Mars Saturn – take care; Trump nadir

 Mars Saturn approaching an exact conjunction on 19/20 April requires a degree of caution at a personal level since it can be accident-prone or at least attract infuriating delays and difficulties. Mars, especially in Aries is headstrong and when it runs into rigid Saturn the resulting blocked action can result in bad temper if not broken bones.

  Chris Froome, the Tour de France cyclist, crashed badly under Mars Saturn and actor Jeremy Renner was run over by a snow plough with a Mars opposition Saturn in place breaking innumerable bones. Mars Saturn also crops up in terrorist and criminal attacks. The Manchester bombing of 2017 and the London Bridge bombing both occurred with a magnified Saturn opposition Mars in place. Other instances were Kim Kardashian’s burglary in Paris and the 2012 Italy earthquake. The January 6 2021 Capitol Hill riots also occurred on a Mars Saturn square (with Pluto, Uranus and Jupiter adding their contribution as well).

   There are constructive outlets for Mars Saturn since it has a capacity for disciplined aggression – in the military for instance with Saturn allowing for state-sanctioned violence. 

  The other effect can be on sexuality which gets skewed since Mars’ unrestrained testosterone does not appreciate being corralled by moralistic Saturn – or sometimes worse, by the goat-god Saturn goading Mars into perverse behaviours.  Net porn seems infested by Mars Saturn.

 On a constructive level it facilitates disciplined, concentrated action which produces substantial results slowly.

 Previous Mars Saturn conjunctions in Aries don’t indicate major disasters other than the normal run of calamities.

2 April 1998: On the 10th April the Good Friday Agreement was signed bringing to an end the Irish Troubles. Also in later days that month Baader Meinhof disbanded. Tammy Wynette dies. Pakistan tests missiles which could reach India.

3 March 1968:  US public support for the Vietnam War dops noticeably. On the 16th the My Lai massacre occurred with atrocities against civilians.

1 February 1938: Hitler takes over military control.

30 December 1909: Manhattan Bridge opens.

  On reviewing Mars Saturn (see back posts in search), one intriguing pattern emerged.

  1. Trump has his Mars/Saturn midpoint conjunct his 12th house Pluto which hints at (according to Ebertin) brutality, the rage or fury of destruction, death of many.  A 12th house Pluto tends to hide away a cauldron of deep, dark emotions which surface compulsively.  A far cry from the entertaining clown he first appeared.
  2.  The eclipses just prior to Trump’s first election victory in 2016 had a Mars Saturn conjunction in fiery Sagittarius square Neptune South Node in Pisces. Not a million miles different from this month’s Mars Saturn Neptune conjunction in fire sign Aries. At his first inauguration in 2017 there was a Mars in Pisces square Saturn,
  3. That 2016 eclipse progressed by Solar Arc to his year has the Solar Arc Pluto square the Uranus which is often a topple-off-the-perch moment for political leaders. Even if it is not terminal in career terms, it certainly suggests a major reversal. Indications from his 2025 Inauguration chart did indicate the tyrannical nature of his second term with Mars opposition Pluto Sun would peak last month in March and then likely go into a downhill slide. Hubris holed below the waterline.

  He has got himself into a conflict which he carelessly assumed would be an in-and-out slamdunk and now has all the indications of a humiliating climbdown or worse an Iraq/Vietnam extended scenario. He has managed to split his MAGA supporters having broken his no-foreign-wars campaign promises – and worse to offend Catholics over his spat with Pope Leo and other religious believers with his blasphemous I-am-Jesus Truth Social post. Other support is leaking away over the rise in the cost of living – food, oil and concerns over healthcare.

 The 2016 eclipse connection may seem obscure but observations about the August 1999 total solar eclipse indicated that it resonated to events eighteen months later when transiting planets triggered the eclipse chart with a devastating Gujarat earthquake in central western India on January 26 2001 – exactly on the 1999 eclipse path. The catastrophic national foot & mouth epidemic in the UK, also started around this time.

It is worth watching for eclipse delayed after-effects especially where the eclipse path is concerned, in certain cases for some years. The eclipse path joining the UK to Germany & Europe fell in June 1936 and war did not break out for another three years.

  1. Today’s New Moon at 27 Aries suggests a new phase of active individual focus that the Mars-Saturn conjunction will initiate, impose, or control. Will individuals with charts contacted by these see related results or development with the May 1 Full Moon at 11 Scorpio?

