USA race tensions – the never ending saga

Racial frustrations and violence have broken out across many major cities in the US with curfews being imposed, sparked off by the death in Minneapolis of George Floyd, a black man, who died after being knelt on by a white police officer.

Los Angeles is one of the worst affected, where memories of the 1992 Rodney King beating are still raw, with the National Guard being called out. Nearly 1,000 protesters circled the perimeter of the White House grounds for the second night running, facing law enforcement vehicles, rows of armoured Secret Service, D.C. police, U.S. Park Police officers and National Guard.

Race riots happen not infrequently in the USA usually after police anti-black violence with a litany running backwards through 2016 Charlotte, NC; 2015 Baltimore; 2014 Missouri; 2001 Cincinnati; 1992 Los Angeles; 1980 Miami; 1968 – widespread after the assassination of Martin Luther King; 1967 Newark; 1965 LA etc etc. The Red Summer of 1919 triggered by white supremacist terrorist attacks spread out across the USA with hundreds of deaths.

But the recent mood has been inflamed by a divisive Trump with a history back to a Klu Klux Klan father, action against black tenants in their rental properties, his full-page ads condemning the Central Park 5 in New York which coincided with the wrongful imprisonment of five young black men on little evidence, his Obama “birther” smears and his refusal to condemn white supremacists in Charlottesville, Va.

Minneapolis, 10 July 1847 10.54am, Minnesota, has a Cancer Sun and Jupiter like the USA 1776 chart so is fairly representative of the nation. This month’s Cancer Solar Eclipse located there puts the New Moon on the IC, so it was always going to be a critical region. With the Eclipse also falling conjunct the Minneapolis Cancer Midheaven almost exactly. The July Lunar Eclipse at 13 degrees Capricorn/Cancer will also impact the Minneapolis and the USA respective Suns.

George Floyd, 14 October 1974, had a six-planet stellium in Libra of Sun, Uranus, Mars, Venus, Moon, Pluto in Libra most of those planets squaring onto Saturn in Cancer; with an idealistic, sympathetic Jupiter in Pisces square Neptune. According to press reports he was ‘an amiable, gentle giant’.

Derek Chauvin, the police officer who has been charged with his manslaughter has a long record of brutality complaints, none of which had led to action against him. Born 19 March 1976, he’s a last degree Pisces Sun square Mars at zero degrees Cancer and trine Saturn. His Mars is trine Uranus and widely square Pluto, so he is impulsive and overly excitable; with an adventurous and opportunistic Jupiter opposition Uranus. Plus an intense Scorpio Moon.

Floyd’s Pluto was opposition Chauvin’s Sun and square his Mars – so a gritty interface. And their relationship chart had a struggle-for-the-upper-hand composite Pluto opposition Jupiter square Sun.

Chauvin’s chart has his volatile Sun square Mars moved by Solar Arc to aspect his Scorpio North Node exactly at the moment; as well as this month’s Cancer Eclipse stoking up his natal Mars in Cancer into a more aggressive mood than usual, spoiling for a fight.

George Floyd had his Sun Mars moved by Solar Arc to approach within a degree of the conjunction to his Neptune. Two Mars and two different outcomes.

There’s nothing much new to say about the USA chart except that tr Pluto is sitting exactly on the opposition to the USA Mercury at the moment and will repeat on and off till late 2021, with more as the Pluto Return follows till late 2023 – that will produce more toxic and bitter debates even than usual. Tr Neptune has just moved to 20 degrees Pisces within a few minutes of a degree to the square to the USA Mars. By late this month it moves to within a hair-breadth of the exact aspect, though it won’t reach the same degree until late March 2021. Neptune hitting Mars usually evokes a sense of panicky failure.

If the USA birth time of 11am is sound (and there are various USA start times which is a running irritation) then the Solar Arc Mars is exactly conjunct the Moon which would point to a combustible situation and an angry popul

  1. Thanks to Matthew Parris in the Times for:
“I wish Robin Williams were alive today to remind us what he once said about the USA: that Canada was like a “really nice apartment over a [crystal] meth lab.”

