Mars opposition Pluto which has been a constant and baleful celestial presence since late last October meets its final aspect exactly this Sunday but will hang around in effect for a few days after since the Taurus Sun will hook it into a Fixed T square.
As above so below. Not only does Mars Pluto in hard aspect tend to accompany certain types of events – see previous posts, Pluto – adding power to energy 7th April 2025; and Mars Pluto – testing courage and confidence 7th April 2025 – it also marks those born under its influence.
[The brewing trouble between India and Pakistan over Kashmir being a case in point – with the Kashmir Accession Signing of 26 October 1947 having a Mars Pluto conjunction with Saturn close by – of which more anon tomorrow.]Mars Pluto has an ominous reputation being often connected to ruthless, if not downright criminal behaviour – Richard Nixon and Ho Chi Minh exhibited its do-or-die determination. Though it can have a more productive outcome giving courage and determination in the face of danger as with astronaut Buzz Aldrin and Mahatma Gandhi.
With women, it can produce either a submissive temperament and/or a tendency to attract bullying behaviour from outside – poor little JonBenet Ramsay, (mini-murdered beauty queen), Tippi Hedren (bullied by Hitchcock whose Venus was conjunct his Mars/Pluto midpoint). Ian McKellen, born in 1939, spent his early years in wartime conditions which left their mark in a Mars opposition Pluto. Actor Patrick Stewart who grew up with an abusive father has a Mars Pluto conjunction.
In the Mars Pluto opposition column there are a mix of personalities – some pushy, others finding another outlet for their compacted anger – Bruce Lee, Russell Brand, Woody Allen, Michel Barnier, Justin Trudeau, Rush Limbaugh – as well as Prince Edward, Prince George, Mary Shelley, Cindy Crawford.
Amongst the Mars Pluto conjunction types – Hillary Clinton stars, as does Paul McCartney, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cher, Ringo Starr, George Michael and the tragic Natalie Wood.
The most glaring and negative example of Mars Pluto in conjunction was Nero, 15 December 37 AD JC 7.30am Anzio with Mars Pluto Sun conjunct in Sagittarius and admittedly square Saturn which doubles up on the nastiness. The litany of his crimes including the murder of his mother, wife and brother plus a fair few extras and demonstrate the damage an afflicted Mars Pluto can do when allowed to run rampant.
Mars Pluto squares – Muhammad Ali, Genghis Khan, Oprah Winfrey, Harvey Weinstein, Andrea Bocelli, Roman Polanski, Martin Scorsese, Justin Bieber.
Different personalities but all determined, some finding positive outcomes for the demon which drives them and others taking the low road.
To Marjorie and others (Jane and Hugo always have well thought out perspectives),
Tr Mars opposition Tr Pluto must be a fairly regular occurrence (approximately once every two years).
This one seems to have been particularly sensitive, given it has impacted the Pope and two Queens consort (Denmark and Norway) went into hospital on about the same day. India-Pakistan was retriggered (though to be honest, that is not an infrequent occurrence).
Why was this particular opposition so triggering? Is it just that its effects were picked up in the news more?
There is also a tight t-square involving BML (in Scorpio, no less), so a grand cross today with the Taurus new moon. That’s a little more unusual
My understanding about why this particular Mars/Saturn opposition was so challenging was that Mars was in its fall in Cancer for two of the passes, and additionally, Mars was disabled in Cancer for an exceptionally long period of time, adding to the strain. We also had Pluto making it final ingress from Capricorn into Aquarius during this transit. And so then Mars was making its first contact with Pluto in a new sign. Just, a lot.
Maybe also because it was tied into the Taurus Sun and indeed New Moon setting up a formidable Fixed T square.
Marjorie you referenced two previous Mars-Pluto articles, both April 2025, but cannot find them anywhere. Please help. Thank you for your insightful analysis as ever

Hi Marjori ,Here is the English translation of your text:

**”Following the attack on tourists in Kashmir, there is intense tension between Pakistan and India, with both countries issuing threats of military action. Is there a real danger of a serious war between these two nuclear-armed nations? What are the chances of war between Pakistan’s General Asim Munir and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi? Please analyze this using their astrological chart patterns.”** Would you like the full astrological analysis ?

