Barack Obama – ‘this is not America’

Barack Obama’s elastic finally snapped and he took the unusual step of issuing a full-throated indictment of his successor. He called Trump a “threat to our democracy” and a demagogue practicing the “politics of fear and resentment.”  He likened him to Roman Caesars who placated the mob with  bread and circuses. He said “demagogues promise simple fixes to complicated problems. They’ll promise to fight for the little guy…. They’ll promise to clean up corruption even as they plunder away.”

His relationship with Trump always was a major clash, with Trump’s bombastic, ego-centric Mars in Leo conjunct Obama’s reformist Uranus and North Node; and Trump’s under-hand, manipulative and contemptuous Pluto conjunct Obama’s Leo Sun.

Their relationship chart has a suspicious composite Saturn opposition Neptune in a can-be-fanatical and high-tension square to Uranus, North Node, Mercury, Sun; with an irritable composite Mars opposition Moon square Jupiter. The composite Uranus and Neptune are picking up challenging and pressured tr Pluto hard aspects from mid January 2019 onwards throughout the year, moving onto the square to the composite Saturn in 2020/21 which is bulldozer-meets-brickwall time – so it’ll be a long-drawn out, disruptive tussle.

Obama’s personal chart, time being absolutely accurate, looks heartened as the Mid Term results come in with tr Uranus trine his Jupiter/Midheaven midpoint. Jupiter is moving across his 10th house for twelve months from early November this year, which will see him taking a higher profile and successful role through 2019. Though he is facing an aggravating and frustrating battle from February 2019 onwards for two years with tr Pluto trine his 8th house Mars. He looks mighty relieved with a sudden lucky turn of events in July 2019 and again in spring 2020 with tr Uranus opposition his Sun/Jupiter.

What’ll be interesting to see is what happens when his Solar Arc Midheaven conjuncts his Saturn in a year’s time – Saturn either accompanies setbacks or consolidates past efforts to bring in a harvest, with a boosted reputation and increased respect. He doesn’t look too happy after the next Inauguration with tr Pluto conjunct his Saturn for two years.

  1. I would have junked this and may well start blocking this poster in future. But I do think it is important to grasp the degree of warped disinformation out there – which appeals to certain personality types and will have an effect on votes. Maybe Americans are more aware of the conspiracy websites than Brits are. But it is truly terrifying how gullible people are.
Someone contacted me a few days back asking how could I post on Obama’s chart without there being a birth certificate. I emailed back a copy of it. She said she would send it on to her US friends since they didn’t know it existed.
You forget how staggeringly ill-informed and mal-informed the vast majority of people are who don’t bother to widen their searches to check their wild fantasies against other sources.
It’s not that there aren’t and haven’t always been dirty dealings behind the arras but this kind of fevered conspiracy thinking is a certifiable paranoia no different from the old superstitious peasant mentality which in days gone by lived in permanent fearful dread of an all-powerful and malign THEM.
A good shrink and better pills might help.

    • Coincidentally I’ve been reading an article about the QAnon conspiracies this afternoon. It’s reminiscent of the medieval eschatological movements Norman Cohn explores in his excellent ‘Pursuit of the Millennium’. Nothing new under the sun.

Put aside your political bias and look at the evidence ?
What is Jeff Sessions doing behind the scenes with the aid of John Huber and Michael Horowitz why do they have 470 lawyers working with them ?
Why has a Military intelligence team joined the DOJ ?
Why did Lindsey Graham specifically ask Brett Kavanaugh about US civil and military law during his confirmation hearing ?
Why does DJT constantly berate JEff Sessions publicly ? It’s all a show ? They want the Democrats to support JS, soon you will see why
Why is JS called ‘the silent assassin ‘ ?
50,000 sealed indictments in the last year verify on DOJ website, this is not normal ?
A Grand Jury has been hearing evidence for the last 9 months ?
Eclipses /Coverups ? The biggest Political scandal of 20/21st century will soon come to light and it’s not going to be pretty..

  3. Just in case anyone hasn’t realized.
There are at least two Dorothys now
posting here.I did yesterday and today someone I strongly disagree with did.ln the future I will use another name to avoid any confusion. And aggravation.