  2. “Look at the sky turn a hell-fire red/Somebody’s house is burnin'”.
Jimi Hendrix – “House Burnin’ Down”.

He wrote that song in reference to the assassination of Martin Luther King Jnr, and the riots
which took place after that terrible incident in April 1968.

Fifty-two years later, nothing has changed.

America is now is viewed with sorrow, at its’ financial and moral decline.

    • Ditto Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On?”. It was released nearly half a century ago and as relevant today.

      • Yes, I listened to Marvin Gaye – such infinite sadness in that song. And even more when listening to it today. Marvin Gaye had Sun conjunct Mercury and Saturn in Aries. Will that resonate with the Mars in Aries for six months?

Yet the roots of all this rage, misery and oppression are so old and so deep – and include so many riots, fighting between groups of migrants, and of course the terrible violence towards the Native Americans. This Wikipedia page on mass racial violence in the US is deeply disturbing really. Of course there is violence throughout history, everywhere. When will we never learn?

      • Virgoflake, I suggest that you check out “Curtis” by Curtis Mayfield from 1970.
It predates “What’s Going On” by eight months, and addresses the same concerns.

It is beautiful and heartbreaking, especially “From The Other Side Of Town”.

Curtis’ “Back To The World” is an overlooked gem which discusses the issues of
African-American soldiers who returned from Vietnam.

  3. Floyd and Chauvin worked together, as security in a club. Nothing yet has been said about any tension between them then, but if there was, it will come out at Chauvin’s trial. Note Marjorie’s interpretation of their relationship chart.

  4. would you reopen your business? would you go back to work?( when they flash take over the subway). what happens to coumo’s plans to bring NYC workers back to work.? NYC could go under.

  5. This video is from Anna Kendrick’s Twitter feed showing just how heavy-handed the police are being. Utterly disgusting behavior from them! I guess to be a great candidate for an American police officer you have to be a racist or violent thug (better yet, both) because, ultimately, it is a country where you get off scot-free in most cases and rehired back to the force. Despicable ideology to have.

    Anna Kendrick’s Twitter video:

  6. White supremacist groups are conducting a lot of the looting and burning in an attempt to stoke white fear and bring on what they call the “boogaloo”—a civil war based around race—for which they have been stocking up arms. I love visiting this site to explore what people on the fringes are thinking about, astrology itself not generally being a mainstream topic. I feel like the remarks here usually circle the elephant in the room: Will America still be a democracy come, say, 2024-25? That is really what’s on the line.

    • Steve, I think the following quote which Robert Jones posted further down this page sums it up perfectly to the point I have to re-post. I guess the bottom line is there is a process that a civilization has to go through and the birth of the USA did not.

‘ “America is the only nation in history which miraculously has gone from barbarism to degeneration
without the usual interval of civilization.” – Georges Clemenceau

The idea of America is far better than the dismal reality. ‘

Majorie I think has mentioned a number of times in posts about the astrology of the USA that correlates (in my mind) to some kind of collective delusion. I think the astrology shows it up, anyone can remind us? Or have I interpreted incorrectly? Thanks

      • USA Mercury opposition Pluto – Mercury thinks thoughts. Pluto gets a death grip on them and won’t let go, so it becomes (in the negative manifestation), impervious to rational argument. The polar opposite of tolerant.

        • Thanks Marjorie

So Steve…. before anything can change, as a country they need to collectively come to terms with and overcome that obstacle.., before any change can happen towards the ‘democracy’ you mention. Further, are we really living in a ‘democracy’ as defined? Maybe the West has more than most but … hmmm! My take is, if it is not a duck, no matter how much it quacks like a duck doesn’t make it a duck! My 2 cent worth.

  7. Isn’t it interesting that the POLICE officer’s wife has so quickly filed for dissolution of their marriage? Not only was Chauvin an officer with a long list of abuse complaints against him, it seems to me he could’ve been a domestic abuser as well? Looks like this tragic event was also a way out for her. A lot more will be revealed. For example does anyone really believe that this was the first time this officer put his knee on a neck?

