Philip Green – outed in parliament

Philip Green, the retail billionaire, once the darling of Tony Blair and David Cameron, has been named in Parliament as the businessman accused of sexual and racial abuse of staff which the Telegraph were prevented from printing by a legal injunction, having spent five months researching the story. Parliamentary privilege overrides such manoeuvres. He is chairman of Arcadia Group, a retail company that includes Topshop, Topman, Wallis, Evans, Burton, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins, and Outfit – and has a long history of controversies including tax avoidance, use of sweat shops and the calamity over the collapse of BHS.

On the latter a Westminster report said that BHS (British Home Stores) was subject to “systematic plunder” by former owners Sir Philip Green, Dominic Chappell and their respective “hangers-on”. It said the “tragedy” of the £571 million hole in the pension fund was the “unacceptable face of capitalism”.

Green, 15 March 1952, was born 4 days before Harvey Weinstein so has the same Sun Pisces and Mars in Scorpio square Pluto.  Mars in Scorpio is tricky enough, making for a dark intensity of desire. In a ruthless, do-or-die determined square to Pluto it doubles up the damage. It’s even more evident for Green since his Sun is trine Mars; and on the apex of an ego-centric Yod to Neptune sextile Pluto. Green also has an intensely passionate Scorpio Moon; and Venus in Aquarius opposition Pluto which can be dictatorial in emotional relationships.

He’s also got an innovative focal point Uranus in Cardinal Cancer square Mercury in Aries opposition Saturn – so a tendency to push against boundaries and can be both a reformer as well as a catalyst for chaos, and autocratic.

His 9th Harmonic, often strong when money is involved and deemed to show what gives the individual pleasure, is eye-poppingly strong with Jupiter Pluto Uranus conjunction trine Saturn; with an accented Neptune as well.

He looks rattled and confused through 2019 but most of this will slide like water off a duck’s back.  Though the businesses under his chairmanship may find themselves boycotted until they ditch him.

  1. Thank you Marjorie. That’s interesting, the proximity to Weinstein. You say Mars in Scorpio is tricky and the desire nature is intense. I have Mars, Merc, Moon and Neptune as a stellium in Scorpio sextiling Pluto rising on Asc, just in the 12th. I do have a type of OCD and anxiety disorder, am intense beneath the surface but have never wanted to bully or abuse others. Is Mars-Pluto energy expressed differently in women?

    • I think women find it more difficult to handle Mars Pluto influences because it’s about command, control and compacted rage. And here it feels like a choice between two options – one is dominate and the other is submit. One shouldn’t generalise too much but women on the whole find it difficult to own power and anger – so they tend to attract Mars Pluto from the outside and feel betrayed or downtrodden.
A sextile is undoubtedly easier than a square – I’ve got a Mars Pluto sextile – and I find it easier to think of Pluto as influence rather than brute force. And in your case Neptune will also be a mellowing factor.
The problem comes from burying Mars Pluto and trying to be ‘nice’ – which doesn’t suit the energy. Off the top of my head Marie Colvin the late war correspondent and Christine Lagarde, the IMF head, both had/have Mars in Scorpio (conj Saturn) square Pluto. Marie Colvin chose to live hers out by putting herself in high-adrenaline, high-risk situations – which suits Mars Pluto since it has courage and resourcefulness. Christine Lagarde actually does wield power. Maggie Thatcher had Mars in Libra square Pluto, so ditto.
It’s an aspect you do have to do something with, more than most, or it causes problems.

      • I might add that people with these kind of aspects may “integrate” them through military service and/or sports. Or even by becoming litigators. I know a person who scores well over 50 points in Donna Cunningham planetary ruler test for both Pluto and Mars. He is a very successful business litigator, but really well liked outside courtroom.

Also, much of how Pluto/Mars would play depends on other aspects on the chart. There are always those Eagle Scorpios, and they truly hold themselves on highest standards of integrity among starsigns.

        • Thanks so much for your insights. Yes, it is a very difficult energy to handle and personally speaking, a life’s work. The feelings are so intense and dark and one feels that others would be horrified if only they could see beneath one’s surface. I do have an interest in criminal psychology, btw. I’ve also seen Mars-Pluto in the charts of surgeons and people who work with precision implements. Since the Weinstein scandal and looking at the charts of named offenders, I’ve noticed Mars-Pluto crops up with alarming regularity, Steven Seagal being yet another example.
