January 6 – rerunning old battles

Trump is threatening the January 6 Capitol Hill riot investigation committee members with prison in the same breath as he insists he will pardon the convicted lawbreakers.

This is the rapidest look at four relevant charts. Liz Cheney, 28 July 1966 11.57pm Washington, DC, with tr Neptune conjunct her Saturn throughout 2025 won’t be anything but uncertain and discouraged in the immediate future. Though her Solar Arc Jupiter conjunct her Pluto and then Uranus late 2026 and 2027 looks like a lucky break of considerable proportions. No telling quite what will lift her spirits but she will be on better form.

Adam Schiff, another Jan 6 Committee member, 22 June 1960 6.13 am Framingham, MA, looks equally undermined in 2025 with tr Neptune Saturn square his Cancer Sun Venus and that extends into 2026 alongside a devastating SA Pluto conjunct his Neptune. He also has tr Pluto square his Mars for a trapped 2025 and continues on to square his Mars/Neptune and then Neptune right through the next administration. None of which he will enjoy.

What is marginally curious -if the dates are sound – are that neither the Proud Boys, 5 September 2016, or the Oath Keepers, 22 October 2009, some of whose members were incarcerated, look cheered. The Proud Boys will be blocked across the Inauguration with tr Saturn square the Mars and although tr Uranus will trine their Jupiter for a hint of cheer before mid year, tr Neptune opposes Jupiter as well for high hopes dented through till early 2026.

The Oath Keepers look even less enlivened with an uncertain tr Neptune opposition the Saturn till early 2026; a muddled tr Uranus square Neptune later this month to mid March 2025; a seriously blocked and aggravated tr Pluto opposition their Mars in 2025/26; and tr Saturn Neptune square the Pluto undermining their influence in 2025/26.

  1. Trump can invoke the Insurrection Act of 1798 against his perceived domestic enemies and install martial law on Day One, with tanks rolling in the streets and little or no judicial control. He can use the FBI and the Justice Department to harass and hack Democratic congressmen and senators. His executive orders can change American society almost overnight. They will be far in excess of the law but will take years to wind through the judicial system with no positive outcome guaranteed. Meanwhile, they will be enforced. Right now, I think many Americans are understandably in denial over what is to come soon. Dramatic events around the Mars-Pluto opposition of January 3 should be a wake-up call.

    • Andre! There you go again. You need to get your paranoia under control. It may not be pleasant but Trump does not signal the end of times.

        • My take is prepare for the worst, just in case, but hope for better. His last administration — and his current transition as well — was characterised by constant infighting, incompetence, grifting and corruption, which doesn’t play well with the public suffering from continuing inflation and loss of purchasing power. Most of his choices for his cabinet, like the Christian Nationalist Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense, are especially unqualified and, even if confirmed, will encounter major push-back.

I’m expecting a huge amount of chaos and opposition to his proposals which the thin margins in the Congress won’t be able to impose, as well as opposition from the business community to his tariffs and mass deportation of their essential workers, especially in agriculture, construction, healthcare and hospitality.

Even many of his own judges retain a sense of judicial right and have ruled against his excesses and extreme legal demands.

Yes, he can do a lot with executive orders — especially produce chaos, which he thrives on.

The other key question is how long his tenuous health holds up, both mental and physical. And J.D. Vance, who would take over from him, is likely more competent but also unpopular.

So — wait and see, and gird for widespread opposition.

      • Agree Marjorie, I’m sometimes appalled at what a few here conjure up. None of this will happen. Trump will probably issue pardons and I especially hope so for the couple going to prison today for the simple act of praying outside the gates. Many other similar stories.

        • @Maggie: Concur w/Anita’s take. All hat and no cattle… 😉

He wants to dbl down on removing birthright citizenship…but that’s a Constitutional amendment change. Not a simple “squeeze ’em till they squeal ” reaction. Road race meets brick wall.

But he can certainly create havoc in other venues.

  2. From ‘The Art of the Deal’, by one DJT:

“The final key to the way I promote is bravado. I play to people’s fantasies. People may not always think big themselves, but they can still get very excited by those who do. That’s why a little hyperbole never hurts. People want to believe that something is the biggest and the greatest and the most spectacular. I call it truthful hyperbole. It’s an innocent form of exaggeration, and a very effective form of promotion.”

So there you have it. Mr Uranian Trickster’s not so secret philosophy! And here’s a Gemini nugget:

“I never get too attached to one deal or one approach. For starters, I keep a lot of balls in the air, because most deals fall out, no matter how promising they seem at first.”

  3. Unless he is going to call some kind of kangaroo court, or lock them up without any form of trial which of course will show that the US is really bordering on becoming a dictatorship, I call his bluff = all talk

And of course I could be very wrong but my gut says not. If I am wrong then I pray for the US and there will be mass emigration to follow

    • Trump could closed the borders w/o cause…invoking some kind of national crisis or executive order for folks to show cause to leave. Most americans would simply “take vacation” and not return. It’s that easy.

      • I did read on BBC News yesterday I think that he said in an interview he is going to hit the ground running and will be signing many exec orders from day 1 in the chair (paraphrased of course).

        • Same here. He can issue executive orders…but if they conflict w/existing legal protocols, he’ll find it difficult to gain traction. Throwing people in jail is only bully-boy stuff. Then they’ll be freed for lack of due cause or denial of due process.

He talks a lot (look at how I’ll drain the swamp) but has few accomplishments.