    For Trump, the NM trines his Mars-ASC, supporting a show of personal confidence and actions, and the Mars-Saturn conjunction, in his 8th House, squares his Mercury, perhaps reflecting the U.S.(his) control of Iran with the blockade. The May 1 Full Moon will square his Pluto – revealing power struggles, trust issues?

      • Pdw, thanks for the new Moon comment – the trine to his Mars-Asc is such a concern as to world peace and financial stability. It is quite discouraging that he carries on so freely. This month many commenters, including Marjorie, have noted significant aspects to Trump’s natal and progressed planets. I was hoping that they would signal greater control over his behaviour, or actual limitations applied to his powers, even plain ordinary outrage in the major media as to his posting of religious memes and so on. But rather that new Moon looks like he has plenty more steam to inflict crazy stuff on the world. I note his progressed Venus, after a long run-up phase, is applying to exactly conjunct his progressed Jupiter in his progressed 12th house in Libra (secret deals, money), which are square his natal Venus at 25 Cancer in the 11th of associates. They are all happy to make money behind closed doors, while the progressed Moon in Scorpio (debt) wanders through his 4th house of home. That New Sun/Moon conjunction at 27 Aries in his 9th of foreign affairs is precisely trine his progressed Mercury at the Ascendant at 27 Leo. It may not last long, but it looks like he will soon be crowing about something.

        Undoubtedly there will be continuing power struggles and trust issues – how could it be otherwise? There are too many supportive aspects! I think he is going to be empowered in his Hormuz moves, not the opposite – at least I hope it saves lots of lives of ordinary people if he manages to pull off a “win” in the media. The reality of what has transpired will be obscured for a while (12th house).

        • Appreciate your comments, SweetGrapes. Good call re: the SP Moon in his Scorpio 4th House, close to the cusp and squaring his Mars-ASC. To me, this adds more personal emphasis to the current timing, and perhaps reflects a critical (hyper, urgent) awareness of the need for his staying power and resilience during it.

          • Agreed, pdw, about the hyper part. To anyone following this, I’m using a 3-level chart for April 17, with natal, secondary progressed (noon) and transits for Trump’s birth location (noon, Queens). On the 17th transiting Mars at 5 Aries in the 8th is opposite natal Neptune at 5 Libra, which increases the unreal Neptune stuff. On the 19th to 20th transiting Mars/Saturn conjunct at 7 Aries are opposite Trump’s progressed Neptune at 7 Libra, plus Mercury (news) in the 8th will be opposite progressed Neptune. It’s Neptune on a roll. Saturn does not limit the action until the full Moon of May 1, when it inconjuncts progressed Sun at 9 Virgo, but even then Venus at the midheaven (10th) sweetens the pot. Both Saturn and Venus are applying to natal Pluto at 10 Leo and Saturn is trine Pluto. The limits may not be very limiting. A Venus transit is temporary, but it can make a difference in perception at the MC.

          • P.S. I just noticed the April 17th progressed chart for DJT has Trump’s progressed Saturn with no aspects whatsoever from the Sun/Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars or Jupiter. No limits from the limiter, which is Saturn’s job (keeping it real, practical, making decisions that stick). Progressed Neptune is sextile Saturn, making it easier to be vague. Tough when nothing is putting on the brakes.

    • I have the new moon in aries transit conjunct my mars(tight). This morning, I woke up with bright ideas on how to tackle some old items that had been lying around my room. Houses don’t make sense. But maybe moon = home? Mars = action.

      • “Waking up with bright ideas to tackle old items” made me think about the early Aries transit buildup (Neptune-Mercury-Mars-Saturn) forming a sextile to the Pluto transit. Perhaps there’s a connection to these in your chart and the NM prompted a show of the potential?

  2. There’s a Saturn/Mars conjunction in early Aquarius in Keir Starmer’s leadership chart, which Marjorie posted last June. She noted:

    “a prone-to-setbacks Mars conjunct Saturn in Aquarius which is being ground down right through until late 2026. With disruptions and upheavals from late March 2026 to late 2027, which could be his topple-off-perch time.”

    • Interesting given today’s news about the UK government vetting scandal and the subsequent sacking of Olly Robbins, the top civil servant in Foreign Office for allegedly failing to tell ministers that Mandelson failed the security checks before taking up his job as Britain’s ambassador in Washington. The Mars/Saturn conjunction squares Starmer’s natal Mars at 6 Cancer so his chart is being activated as is the Moon at 7 Cancer in the Labour government chart. In addition the conjunction falls exactly on the Pluto at 7 Libra opposition Jupiter at 7 Aries in Robbin’s natal chart.