      • 100 per cent concur. I also only now realized there’s a Mars conjunct Neptune upcoming. It will be exact on June 13th, I think, when it’s also going to be joined by Pisces Moon. Therefore, it’s hard for me to see significant de-escalation of the situation prior to that.

It also occured to me that one aspect really setting these protests apart is the wide availability of good quality audio and video recording equipment and larger memory capacities in phones. These have really come long way even since 2014 Fergusson protests. And they can be used more freely, at least for now, than in many authoritarian countries. We’re going to get several angles of all these happenings, but also wide manipulation.

    • Bio: Mrs. Chauvin is from Laos, and spent time in a Thailand refugee camp. In 2018 she was Mrs. Minnesota. In pageant interviews she said Chauvin was a big softie, a gentleman, who fulfilled all her requirements for a perfect man. They have no children.

      • This would be very on brand. “I’m not racist, I have an Asian wife” is the stable defenses of racist thugs around my neck of the wood. For instance, take Soldiers of Odin founded here during the migrant crisis in 2015 that has/had affiliates in many countries. There were so many early members with Thai wives they had a chapter in Pattaya. When journalists and antiracist groups started digging on their backgrounds, they found high incidence of domestic violence convictions.

    • I agree with your suspicions regarding domestic abuse, however there’s more to what’s happening here. I’m an attorney, and as such can tell you that this maneuver is a legal strategy often used to protect assets. If the couple divorced then the defendant no longer has marital assets which can be attached later in the civil suit. He may then qualify for his attorney to he appointed at the taxpayer’s expense.

  8. My tuppence worth is that if you treat people badly some out of frustration will turn to violence. If that violence is met with retaliating violence rather than resolving the unfairness and it gets bred into a generation or two then society has an intractable problem on its hands – as we Brits learned to our cost in Northern Ireland – and there’s a similar scenario with the Palestinians. Those toxic hotspots which start in justified rage then tend attract serial psychopaths as well as professional agitators, some of whom will be agents provocateurs. And the whole thing escalates into an unholy mess at which point ordinary people who just want peace and quiet back off.

    • 400 years of oppression of black, brown and yellow skinned people demands payback (and that’s just the USA). We (almost) all want peace. But until there is true equality everywhere, we will keep fighting for it…there is no easy fix. It begins with each individual, from the heart, doing their human revolution, that’s an internal battle. We battle on for human rights. Some will never get over a lifetime of privilege, tough.

    • Posting this here, as well:

    • From Wikipedia:

“On Memorial Day in 1927, the Ku Klux Klan marched in Queens to protest Protestant American citizens being “assaulted by Roman Catholic police of New York City.”[19] Trump and six other men were arrested “on a charge of refusing to disperse from a parade when ordered to do so.”[20][21] All seven arrested were referred to as “berobed marchers” in the Long Island Daily Press; Trump was the only one not held on charges.”

Ironic, isn’t it? Fred Trump was arrested for protesting police brutality with KKK. Or maybe not, since it seems several “Alt-Right” groups have infiltrated current protests. But it’s truly stunning how little has changed in 93 years.

    • And his grandfather owned a brothel. They are only 3 generations into the United States. Not here very long. His older brother was an airline pilot and an alcoholic who died young. I say we need to look closely at Trump’s Saturn again.

  9. Floyd’s Sun Uranus makes me think that he might have died to start (or jump-start?) a revolution (Uranus). Like… it was meant to be (it’s just an hiphotesis, just me thinking aut loud)-

  10. Mars in Aries from June to January 2021 suggests that this is just the beginning. It impacts on this chart here, for Minneapolis, and also on the USA founding chart. Mars in Aries acts impulsively, and is a fighter. As far as I can see, there is so much anger that’s been brewing, and erupting, for so long it really does need to be purged as Jay suggests. But when are things ever so straightforward? What’s happening is so disturbing and sad, yet not a surprise.

I agree with others here that this may help Trump’s “campaign”. No wonder he is busy with incendiary tweets.

