El Nino – Saturn square Neptune

Nasa has said that the effects of the current El Nino weather phenomenon could be as bad as those of 1998, the strongest on record. El Nino is a naturally occurring weather system which happens every two to seven years, bringing severe droughts and devastating flooding in different parts of the world.

Looking back to 1998, there was a Saturn square Neptune as there is now. Other particularly severe E Ninos:-  in 1972 there a Saturn opposition Neptune. In 1925 and 1891 there was also a Saturn square Neptune.

In two other years recorded as strong El Ninos, 1982 and 1875/6 there was a Saturn sextile Neptune which is weaker – so a less obvious connection. Though 1875 which oversaw droughts and great famine in India and China for three years after also had Saturn square Pluto at the start and Uranus square Pluto as well.

So the Saturn square Neptune uncertainty which is hanging around now, and continues until after mid 2016, may well in part be connected to the extreme weather patterns.

  1. Dear Marjorie,

Happy new year.Absolutely love your horoscopes, they’re very precise.
I preferred the old look since it was familiar. I guess we’ll like this too eventually. The “wrong date for your time zone” option is missing in the new site. Also I haven’t been able to read the daily birthday horoscope. My birthday is on the 6th Jan and I really look forward to read your birthday horoscopes.

    Regards,

    Ria

    • Kaja, I know what you mean. I always get bad-tempered when newspapers do a total redesign and curse for a week until I (sort of) settle to the new look. There will be tweaks and improvements as we go along; so just pitch in with suggestions. First thing is to get questions/comments box not linked to individual posts, since that will be less confusing and more like the old set-up.

  2. Thanks for the info about the Beryl Markham book, Marjorie and relieved that you have a new site and haven’t disappeared as a couple of days ago I couldn’t find you. Think a general comment box is a good idea. Happy New Year and looking forward to many more of your fascinating postings.

  3. Happy New Year Marjorie
Like Maggy the site has completely confused me, miss the old site. Sorry but had to say something. I use to enjoy the seamless news of today. So easy to follow. I won’t stay away, you are a complete delight to follow.

  4. Looks great, M, but took me two days to work out….don’t worry it’s me (I think) but it does look much more modern and visible. Well done, happy new year.

    • Thanks. Heavens it’s all very peculiar wrestling with new systems, never mind a new look. Will need to give comments a think. Maybe sometime into January put in a general comment box for questions etc. There may be a pause before your comments show since I have to ‘moderate’ them first – i.e. block spam.