  3. Unmystic Mom, I thought about an eager, curious, active mind (Aries Mercury) blended with the need to socially interact with others (Libra Moon). Might the Saturn-Mars transit slow or limit this interaction, or direct it toward solving a serious problem or working on a new project? Just a few ideas.

  4. Anyone know of anyone famous with this conjunction in their chart? Who lives with this conjunction? As there must be some examples.

    • Richard Idemon, Oliver Reed, Katharine Ross, David Jason, Fran Tarkenton, Molly Ringwald, Delphine (Princess of Belgium), Elle Fanning are about the only names out of 218 which I recognise for Mars conjunction Saturn in Aries listed in ADB

      • No, he has 26′ Leo Mars, in lose conjunction to 18′ Pluto. He has a 7′ Libra Mercury and 9′ Sagittarius ASC that will be hit. Not sure how this bides for peace talks with Lebanon.

    • I’m not famous but I have Mars Saturn at 1 Sagittarius 4 house apex of a T square. Many family disruptions and conflict.

I could be wrong, but I would have thought for this upcoming Mars/Saturn conjunction to be of major personal significance to Donald Trump they would aspect his natal Neptune and Mercury, which they do not. As the conjunction is occurring in his 9th house with Neptune there alongside, I think it probably reflects the regrettable spat he is having with Pope.

    • Having said that, I have just looked up Aries 7 (where the Mars/Saturn conjunction is about to occur) in the Degree Areas from Medical Astrology by the Ebertins. Aries 7 is connected with the ears. The assassination attempt on DT in 2024 caught his right ear, which is interesting.

      • The ear thing is interesting. I’ve been surprised at lack of comment on the physical and mental effects of the shooting, let alone grazing his ears especially at his advanced age. It must at least have affected his hearing which I know from living with various relatives with acquired deafness strongly affects their psychology.

        • Interesting indeed as the ear itself appears untouched, almost as if it was never actually hit at all by a high-powered weapon. Perfect photo op with the flag and the raised fist.

          • Claire D, which house system are you using for Trump? I ran a chart for the conjunction using Placidus, April 19-20, 2026, and come up with it taking place in Trump’s 8th house. The transit conjunction of Mercury/Mars/Saturn is opposite his progressed Neptune at 7 Libra 17′. And his natal Mars rules his 9th and 4th houses (Aries and Scorpio). Also, on those dates transiting Venus will pass over Algol and Venus rules his Midheaven. Maybe the focal progreessed Neptune ties into the delusional fixation Trump seems to have developed about being divine competition for the Pope. Otherwise, who knows what it adds up to.

          • SweetGrapes, I use Whole Signs, in which case Aries covers DT’s 9th, his Sun conjunct North Node and Uranus is in the 11th and his Moon in the 5th (entertainment).
            It also places his natal Neptune (square his Mercury), Chiron and Jupiter in the 3rd House of communication which works well to explain his bombastic use of language.

            I usually add a note saying I use Whole Signs because otherwise what I say might be confusing for others who use Placidus or Koch. I forgot, my apologies.

  6. Marjorie, I managed to break my hip yesterday, now in hospital awaiting surgery. They’re going to give me a replacement. The Sun/Chiron conjugation is currently square my Saturn. No one can tell me astrology isn’t uncannily accurate on occasions.

    • Wishing you a quick and painless recovery. My mother did her knee replacement some years back. What I felt helpful post surgery was extra cold compress gel packs. For some reasons if one have to wrap the wound 3 times a day, my freezer just refuse to freeze them properly and quickly enough. So having rotation packs was helpful. We got the extra from a relative.

      Mars and Saturn has burnt many incoming people on their wedding, as ritual to enter our clan. I mean literally, burnt..

      But its been half decade for many of them ,still married and m sure this astro pair would have arrived several times. But as I observed, it depends on natal chart saturn n mars postion relation to current position of this pair. And a huge part depends on jupiter n saturn positions as they r large planets n hence more powerful. If they r in enemy sign and opposing then it can be accidental but if they r in conjunction or trine,sextile and friend signs then this conjunction goes away unnoticed. And both r dependent on chart key driver planet : asc or planet with highest degree.

      And thanks for sharing. I like the Chiron symbolism for a period of personal vulnerability and healing. I don’t know how/if your natal Mars or the Mars transit may be emphasized in your chart, but sometimes Mars energy is active for surgery.

    • Oh, I wish you a speedy recovery! I used to work with trauma specialists in my latest employment. The development in trauma surgery has been stunning, some clinics now release the patients the same day.