    • Yes, and Mars will be transiting the USA 4th July chart’s 4th house which will in turn square Venus, Jupiter and the Sun in Cancer, then opposing Saturn in Libra. That Mars is in Aries for almost 6 months is deeply worrying when you see who’s in charge.

As Journalist John Heilemann stated, the US is a tinderbox and Trump is a pyromaniac.

      • Hi Marjorie, sorry I may have missed it but how does George’s chart match up with the US natal chart?

I just keeping thinking this that we see is not about him but he was the trigger to this, that created this explosion. Especially when so many have gone before by the same or similar means.

The other curiosity I have is what Trump’s chart looks like in comparison to the Civil Rights Movement in America (outside of all the family dynamic stuff). Just a thought!

Thanks for your time and energy. So interesting the way astrology makes sense of what is not understood on a surface level!!!!

  11. Applying intellect to raw, previously denied, and repressed, rage is irrelevant. The rage needs to be purged.

Does that need to happen by burning the life’s work of others? No.

But it’s raw. It’s real and apparently, it’s very much here.

    • Minorities must remember that in a democratic state, they need at least a part of the majority to agree with them. They must necessarily turn the other cheek and swallow their pride, how much ever they hate doing so.

That paragraph is almost laughable if it weren’t so defeatist.

      • Sorry Tia
My response below to Kati’s response to Solaia planted itself here strangely.

But in response to the quote and your comment above I think the built up frustration and fear has turned to rage because ‘how much are they expected to bear’ . Who next? When does it stop? Some black children as young as 10 have had experiences, girls and boys. And the narrative they all doing something wrong is not correct.

        • The basic concept in de-escalating a conflict is to take in account deep rage and pain parties are feeling. Then decide the best way to hear them and meet their needs. It seems this is NOT done in many places in The US now.

          • Thanks Solaia
I think the fact that it has to be a consideration (as though these people don’t own the same ‘humanship’ like the dominant populace in these countries where they were born and bred) is in itself a part of the problem!!??

This is no longer about George, but about the racial inequality which has now come down to life or death (when we all regardless of race or creed have to deal with everything else that is going on in life in general). When is too much, too much, for those in the position?

      • “They must necessarily turn the other cheek and swallow their pride, how much ever they hate doing so.”

A lot of them would argue that they’ve been doing nothing else but just THAT, for generations.

        • Exactly the point and why we are where we are .

I don’t condone it but rage is not logical. This is pure emotion. Deep seated, stuffed down and fermenting now spewing out this.

  12. It’s no small irony that anyone at all would look to Trump as a bastion of order and security. He is in fact the epitome of chaos personified.

Biden has a real opportunity to distinguish himself in the moment. This really shouldn’t even be a debate for Americans, but Trump already happened once before, in 2016.

They stepped in poo once. Will they be wise enough not to do so again?

  13. There was a good article on the front page of the NY Times this morning about the difference between protest – which is perceived as good and Riot which is destructive and perceived as bad. I live 1 hour west of Baltimore, and I used to go there all the time. I have not gone there but once or twice since the Riots, and there is thought here that the Riots in Ferguson and Baltimore helped Trump win. The sad thing is that frequently the businesses that are destroyed are owned by local black people and this destruction does no one especially the community any favors. I have taken several interviews in Baltimore (did not accept offers) and drove through neighborhoods still boarded up and destroyed by riots in the 60’s. The destruction is self destructive and does nothing to help. Like I said, I used to go there, but it now has the highest death rate per capita in the USA surpassing NYC and Detroit. The riots did not help, they hurt. Investment and money will flee unsafe situations. Baltimore is 63% black.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/12/magazine/baltimore-tragedy-crime.html

    • As I recall the riots in mid 1960s USA are cited as one of the reasons Richard Nixon got elected in 1968 along with his promise to get out of Vietnam.

      • Difference: Nixon personally met anti-War protesters. DJT is hiding at a bunker and tweets about China (apparently, his staff has stopped him from tweeting). Also, US Economy was steady and not really an issue during that cycle. And, as stated various times, US is much more racially diverse now than in 1968. “Segregating” oneself has become much more difficult, too. Laws banning interracial marriage were only definitely overturned by Loving v. Virginia in 1967, and I remember there were even some “liberal” states carrying these laws well into 1960’s. By 2010, 15 per cent of new marriages were interracial.

