mars are in their detriment in those signs respectively.
The Mars is pretty weak and defensive while in Cancer but it is transiting conjunct U.S. Sun, Venus and Jupiter while in Cancer. I guess that could energize those planets but since progressed U.S. Mars is retrograde all of that Martian energy is turned inwards and we see that with the battle between Elon and federal workers and between Republicans and attendees of town halls.
Who knows where this will end up when Uranus returns to the same place it was last July when Trump almost met his maker.

Thanks Marjorie. Your mentioning of Astrocartography and eclipses has made me wonder what has happened to that vertical strip of the planet from Russia and the Caucasus, through the Middle East to Yemen, Somalia and east Africa. Stories of round the world travellers getting in to trouble trying to cross it in various ways have been in the press. It’s almost like a new iron curtain, a geopolitical barrier. I’m sure that there is probably a name for it somewhere.
On a separate note, we sometimes expect a lot from eclipses at a personal level, thinking it’s going to trigger an instant big event in our lives. Whereas instead of big events, most of our big changes in life come through something more akin to the tipping point of a thousand choices. Compounded micro-shifts, as behavioural scientists would put it. A lot of these nudges we barely notice at the time, and even if we do, we don’t always imagine where they could lead. Something to bear in mind I guess
“Starbucks is cutting back on its corporate staff and some items on the menu to counter falling sales in the US” Not just Starbucks, but Amazon and Walmart have reported softening revenue. This morning Microsoft has announced it will not need as many data centres as previously forecast. Meanwhile Mr Buffet’s cash pile has increased from $250bn to $325bn from the Autumn.
In contrast to all this gloomy news Mr Trump maybe reassured that both S&P and FTSE100 indices reached their highest level at the end of last week. Meanwhile the NASDAQ index ‘paused for breath’. Maybe turkeys do vote for Christmas
Doesn’t cash lose value as it remains somewhere, and that’s called inflation, so why would one of the most successful investors ever stock it?
Speaking of investors, interesting astrologically might be Jim Simons (“quant king” and “greatest trader of all time”) and David E. Shaw, both mathematicians, Jim even academically successful, had things named after him in maths.
True but better than lose it all in a market crash.
Weren’t the people who ran Long Term Capital management mathematicians and Nobel Prize winners to boot. I’d rather stick with Mr Buffet
Thanks for using the July chart for DC. Astrotheme’s September, 1791 one (maybe something to do with L’Enfant’s design plans?) seemed a bit off, as I went to graduate school there and it never impressed me as a Virgo location. Still, I’m hopeful that the asto-events coming up this spring/summer will set up an opposition to the chainsaw craziness.
I noticed that with the March 14th lunar eclipse that the sun not only has a separating conjunction to Neptune on its one side but also the transiting N Node (all sextile Uranus)…does anyone have any thoughts on possible interpretations for this dynamic? My understanding of the Nodes is still pretty green
My progressed chart on the eclipse 15 pisces/virgo is Jupiter opposition rx Mars exact on eclipse plus 29th October and that date had to be looked re my life has the Nodes exact on those numbers according to Astrodienst. In Sabian symbols, unless yours is say 10.00 degrees exact then it is the next number. 23 Virgo Pisces eclipse relates the the NHS I believe.
Apologies if this has been said before, but this mid March Eclipse is part of the same saros cycle ( 123 Lunar) that was active ( March 2007) when the sub prime mortgages started to collapse which was considered by many the beginning of the 2008 financial collapse. Financial astrology is not an area I know too much about, but I do know they think eclipses are important, Saros 123 Lunar previous appearence was February 1989, a few months prior to Black Monday
Black Monday was October 1987.
That was a lovely day, I recall. The Friday before, I had a premonition that something very bad was about to happen. I felt the urge to move my mutual funds to someplace safer…and I didn;t. Lost everything. Took another year to recover back to the original principal, and was taxed for capital gains. Bitter sweet.