      My elderly mother fell a couple of days ago, and fractured some bones in her face. I wondered which astrological aspects might have been in effect, now I know. In addition to bones, in her case I think Saturn is also forcing her to face the fact she is getting very old and needs to make changes to avoid a worse outcome next time.

      Something she has refused to do, and continues to deny that anything is wrong, even with this accident, in large part because she had until now been able to count on either good fortune (Jupiter in Sag), or supportive/enabling friends and family. Now family is moving away, and her luck might have protected her from worse injuries, but not totally.

      • Your story reminded me of my sibling (jup in libra) the beginning of this year. Transit jupiter going to conjunct Sun soon. For the last 2 years I have been advising them about supplement, food choices, probiotics due to the weakened immune and now last month, they got a diagnosis of fungal infection that after self care and doctor’s prescription is recurring. Sigh. Hope the Jupiter transit is good.

    • What a shock for you. I think your chart, from what you have shared here, could be very similar to an astrology tutor I have come across in the past. So I wonder if your planets in Scorpio are squaring Pluto? Also is tr Uranus square natal Uranus? Because that would account for some of it. Sorry if that is incorrect.     • I’m so sorry, VF. Wishing you a quick and relatively pain-free recovery. I’m just seven months past a bilateral knee replacement. My best advice to you is to be kind and compassionate to yourself, do your physical therapy and remember that ice, in whatever form you choose to use, is your best friend and is often a more effective pain killer than meds. Sending you healing energy!

      • My husband is going down the same route, Nicole. I will remember the ice packs! I am just 3 days post op and already they have me walking – albeit with crutches – and going up and down stairs. The NHS care has been outstanding. Many overseas workers, physios, surgeons and staff. We only ever hear bad things about it in the media, but I am so grateful for it.

    In light of the can of worms opened recently in the US politics with the discovery of Rep. Swalwells systematic abuse and Rep. Gonzales’ affair leading to a suicide, I am also thinking Mars-Saturn in Aries AND Neptune joining the game is going to bring down many politicians. It seems Sen. Gallego is taking the heat for being a drinking buddy of Swalwell (who, by recent pictures and vids has obviously been hitting the bottle hard…), and it might be truly cloves off now.

    • Interesting, both my adult children, 13 years difference in age (Aqua & Virgo), have 6* ascendants’ – Cancer and Libra respectively – wondering what might arise; eldest estranged himself from family, seemingly influenced by Aqua wife and her family

      Youngest is bobbing around looking for the lighthouse to find direction, fortunately football is/has been a saviour…

        Everytime I would see his face in TV I always thought to myself how punchable it was.
        As for Gallego, I get a queasy feeling about him too.
        He has already announced that he is considering running for president in 2028 even though he was only elected senator two years ago.
        Meanwhile forever charmer Tom Homan has stated that he’s going sit the Catholic Church down and educate it.
        That should be interesting.
        I guess Homan could educate everyone about how to recieve cash bribes stashed in Cava bags.

      Wondering about constructive examples – just wondering if Mary Magdalen (Rooney Mara) is one saturn mars example – is that holding space/thresholding – that determined focus/awareness that accompanies without flinching, elevated to mercy at its highest incarnation?

  11. The Mars-Saturn conjunction will be about 15 degrees off my MC, but within a degree of conjunction to my Mercury and 2 degrees of opposition of my Moon.

    Should I look out for anything particular? Mental health episodes (Moon) or difficulty in communication (Mercury)?

      • The wonderful thing about online forums is that one can get alternate viewpoints that you may not have considered 🙂

        I was wondering if there were alternate ways of analysing the conjunction that I may have missed.

        • Depending on your age, you could look back and see how the two previous times this conjunction occurred (1968 and 1998) affected you.
          Also, as with Trump, if neither Mars nor Saturn aspect your Mercury and Moon (Neptune in his case) in your natal chart, then they are probably less likely to have much of an effect.

    • No idea what you should look for. I am bad at interpretation. But Mary Shea’s book Aspect in astrology has a chapter on semi sextile (30)and sesquisquadrate (135). She mentioned that sesquiquadrate(135) is 45 degree short of a opposition (180). I like to see it as 15 degree short of a inconjunct/quincunx(150). The point is these 2 aspect semi sextile(30) and sesquisquadrate act like an ignition to the trine chart. And is seen in major event. Your 15 degree short reminded me of such possibility. Which means possibility of a the trigger. Be PATIENT!!!! So check ur chart and numbers.