  4. I Predict Barack Obama along with HRC will be tried for TREASON selling US secrets to China, Russia and Iran.
Also for racketeering/money laundering/human trafficking/ reckless actions which caused the death of US citizens ie Benghazi.
BO also signed FISA applications to spy on US citizens knowingly using false information to obtain such warrants.

    • It is uncertain. See the Wikipedia article on the Twenty-second amendment.

“[T]he 12th Amendment, ratified in 1804,… states, “But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States”. While it is clear that under the 12th Amendment the original constitutional qualifications of age, citizenship, and residency apply to both the president and vice president, it is unclear whether someone who is ineligible to be elected president could be elected vice president.”

Apparently “during Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, she jokingly said that she had considered naming Bill Clinton as her vice presidential running mate, but had been advised it would be unconstitutional.”

Michelle Obama can of course run for both the presidency or the vice-presidency.

      • Unmystic Mom, a reply to your reply to me. There was no “reply” button by yours, so this will have to do.

My comments about fatal flaws were specifically about the current Democrat party and their current leaders. Time itself will change that. As for the errors in our political system that I pinpointed, they are not as impossible to change as you think.

Was it impossible to change slavery? According to our laws and the governments in the southern states, it was. According to the courage and goodwill of ordinary people, it was not impossible. Was it impossible to change men’s minds and laws and give women the vote? Was it impossible to change the vast strangling web of laws in countless cities and towns, and in every state that denied civil rights in every way shape and form to people of color? Was it impossible to strike down a wall of prejudice and assure LGBT rights? “Impossible” is impossible in America, Ms. Mom.

  5. “He doesn’t look too happy after the next Inauguration with tr Pluto conjunct his Saturn for two years.”

That 12th house Saturn should have kept him from WH, right? I used to read about this a lot, because I thought I had this position, and interpretations are scary (turns out, my Saturn is 11th house, makes more sense too, since I didn’t have friends before I was a teenager and am now selfreliant in a sense I prefer to do things alone many times). So, I’m thinking Pluto might be related to the whole 12th house mess seen on that Chart (and Pluto MC). If a Democrat takes Presidency AND Democrats hold Houses, we could see large trials later on Russian Collusion. Obama was President when it started and he is, apparently, a fine Constitutional Lawyer. He would testify. Another scenario: Democrats will seek to bring Supreme Court Judges to 11 in order to contrast Conservative Judges nominated by Trump. Strong majority would allow that move. And I could see Obama championing this.

Any how, I don’t think he “snapped”, either. He knew what he did, when he did. Another thing about him is that he is a tremendous campaigner. People often forget what a heavy favorite for Democratic Candidacy Hillary Clinton was in 2007-2008. Social media was just breaking, but traditional media was certain she’d take it. Barack Obama was Junior Senator from Illinois, and had had his seat in one of the easiest races ever (RNC favorite had to withdraw, the replacement was almost Roy Moore terrible, and Illinois was bright blue). So people just didn’t see it. When he wan the nomination, some of the establishment Democrats actually endorsed McCain (that this would happen gained him his false RINO status among Tea Party and those inspired by Tea Party), because theh didn’t believe in Obama. But Obama ran a successful campaign based on registrating new voters. And this is, actually, what most successful Democratic candidates are doing now. Participation to Democratic primaries is up 20-30 per cent in many Districts. This has happened especially in California Districts “Leaning Red”. Obama visited California straight after speaking in Illinois – it’s clear they are expecting HUGE victory there (it helps that GOP Congressmen from this State include some of the worst individuals on The Hill).