I remember Black Monday in October 1987. I was taking a college night class on interest that covered the many ways interest on debt, bonds etc. is calculated (we students did have hand calculators then). The prof gave a fascinating lecture on the economy, saying something major was up with the markets, but no warning of anything so drastic. Wham! The DOW dropped more than 20% in one day. Breathtaking.
If it were to happen today it would be catastrophic. Now people worry about -2%. In 1987, except for the unfortunates who sold on the down, economic recovery was pretty quick. It was the first derivatives and options crash (…gambling off other people’s debt) and circuit breakers didn’t exist. It was a good thing 1987 derivatives/options were not traded in volumes like today and the derivative “multiplier” effect was not fully in place, either up or down. The FED filled the breach.
I wonder what will happen if the markets tank in the Trump era, if he meddles with the FED? Here’s a little history lesson from the Fed: https://www.federalreservehistory.org/essays/stock-market-crash-of-1987
It doesn’t matter really, other than reminding me to triple check anything. There is still a direct link between the last worldwide financial collapse and worries now in the same saros cycle. The solar 123 saros cycle also is linked to depressed finance and monetary issues. Personally I despise how modern finance and late stage Capitalism systems are completely insane yet still protected at all costs, maybe this time will be different.
Jeff Snyder made a podcast a couple of days ago showing that the current spreads between junk bonds and treasuries are as low as March 2007
Interesting! In the UK 1989 felt like it marked a big shift: it’s the year that Poll Tax was introduced (in Scotland first of all) and by early 1990 there were riots. Then there was a huge recession in the early 90s, with staggeringly high interest rates and lots of people facing negative equity on homes, and repossessions were rife. My parents were terrified of us losing our home
– dad was on the dole a lot, they were literally digging out pennies from the sofa to help pay their mortgage each month (mum had to count out the small change at the Halifax to show it added up!). It seemed fitting that grunge then became a driving force in alternative youth culture, along with ‘crusties’, shoegaze and proper/illegal raves. Maybe just how it felt to me at the time, but 1989/1990 felt like the point when the 80s confidence/chutzpah/swagger vibe evaporated. I also note Thatcher resigned in 1990.
There was a Saros 123 Lunar Eclipse on 10 February 1971 at 20 Leo about 6 months before Nixon took the US dollar off the Gold Standard. It was followed by a Saros 149 partial Solar Eclipse at 6 Pisces on 25 Feb 1971. The cycle of Lunar and Solar Eclipses through Saros 123, 149, 128 and 154 repeats in 2025 though in different signs.
The first planet to activate the March 2025 Solar Eclipse degree will be Mercury which reaches the eclipse degree on 25 April 2025. This coincides with an opposition between Pluto at 3 Aquarius and Mars at 3 Leo so it maybe a date to watch, particularly given that Saros 149 can be associated with sudden and violent events.
Oh well, we continue with the tendency of every Eclipse hitting me personally. Aries Solar Eclipse is oppose my Sun, Pisces Lunar Eclipse Sun is on my Ascendant. All I can say is that fortunately the ones in 2024 weren’t disastrous.
Solaia, your Sun must be conjunct my Moon. Same for me, the 2024 Eclipse at this degree in Libra wasn’t disastrous. Just need to move ahead with a major change. Wish you well for the upcoming ones.
My birthday is March 13 in 22 Pisces and moon in 29 pisces both third house. Don’t know that much about eclipses so not sure what to expectat all
ah Solaia!….. take heart!
For the first time, I read this post of all the eclipse points.. .and they are NOT hitting my chart.
It’s been years of Pluto transits (opp and squares to many chart points) AND Pluto Solar Arc AND Pluto in my Solar chart…. with ascendant my Sun sign at 0.
I am very much still alive and have managed it all well enough… and continue to!
all the best! 🙂
Since last year even though I have a mutable chart with fire stellium, I felt like I was digging my foot into things, felt very fixed. I don’t know why, and reading this post confirmed something that whatever I failed to do in 2007, I think I really have to do something this year. My feeling was more that 2025 feels more like 1998/1999 (retrenchments, panic from the millennial bug, job loss) So I went and took a rough look, and it was Saturn into ARIES. Uranus and Neptune in Aquarius, Pluto in Sagittarius. Uncomfortable, but change is inevitable. Don’t worry, You will survive.