I have Sun, Mars (combust) and also conjunct Pluto at 26 deg Leo. I am trying to keep a low profile until mid May although I have this week already caused upset by asking someone not to turn their back to me when addressing me. My hearing is not as sharp as it was but their reaction was ‘I won’t be told by you what to do’! Pure projection, IMO. It was a simple request intended to improve communication between us which was interpreted as a power play. It has always been thus.
I am indeed a person of action and can be impatient. I take up causes and fight injustice on behalf of others. I don’t give up or give in. This approach has enabled me to get to the bottom of things with insurers and other ‘faceless institutions’. I am less good at fighting my own corner.
My daughter has Mars conj. Mercury in 6th opp. Pluto in Sag. on Asc. and when she was a teenager we fought cat and dog but now she is older I amazed by how often she turns to me for advice and support. Although she is definitely not a self starter and has difficulty seeing things through to completion. We are closer than ever now. She helps me take distance and I encourage her to keep going till the end (e.g. of her study). It all fits together IMO, there are no ‘bad aspects’, only opportunities for greater self awareness. But as long as humanity remains stuck in ‘survival mode’ (fear) it is difficult to evolve to a level of greater self insight that leads to and mutual respect and understanding. Disruptors stir up fear because people are then more easily manipulated. Fear is our enemy and, unless there is a real physical threat, is best set aside so we can think and respond calmly and rationally.
Stay strong ..leos have to still get out of saturn in Pisces exit effects …8h…india Ans Pakistan and 8h is where our fears lie is also leo sun :-).
Fear is their only weapon but then one can use fear too-against self or enemy or for self determination.
I was reading and seemed to find it true that satrun in 8h brings one to face ita fears to end them
I don’t have any kind of aspect between Mars and Pluto natally, but this lingering opposition seems to be affecting my health a bit as it hits on the cusps of my 1st and 7th houses. Looking forward to Monday, if it does’nt finish me off this weekend !
me too – 3 Aquarius ascendant 🙁
Troops landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day, June 6, 1944, when MarsPluto were conjunct in Leo.
My husband was born in June 1942, two years earlier when MarsPluto were conjunct in Leo.
He’s steady, calm and acts decisively in crisis situations, but has a harder time in everyday, ordinary situations.
At age 1 1/2 his dad, who slept with a gun under his bed, owned a fight arena in Chicago. His dad was a boxer, then promoter who fixed fights before getting suspended by the boxing commission. Had mob connections, said family. His mom grabbed my husband and left the house and marriage when she found the gun.
At age 11, he almost died in a car accident when he was catapulted through a window into a pond. Was on his back choking blood, couldn’t move but tried to survive by calmly breathing to stay afloat or he would drown. Saw him mom die behind the wheel. It took awhile for cops to arrive.
At age 27, during one bad night in the Vietnam War, as he was taking cover from gun fire, he dove into a rice paddy only to find around a dozen dead soldiers. Made him think of the car accident and he regulated his breathing. Then, as a Radioman, he had to coordinate the fight from that point on.
At age 44, while in Chile, he almost drowned after he was tossed from a boat into raging rapids and stayed alive by calming down and analyzing the situation. He changed his posture, pushed away from the wall and kicked his feet to the surface. That night he said he felt like he was on fire and felt lots of adrenaline.
Currently, he has PTSD, and lives with the emotional ramifications of all of the above. Fears water. Became a writer.
What a tremendous example of how it can manifest, and what a brave man. Thank you.
Jean, Just a reminder, many thousands of troops also landed not only, but at the same time on Utah beach, also Gold, Sword and Juno beaches (to the east of Omaha beach).
This was at the time of the Full Moon in Sag which was opposite Sun, Uranus and Venus in Gemini in the 12th house. Saturn was in Gemini in the first house, with an MC at 18 Aquarius.
Right now India Pakistan are at loggerheads again, how will it play out, With Mars opposition Pluto almost exact? Does it look like an all out war from astrological standpoint?
Indeed, I was going to ask Marjorie to respond on almost exactly the same point.
India and Pakistan are interesting because, born within the same 24 hours, with longitudes very closeby, they would have a very similar planetary layout in their charts. So, effectively no point in doing synatry or composite charts, because the natal charts are so similar. They are effectively twins that have taken very different paths in life.
What they would be excellent in would be a astrological study of the house layouts and how the layouts of the houses impacts the planets and their interaction.
Funnily, I think Vedic astrology may have a lot to add to this conversation as house placement is of the paramount importance in Vedic astrology, which is why time of birth is critical for Indians, not merely the date of birth.
As an aside, the Hindutva movement in present-day India has echoes of the Islamisation of Pakistan in the late 1970s/early 1980s. Again, the house layouts and where the planets are with regards to the angles and houses would be an interesting astrological study.
Hilarious …then both should enjoy….i m an Indian and rss was in Kashmir always after conflicts and we know how good it is and Pakistan till it’s existence is Islamist so better …
Mars is getting out of it’s retrograde shadow next month beginning so pluto then onwards in both Pakistan and India’s 7h is out of its line
