The much vaunted peace deal is being trumpeted as agreed from Washington and regarded as a “truce of convenience” elsewhere. No one expects it to be closure.
Analysts were downbeat: “The biggest mistake is for people to think this is the final deal.”
“We were in a lose-lose dynamic, and if they had continued [with the war], the alternative would be just worse for both sides.”
“They think they can work with the government in place now. If you go for total surrender you empower the ultra-hardliners in Iran and that leads to a worse situation. This is a deal for long-term stability.”
The US-Iran agreement will “stop the bleeding. But it is not going to heal the wound.”
“It’s a very weak deal for the US considering what the stated objectives were at the beginning.”
Some analysts question whether the deal will even make it to the next phase, citing Trump’s plan to end the Israeli-Hamas war in Gaza, which is still deadlocked, and there is a risk the Israeli-Hizbollah conflict in Lebanon will undermine the overall agreement with Iran.
If the US escalated strikes as Trump had threatened, Tehran — battered but not defeated — would retaliate against America’s allies in the Gulf and further exacerbate the energy crisis. If the status quo remained, the global economy would be hit harder. Iran will gradually reopen the strait while clearing mines, without charging fees for shipping for the duration of that period.
The agreement was announced on 14 June 2026 at 9.15pm by the Pakistan PM, perhaps from Islamabad. That was just before the Gemini New Moon; with the keeping-up-appearances Venus Jupiter conjunction. Uranus trine Pluto sextile Neptune is in place; with Uranus in that curious conjunction to Sedna (= betrayal and survival after trauma) whose meaning may become clearer down the road. Plus an un-integrated, untethered Mars in Taurus.
The Mars moves by transit into Gemini to collide with Uranus, trine Pluto and sextile Neptune around July 3rd and 4th, which looks an over heated moment, before the more positive Half Grand Sextile around July 17th when Jupiter in Leo opposes Pluto and is trine/sextile Neptune and Uranus. So there may be a smidgeon of trouble in early July before (hopefully) a better result.
Trump’s Solar Return for the coming year from now onwards is less upbeat than his 2025 Solar Return which had a successful/confident Jupiter in the 10th and an ambitious Sun conjunct Midheaven, with a grandstanding, chest-beating Pluto in the 5th; and an explosive Uranus in the 9th square Mars. Though Mars in the 12th might have given a hint about blocks on the road to progress.
From this birthday this month for a year ahead, he has Mars in his 6th house of health which could suggest problems; with Uranus in the 7th hinting at ruptured relationships; and a mentally pressured Pluto in the 3rd.
His Solar Return for 2028 looks trapped.
Netanyahu and Israel both with planets at 4 degrees Cardinal being undermined by tr Neptune in hard aspect will be less than delirious by the turn of events through until August.