Not astrological, but I had to comment on the photo used for this article. It’s a beautiful and astonishing shot. Sometimes the visual universe comes together perfectly. Kudos to the photographer for seizing the moment.
I agree! Love that photo!
What springs to mind for the 14th March eclipse is Mexico which has its Sun at 22 Virgo.
Mexico also has Mars at 24 Leo, so has been feeling the full force of Uranus in Taurus for this past year.
Charubel says:
“A straight road, going in a direct line 1tp to a 9° Aries point from which lead a number of branch roads, parting in four different directions. There is a finger-Pust which points but one way—the primal way, the direct one, alluded to. This denotes one who will miss his way in life, but who will eventually recover, and will become a teacher of others, or may prove a reformer, either as a public speaker or writer. ”
24° Virgo
“A large assembly room. A large audience and 24° Virgo a man at the piano. An artistic person, an eloquent person, a musician, a popular person.”
One of the March eclipses is conjunct my South Node exact, the other is conjunct my Midheaven 2 degrees. Should be eventful.
Both of these paragraphs randomly resonated with me. So thanks for posting.
Thank *you*. I’m glad I helped. In pasting and correcting somehow “finger-post” became “finger-Pust”. And it should read “direct line up to a”.
Thanks for the corrections! Makes more sense. Still, even with those errors in place, it resonated with me.
My Ascendant is 23’40” Virgo. According to Charubel, I would read for 24° Virgo. I was a professional musician (piano and vocals) for over two decades. When Covid hit, I decided to change professions and found one that offered a similar way of structuring my time to which I’d become accustomed. Even before the pandemic, I’d already been paring back my gigs because of a growing family that needed me at home more. These days I only play out about 3-4 times a month, which is actually more than I want to right now (a friend of mine begged me to continue to do a particular gig with him and I acquiesced). Usually jazz during dinner hours, 6-9pm.
Just this past Saturday, I accompanied a friend of mine on piano at a casino gig in Atlantic City, NJ. And out of the few gigs I have booked for March, one of them is on March 14!
Some have said that I’m eloquent and articulate. I’d never call myself popular, but I think I’m well liked by a good number of people. Both my Mercury and my Midheaven are in Gemini (16’08” and 22’40”, respectively). My South Node is also in Gemini at 0’55” (North, of course, in Sagittarius at 0’55”). Should be an interesting experience from March on through 2026, especially with Uranus and Neptune bouncing back and forth between signs.
Thanks for sharing the Charubel reference.
Amy and starless,
That’s so nice to hear, and I’m so glad I helped!! Always somehow felt drawn to other systems of zodiac degrees apart from Sabian, which can sometimes be woolly, nebulous, and not really palpable.
Thanks El Aznar,
What Charubel says about 9 deg Aries is interesting. What is your thoughts on the eclipse conjunct natal Mars?
So the impact chart reveals that the total lunar eclipse might affect those with something in the last decan of Pisces (as an opposition), last decans of Gemini and Sagittarius (as a square) and, perhaps, as a quincunx those with something in the last 10 degrees of Aries and Aquarius. Trines are the other two Earth signs, Taurus and Capricorn.
The partial solar eclipse, on the other hand, might affect those with something around (5–15)° Libra as an opposition, (5–15)° of Cancer and Capricorn as a square and (5–15)° of Virgo and Scorpio as a quincunx. Trines are Leo and Sagittarius. All based on the position of the Moon.
Thanks for looking over this. I’ve got my Mars essentially exact conjunct Pallas in the last decan of Pisces (both 25’49”). As per my reply to your Charubel post, I’ve got my Midheaven at Gemini 22’40”. Also have Chiron in Aries at 25’47”.
As far as the partial solar eclipse, I’ve got Pluto in Libra at 6’45”, Venus in Cancer at 6’41”, and Saturn in Cancer at 15’16”.
March should be an interesting month.