I do agree current events are related to 1966 and 1993, but I tend to see these events as a progression. The narrative with white protesters – both extreme right provocateurs and extreme left – being “rioters” and “causing trouble” is just one of many. There are, in fact, countless examples of white people peacefully and respectfully siding with black protesters. Joe Biden knelt with what seemed like a black father and his child. Tiny white girls sheltering black protesters using what black activists call their “white priviledge”. Numerous police chiefs in more ethnically diverse communities showing up to talk to people. No doubt there are difficult times ahead, but I think much will be achieved, too.

      • “I am not sure how this helps race relations at all, or why destroying something created by a member of the community somehow hurts the policing or white community. I don’t get it.”

Kati, with all due respect, what do you think will help “race relationships”? In other words, police frequently using eccessive power on Black Americans, killing them in process. Now respectful, peaceful protestors as well, given how there are tons of footage on the police driving SUVs on protesters or even using the same technique that killed George Floyd to surpress people who just refuse to get moved around your country.

I would also like to point out that while you, as a presumably white person, can resolve your issues on feeling physically unsafe by simply not going to certain parts of your town, black people, and black men in particular, in your community do not have this luxury. Not living in The US I don’t, personally, know too many Black Americans. But of the few I know, at least three have directly quoted them personally, or their loved ones, being harrassed by the police as the main reason for them leaving The US. Yes, there is racism everywhere, and my country has police force full of Nazi symphatizers I’ve personally seen throwing “Antifa” counterprotestors doing nothing but drumming to cover a local “Proud Boy” type rally. But still, these people somehow feel safer here than in The US.

        • Wow. I have worked for a Black Man from NJ for over four years, and he was the best boss I have ever had. I have worked side by side with 10 born again christian black men in Memphis Tennessee for four years as their team mate, engineer, collegue and friend. Please do not preach to me anything about race relations. You don’t live here. The point I was making was peaceful protests have disintegrated into destruction which will help no one. As far as what can be done with race relations- let’s start with RESPECT. Talk to me when you have actually worked in the situations I have worked in, instead of judging us from your little island from afar. We have a joke in the States that sort of lines up with what you said “I had a friend once, and he was black. He was sort of nice.” If you don’t get the joke – you don’t get the States.

          • That’s not nice Kati

Everyone has an opinion and a resolution from their side of life. However is anyone really asking the black man and woman what it feels like to swallow the hirt and anger at being targeted just because of their colour? And if not them some family member whether tin general, througj work etc? Watching their children growing up helpless, some angry dependent on their socio economic background. Feeling like the deck os stacked against them? Mothers scared when fathers brothers sons leave the house becuase…..

Let’s not start the ‘i know 5 or 10 black people so i know’ argument please. Cause my guess is you will always see it from your perspective, your conditioning, and your experience without ever walking in their shoes. The Black American experience is much more acute because the system is set in a way to still hold many in bondage mentally and emotionally. Thanks much (and I am ‘black’ )

          • @Kati, I feel like you missed my point here entirely. If I’m not even American, but have, casually, over the years, met several Black Americans who’ve specifically told they left the country because of the stress caused by police harrassment, the experience must be very widespread. The stories I heard very much reflect what Jennifer E. describes, too. These people are, BTW, all what you’d call “expats”, too. They are professional people with at least graduate degrees. One is son of a now deceased Professor at a TOP20 University. What really strikes me is the stark contrast to White American expats I know – and there are so many more of them – for citing reasons for NOT living in The US. White Americans who gravitate towards Nordic countries tend to be “Liberals”, but I’ve yet to hear one of them telling they left The US because they were summarly arrested and detained for days on bogus claims and wouldn’t want to risk ending up in prison or dead the next time. Which is literally the first such story I heard, back in 1996, but still remember because it sounded so wild at the time.