    • I don’t think Obama snapped in the impulsive sense – more that events had got so out of hand that he felt obliged to step across the normal protocols and courtesies of former incumbents to speak forcefully.
GW Bush has Saturn in the 12th – I’ve always assumed it’s the absence of a good role-model father figure. It can breed inner strength and self-discipline and the ability to cope with inner loneliness.
Transiting Pluto moving through the 12th can be stuck or bring on internal depression from unresolved issues. But for those with maturity and hard-earned self-knowledge, it can bring unseen power and influence. Really it’s all part and parcel of that hidden natal Mars trine Saturn Jupiter of his being triggered. Tr Pluto moves trine his Mars in 2019/2020, which will be a bitter struggle; then conjunct his Saturn in 2021/22 which looks like a real slog, pushing boulders up mountains; and then finally tr Pluto conjunct his Jupiter by 2023/24 which will see the fruition of all his monumental effects.
With his Saturn coming before his Jupiter in that natal conjunction he’ll always hits the difficulties first and then the luck/success.
I wouldn’t be too sanguine – just off the top of my head – about a Democratic win in 2020

      • Really impressed with this analysis, Ms. Orr. The 12th house Saturn/father was spot on.
President Obama’s 2023/24 aspects—tr Pluto conjunct zero degree Jupiter in Aquarius—it should be electric, something never seen before, on top of the lingering Capricorn substrate.

Ruth Ginsburg’s parting gift: the opportunity to appoint Barack Obama to the Supreme Court.

        • “I wouldn’t be too sanguine – just off the top of my head – about a Democratic win in 2020”. Non-astrologically speaking, I agree.

I’m reading the Wikipedia article on the Reagan Democrats and guess what, the Reagan Democrats are precisely the people (white, non college educated), who used to be Democrat supporters, but who started moving away in the 1980s.

Quoting from the article, “He concluded that “Reagan Democrats” no longer saw the Democratic party as champions of their working class aspirations, but instead saw them as working primarily for the benefit of others: the very poor, feminists, the unemployed, African Americans, Latinos, and other groups.”

Bill Clinton and Obama to an extent won them back by becoming centrists. Bill Clinton could of course afford to do that as the Republicans under Newt Gingrich had gone so far to the economic right that they had ceded the central ground to Bill Clinton. Obama followed “W”, who at the time seemed so right-wing (he would possibly qualify as moderate now).

But what has the Democrats reaction been to the Trump agenda? They have gone even more to the left. Bernie Sanders & Elizabeth Warren may be too radical for the average American, even if they are too milquetoast for the fired-up millennial college going kid. Cory Booker and Kamal Harris may be the face to appeal to black and minority voters, but the white non-college educated voter will not feel represented by them.

If the Democrats become the party that represents only minorities, it is worth remembering that minorities do not win in an election. The Democrats needs to appeal to a trade-union/white working class base to win elections.

I agree with Marjorie that it is possible for Trump to win the 2020 elections.

As an aside to Candace Cornelia: William Taft has set the precedent for an ex-president becoming a (Chief) Justice of SCOTUS. So, it is not entirely impossible. But, as discussed above, I will not write Trump off just yet.

          • Unmystic Mom, Reagan was first elected in 1980. I won’t check that Wiki article, but it must mention Frank Sinatra as one of the first “Reagan Democrats”. Frank Sinatra died in 1998. While Reagan Democrats were a factor in Clinton election, they weren’ anymore in Obama’s first election. Obama wan by a massive engagement of newly registered voters. Hillary Clinton lost by these voters not turning to vote for her in 2018 (quoting out of my head, but Pennsylvania and Michigan didn’t go to Trump because of angry white men voting for him in massive numbers, they went to Trump because black vote was down considerably from Obama), they even were targeted by negative online campaigns Steve Bannon bought from Cambridge Analytica.

So, essentially, “white non-college educated” voters are dying out. Percentage of white people with a collage degree was up from 25 to 36 per cent in between 2016 and with “some education” is even higher. This isn’t a demographic that will not keep parties winning elections to the 2030’s.

          • Unmystic mom and Solaia, Your astute but different ways to look at what may happen in 2020, and what has happened in the past, were well worth reading.

Unmystic, a Supreme Court positon for President Obama would indeed be groundbreaking when his African heritage is considered. Not just African-American like Clarence Thomas, but fully half African. There will be more Presidents and African Americans on the Supreme Court if our democracy survives, but President Obama would be unique, perhaps for a long long time.

To turn to the 2020 election, I have my doubts too. There are fatal weaknesses that the Democrats either can’t do anything about, or won’t take advantage of.

