Jupiter in Libra – sprinkling a little love around

Jupiter moves into Libra on September 9th to stay until October 2017. Good news for those with Sun in Libra; and even better for those with Libra Ascendants. Jupiter supposedly is the bringer of health, wealth and happiness, which may be too much to expect, but certainly it will bring more confidence, morale boosts and good luck. Jupiter can have a tendency to expect everything handed on a plate without effort, so it can be lazy, demanding, at times a bit above itself, and self-righteous to boot if it gets into know-it-all gear. But in general it is good news.

Aries (Sun or Asc) – better close relationships: Taurus – good for health and work, though indulgent; Gemini – social fun; Cancer -happy home; Leo – confident communication; Virgo – more money;  Scorpio – inner peace; Sagittarius – optimistic, new friends;  Capricorn – social and career success; Aquarius – travel, study, adventurous; Pisces – good for joint finances and sex life.

Libra is the sign of relationship and justice, as well as one of the communication Air signs. Jupiter will have an expansive effect on all of those areas.

Looking back over previous Jupiter in Libras (every 12 years) – Oct 2004 for 1 year; May 1981 for a year; late 1968 for a year; Aug 1957 for a year – it’s tricky to extrapolate what could be attributed solely to it and what to other influences around.

But it does seem to be significant, as might be expected, in promoting better social relations. Civil Rights, gay rights and consumer protection movements started. A variety of joint diplomatic ventures and associations between countries got under way, including the European Economic Community in 1957.

Aerospace, Sputnik satellites and their ilk seem to be more active during these periods.

Both of Prince Charles’ weddings were held under its beneficent parasol, the first to Princess Diana being watched on TV by 700 million round the globe.

  1. Thanks Marjorie. The only Jupiter in Libra pattern I can think of is that Prince Charles seems to like to either get engaged or divorced during this transit, so maybe if I was Camilla I’d be nervous! Personally, it’s going through my 6th house and I’m gutted I’m not in a position to make more use of it (along with Pluto on MC). I scaled my work right back when my youngest was born and I’m not really set up for any changes. Last time in 2004 it unfolded in this house in an almost textbook way, times are a bit more “Saturn” now 🙂 so I’m curious.

  2. Marjorie what about Descendant in Libra? Also the same as for Ascendant? Unfortunately, other than Pluto, I have nothing in Libra. I suppose I need to wait for Jup in Scorpio- I have three planets incl sun. I really need Jup now!

    • Risker, Tr Jupiter conjunct Pluto isn’t to be sniffed at – usually upbeat even though a short time. Jupiter across the Desc and through 7th for a year is generally sociable and good for relationships.

  3. Ooh, she’s had the tr Pluto square tr Uranus bouncing off both for the past three years which is very tough; and in the 8th makes it even tougher. She gets clear from early December this year when tr Pluto finishes the final square to her Moon – though it usually takes a while to pick up the pieces after tr Pluto has moved on to appreciate what really has been going on. Tr Jupiter in Libra moving through her 8th will bring beneficial changes emotionally and financially and she’ll move away from the past more easily than she expects.

    • Thanks
I hope so. Before or around that time of Pluto/Uranus transits she had her SR1 in Scorpio ( 4 degrees). That’s when astrology discovered me! I had to understand what on earth was going on. Even when you know, it doesn’t always help with these challenging, transformational outer planet transits. So speaks a post SR2 at zero Sag. My Jupiter return in Virgo had to tied to health issues and constant editing my book. All done nearly!
Love your daily commentaries. They are the first thing I check.

  4. What about Libra sun and moon people? My daughter’s had a terrible few years with sun at 12libra and moon 15 in the 8th. I would like to see her happier.
    Thank you.