Also, while I’m not living in The US, I’ve been there and liked being there. However, it took my husband and I literally a day renting an apartment at Lake Worth area to understand our white priviledge. The area is very diverse, but once you pass Boynton Beach Bridge to Barrier Island side, only POC you see are mowing lawn. That’s because there are police cars on both sides of the bridge. We were never stopped, but my husband, who’d bicycle to a local bar, actually saw them stopping a black guy on bicycle before him. Not him, though.

        • The other thing you don’t understand Kati, is that there is something about the black person being very good at compartmentalizing. So we will go into work put on our very best face and get on with life. Likewise, the few you know will come to work, or even just out in public, and be in ‘work or public’ mode and you will never know what is going on in their personal lives. So your statement or study, or whatever you want to call it is flawed. Just saying!!! (and yes, I am black).

  14. Sorry to keep going on about Saros cycles but I notice that 2020 is exactly 54 years since 1966. It means 2019-2021 is the exelgimos or turning of the wheel for the eclipse period 1965-1967 which saw large numbers of race riots in the USA including Watts, Hough, Chicago and Detroit. Similar series of eclipses in similar positions giving similar results ?

I watched some of the 2016 videos online commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Hough riots in Cleveland. Rather depressingly some of the building burned down in that event are still derelict now half a century later so little progress at all in the interim. I am not sure how far US party politics impacts these events as the 1960s riots occurred during LBJs Great Society period of legislation and many of the current riots are in cities and states which the Democrats have run for decades.

  15. I’m going to go out on a limb here, but I agree with a tweet that I saw yesterday that just as the current disturbances in the US will cause the Democrats to coalesce, it will also cause white people who are worried about a breakdown of law-and-order to hold their nose and vote Trump. It might become a recruiting agent for Trump as much as the Democrats.

It seems that Trump knows that, which is why there have been a few tweets about white people participating in the protests who are causing the looting and damage and destruction, while the blacks in the protests have been trying to hold them back, saying, sometimes explicitly, that the violence will get blamed solely on them.

      • Thank you, Kati.

Here is another quote, from Politico.com, which I think is fairly balanced in its coverage, which highlights the dangers for Democrats in these riots.

“Mike Erlandson, a former chairman of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, said he watched with his 15-year-old daughter in Minnesota this week as a man spray-painted on a wall, “F–k the white people from the suburbs.”

“I do think that, particularly if this continues, the [congressional] districts like Dean Phillips’ district or Angie Craig’s district that right now I would say are relatively safe for the Democratic incumbent, could be very much in play,” he said. “Both of those districts will be decided in large part by suburban women voters, and it would be hard for me to imagine those people aren’t watching this scared, like everybody else, for their family and for their children.””

Minorities must remember that in a democratic state, they need at least a part of the majority to agree with them. They must necessarily turn the other cheek and swallow their pride, how much ever they hate doing so.

Hugh Fowler pointed, in comments on another article on thei website, how these riots have echoes the ones in the 1960s, immediately after MLK’s assassination. It is worth remembering that that was followed by the election of Nixon, a Republican, as white voters fled to safety and harsher laws.

These riots make Trump’s reelection more likely.

On another note, Prof. Larry Sabato, a noted psephologist, remarked earlier today on the chances of black swan events following one after the other this year; pandemic, economic collapse and race riots so fast one after the other. Does anybody want to speculate about what black swan event will likely happen next (Trump’s reelection does not count)?

        • When riots took place in America over the beating of Rodney King by police
officers in 1992, it was during the year of Presidential re-elections.

George Bush Snr lost to Bill Clinton in November.

With 41 million people unemployed and 100,000 dead from COVID-19, I doubt
Trump will survive the catastrophic series of events that have hit his shambolic
administration. This incident is the final nail in his political coffin.

          • Also, apparently, WH went unlit and DJT was pulled to bunker Sunday Night in Washington. They already put a “press lid” to Trump after the rocket launch on Saturday, where he was caught refusing to shake hands with a Military person. Trump hasn’t still addressed The Nation on TV. I don’t know how going MIA is helping Trump, at all.

        • Black swan event: Hurricanes. Trump will make states close shelters, leading to 5 figure death tolls.