President Putin and his 10 hackers. A committee of IT experts recently concluded that there is no electronic voting system that is unhackable, and they recommended a nationwide return to paper ballots.

The useless Electoral College. We all know that’s just a hustle, a con.

During Obama’s 2 year super-majority, the leadership in the Democratic party should have gone after the elimination of the Electoral College, stronger Federal voter protections with a specified number of polling places based on state county population, unified coast-to coast opening and closing times for voting, no reporters or news coverage allowed near the polls during voting hours, and a November 4 national voting holiday, and felony sentences for interfering with voting, including multi-year minimum federal penitentiary sentences.

In addition to this, there should be proportional reform of the number of electees to the House of Representatives and Senate. Nothing in the Founding Father’s Constitution requires 2 Senators from each state plus the current amount of Representatives. Each state should be given votes in Congress based on population, because this is a Democracy. A small state population has as much legislative pull in Congress as an enormous population in another state, and that is not democracy. Because of the way it is now, state’s senators and representatives can be game pieces to stop progressive legislation and kowtow to Big Money and foreign influence. Based on the current population of the US, the House should have at least 1400 Representatives, and the Senate at least 150 or more senators, which would stop Partisan obtructionism dead in it’s tracks.

          • This is a reply to Candace Cornelia’s post of 10th September 2018 at 10:34 pm.

The structural/constitutional changes that you suggest are nigh on impossible.

The Electoral College was intentionally put into the Constitution to ensure that the smaller states do not get sidelined, as was the equal representation in the Senate. When the United States was being formed, the larger states wanted representation according to size, while the smaller states wanted equal representation. The “Connecticut Compromise” was to have one house according to population size and the second with equal representation.

Even if Obama or a Democrat President were to have a majority in both Chambers, any constitutional amendment eliminating the Electoral College would require 3/4 of all state legislatures to agree. Practically impossible. An alternative plan “National Popular Vote Interstate Compact” is currently in progress. It requires states with 270 electoral votes (half the Electoral College) to sign up to it. But so far, only Democrat states (with 172 electoral votes) have signed up.

How Representatives are elected and electoral rules are determined by the states, not the federal government. That is because constitutionally, the states are responsible for conducting elections. It is the United STATES of America.

A last point about the number of Representatives. Research on the “cube root rule”. Broadly, the number of legislators should be in line with the cube root of the population. In the US, it is complicated by the states having a broad range of powers. But, by the cube root rule, the size of the US House of Representatives should be 688 or thereabouts.

Please google the terms in double quotes for more information.

Not being American, I know how the US system works a little too well 🙂

      • A Democrat will win in 2020, unless Trump runs. And he won’t run. Supported by much more “private” transits and SRs from 2020 on than now. I also remember there was something supporting divorce on his 2020/21 chart. This is not a part of the deal with Melania if he still is POTUS. Obviously, he could be locked to his bedroom at WH, but I doubt this too.

But, it will become increasingly hard for Republicans to win a National Election with their current policies practically denying race, because we’re at tipping point of “whites” becoming a minority in The US. “Non-whites” will already outnumber white among underaged population by 2020, and this is without further immigration. Old white men are building that wall for a reason.

    • The Twenty-Second Amendment to the US Constitution: “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice…”.

      • Pence could be a ten year president if Trump is removed next year. He might not be the Antichrist, but he would be the Anti-FDR.

In Vedic astrology, the US went into an 18 year Rahu major aspect in the 8th house, in November 2015. The aspects indicate the removal of a leader in 2019. Mueller? Trump? One of Trump’s many firings of his appointees? The last Rahu major was 1896 to 1914, when McKinley was assassinated, followed by progressive president Teddy Roosevelt.

  6. I really like reading your evaluations but wish you’d “speak English” when it comes to statements like “He doesn’t look too happy after the next Inauguration with tr Pluto conjunct his Saturn for two years”….can you explain this?

    • Looks like the Queen’s English to me. If it’s the astrological significance of Pl conj Saturn, then why not ask it in plain english?

      • Joan, there’s always Google. I go there or to Wikipedia if I want to know more after reading her posts. Leads me to fascinating things! We have the world at our fingertips, dear Joan.
