Lovely!
Site changes are happening slowly but surely and I (we) are pleased to hear all your comments. What tends to be forgotten in the great, greedy, everything-for-free net era is that design changes cost money and time (which is also money). The content is free and the ads barely cover running costs. So it will get there, just not overnight. The old site cost an arm and a leg nearly 20 years back but those were the giddy days of dot com delusional hopes. It proved stalwart but regrettably the technology turned it into a dinosaur. Frankly it’s a miracle it survived as long as it did. This Mark 11 site is still finding its feet and in this messy year of uncertainty and general chaos nothing will move at the speed any of us want. Be cool. And do keep sending in constructive comments as well as astro-thoughts.
I like blue…
P.S. I don’t see either relevance or beauty in the photo… what’s the point of it?
At the moment the effect is sad, plus the tedious way the articles are mounted all summed up don’t make the site visually very attractive. To read an article, it has to be continued on another page, then go back to the main page to continue other articles, etc. Really not an easy site. I agree with Adam about just eliminating the background, and changing the layout.
Great idea love the posts!
Hello, Marjorie –
A couple of things…
1) Is there a reason for keeping the heavy blue background?
2) As you’re running on WordPress already, why not make it more of a magazine-style layout? There’s a responsive theme called SmartMag which looks a lot lighter and brighter, and is also very usable in mobile form.