Honestly, with this regime in charge, the possibilities for disaster and deliberate evil-doing are endless. Anyone can be Nostradamus.

        • “Minorities must remember that in a democratic state, they need at least a part of the majority to agree with them. They must necessarily turn the other cheek and swallow their pride, how much ever they hate doing so.”

I think that what we, as white people, must realize is that when we are speaking about The US minorities here, we are not talking about 5 or 10 per cent of people, but what’s projected to be nearer to 40 per cent of The US population in 2020 Caucus. This is up from 30 in the last caucus. So, maybe it’s not up to “others” to “swallow their pride” and let what a minority keep on killing them, but for “us” to listen and understand where this anger comes from and then act. Make sure we don’t accept systematic police brutality. If you are not in The US, as I’m not, open your eyes on what’s happening on backyard, because I’m certain your forces have issues too.

Also, this quote from that “impartial” Politico article truly made my spit my coffee:

“Mike Erlandson, a former chairman of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, said he watched with his 15-year-old daughter in Minnesota this week as a man spray-painted on a wall, “F–k the white people from the suburbs.

I do think that, particularly if this continues, the [congressional] districts like Dean Phillips’ district or Angie Craig’s district that right now I would say are relatively safe for the Democratic incumbent, could be very much in play,” he said. “Both of those districts will be decided in large part by suburban women voters, and it would be hard for me to imagine those people aren’t watching this scared, like everybody else, for their family and for their children.”

So, Mr. Erlandson finds a graffiti “intimidating”? Has he ever talked to these suburban women voters, who likely see and hear worse every day being teachers or nurses? I understand real rioting is scary. But I also see shades of patronizing tone here. As if all Minnesotan women would be Rose Nylunds from some imaginary St. Olaf. I have family in Minnesota, and they first settled to mining towns up North, which were literally owned by companies. Union pickets were frequently violently broken by the police, paid by the companies. There even was an uncle to my grandfather who was an Union organizer and was found beaten to death on roadside. I don’t think driving police vehicles or to peaceful demonstrators will evoke happy memories in people who’ve heard family stories on this.

    • I was watching briefly some of the twitter feeds of “Seattle burning”. Few blacks were visible. Lots of whites, many were armed, running amok.

      • I just saw a video where vandals filmed spraying painting shop fronts and when they turned around they were white women. The person asked them why and they said they are helping blacks. Her response was now the media and police will say its black people doing this in their own community. So hmm…. another aspect media isn’t talking about.

  16. “America is the only nation in history which miraculously has gone from barbarism to degeneration
without the usual interval of civilization.” – Georges Clemenceau

The idea of America is far better than the dismal reality.

      • Whatever terms it was stated in doesn’t take away from the fact that it is actually true. He said it as an observation and the rest is ……. whatever you want it to be.

In our time now, media pick, chose and shape statements, as do politicians and states people, to fit don’t they? So…??

  17. I see Taylor Swift took a brilliant shot at Trump on Twitter and calling him out for what he is: “After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence? ‘When the looting starts the shooting starts’??? We will vote you out in November. @realdonaldtrump.” It has become her most popular tweet and could hold powerful influence with her followers come November.

The Independent has written a good article on Swift who is taking a stand against the president and flexing her political muscle: ‘Swift’s message was striking for two reasons. It was striking on the surface, because it referred directly to white supremacy and racism – words that many actors in the public discourse, including some media outlets, have been hesitant to use in connection to the president’s actions. And it was striking because it came from an artist who, for years, declined to take a political stance, and only did so after much agonising.’

I know in her Netflix documentary she explained a lot of why she never voted before and got visibly upset about the current political situation and now wanted to be ‘on the right side of history’ by making a stand against not just the president but his cruel supporters in the senate/GOP.

Are there any of the usual astro aspects in their charts to show they rub each other up the wrong way or any potential political leanings in Swift’s chart? Though Trump could rub a dead person up the wrong way. The man is shockingly relentless in his utter arrogance and disrespect for others. It’s like watching a disturbed person take over the asylum.
